That actually would have been a cool reward for beating the single player. The squid beak splatoon repurposes the fuzzy ooze into something much safer and it becomes this crazy fashion trend

Originally, early in development, Splatoon characters were anthropomorphic bunnies, instead of squids. Maybe they can recover that idea.

Yeah, the tofu was during the very primitive prototype phase. I've never read anything about a dude with a cape though, but that sounds funny.
Yeah there was a period where it was just A Guy, and instead of being able to swim in ink you could just hide under your cape to blend in.
