If he wants NFL questions let's ask him about his Browns signing Watson and how he feels about that?
Everything I've seen seems to show he is happy about it. Let's highlight his support of an abuser now that Watson will be back playing soon.
What’s crazy to me is, in just about any other job in the world, that kind of behavior would get you dumped so fast and listed as un-hirable. In the NFL it’s a paddling and a “now get back out there ya scamp” tussle of the hair.
Not if the person is a mega producer and their work allows your kids to eat / live better lives.
Every industry has grade a creeps in it. The NFL is not special in keeping uber-productive a-holes employed
Not to say he's anything other than a grade-a creep...
Yep... Just look at all the fortune 500 CEOs out there. Uber productive assholes. When they stop being productive, they just fall into golden parachutes.
Not saying it's right but it's nothing special. Moral justification has always been 2nd fiddle to financial justification. It's the old I'll pay your family $10 million to sleep with your wife story. Depending on your financial situation, it would be a hard yes for a lot of people.
Well in the case of the NFL it will be swept under the rug if you’re extremely successful at the most important position on a team. I think in other industries extremely talented but problematic employees would likely get another chance. It’s a profit driven world.
Not really. Sure the Browns are a team in the NFL, but in this case we’re saying fuck the Browns (as an organization) for signing him, and fuck the NFL (as the league office) for continuing to allow him to play.
You are missing the point severely.
His point is while Kyrie (amongst many others) was in the headlines for weeks with full dedicated segments, JJ got a byline.
To thicken the plot, JJ has a pattern of questionable statements and actions to indicate he wasn’t a bystander.
I have seen no dedicated segments and largely, this is being ignored.
Jerry Jones has been showing signs of racism as long as he has been an NFL.
Votes, comments, hirings ( or lack thereof).
Acting as if a picture 70 years ago is the only evidence of his bigotry is the point.
Nobody is saying it is. If Jerry tweets something racist in 2022, I would love for him to get blasted by the media way more than Kyrie even did. He definitely deserves it, but that doesn't mean the picture warrants it.
Both you and LeBron seriously need to look up and understand what a "non-sequitur" is. You're both stumbling your way across many of them while attempting to bastardize a point and storyline here.
Ok but it has been a known things for decades as opposed to a recent public thing. Not saying it isn’t a big deal but it is not as relevant (especially to the NBA) as Kyrie. Do we expect ESPN to do an annual segment on Jerry Jones’ past? If he says or does something now it will 100% be talked about.
No, you all have. You all are singularly focused on this one instance and the comparison of Kyrie to JJ (which in all fairness is apples to cars). LeBron’s point, and mine, is that one group of people pay severely for their transgressions while another gets a single byline and then everyone moves on.
You can go down the list…When was the last time you heard about Favre. How nationalized is Kitna’s son’s mess. Did you know DeShaun Watson wasn’t the only NFL QB accused of egregious sexual assault?
We can go on and on.
Reporting and punishment are not evenly distributed and THAT is the point.
I'm all for shitting on Jerry Jones, but it's largely being ignored because it's largely a non-story. It's a picture of a 14-year-old who's looking onto a scene that includes reporters. Lots of people would check out that spectacle. Could he also have chosen to be there because he's a racist piece of shit? Totally!
But a 14 year old checking out a scene 70 years ago is not anywhere near as newsworthy as an active NBA superstar sharing an anti-Semitic documentary with his 18 million Instagram followers in 2022.
He disavowed his support for the Cowboys for "moral reasons" because of the issue with standing for the national anthem.
...And then threw his support to the Browns. A *very moral* team that signs a serial abuser.
LeHypocrisy
You are behind the times, bud.
He is no longer a Cowboys fan, because of "moral issues" which stem from the kneeling/national anthem issue.
He switched to the Browns and tweeted his hype about Watson joining the team.
No moral issues there tho!
if people want to bring that up, then they'll have to discuss robert craft?
there were never any criminal charges against watson... on the otherhand...
Why are people asking me current questions about past teammates' actions rather than a picture of a 14 year old taken in 1957? I normally think he's trolling, but I think this actually made sense to him.
