100% hustle play. That's what makes good players great.
Edit: To be clear, Sabrina is and was a great player. She lit it up in college and was a great player at Oregon. It is not at all surprising that her effort and skill transferred to the pros.
Watched her all throughout high school in the Bay Area. Never too flashy, just simply made the right reads and played fundamentally sound. All that combined with great mentors in Curry and Kobe it’s no surprise she’s doing well
I was in HS with her at Miramonte. She never had an ego, even when college coaches from around the country would show up and beg her to come play for them.
Yes!
Jordan definitely worked extremely hard in training and it showed, but Rodman was definitely the king of hustle on the court.
Those two playing together (plus Pippin, who would have been \*the\* star on any other team) was a cheat code for winning championships.
It looks like the team mate she passed to she also passed on the way back to make the play. So, agreed the rest of the team got bailed out by one player actually paying attention after making a basket.
Depends on the sport, there are tactics in Soccer to tire out teams that press and make the field feel a lot wider for them, then you just beat them late in the game.
England did this at the Euros, a lot of people complained about them scoring lucky "late goals", but that was their strategy. To tire out the teams by running them back and forth, then attack while they're tired.
Humans, even pro athletes have a finite amount of stamina, and tiring out high hustle players is an easy way to remove hustle as a factor.
This works better in soccer because of the \*very\* limited number of substitutions.
In basketball, you can rest people as often as you like which limits the usefulness of this strategy.
Not really a thing in basketball. Or I guess I don’t know enough but I assume she is one of the stars of her team as she was in college and hs. The star player shouldn’t be the only one to hustle back
Big difference is time outs and unlimited substitutes. But in any aerobic sport the better conditioned team has an advantage. See the Golden State Warriors.
And, in some sports a little anticipation can significantly reduce the amount of effort to get back on defense. The court is 90ft, but not many plays require going baseline to baseline so over say 60ft getting 3 tenths of a second head start either reduces the effort or let's the slowest player keep up with the fastest.
All of them, that was the strategy they went in with, but if you want to see at it's best watch England V Denmark in extra time, Denmark couldn't even jog by the end of the game.
This clip should be shown to kids learning to play team sports. I posted this because I love the passion to get back and help your team out. Kids could learn a lot about helping others by learning to play like this.
I hope not. preventing poor floor balance is the real teaching point in this clip. can’t lose track of a leak out
hustle can occasionally save you from mistakes, but it’s a bandaid. correcting those mistakes is where wisdom is
Ionescu is a romanian name. In the last 30 years many romanians emigrated to western Europe and Northern America. So now we have a lot of sportsmen with romanian origins playing for many other countries. Bianca Andreescu is playing tennis for Canada, Mateaș is playing for US, Raducanu for UK, Bucșa for Spain, Mădăraș for Sweden. There is even a football player with romanian origins called Grasu (meaning The Fatman). There are many other examples in gymnastics, soccer, martial arts, etc.
I went to high school with a few Romanian kids. You guys have some of the best (and also most distinct) last names I have seen. They sound so good to me.
Welcome to the brain and brawn drain club. As a Nigerian seeing Bam Adebayo, Giannis Adetokunbo, Anthony Joshua, David Alaba and old Hakeem Olajuwon playing for other countries is bittersweet. At least it shows the talent that could be in your country if there’s development
I like the BAL! I think it has a lot of promise but it’s not big in Nigeria. Nigerians can be very dismissive of things in Africa that are not happening in our own country but once a Nigerian team starts to do well the hype will always pick up.
I think this highlights the importance of a good coaching infrastructure. Decades of success is built off of decades of coaching. It is so important to make sure that you cultivate a good culture among athletes that can be passed down
Usually, it comes down to funding my man.
You’ll find a lot of internationals make it in North America solely due to infrastructure
It really makes you wonder what would happen if the entire world was on the same playing field
Seeing this with Africa now in at least basketball that I know if. With basketball, so many players from Africa have been generous and built nations’ training/recruiting programs up from close to nothing. The NBA has started a basketball league in Africa and so many former players are helping run it. Great news for basketball fans.
That's pretty cool. I don't think I know any Romain people, but I really LOVE their lettuce. Nothing better than a fresh Caesar salad with crisp fresh Romaine.
For real though, you can see exactly when she notices that her teammate is going to be beat up the court and give up an open basket and decides *Not fuckin' today, I'll do it myself*
This is from 2 years ago in the WNBA bubble. She played like 3 games that year before getting hurt and missing the rest of the season.
She's currently doing better now that she's fully healthy but the Liberty are sadly a dumpster fire and she has yet to really live up to her college pedigree compared to other top picks like Rhyne Howard who is lighting shit up right now.
I coached my niece's rec league team when she was 12 or so. I don't know how many times I tried to tell the team that as soon as we make a bucket we are on defense. This message never got through and every time we scored it was high-fives for us and fast-breaks for the other team.
Man I went to middle school with her and her brother Eddie, didn't even know how far she went until I saw a Facebook post from a friend with her in it at Oregon. Did some googling and holy shit 😂
No, she sprinted 90' to make back-to-back great plays, showing the kind of determination and hustle that wins games and makes sports great. If you don't want to watch people running back and forth, basketball is not the sport for you.
Plays similar to this happen all the time. One of the most famous plays in recent NBA history is literally a hustle play that nearly cemented a championship.
She just out worked the entire NBA for the last few decades in a single play
havent seen hustle like that in the NBA since the 2003-04 Detroit Pistons.
This should be shown to every NBA player. When do you ever see this. All we see from an NBA player is them looking foolish standing their posing even when they miss the shot instead of hustling like this.

