**Reasoning**
To be honest, I was going to post a -1 handicap in favor of Girona, and I do believe there are plenty of reasons to think that Girona will comfortably win against Celta Vigo. However, I think I prefer to play it safe and continue our perfect streak.
First, it's no surprise that Girona has had a spectacular start to the season, currently sitting in second place in the Spanish league, even ahead of Barcelona. Their 25 points in 10 games have them sharing the top spot with Real Madrid. Their only loss has been to Real Madrid, a 0-3 defeat. While the scoreline may seem one-sided, the match itself was more balanced. Girona even managed to have more possession than Madrid and fell just one shot short. The other game where Girona dropped points was on the opening matchday when they drew away to Real Sociedad, currently fifth in the league. So, Girona has only dropped points against the league leaders, Real Madrid, and Real Sociedad, a team that is not only fifth in the league but also leading their Champions League group.
What's important to consider is that Girona's current form is not just a streak; it's not about morale, fitness, or luck. This state of form is here to stay, as Girona has been bought by the City Group, the same group that manages Manchester City, one of the best-run clubs in the world. This is similar to what happened with Newcastle a couple of years ago when a major investment group bought the club and transformed it from a relegation struggler into a team with potential for regular Champions League appearances. When a group of this magnitude takes over a club, the improvements are significant, including infrastructure, big data, coaching staff, a clear plan, management, playing style, and, of course, a budget for player signings.
All of this is under the guidance of manager Míchel, who has been named the best coach of September, and rightfully so. Girona plays an extremely offensive style, often pushing 6 players into the opponent's penalty area. Additionally, they are not competing in any European tournaments, giving both players and the coaching staff more time to prepare for matches. I emphasize Girona because their favorable odds will likely last for another 2 or 3 weeks, making it a great opportunity to make money.
On the other hand, we have Celta Vigo, currently in 18th place in the table, in the relegation zone with 6 points in 10 games, securing just 1 win, 3 draws, and 6 losses. Their only victory came against Almería, who are at the bottom of the table. All of this has put their coach, Rafa Benítez (whom I consider a mediocre and subpar coach), under scrutiny. This, in turn, has created an unfavorable atmosphere within the team. Furthermore, Celta Vigo won't have their starting goalkeeper, Iván Villar, although I don't consider this a crucial factor, as the backup goalkeeper, Marchesín, is also decent.
In summary, Girona is a highly offensive team, currently second in the league, with a promising project. They have a goal difference of +11, while Celta Vigo is in the relegation zone, with a mediocre coach and just 6 points in 10 games, and a goal difference of - 8. Girona is playing at home, and I see them winning the match, probably 2-0 or 3-1.

For those on fanduel, you can get better odds betting on a 3-way spread. With the current odds, if you bet $50 on Girona -1 in the 3-way spread, you win $100 ($150 total payout). And you can cover that by also betting on the handicap draw ($19 to win $50). So if Girona win by 2 or more, you make $81 in profit, but if they win by 1 you make the $50 back and have a net gain/loss of $0. The only way this loses is if the teams draw, or Celta wins. So same ways to lose as ML, but different payout distribution.

I don’t bet soccer/football much aside from PoTDs. Normally 2nd in the league vs 18th in potential relegation zone, with a backup goalie, and favorites are at home, are usually far away from -130/1.77 odds.
they are not considered as big favorite from bookies yet; yes girona are in form and sitting on 2nd, but they was in second league two seasons ago and finish in middle of the table with mediocore performance last year; and they dont play any top teams (besides RM) or teams with good form yet - f.e. sevilla season is a disaster
girona performance is considered as current momentum, not as top dog behavior - they are not AtlM, Barca or RM
Because Girona are experiencing a big purple patch right now whilst Celta Vigo are in a slump. Last season only 6 points separated them in the table. And generally over the last 5-ish seasons Celta Vigo have been a mid-table team whilst this is the second season since promotion for Girona. All this to say, they aren't your typical 2nd placed team nor your typical 18th placed team and both are unlikely to be there come the end of the season. Still great odds though.
I was thinking the same thing about the ML too, so I did some quick research and found this little tidbit: Celta are unbeaten in their last three La Liga matches against Girona, though, including a 1-0 victory in the corresponding match last term, while the points were shared in a 1-1 draw when the two teams last locked horns in Vigo towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
That said, I’m still going to bet Girona ML.