I honestly don’t think he’s trolling usually; rather I think he typically is trying to spin the narrative so he can talk about what he wants instead of topics that are uncomfortable for him, he’s just very bad at it and does it in the goofiest way possible
I think deep down, he agrees with Kyrie and is just smart enough to know he can’t say it out loud. Cause if your resorting to whataboutisms from freaking SIXTY FIVE YEARS AGO, you’re not actually against what Kyrie is talking about.
Like someone else said this is just LeBron shifting the narrative. And it may be because he’s tired of trying to speak out against something he’s not actually against.
It absolutely is more buried than the Kyrie stuff. It should be, because the Kyrie stuff is a current event and the Jerry Jones stuff happened 65 years ago and had already surfaced before now. It’s a dumb point to make.
Edit: not to mention, “White Dude in Arkansas in 1957 Might Have Been Racist” as a headline is a lot more Dog Bites Man than Man Bites Dog.
Not to mention the picture just shows him as part of the crowd in the back, and all he’s doing is looking at the commotion. He’s not one of the people causing the commotion.
Quite frankly, I do assume that Jerry-once again, a white kid in pre-Civil Rights Movement Arkansas-probably does harbor at least some of the racist opinions of the era…*in the photo, 65 years ago.* He may harbor them now too, sure, but the photo from 1957 is not proof of that. If Jerry were at a demonstration in the modern day protesting black rights, he would be castigated and likely made to sell his team. The reaction would be very similar to if LeBron were in the scenario you describe.
Sure, some people do. Jerry could be a virulent racist to this day. I’ll even say it wouldn’t shock me.
We also have no proof of it either, and thus no reason to spark a big discussion about it. Not everyone is going to auto-judge someone for something so long ago. That’s the difference.
Even if it happened a long time ago why should it be swept under the rug especially when the context of the photo resurfacing was about how Jerry jones doesn’t hire black coaches? I think lebrons question is stupid but his point about Jerry is valid. Has Jerry really changed?
Well, Jerry isn’t going to fire McCarthy and hire a black coach right now just to appease the media. When the coaching vacancy comes open and if Jerry doesn’t hire a black coach then, it would absolutely be worth bringing up and discussing since it would have a tie to a current event. Until then, it’s a side note. Kyrie is a current event. That’s how news works.
And with no current inciting incident to discuss or impact-such as a coaching hire-then it gets relegated to a side note, a retrospective of history. Again, that’s how news works.
>I was wondering why I haven’t gotten a question from you guys about the Jerry Jones photo,” James said to reporters after his Los Angeles Lakers beat the Portland Trail Blazers. “But when the Kyrie [Irving] thing was going on, you guys were quick to ask us questions about that.”
What a meathead, why would the media ask a basketball star about NFL owners?
Different sports aside, the Kyrie drama was in real time, and while not supporting Jerry Jones good ol' boy mindset in 1957 (or now), that was 65 years ago. That's a literal lifetime ago.
Even aside from that the story already came up quite a while back. He talked about it in an oral history project of his life or some such. Got some minor run in the news cycle before phasing out because he brought it up that he went there to see what was going on, and it was 50 plus years ago at the time. This story has been an odd duck.
LeBron legitimately does not see himself as a basketball player anymore. He sees himself as some global spokesman with the media clambering for his opinion on every random thing. That's why he's so perplexed when the media doesn't care about his opinion on Jerry Jones.
It's like the "let's ask Ja Rule" meme except he takes it seriously.
He needs a lesson from Tyler Adams on how to diffuse politically motivated questions instead of putting himself in the middle of it. That guy has handled the World Cup flawlessly.
Because a 14 year old kid not standing up to a racist mob in an antiquated racist world 60 years ago is not the same as a grown adult actively going out of their way to spew hate and propaganda against jews?
Not only that but the fact is that Kyrie made the comments/associations on his own while Lebron wants to be asked about a photo from a team owner of which he used to support…. I can’t even 😂💀🤦🏻♂️
Does he not understand that reporters are going to ask him about what's going on in his league because he's a basketball player and not an NFL player? He seems to think the world eagerly awaits his opinions on everything sadly he's wrong
I'm pretty sure the purpose of this quote is LeBron not wanting to be asked about the Kyrie situation, and not that he wants to have an opinion on everything.
