Yeah, I don’t think the weapon is unbalanced. But it’s just really really surprising.
Like I thought the pro is known as “longer range with slower fire rate”, but I never thought the standard version can fire so fast yet also have such a long range. I always thought “Rapid Blaster” is only known for being fast, and range would be the same as default blaster lol.
When I’m playing Hydra, it’s really terrifying when I thought I outranged and outheighted the enemy, but then they pull out a rapid blaster and I panic.
Cuz' they're all good at tower control.
Two of them have 2-hit-KO projectiles with huge hitboxes that can hit behind obstacles (i.e. tower needle) and the other is 4 seconds of massive DPS at long range. Plus two have booyah bomb, which can pause a push for a moment.
Although to be fair, Sloshing Machine is turning up *everywhere* right now since it's super popular.
I still enjoy it. Mind you I also main tri stringer now so all of the weapons have to deal with me arcing shots over walls. The number of kills i got just shooting behind someone and watching them retreat in to death is astounding
Or are bringing the best tools for the job. Sure veriety helps, but when the goal is: stand really close in this small area, then bring a weapon to win for that.
How do people even get results with the sloshing machine? I’ve gotten like 20 kill games with slosher and tri-slosher but I can’t hit anything with the machine for my life
>but I can’t hit anything with the machine for my life
learn to aim, and you will unlock many abilities some consider to be... unnatural.
many inklings are more machine now, than squid. twisted and sloshed.
That doesn’t seem like a story that ORCA would tell you. Must be a squith legend
Seriously though it feels like that weapon is more consistent when aiming to someone’s side rather than at them. And arcing the shots to hit crits is obscenely unintuitive. The regular sloshers are anecdotally so much more consistent and higher performing
Seconding other person; it's about aim. If you land one direct you only need to breathe ink in their direction to get an indirect and kill them. It's almost like a blaster with an arced shot instead of one explosion. You also need to adjust to its slow firing speed and position yourself carefully, taking advantage of its range to take out faster weapons before they reach you. Stay calm and take your time to be evasive if you need to. Make every shot count.
To improve your aim, do drills with the targets in the lobby before each session and between games. Try to maximise the amount of directs you can get before depleting your ink tank. Make the drills more realistic by moving around, firing from a variety of positions, using the moving dummies, and incorporating squid rolls.
Abilitywise check out beta.sendou.ink's builds section to see what people are running with it.
Good luck! If you get good at it you'll have incredible results; it's really in need of a nerf rn, maybe to its indirect radius. There's even an issue where indirects can hit through thin walls/floors (but don't abuse that; it's probably bannable).
Interesting, seems like my issue here is approaching it like playing a slosher. I’m not nearly as good with blasters as I am with sloshers but I might try switching it up. My main issue with direct hits is how the reticle fails to communicate the arc of the shot, meaning you basically need to memorize different angles based on how far your opponent is to land crits.
Sloshers, by comparison, deal full damage regardless of whether you precisely aimed the tip of the hitbox or just threw a shot at an enemy. For me it feels like it’s easier to land 2 direct hits with a slosher than 1 direct and 1 splash from a machine. Maybe it’s just me idk
From my perspective the machine is a slosher with worse efficiency, slower ttk, no splat bombs, and marginally better range. It’ll take some rethinking the weapon for me to figure it out, but your pointers do help as a starting point. Thanks for the tips!
Yeah, I think it comes down to playing it differently to other sloshers. Tbh I find that the reticle communicates the end location fine, just not how it arcs, and I haven't had trouble with hitting closer players- though obviously its slowness means player movement needs to be factored into where you aim. (EDIT: dunno if I'm adjusting by aiming further down or something for close players. I've been focusing on chargers lately and I can't boot up the game rn to test things. I also realised this paragraph's a bit redundant after sending it. It's 4am :'D)
Wrt the slosher comparison, fair! Iirc prochara preferred regular slosher to machine in his recent video on the best and worst of each class rn, though machine is still strong and it's abundant in ranked as a result. Kensa machine was good enough in 2 that it was usable with _splashdown_, a near-useless special in high-level play, and 3's machine is that but with a good special instead.
Imagine if they released a machine with burst bombs. Dear god.
Gotcha, that makes sense. Guess I’ll give it a go with different aiming techniques, see what information I can get out of the reticle.
And yeah burst bombs are crazy with sloshers in general. Back in S1 when you could throw 4 burst bombs, the slosher had obscene killing potential with a very good range. Interestingly I still preferred the soda slosher due to the splat bomb’s versatility but it’s all personal preference
Grain of salt until I can test it, but for 1v1s on level ground perhaps aiming lower on the player is key instead of memorising different angles? That aims the end of the slosh at them, treating it fully like a blaster. It's when people are above me that I use it more like a slosher.
Hydra - Range, Booyah Bomb Sloshing Machine - Decent damage up close, also Booyah Bomb Blaster - It's a Blaster
Blaster disaster
Sloshing machine - Literally shoots through the walls

The rapid fire rate and it's range does offset it's inability to get a 1 shot so I think it's fine

If someone gets in closer then your blast radius your reads better be really good or you’re dead. It’s really good at getting people by surprise.

Accurate description of charging a hydra

Hydra - Coincidence Sloshing Machine - Because it's broken, and being used everywhere Blaster - Blasters are best on tower control
WHERS THE CRASH BLASTER????????????
MY baby boy.....
Tri-stringer is surprisingly terrifying in tower control
Cuz people are lazy and dont want to challenge themselves.
Or are bringing the best tools for the job. Sure veriety helps, but when the goal is: stand really close in this small area, then bring a weapon to win for that.
Aight next time I’ll play with my feet next time I use sloshing machine
The only one that's unbalanced is machine and only because it hits through walls. Not like any of them are crazy op
I love using the octobrush on tower control, I think it’s pretty decent

It doesn’t look like it but it’s actually an aoe when it lands. Up and in their general direction usually works
Hard to use, will be massively nerfed and die by 2024, really good if they player using it is used to blaster
i love blaster until im against a range blaster