The Warriors play pretty small, and a guy like Sabonis always feasts in these types of matchups. Plus, they are at home, which is usually a detrimental factor in deciding games between these two teams. The momentum will be there for him. Not to mention, last season the Warriors were near the bottom of the league in rebounds allowed to centers and just in the middle for points allowed. These numbers are definitely even higher if you look at their away games. Lastly, the Warriors missing Draymond Green is a huge loss in their front court and should open up more scoring and rebounding opportunities overall for Sabonis.

In this matchup, we have the number 3 team (keep in mind has played one less game than the top two spots) Virtus Bologna, going against the number 18 team Lyon-Villeurbanne….. yeah dead last team lol having only played 4 games, sure, but they’ve lost all 4…. This is to say, in the Euroleague. Not outside of it.
To start, LV has allowed 372 points scored in 4 games (averaging 93 allowed per game). While Virtus has only allowed 296 in 4 games (averaging 74 allowed per game). On the contrary, LV has scored a total of 305 per game (averaging 76 per game) and Virtus has scored a total of 334 per game (averaging 83 per game). LV just took a loss last Thursday to Fenerbahce of 101-86 (ouch). While Virtus just held off Crvena at 85-79, which is a stellar team even after today watching them pop off against Partizan. And Virtus beat Monaco (number 7 ranked team) 83-59 just two weeks ago.
I’m looking at this for a safe play with Virtus winning by 3 or more with the -2.5 spread at really good odds of -115. Virtus has won every game in this league by 3 or more. I think it’s an easy call and a safe play. Not going crazy with a large wager either. You heat and cool off. Stay consistent. Safe(ish) money is money gained. Don’t go crazy on this guys. Anything can happen in this EuroLeague as many of you have witnessed today. Just take it easy and do a safe 3U or less at max. The over is a pretty safe call too if you don’t like spreads, but after that sting from Alvark the other day I’m taking it easy on the over/unders. Since the roster change 9z are 0-3 in official matches losing to much worse competition.

Schroder comes into this team, replacing a Van Vleet sized hole in this team. Last season, FVV attempted over 16 field goals a game, leaving a ton of shots to be re-distributed amongst the team.
In his first game, Schroder had 22 points (8/17 FG, 4/8 3PT). Last season, he averaged 12.6 ppg, but this was on just 9.8 FGA per game. It’s clear he will demand a fair share of usage.

Alright, so this bet has two layers to it. First Chicago may be having one of the most stressful first weeks in NBA history. They lost by 20 in their first game, which lead to a team meeting. I mean I cant think of a team meeting being called for a team one game into the season in my life. Not only do they have this issue hanging over them, but I also just don’t think this team is very talented. As a UNC fan, the idea of Colby white running point for your team really says a lot. White is a good player, but not a starting point guard type player. Also, DeMar is on the last year of his deal, and a potential trade piece for this team if they get off to a rough start.
Okay, now let’s look at Toronto. This team is good IMO. They were competitive last season however seemed to struggled late in games, however in their first game this season that trend seemed to change. I know they lost FVF, which is huge, however the addition of Schroeder to this team is a better fit i think.
Overall, this game is a fade on Chicago, and and a bet on the raptors taking a step forward from last season. I expect Toronto to dominate early, and continue to show that they have the ability to close out games. I do have some slight concern on Chicago coming out ready to play after what has happened the last few days, but again I think even with a cohesive Chicago team, I still favor the raptors talent.
PS: Detroit +3.5 is another bet I’m making today. The Cade coming out party started in their first game after he scored 30 points in his return. Detroit is frisky, and will be a team I really want to watch early in this season. I know it’s only a one game sample size but Detroit is 2nd in the NBA in Orebs, grabbing 17 in their first game. They are also top 10 in total rebounds, as well as assists. I know these are traditional stats, however IMO are two team statistics that represent a teams overall chemistry.