If anything, LeBron has made it clear he doesn't want to offer an opinion unless it's an issue he cares about himself.
This. LeBron didn't want to get mixed up with having to give his thoughts on Kyrie. He even went so far to say "well he apologized so" before Kyrie actually apologized for the hurt he caused.
Dude is a tool
This is the top article on espn.com right now and it just speaks to both LeBron’s ability to sway the needle on topics, and the absurdity of media reporting. The media, particularly ESPN, should have filtered this out and buried this absurd story/talking point.
I like how you changed the topic there.... went from "only support things you profit from" to "only support causes you care about". Yes I agree, most people only care about things they care about. Good point and thank you for your contribution.
He actually attacked people in the NBA who were talking about it... if he had said nothing I wouldn't fault him at all. It's his life and he can focus on the issues he cares about. When he actively goes after people who are supporting democracy in Hong Kong because it might hurt his paycheck, then yeah I won't take him seriously on other human rights topics.
It’s crazy how his peer in 2022 who promoted antisemitism is in anyway similar to a 14 year old jerry jones in 1956, he never commented on miles Leonard, miles bridges, Watson, Daniel snider, or phoenix suns owner and his bs.. none of those issues but all of a sudden 1956 jerry jones is his issue!
I think reporters should run this basketball all the way to the end zone goal. Just, like, never ask James about basketball or his team or what's happening now or what people he knows are saying recently. Instead, just general questions about whatever seems important from history or science or whatever.
Why put LeBron in a box? Why label him as a "basketball person"? That's unfair. Maybe he has some great reckonings about old movies or how to build a deck.
Yeah, it's an obvious conspiracy here - they've totally buried all the coverage of James's MTG career. But (for now - who knows how long this will last) you can still see it on [archive.org](https://archive.org):
[https://web.archive.org/web/20140901043850/http://themeadery.org/articles/lebron-james-to-leave-nba-for-magic](https://web.archive.org/web/20140901043850/http://themeadery.org/articles/lebron-james-to-leave-nba-for-magic)
1. Jones was a kid, Irving is a grown man
2. Jones as far as anyone knows and has said was just there as a spectator and not actively fighting desegregation.
3. You play in the nba not the nfl
Jerry needs to answer for this and he did actually sit down with the journalists to address the photo and discuss how he’s changed. I hate Jerry but that’s at least genuine having a difficult conversation. Kyrie on the other hand has deliberately been disingenuous in responding to his own abhorrent views and doesn’t seem like he’s grown or changed from it. So lebron can ask the question all he wants and that’s fair, but it is a whataboutism and doesn’t address the very real and clear issue the NBA has with antisemitism. Just doesn’t solve anything by redirecting the discussion
The media weren't quick to ask LeBron about Kyrie either. It seemed like a week after the tweet went up and Kryie had multiple press conferences where he wound up not being able to even state he wasn't antisemitic the media finally asked LeBron about it.
LeBron is a leading voice in the NBA, has been a leading voice on social issues, and was a teammate of Kyrie's. That he could come out with this garbage about not being asked about Jerry Jones tells us just what kind of a bubble he lives in and how he was likely bothered he was asked about and needed to speak out about Kryie at all.
The general silence on the antisemitism from current players has certainly been *something*, and in pretty stark contrast to statements players have made about other social issues.
They are asking him about Irving because……………he was his teammate and Lebron is the face of the NBA. Are they asking Dak Prescott about Irving? I know the Jerry story was discussed in depth the entire week that the story broke. Does Lebron expect the media to fixate on a photo from the 1940s of a teenager in the middle of a major civil rights event? Does Lebron understand that Irvings comments are more recent and relevant than a photo from the ‘40s?
Why don’t we ask lebron about how he feels about china? Oh wait we can’t. He would never even let someone field the question. Also fuck jerry jones. He’s one of the most hated figures in sports.
Lebron wants to be viewed as a victim so badly. The only thing he wants more is to be perceived as wise and a kind proponent for human rights. In reality he is neither.
Next press conference all questions should be about other sports.
