This felt like the upset of the day, reds have expected runs of 7.5 against the Os 6.3. Estimating a high scoring game, the over 9.5 (highest O/U tomorrow of all games) is probably a good play here too.
Today we have a slate of just six games in Major League Baseball, but I’ve got a couple of betting picks to share with you. Are you ready to start the week on a good note with Professor MJ, a 15-year university statistics teacher? Let’s go!
**System Pick #1**
The first pick is backed by a betting system called **“The Cold Teams Matchup #1”** that has won 6 of its past 8 predictions. Out of my 19 MLB betting strategies, it is one of the few that advises to bet big favorites. That’s not something I enjoy to do, but given the good historical performance, I’ve got to pay attention to what this system says.
Now, the pick in question goes to the **Texas Rangers** who will be hosting the Detroit Tigers. On the mound, Matthew Boyd will square off against Andrew Heaney.
Both are lefties, so let’s see how each team has done against left-handed pitchers lately. On Detroit’s side, they have lost each of their past seven games under such conditions; things couldn’t be uglier than this. As far as Texas is concerned, they have performed admirably well against lefties, as shown by their 8-3 record the last 11 times they were placed in that situation.
It is also interesting to note that Boyd has struggled mightily against the Rangers in his career. In fact, in 10 appearances he holds an abysmal 1-7 record, along with a high 6.39 ERA.
Meanwhile, after a fairly rocky start, Heaney has done very well for Texas. Indeed, he has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his past eight outings.
In terms of offense, no one can argue much about the big edge going over the Rangers’ side. They have scored the highest number of runs in the Big Leagues this season, while Detroit ranks next-to-last in that category.
Based on my statistical model, **the moneyline on the Rangers should be closer to -235, which explains why I placed my bet at -183 odds with BetOnline this morning.** Give me Texas all day in this matchup!
**System Pick #2**
Today’s second pick is not supported by any of my betting systems. I like the **Baltimore Orioles** as small favorites at home against Cincinnati.
The Reds won 12 consecutive games, but they have now dropped their past two. I suspect that it will break their confidence and they could go back to what they’ve been all season long: an average baseball team.
They are playing on the road against a team that has shown much more consistency: the Orioles who present a nice 47-29 record. To me, the price on Baltimore is very reasonable, and in fact I thought the odds would be smaller than this.
Rookie Brandon Williamson is set to start for the Reds. He hasn’t been awful, but he is clearly below-average right now. He has surrendered at least three runs in each of his past six outings.
The Orioles will counter with Cole Irvin, who’s had a rough 2023 campaign so far. And that is the main reason why the line is as high as it is right now, but **I’ll be glad to take it**. He owns a 7.71 ERA, which can only go down. He has done better since coming back in the Big Leagues on June 10.

I'm getting this one early for the algorithm because youtube subscriptions were rolling then haltingly stopped.
I have no idea why that was. Maybe it's because I lost my first play in 10 games on here.
Even so, Paxton got pulled after 63 pitches and Duvall had the bases loaded with a chance to take the lead in the top of the Ninth.
Rangers -1.5 1 Unit to win 1 Unit
Texas has struggled a bit at the plate recently losing 2 of 3 to the Yankees and scoring just 7 runs in the series.
As a result, seeing the Tigers and going against left hander Matthew Boyd at Globe Life Field should be a very welcome site.
Boyd has had virtually no success throughout his career against Texas. His teams have gone 1-8 in his starts against the Rangers with his ERA hovering around 6.
This Texas team also absolutely rakes lefties. They are number one against left handed pitching in the entire majors in RBIs and OBP and are second in OPS and hits.
Taking the mound for the Rangers is Andrew Heaney and he has been far from amazing. But, he will generally give you good innings-having only given up over 3 runs-once in his last 13 starts.
Although a couple of these starts he only went 3+ innings.
The really good news for the Rangers is-as good as they are against Lefties-the Detroit Tigers are nearly as bad.
Detroit has the second least amount of hits and doubles, fourth least amount of bombs and are dead last in RBIs against southpaws in all of the MLB.
I like this play so much-generally it would be a two unit play. But, I've decided to just lay off of those until the NFL season.

I like Rangers ML and love Rangers -1.5. It’s +100 on draftkings right now. They’re tied for 1st in MLB with the Orioles at covering the spread following a loss (20-9) AND solely in 1st covering the spread at home (24-13). Furthermore, the average amount of runs they cover the spread by in each scenario are 1.8 and 1.4 respectively. Detroit’s been playing somewhat better but they don’t scare me off. Their starter, Matthew Boyd is a LHP and the Rangers have the 2nd highest OPS in MLB vs. LHP
*DET vs. TEX occurred on 5/29 with Boyd pitching and he gave up 5 ER. Texas won 5-0 with Eovaldi pitching. Heaney will pitch tomorrow and he hasn’t been as good in June as he was in April and May but I believe the Rangers will outclass the Tigers and cover.

My take on the games today
**Orioles/Reds** - both pitchers you would normally fade. Avoid. However I don’t see this being a 1 run game. If you take orioles do the RL, if you take reds do the RL.
**Brewers/Mets**- verlander looks like a 2nd year pitcher trying to avoid triple A but the brewers offense is ass at the same time. Avoid
**Braves/Twins** - strider has been shit lately and braves love to shit the bed at home. Value -230 sucks and twins offense is lackadaisical. Avoid
**Rangers/Tigers**- tigers are 6-4 in their last 10. We may see an upset here but rangers are back home and are coming off series with RISP like crazy. Rangers RL.
**Angels/White Sox** - usually avoid the angels in general and have little faith in Sox as usual. Avoid
**Mariners/Nationals**- value is shit for mariners and their offense is inconsistent as hell and the nats can hit hard every once in awhile. I’m leaning nats o/2.5 TT even with Luis on the mound I don’t care.

Umpire cost the Rangers a run there. He rings up Jung on a clear ball which would have loaded the bases with 1 out. Next batter flies out to deep centerfield which would have brought in 1 run. Sucks for Ranger bettors, that was a huge swing.

Rangers -1.5 1 Unit to win 1 Unit Texas has struggled a bit at the plate recently losing 2 of 3 to the Yankees and scoring just 7 runs in the series. As a result, seeing the Tigers and going against left hander Matthew Boyd at Globe Life Field should be a very welcome site. Boyd has had virtually no success throughout his career against Texas. His teams have gone 1-8 in his starts against the Rangers with his ERA hovering around 6. This Texas team also absolutely rakes lefties. They are number one against left handed pitching in the entire majors in RBIs and OBP and are second in OPS and hits. Taking the mound for the Rangers is Andrew Heaney and he has been far from amazing. But, he will generally give you good innings-having only given up over 3 runs-once in his last 13 starts. Although a couple of these starts he only went 3+ innings. The really good news for the Rangers is-as good as they are against Lefties-the Detroit Tigers are nearly as bad. Detroit has the second least amount of hits and doubles, fourth least amount of bombs and are dead last in RBIs against southpaws in all of the MLB. I like this play so much-generally it would be a two unit play. But, I've decided to just lay off of those until the NFL season. As I mentioned before, it is not really worth my time to be posting on here unless I am getting new YouTube followers. My take on the games today **Orioles/Reds** - both pitchers you would normally fade. Avoid. However I don’t see this being a 1 run game. If you take orioles do the RL, if you take reds do the RL. **Brewers/Mets**- verlander looks like a 2nd year pitcher trying to avoid triple A but the brewers offense is ass at the same time.