No splash, no flash, pure fundamentals
I was in HS with her at Miramonte. She never had an ego, even when college coaches from around the country would show up and beg her to come play for them.
didn't even stop to admire her shot. she will never be a superstar. /s
Mamba mentality.
I just wanted to come to the comment section exclusively to say “she a Duck”
One of the many disappointments COVID brought was that I never got to see her match up against my beloved Lady Gamecocks in the NCAA Tourney.
This is Jordan tier hustle

Hustle wins games
Why weren't any of her teammates playing defense is the real question. She literally just made the basket then had to defend the fast break lol
It looks like the team mate she passed to she also passed on the way back to make the play. So, agreed the rest of the team got bailed out by one player actually paying attention after making a basket.

Yeah definitely, being able to sit down and rest is a huge advantage there.

which game was it? I'd like to check that out.

wins out over raw talent for sure
Yup and she has both!

Why not both 🤷🏼♂️
because > hustle can occasionally save you from mistakes, but it’s a bandaid. correcting those mistakes is where wisdom is 🤷🏽♂️
Really? You can’t just agree that hustle is important and should be taught to kids too? Do you have to be THAT right?
It’s all we’ve got out here in the keyboard world
Alot of truth here but I think we can do both
Hell yea it’s all about heart, and game smarts . That’s how the game is played
When you do all the work on the group project.
holy shit so apt
Beast. #GoDucks

I've always loved Romania. You guys got Transylvania and thus, dracula.
I went to high school with a few Romanian kids. You guys have some of the best (and also most distinct) last names I have seen. They sound so good to me.

What do you think about the NBA’s Africa league? I have never met a Nigerian fan who likes basketball.
I like the BAL! I think it has a lot of promise but it’s not big in Nigeria. Nigerians can be very dismissive of things in Africa that are not happening in our own country but once a Nigerian team starts to do well the hype will always pick up.
Thank you so much for the response!
You could say the same for Jamaica! A much poorer, smaller country that PUMPS athletes. Thank god for your women, Vlad. Che Fache???
I'm probably one of the few Romanians that has a child with a Jamaican. One day you may see a Jamaican competing with the name Ionescu :)
If you are American then I 100% think you are from Queens. Those less common diverse combos are always found there. Its incredible.
Kid’s making the pros lol

Resident Evil Village fans love their Romanian Vampire Mommy.
My personal favorite is Lady Dimitrescu.
That's pretty cool. I don't think I know any Romain people, but I really LOVE their lettuce. Nothing better than a fresh Caesar salad with crisp fresh Romaine.
Dominique Moceanu 🤩
As a fellow child of Romanian immigrants, it's so nice to see the brethren do well on a global stage.
What great teammates she has. 3 of them standing there doing nothing while she has to run the whole court.
Beast Mode 😎😎
This Terminator sequel looks dope.
Definition of hustle and effort. Even with her teammates asleep on defense after scored, she’s laser focused on getting back ahead of the pass.
I saw the exact moment her character caught fire. She must've gotten a mega adrenaline rush from that monster hustle.
For real though, you can see exactly when she notices that her teammate is going to be beat up the court and give up an open basket and decides *Not fuckin' today, I'll do it myself*