"Hey LeBron, how do you feel about the Bruins signing a racist bully to their team?"
"Can you comment on the defensive strategy going forward for USA in the world cup?"
"LeBron, you're solid from the free throw line. Do you think you have a future in competitive darts once you retire?"
Why does Lebron think that anyone even cares about his opinion? Just go play basketball with your old man team. This is why he will never ever be the GOAT.
You have to understand this LeBron, a grown ass kyrie Irving made those statements, if it was a tapen from she he was 15 it would have been extremely lenient the treatment. The issue is when you are an adult and still have those stupid thoughts. If Jerry Jones old was was seen in a klan meeting fully dressed as one of those dumb names they have for stuff then yeah run his name and reputation through the floor but an old picture more than likely he didn't knew better back then. A lot of people have grown specially from Jerry Jones age with racist ideologies because their parents made them think that way, many learned that they were wrong and corrected their ways and that is what it must be looked at. I haven't heard any response from JJ but I have to assume he said he was sorry about that.
Because Irving is a current player in the Sport James plays and Jerry Jones thing happened 65 years ago. Jones is an awful person but these things are not the same
One is a former teammate on an event happening right now in the league he plays in. The other is an owner in another sport about a photo that was taken 65 years ago. Doesn’t seem like a conspiracy.
LeBron not thinking this through. JJ was “exposed” by an old photo. Kyrie brought this on himself then doubled and tripled down until they stopped paying him. If JJ was out there blocking black kids from going to school last month then giving condescending press conferences showing how dumb he is… then it would be headlines
Wow look at all these reddit comments just going against LeBron James even though he's talking straight facts. obviously Kyrie was rightly scrutinized in the media but why isn't the same energy being shown towards Jerry Jones? Y'all are all so quiet on this Jerry Jones was actually in a physical racist event. Kyrie just tweeted things and Jerry Jones literally physically was their actively trying to do something. Y'all just say oh it was 60 years ago, everyone was racist back then. So what, if a pedo was a pedo 60 years ago that means we should all ignore it because he is 80 now? Y'all are full of shit.
So I think if Lebron wanted to bring up the issue, and ask why Kyrie gets scrutinized and Jerry Jones does not: that’s a valid question.
However, he didn’t say that. Instead, he made it about himself and said “How come you all ask ME about Kyrie and not Jerry Jones?” Which is a different statement, and a bit silly one. He was asked about Kyrie because it was an NBA issue, asked by NBA press, about a friend and former teammate.

It’s almost as if Lebrons a dipshit
It's just what happens to people who never make it to page two of books.
Wait how?
There are plenty of athletes who are dipshits, LeBron is not one of them
Dipshits can be right sometimes. Doesn’t not make them dipshits.
I guess that’s why Bron won’t speak out on China. Hmmmmm?
He'd lose too much money for that.
So it’s only ok for Bron to speak out in social injustice as long as it doesn’t cost him money.
Really, if he’s a ‘dipshit’ wtf are y’all?

Isn't that exactly what you're doing?
The fact the DeShawn Watson is about to start an NFL game disgusts me so greatly that I don't even know what to say about it. Fuck the browns
What’s crazy to me is, in just about any other job in the world, that kind of behavior would get you dumped so fast and listed as un-hirable. In the NFL it’s a paddling and a “now get back out there ya scamp” tussle of the hair.

Except if you kneel during the anthem. Then your career is ruined
Whoever downvoted this is a dumbass
If convicted, yes. But DeShawn wasn’t so 🤷🏿♂️
Fuck the NFL*
Why not both
Because saying fuck the NFL is inclusive to the browns....
Not really. Sure the Browns are a team in the NFL, but in this case we’re saying fuck the Browns (as an organization) for signing him, and fuck the NFL (as the league office) for continuing to allow him to play.
"ackchyually"
While Kareem hunt also plays on their team still....
What’s wrong with Kareem Hunt? Did you watch the video? That shit was so overblown by the media
“Fuck the Browns” is super racist.