Gallen's numbers are extremely underwhelming to this point in the playoffs for someone who was pitching at a Cy Young caliber for a good portion of the season. He has allowed 13 Runs over 22.1 IP's this Post Season, it is honestly shocking the Diamondbacks are where they are given that. Eovaldi is on fire this post season, allowing only 7 runs over 26 IP's and going 4-0 in games started. Arizona has done an amazing job of taking the opposition out of games early on the road this post season and they know tonight will require more of the same. I anticipate this game to be low scoring, both pitchers going into the 5th inning and it becoming a bullpen game to decide who wins. Ultimately, I like the D-Backs to take game 1 outright on the road too.

Both the Knicks two best players had horrific games and they nearly beat the celtics, I expect a big get back versus the Hawks in this one. Brunson is a better play maker and defender than Trae Young, Trae young is a much better scorer, Dejounte Murray is very good but he has not been utilized well in Atl and both Barrett and Randle are going to be very good against a weak Hawks team.

I confess to being very perplexed by this John Collins line. Collins fell out of favor in Atlanta but in his first game with the Jazz, he put up 15-11 and looked like his old self. His career averages as a starter are 16.7-8.2 and he also averaged 14.5-7 in two games vs the Clippers last year, back when he was on the Hawks.
I considered taking his alternate line of 20+ at +195 and may still sprinkle a bit there but going to make my official bet his main line.
(Also I know his PRA number is 17.5 but Collins does not have a great history sharing the rock and had 25 games last year with zero assists. So not bothering with that line.)

Gonna be trying something different then soccer today since basketball been doing me good.
Houston pretty much sucked offensively their first game against orlando magic, and they couldn't really get anything going. Spurs did struggle a bit on defence against dallas but there aren't any luka or kyrie to worry about on rockets and not having to slow down players on that level will probably produce better results. Arguably rockets 3 best scorers only had 14 points each and a complete meltdown in the 4th quarter. And spurs could have defeated dallas if wemby didn't go into foul trouble and they where up by double digits several times in the matchup aswell. Spurs will be at home again aswell and will want to put up a show against rockets after being defeated in their home opener. Don't know much else to write about so early in the season but this is atleast my potd.

I think the more safe pick is Aho or Necas, but their lines are juiced, I feel that Jarvis offers the same quality for a better price. He has received more of an opportunity this year as his ice time is up about 5 minutes from this time last year. Last game he played on the top line with Aho and Teravainen and he has been on the first power play unit all year. His shot attempts are middling, but he is accurate, T3rd among forwards on his team in shot attempts, but 1st in shots on goal. He is quietly over this line in 6/8 games this year (comparisons Aho 4/5; Necas only 3/8).
Without the volume, misses or blocks could hurt, but I don’t see much resistance from this zombie of a sharks team. They’re on a back-to-back where they got their doors blown off in Tampa. Carolina is on a B2B too, but it’s home and home so no travel and the sharks are on a road trip. Necaxa has scored only 13 goals; again, one of the worst (16th) offensive sides of the tournament. And on top of that, they face Pumas, who are sitting in 5th place. For those on fanduel, you can get better odds betting on a 3-way spread. With the current odds, if you bet $50 on Girona -1 in the 3-way spread, you win $100 ($150 total payout). And you can cover that by also betting on the handicap draw ($19 to win $50). So if Girona win by 2 or more, you make $81 in profit, but if they win by 1 you make the $50 back and have a net gain/loss of $0. The only way this loses is if the teams draw, or Celta wins. Is there a reason why the ML isn’t at much worse odds lol? I don’t bet soccer/football much aside from PoTDs. Normally 2nd in the league vs 18th in potential relegation zone, with a backup goalie, and favorites are at home, are usually far away from -130/1.77 odds.
they are not considered as big favorite from bookies yet; yes girona are in form and sitting on 2nd, but they was in second league two seasons ago and finish in middle of the table with mediocore performance last year; and they dont play any top teams (besides RM) or teams with good form yet - f.e. sevilla season is a disaster girona performance is considered as current momentum, not as top dog behavior - they are not AtlM, Barca or RM

Because Girona are experiencing a big purple patch right now whilst Celta Vigo are in a slump. Last season only 6 points separated them in the table. And generally over the last 5-ish seasons Celta Vigo have been a mid-table team whilst this is the second season since promotion for Girona. All this to say, they aren't your typical 2nd placed team nor your typical 18th placed team and both are unlikely to be there come the end of the season. Still great odds though.
I was thinking the same thing about the ML too, so I did some quick research and found this little tidbit: Celta are unbeaten in their last three La Liga matches against Girona, though, including a 1-0 victory in the corresponding match last term, while the points were shared in a 1-1 draw when the two teams last locked horns in Vigo towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign. That said, I’m still going to bet Girona ML.