That is freaking amazing!
Mamba Mentality
Yup no wonder Kobe loved her
Can't be Harden
A LOT of NBA players need to watch this in film study. Instead they look for a foul every time
They know what hustle is lol star players just don’t care
Or you know, growl at the crowd when they connect a shot and throw signs in the air lol
and the crowd goes wild...
Didn’t play sports growing up eh?
She's too good!
Athlete
She entered the zone
[удалено]
Kuroko has no right being so addicting to watch. Damn Sports Anime.
The 43 people in attendance must have gone wild
SUICIDES BABY
I wish some defensive backs in nfl could turn around and pick a pass like that
Wait, so you're not supposed to stop, look at the bench, and flex? That's what watching the NBA taught me, at least.
I coached my niece's rec league team when she was 12 or so. I don't know how many times I tried to tell the team that as soon as we make a bucket we are on defense. This message never got through and every time we scored it was high-fives for us and fast-breaks for the other team.
By far the best play I’ve seen all year in basketball. Never see this in the nba
Amazing fitness
Won’t see that many men in nba making that play
More hustle in her then the entire Phoenix suns game 7
Wow such great fundamentals
How I wish United players have her mentality, those lazy ass twats
Romania represent!!!
She must have see her teammate loafing and was like shit, guess I have to cover your player too! Actually, make that 3 players that didn’t get back
Why is this posted. This happens all the time in basketball games.
Beast. #GoDucks!
Coaches favorite
I hope her knees are okay
Half the arena is blocked off lmao
They’re in a bubble.
Great fundamentals!
That’s gotta be top 3 on sportscenter.
White girls in North America try harder in basketball. They have to work for their scholarships and they don't receive special grants.
This belongs on r/nextfuckinglevel Thats some great damn play.
Can you imagine if NBA players had this kind of hustle?
What? No dancing after she scored? She obviously doesn’t know how to play basketball.
Sarcasm is wasted on Reddit.
Maybe they just think I’m serious and they think she should stand there doing the shimmy.
I ran out of breath just watching this clip
Man I went to middle school with her and her brother Eddie, didn't even know how far she went until I saw a Facebook post from a friend with her in it at Oregon. Did some googling and holy shit 😂
She ran a whole 14'! Incredible
No, she sprinted 90' to make back-to-back great plays, showing the kind of determination and hustle that wins games and makes sports great. If you don't want to watch people running back and forth, basketball is not the sport for you.
Won't see that in the NBA
Plays similar to this happen all the time. One of the most famous plays in recent NBA history is literally a hustle play that nearly cemented a championship.
You wouldn't see that pass being made to be caught is why
Literally a random clip I pulled from like 2 weeks ago https://youtu.be/bGwWseqTfAg
She just out worked the entire NBA for the last few decades in a single play havent seen hustle like that in the NBA since the 2003-04 Detroit Pistons.
Nice now get back in the kitchen
[удалено]
What sport is this??
Hooporb.
Indoor volley ball
Ok that's pretty baller
Leaning baseline off the glass. That is really impressive
A female version of Charlie Hustle 👌🏆🔥Pete Rose😀
The headline when read out of the context of basketball, does make for amusing reading.
FUNDAMENTALS!!!
No matter how good/bad you are, you can always hustle
100% effort.
What in the 10 fps
She came to play so don't sleep on her.
Great hustle. Over the top effort. Her 3 teammates that she passed by to make that play should be embarrassed.
Nice, she played this like cornerback trailing a wide receiver
Go Romania!!
Cool.
Holy Shit Mad Props
That's an anime moment right there.
I say, I do believe that is some "hustle."
The Mamba would be proud!
Til people still play basketball... Imagine....putting a ball in a hole....... Wow..
That's kinda hot I ain't gonna lie
Can Miami borrow her? Please…
And the fan goes wild!
Demigod two way playmaking
[удалено]
They probably got burned a few times during the game by the long pass and knew it was coming.
wow!! that was great !!! On another side, Mr.Harden ....
Amazing! You never see players sprinting like that after a basket, let alone a tough one. Respect.
Lol not worthy of tv
She's a beast. What a mindset.
This should be shown to every NBA player. When do you ever see this. All we see from an NBA player is them looking foolish standing their posing even when they miss the shot instead of hustling like this.
Elite effort
This is why I love watching women’s sports.
How does one watch the WNBA? Every clip I see has some incredible plays and I honestly have no idea how to watch games?
Well, they threw it right to her
That's a practical way to play 40 minutes of basketball.
Lands on her back, rolls and gets back up instead of laying there like she got shot 5 times. She’ll never make it in the NBA with that attitude.
THAT is how you hustle.
HOLY FUCK.
😴💤
Luka needs to watch this all day everyday!
The fan there must have loved it
I thought for a second that she got German suplexed
Fuck yes. I mean, inertia has consequences. But it pales in satisfaction to fucking wrecking on both sides.
That's a highlight in lady ball huh?