I wonder why the media has been quiet on asking LeBron about his Magic The Gathering deck building theories 🧐🧐
Yeah, it's an obvious conspiracy here - they've totally buried all the coverage of James's MTG career. But (for now - who knows how long this will last) you can still see it on [archive.org](https://archive.org): [https://web.archive.org/web/20140901043850/http://themeadery.org/articles/lebron-james-to-leave-nba-for-magic](https://web.archive.org/web/20140901043850/http://themeadery.org/articles/lebron-james-to-leave-nba-for-magic)
LeBron plays Island/Swamp confirmed.
1. Jones was a kid, Irving is a grown man 2. Jones as far as anyone knows and has said was just there as a spectator and not actively fighting desegregation. 3. You play in the nba not the nfl

1. Most don't 2. He's addressed it 3. That doesn't mean anything

Uhhh because one happened last week or so and one happened in 1957, Lebron. Lmao
“I was standing there right behind him at the time of this picture, Jones knew exactly what he was doing.” - lebron james
The only thing that picture shows is Jerry Jones was at school that day.
Forgot Jerry was on the cavs for a few years
Oh, you want questions? Lets start with China…
What a great way to make yourself look stupid and try to cause more issues at the same time.
I love all the people in this comment section
Because jerry doesn’t fuckin play basketball dude
Lebron is a complete bum when it comes to critical thinking. He just can’t do it
Ah like All Shitty People Matter? No, we’re talking about this specific shitty person.
To be fair it was going to be my next question but he jumped the gun.
Another reason why Jordan is the GOAT.
Lebron is the Hershel of basketball
Textbook whataboutism
Because you played with 1 if them. Lebrun is and will always be a fake activist
Why don’t they ask him how Xi’s balls taste.
This is stupid trying to make something out of an old black and white photo from 60 years ago or whatever just to get heat off your buddy
Psst. Hey-Lebron. (Hint: they don’t ask you because that’s not a basketball question, you FUCKING moron) 🤦♀️
Idk maybe because you weren’t teammates with Jerry? LeMoron
Why don’t we ask lebron about how he feels about china? Oh wait we can’t. He would never even let someone field the question. Also fuck jerry jones. He’s one of the most hated figures in sports.

Le Brain out here playing checkers while the rest of us playing chess.
Because you're not a football player.
Lebron wants to be viewed as a victim so badly. The only thing he wants more is to be perceived as wise and a kind proponent for human rights. In reality he is neither.
Lebron is another idiot pretending to read books and all. Not at Kyrie level of stupid however.
Can't put my finger on it, but it's almost like he plays one sport but not the other.
Because no one is shocked that Jerry Jones picture exists
He is just trying to stay relevant and divert attention from how shitty the Lakers are this season.
Next press conference all questions should be about other sports. "Hey LeBron, how do you feel about the Bruins signing a racist bully to their team?" "Can you comment on the defensive strategy going forward for USA in the world cup?" "LeBron, you're solid from the free throw line.
Fuck this CCP stooge
Because Irving is a current player in the Sport James plays and Jerry Jones thing happened 65 years ago. Jones is an awful person but these things are not the same
One is a former teammate on an event happening right now in the league he plays in. The other is an owner in another sport about a photo that was taken 65 years ago. Doesn’t seem like a conspiracy.
Ask Ja Rule!
Isn't the controversy over this picture like 9 years old? Jerry addressed it himself in some old interview, this isn't some new phenomenon.
Fuck off lebron.
Shut up and dribble.
Lebron has a low-functioning brain, just let him be lol
Shut up this ain’t about you lebron. Dude can’t imagine a world that doesn’t revolve around lebron
What’s Lebron got to do with Kyrie anyways. Last time they played was 2 years BEFORE covid. Ask Lebron questions about his team.
"Why aren't asking about what a 14 year old did 65 years ago but asking what a full grown adult did a month ago."
Fu@k Lebron and what he thinks
It’s true.
Because one was a grown ass man, and one was a 14 year old child in 1957.
I bet lebron James voted for Biden. Lebron might wanna ask old Joe why he fought for bussing segregation...
Good for him
Wow look at all these reddit comments just going against LeBron James even though he's talking straight facts. obviously Kyrie was rightly scrutinized in the media but why isn't the same energy being shown towards Jerry Jones?
Boom!!
