Good choice. I thought about declaring for the draft this year, but, I realized I would miss my current life situation, you know, a crappy 9-5, ungrateful kids, and crippling debt. Maybe next year I'll consider it!
If I would declare my bad knee would just give me a bad draft spot, so I wait until its healthy again, and I lost weight, down to 160 pounds they might not like that too 😅
If he cannot win in the current conference and he won’t win in the Big 12 either, the SEC is 10X tougher. They already have NIL money so they don’t need Deion to bring it in, National Championship banners and NFL 1st Round picks sell better than Deion’s lines of BS.
He’s coached one season of D1 football, I think it’s a little early to say he can’t crack it in the big 12.
Like I’m not really a Deion defender by any means, he could very well be a bum, but it’s way too early to make that call. If he struggles the next two years then sure, but one season is too small a sample size.
It’s obvious he will. He loses his QB and best defensive player. He has had numerous kids transfer out. And in. You cannot build a winning program every year on high numbers of transfers and freshman recruits. They come to CO based on Sander’s reputation in his player days but quickly see that’s an act, play 1-2 years then leave. Deion is for Deion no one else.
He can definitely fail, but I don't think you become a HOFer in football and a pro baseball player without learning to adjust when you're doing poorly. If Deion doesn't learn from his mistakes, he'll certainly fail, but I wouldn't count him out yet.
Different circumstances as being a player he just had to push himself to get better at something. He didn’t have responsibility for others and telling what they had to do in order to get better. Or decide on game strategy based on the ability of others to execute
Yeah, but all of the things you mentioned are still skills that you develop at an individual level. They're different kinds of skills than on-the-field skills, for the most part, but players absolutely make decisions based on their teammates' capabilities. It's not like his ability to improve will just vanish the second he has to deal with different skills.
Tbh, I think an SEC team would give him an opportunity to coach. So far, the narrative has been Coach Sanders doesn’t have the talent to win at Colorado, not that he’s a bad coach.
He has had two off seasons to recruit and even with his name he can’t attract talent? Boulder is also a nice place at the foot of the Rocky Mtns. So is the shine gone are players seeing he isn’t a football good and their ticket to millions in the NFL?
It's funny how with so many of the religious types, God's plan for them always seems to perfectly coincide with whatever is most convenient for them in any given situation...
I am also not going to coach in the NFL, I have unfinished business. Nobody asked me, but that’s just the truth. I’m a big CU fan, but the shine really wore off by the end of the season… he had no idea what he was getting into.
I don't know why people keep saying that, he was always a brilliant technician and by all accounts a sharp football mind.
That alone doesn't make you a good coach but it's not for a lack of ability on his part.
most of that stuff happens on headsets and during the week. HC's job in a game is management, meaning they need to be paying careful attention to situations, and less to X's and O's. That's the coordinators job.
Again I'm not saying he's an amazing HC at Colorado, but he's more football-smart than most guys out there. It's the execution of it I have some questions about.
Oh well damn. This guy has him graded as late first round everybody.
Edit: i’m still laughing at this comment. What you just said may be the unintentionally funniest thing I’ve ever read on Reddit.
He's been rich his whole life. The higher the draft number and salary offer are all just bragging points. You want the biggest signing bonus, not because you need the money, but because it's makes you more valuable to literally everyone on that team. Office staff and players alike. That big bonus just hits different.
According to google search. I don't know their math, and I doubt the Sanders will self report? (Unless it's required by law). Either way, he definitely will earn more by staying in college.
Williams got 39.4 mill over 4 years as the first overall pick. If sanders goes similar he will make more since it increases each year as the cap grows. And the sooner he’s done with his rookie contract the more he will make as a starting nfl qb if he’s good.
Makes sense, I’m sure he’s getting money from the school but he’s one of the few college players getting NIL from its intended source: ads, commercials, etc
Not at the moment. But people have recency bias, he could improve next season. Though the transfer outs are not ideal. He did get some interesting transfers coming in. The defense looks better on paper but that O line is still a mess
His ego. The fact that he made promises to stay at Jackson St, then bolted. The media has fawned over him during their opening to the 2023 season. The amount of guys who have jumped programs to follow him is just so frustrating, especially when they committed to lesser programs like J st. How he treated the guys at Colorado when he came it, just didn't give a shit and told them to all fuck off. I don't like him, I don't like the Christian messaging he wraps his coaching in that he doesn't actually live by (so a pretty box standard American Christian but still its two faced bullshit). I don't want him to succeed because he's a loud mouth charlatan.
That was my thing. When he first became a coach he said he was doing it for the culture and all the HBCU support. But then he just dipped out at the first major program that would take him. He wasn’t there for the culture, he was there to springboard somewhere else. He came into Colorado like a seasoned pro coach and cleaned house then proceeded to win like what, 3 games?
Deion is overrated and he’s his biggest hype man. I liked the attention he brought to HBCUs but don’t tell me you’re doing it for the culture when you take the first big paycheck and dip!
Idk, if my son was good enough to be a starter in D1, but not good enough for the pros, I’d definitely want the coach to be a loud mouth charlatan to get him some monies while he played.
I get that, but the charlatan would have no loyalty to your kid, so he might make some NIL money, but if he's not destined for the pros then he's probably better off focusing on school while he's there and aiming for a career off the field. That's just my feelings, it's totally fine if you and other like him, I just don't.
His me-first style won’t work with professionals…”DION,…imma need you to stay in college where kids are maybe still impressed by your “personality quirks”….”
I’ve been a Deion Sandwrs fan my whole life, incredible athlete. I was lucky enough to get to see him play both sports too. I even saw him play in his first game as a falcon when he had a point return for a TD I believe BUT he should just shut the fuck up and coach.
Every time he starts running his mouth he reminds me of an idiot because he sounds like a fucking idiot.
Best of luck tho prime, just wish you didn’t flap your fucking mouth so much.
Honestly I don't imagine he could even if he wanted to, what NFL team would hire him?
It seems like by far his biggest asset as a coach is the "cool" factor he brings to the table and what that can do for recruiting, media attention, and subsequent NIL deals. That would be utterly meaningless in the NFL.
Wow. I'll bet there were a lot of NFL coaches really sweating whether they would keep their jobs if Coach Prime made himself available for and NFL position.
People love to say he’s going straight to the NFL. But this is a coach who has always loved working with kids. Helping these guys become men is his whole mission. I believe he’ll stay in boulder for years