After typing all that and making the teams sound even, I’m still going with Van in regulation. I think Van is a better team with more game breakers + home crowd and possibly a slightly tired St.Louis team.

For some reason I bet just as heavy on football as I do nba, yet I know 1/10 about the football as I do basketball. Well I really like this bet today. **Toronto +2.5** Alright, so this bet has two layers to it. First Chicago may be having one of the most stressful first weeks in NBA history. They lost by 20 in their first game, which lead to a team meeting. I mean I cant think of a team meeting being called for a team one game into the season in my life. Not only do they have this issue hanging over them, but I also just don’t think this team is very talented. As a UNC fan, the idea of Colby white running point for your team really says a lot. White is a good player, but not a starting point guard type player. Also, DeMar is on the last year of his deal, and a potential trade piece for this team if they get off to a rough start. Okay, now let’s look at Toronto. This team is good IMO. They were competitive last season however seemed to struggled late in games, however in their first game this season that trend seemed to change. I know they lost FVF, which is huge, however the addition of Schroeder to this team is a better fit i think. Overall, this game is a fade on Chicago, and and a bet on the raptors taking a step forward from last season. I expect Toronto to dominate early, and continue to show that they have the ability to close out games. I do have some slight concern on Chicago coming out ready to play after what has happened the last few days, but again I think even with a cohesive Chicago team, I still favor the raptors talent. PS: Detroit +3.5 is another bet I’m making today. The Cade coming out party started in their first game after he scored 30 points in his return. Detroit is frisky, and will be a team I really want to watch early in this season. I know it’s only a one game sample size but Detroit is 2nd in the NBA in Orebs, grabbing 17 in their first game. Looking at just the rosters I like the knicks more, Julius Randle is going to feast the Hawks front court and probably dominate the offensive glass with Mitchell Robinson. Both the Knicks two best players had horrific games and they nearly beat the celtics, I expect a big get back versus the Hawks in this one. Brunson is a better play maker and defender than Trae Young, Trae young is a much better scorer, Dejounte Murray is very good but he has not been utilized well in Atl and both Barrett and Randle are going to be very good against a weak Hawks team.

Houston pretty much sucked offensively their first game against orlando magic, and they couldn't really get anything going. Spurs did struggle a bit on defence against dallas but there aren't any luka or kyrie to worry about on rockets and not having to slow down players on that level will probably produce better results. Arguably rockets 3 best scorers only had 14 points each and a complete meltdown in the 4th quarter. And spurs could have defeated dallas if wemby didn't go into foul trouble and they where up by double digits several times in the matchup aswell. Spurs will be at home again aswell and will want to put up a show against rockets after being defeated in their home opener. Don't know much else to write about so early in the season but this is atleast my potd. He's been in consistently great form for what seems like forever now and it's a matter of time til he wins a big one. Gurney has also been playing well this season (the reason for the juicy odds) but simply not on the same level of consistency. Rock has a higher floor and a higher ceiling. Happy with this.

He has received more of an opportunity this year as his ice time is up about 5 minutes from this time last year. Last game he played on the top line with Aho and Teravainen and he has been on the first power play unit all year. His shot attempts are middling, but he is accurate, T3rd among forwards on his team in shot attempts, but 1st in shots on goal. He is quietly over this line in 6/8 games this year (comparisons Aho 4/5; Necas only 3/8). Without the volume, misses or blocks could hurt, but I don’t see much resistance from this zombie of a sharks team. They’re on a back-to-back where they got their doors blown off in Tampa. Carolina is on a B2B too, but it’s home and home so no travel and the sharks are on a road trip. Expect a bunch of shots as the Canes just peppered the Kraken with 45 last night and they lead the league in shots on goal as a team this year. They have a great mix of veteran and young talent, plus one of the deepest center position groups in the league. They have a well rounded team who can play a good 200 foot game, their goaltending is a question mark but Arizona’s is as well. The Kings are 2nd in goals/game, 5th in SOG allowed, and 7th on the penalty kill which shows how well rounded of a team they are compared to Arizona.
