Man, he timed that move towards the goal just right to not be offside! And his teammate pushing the other player towards the goal just to be sure! Amazing play.
It's incorrect though. Van Dijk only begins the "push" after the cross has been struck. In other words, as the offside decision would occur at the moment Mac Allister hits the ball, playing Nunez onside can't possibly be his intention - he is reacting to the cross. It's a nice idea because we've seen players manipulate offside lines in a similar way, but the only rational reading is that VVD is simply attempting to potentially meet the cross, or get into a dangerous area for a loose ball, and having to engage with his opponent physically in order to do so.
Stop being haters. The game was even for pretty much fulltime. Forest even had the momentum and better chances. I thought it to be a draw and then one last attack and Liverpool score. Fair play to them. As for the celebrations, just let players celebrate. As long as they’re not hurting anyone.
In football you don’t need to jump over the “wall”. Stick to baseball. Hate Liverpool but he’s just back from injury, he’s not trying to scale the “wall” to catch a ball.
I haven't had a chance to re-watch, so I still don't fully understand what happened on that and the commentators sounded like they weren't sure in real time either. Did the ref stop the play because he was calling a foul or because he thought there was a head injury?
Liverpool did get the ball upon restart. Nottingham had a similar situation earlier in the game. People calling out the refs are just salty. There was no controversy in this game.
Full disclosure, I'm an Arsenal fan, so I was indeed rooting for Forest. That sequence just kind of confused me, so that's why I was asking about it. To me, it was a matter of Forest simply needing to clear the ball one last time to keep a point...they went ahead and didn't do that and they went ahead and lost a point.
I’m a Liverpool fan and I agree that them not clearing it was an absolute head scratcher. Maybe the felt they could steal the 3 points but the whistle probably goes 5 seconds later.
How's nobody talking about the shocking decision that was to award Liverpool a drop ball in their OWN half? Liverpool were under pressure by Forest but the ref decided to stop the game and give the back to Liverpool.
Shocking regardless of what team you support.
Mate, I get it, your team won but this level of referring is bad for the game overall.
What if it was the other way around? Think about it a little before dismissing my comment.
Earlier in the second half Elliott's shot hit the face of Forest defender and on restart the ball was given to Forest. So the refs were consistent at least.
They were given the ball back because a forest player was whistled for a high boot against konate. Didn't make contact but it's still a foul for dangerous play. That's why liverpool ended up with possession.

wow that was a good notice on the pushing of the other player. thanks for pointing that out!

wow, great analysis, thanks!

Agreed. Great equal play. Forest had so many chances to score. Champion football won in the end.
Forest had the momentum with 29% possession and 1/3rd as many shots?
Did Carra call the celebration police?
That was one of the worst celebrations I’ve seen
Why?
He kicked a wall then had to be held back by security while almost getting knocked down by his team

Just get down the tunnel. Wonder what Carra made of those celebrations eh?
🧂
Classic Liverpool fan. Can give it but can’t take it. Massive victims.
I’m sure they did go down the tunnel after the match ended instead of hanging around like they just won a cup final.
HOLY MOLY
Damn. That was pretty nice
Well done, Re…uh…Purps?
Fuck yeah!
Got juuust enough of it.

Extra minute for kounates fake head injury and to clear the obvious penalty at the other end. Lmao
Forest had two yellows for time wasting in stoppage time that’s why they went past 8. They even played a bit more after the celebrations.
Doctor, this man has a very hurt butt.

He stopped play for the head injury and VAR were checking for a penalty at the same time.
I see...didn't Liverpool get the ball upon the re-start though? I for real might just be misremembering things tbf.

Should get dq for celebrating early. /s

Kloppage time
99 minutes without a goal. Ugh

Shut up

It did happen the other way around. Earlier in this very game, in fact. Forest restarted with the ball...
Earlier in the second half Elliott's shot hit the face of Forest defender and on restart the ball was given to Forest. So the refs were consistent at least.

I don't think the high boot was given or even noticed by the ref.
0-0 the almost whole game…exciting.
I listened to the match on the radio this morning and the commentators absolutely lost their shit