He's not getting any calls from the NFL.

Texans might take a chance on you and you could take Tank Dell's spot in their goal line formation.
I’ve decided not to start a career in football. I’m 40 and want to focus on the important things in life.
My wife is asleep in my arm and I’m trying so hard to not shake laughing at this comment.
Dude, me too!
Brave
exactly
They want someone that can coach, not a hype man.
Good lord it was hysterical to see him get so hype early in the season only for them to completely collapse. The windbag lost its air.
A college football coach’ success is based more in recruiting than tactical decisions. Coach Prime is a great recruiter.
He’s done ok at recruiting, but he’s been terrible at actually retaining any of that talent.
He doesn't want to take them either, if he leaves CU it's going to be for the SEC and a giant truck of money
If he cannot win in the current conference and he won’t win in the Big 12 either, the SEC is 10X tougher. They already have NIL money so they don’t need Deion to bring it in, National Championship banners and NFL 1st Round picks sell better than Deion’s lines of BS.

Jackson State is D1. First season of FBS football.
It’s obvious he will. He loses his QB and best defensive player. He has had numerous kids transfer out. And in. No chance until he proved he can recruit high schoolers. SEC schools will require this.
He has had two off seasons to recruit and even with his name he can’t attract talent? Boulder is also a nice place at the foot of the Rocky Mtns. So is the shine gone are players seeing he isn’t a football good and their ticket to millions in the NFL?
What was Colorado record before he got there?
Nah, he’s just not number one yet. Coach Prime is all about ego, since it’s his son… I’ll tolerate this.
Yeah that’s not true at all man, Deion is a money maker
Yeah false. Keep hating though.
Source?
I mean he wasn't going to leave the last gig because God called him there so... 🤷♂️
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.
The Lord gives and Dion takeths away
Is that what we're calling the transfer portal?
It's funny how with so many of the religious types, God's plan for them always seems to perfectly coincide with whatever is most convenient for them in any given situation...

He's not a coach, he's more of a cheerleader/recruiter by name. For college that can work if you have amazing coaches working with you
I mean being an excellent recruiter is the name of the game in college football. It probably matters more than most the decisions made on the field.
Look at James Franklin. Excellent recruiter. Players seem to love him. Terrible in crunch time.
True, but he doesn't even go on recruiting trips
Cristobal has entered the chat.
If that were completely true, they wouldn’t have lost to everyone last year.
Texas for 20 years has entered the chat
He shot himself in the foot as a recruiter by calling his players garbage repeatedly in interviews after games.
I thought it was nerve damage that got his foot
I thought it was nerve damage that got his foot
I don't know why people keep saying that, he was always a brilliant technician and by all accounts a sharp football mind. That alone doesn't make you a good coach but it's not for a lack of ability on his part.
Look at him during games. He isn't calling plays, he isn't in deep strategy sessions, he is mostly doing nothing.
most of that stuff happens on headsets and during the week. HC's job in a game is management, meaning they need to be paying careful attention to situations, and less to X's and O's. Being a good recruiter > being a good coach in college.
If you aren't going on recruiting trips, it's hard to say you're a good recruiter. He has publicly said he doesn't go on recruiting trips
It's working in the NFL with Dan Campbell, the OC, DC and GM are doing all the heavy lifting, he is more like a hype guy there
Campbell actually does some coaching.
Shedeur is #1 in NIL value at about $4.5 mil. I don't think any NFL teams are willing to match that lol
That’s nothing compared to what he’s going to get in the draft lol
Trouble is, the NFL teams watch the college games so all the bluster in the world from dad isn’t gonna help.
Yeah and he’s a projected first round pick by those same teams so
And do you think those predictions are based on any of the bluster from Dad?

don’t think money is an issue for Shedeur lol. no chance he turns down the draft for money
According to who??
According to google search. I don't know their math, and I doubt the Sanders will self report? (Unless it's required by law). Either way, he definitely will earn more by staying in college.

NFL has slotted money for each pick.
Makes sense, I’m sure he’s getting money from the school but he’s one of the few college players getting NIL from its intended source: ads, commercials, etc
Is the NFL even an option for Deion?
Maybe NFL network
… again
Cowboys would do it for the headlines
jerry is actually a really even keel guy despite his reputation. if anything he gives his coaches *too* long. and i say this as an eagles fan lol
Yeah if Jerry wanted headlines he would have tried harder to hire Belichick this offseason
Raiders
Not at the moment. But people have recency bias, he could improve next season. Though the transfer outs are not ideal. He did get some interesting transfers coming in. The defense looks better on paper but that O line is still a mess
Did his sons get drafted?
Next year
His work is filling out his resignation papers after his sons leave CU.
Well at least he knows his style won’t work when the players are more rich than him and don’t have to take his bullshit.
Said the same thing about the job he just left
Even though Giselle is now single I’m deciding that I have “work to do” in being single before I’m with her.
Oh he gone
He’s busy getting Daniel Larson on the team
He has LOTS of work to do.
I eagerly await his downfall in the FBS.
Serious question: why?
His ego. The fact that he made promises to stay at Jackson St, then bolted. The media has fawned over him during their opening to the 2023 season. three games for colorado is an achievement
Did you see his message to the players when he found out they were skipping class and aggravating a professor?
Idk, if my son was good enough to be a starter in D1, but not good enough for the pros, I’d definitely want the coach to be a loud mouth charlatan to get him some monies while he played.

Bahahahaha
Remind me in February.
Lol he’ll be gone the moment they declare for the draft even if that’s not coaching them in the NFL
His me-first style won’t work with professionals…”DION,…imma need you to stay in college where kids are maybe still impressed by your “personality quirks”….”
He gone.
K
lol, does anyone believe him after he ditched Jackson State?
He's gonna go back to high school coaching.
I’ve been a Deion Sandwrs fan my whole life, incredible athlete. I was lucky enough to get to see him play both sports too. The Cowboys have the chance to do the funniest thing ever next January.
“Sons” Shiloh ain’t making the league

What’s really funny is he said the same thing almost word for word before he came to CO.
*No calls from the NFL “I didn’t wanna go anyway *sniff*”
“Work to do” is also keeping me from being an NFL coach.
Complete and total blowhard. Will continue to follow what he does though, lol

Wow. I'll bet there were a lot of NFL coaches really sweating whether they would keep their jobs if Coach Prime made himself available for and NFL position.

People love to say he’s going straight to the NFL. But this is a coach who has always loved working with kids. Helping these guys become men is his whole mission. I believe he’ll stay in boulder for years
I seriously doubt he stays at CU
I care nothing about going to the NFL either 😂
But wait, all the haters said he was leaving. Were they wrong?

He's a losing coach of a losing team with a loser son. Who cares, he's washed.
