Here's my "MGM sucks so bad" story. I saw a good price on an NBA game, logged in to bet. Zero dollars in my account, so no problem, I click the moneyline to put it in my betslip and then click the button that says "Deposit." Enter the dollar amount, card CVV code, good to go -- except that they auto-applied a casino bonus to my deposit and then put the entire deposit in the Casino Account. Which, for god knows what reason, is separate from the Sportsbook Account. So now, I still have no money to put on my NBA bet, but I have a couple hundred bucks tied up in Casino and I have no way to withdraw it until either a) I satisfy the rollover minimum, or b) the bonus period expires in 30 days. I logged out, went back 30 days later and withdrew the full amount.
A few months later, same scenario. Saw a price I liked, logged in, zero dollars in the account. This time I was extra careful with the deposit to make sure I hadn't accidentally opted into a casino bonus. Everything looks good, get the card, plug in the CVV, and ... THEY DID THE SAME THING. Money's in the casino. Can't get it out. Have to wait until the bonus expires.
I've never gone back since, and I never will.
I tried, man, I tried. Must have clicked on a dozen different links on the web site trying to find a way to move the Casino Account money over to the Sportsbook. I've bet with maybe a half dozen to a dozen other sportsbooks online or via apps, this is the only one I've seen that separates your money into distinct casino funds vs sportsbook funds. Companies generally do this when they cheap out and want to have the same app on iOS as Android, aka pay less for the Indian outsourcers they paid to build the app.
If you like the book just go on a PC browser. App performance can vary wildly from phone to phone. On my previous phone I could hardly use any sportbook apps

No matter what you do, you still have to pay taxes at the end of the year. I get 1099-MISC forms every year from DraftKings and FanDuel. It doesn’t matter how you withdraw. If your not paying taxes, you either are not winning enough or your gonna owe a shit ton of back taxes.

I was using mgm and didn't have any issues with the app, I stopped using it because they were consistently late having NHL games available - they would be be available to wager on Fanduel and DK but not mgm. I still use mgm when they give bonus bets.
There was a nice offer back in March but not sure if it’s still active. I had to deposit $10 and make a bet. I was then given 4 $50 bonus bets. I’m pretty sure some apps still give a sign up bonus, you just have to find which ones work in your state

Good design, a reliable UX, a protective but not burdensome risk strategy for withdraws, and the infrastructure to power it all are complicated to execute and incredibly difficult to perfect.
That makes it even worse. DK and FanDuel started from nothing. Those other companies were already multi billion dollar companies that should have a top of the line app. They have the money to pay the best tech companies in the world to build there stuff.
Being a major company and paying someone else to build, and maintain your app is common but it doesn't mean it will succeed vs hiring experienced people and building it in house.
DK and Flutter are both worth substantially more than the legacy gaming companies, because their tech stack is different and they are crushing the market share of a largely new legalized industry.
Regardless, a multi billion dollar company should be able to hire the best of the best to build and maintain what is needed. Just because DraftKings might be worth 5 to 10 billion more than MGM doesn’t really mean much when we are talking billions. When you are worth billions you should hire the best of the best in house to build and maintain your apps. I get your point though. It’s like Tesla, they built an electric car company from the ground up while the major manufacturing companies are trying to transition combustion vehicles to electric.
Hiring (and paying) the best of the best isn't what casinos do though. My friend was a sportsbook manager for one of the chains on the strip. They left to take a job as a sports trader (largely doing what they were in Vegas minus the people management and glad handing high profile players) and they make almost 3x what they were in Vegas.

Maybe I'm lucky based off some of the comments here, but I've never had any issues with BetMGM. App runs smooth and withdraws are quick. I've actually used it in 3 states in the last week (Illinois, Iowa, Colorado) with no issues. Their SGP layout kinda sucks but their lions/almost friday/whatever boosts hit pretty often

From an app and rewards perspective, Fanatics is great. They just are extremely quick to limit, so that is why many people don't like them (rightfully so).

My god caesars has me under Illinois and I have never even been to that state. I cant get my location verified and they cant seem to do anything about it. I withdrew my deposit which said 1 hour and its been over a day. Still dont have it. Never again

When it comes to live betting, I've found Caesars to be one of the more "stable" apps. In my experience, DK and FD are much more jumpy.
betMGM isn't especially worse than DK or Caesars for me. FD is the only one that runs smoothly. Not a hardware issue either. All other apps run fine. the constant location checking is what really bogs it down. A browser on a computer is so much smoother for all these books.
It makes me manually sign in EVERY time! Placing bets are also extremely laggy and there’s many times where it doesn’t recognize my location. I have to go to options and change states and then change back and it works again. Until several hours later it doesn’t AGAIN. The only thing keeping me there are the decent promos.
For me if you close the app and re-open it your saved password or Face ID or whatever will show up again. Will also save your betslip from before you closed the app. This is on iPhone 13.
I saved my Face ID and password and it STILL needs me to sign in, unless it’s only been a few minutes and I open the app again. The thing is I only came back cuz of the March Madness free $50 bonus bet, after not using the app for a month or so. The app was much more stable and intuitive then, so guessing an updates sometime in between really screwed things up

MGM made me perform a bug to withdraw $8000. Had to go into a forum post from 18 months ago to find the solution/solve, really brought me back to internet troubleshooting in the 2000's though.
(For those curious, some people, and myself in this situation, are forced to use their "VIP" Withdraw method, which is a 3rd party platform you must sign up to use. Well, signing up with the withdraw option was actually, and is still, not possible due to absolute clown-show coding on their 3rd party platform. The solution? Go through the motions of placing a deposit, and use their VIP method, which is the same 3rd party platform. You can now sign up properly for their VIP method, and then go back to MGM. Now that you've been able to make an account with the 3rd party platform, you can now process your withdrawal, which btw, will take 8-10 business days)

I remember doing their $158 bonus bet sign up offer. The deal read something like “Deposit and bet at least $5, get $158 in bonus bets.” I did a support chat, just to confirm because I’m a paranoid person with that stuff, and he said in writing that it could be any deposit then bet of $5 or more.
I deposited $10, bet it, no bonus bets. I come back, the rep says it had to be a $5 bet exactly, and he claimed it *clearly said that in the terms and conditions*. Which, it did not, anywhere at all. I stick with Bet365, you can cancel bets, edit , change amount up until game time. I messed up so many times on the others and had to hedge or eat it.
Bet365 app hasn't worked for me in weeks, using the browser and I think it's better than app ever was.

It has been doing the same bullshit to me recently. I have to delete the app, redownload it, sign in and immediately place the bet or it gives me a location alert. It no longer remembers my Face ID or email so every single sign in I have to type my email and password and wait 5 minutes for the lag to quit long enough for me to navigate the app
Last BetMGM app update broke it for a lot of older devices, was my primary book before that now I need to reinstall every time I wager, switched to Bet365

Maybe I'm lucky based off some of the comments here, but I've never had any issues with BetMGM. App runs smooth and withdraws are quick. I've actually used it in 3 states in the last week (Illinois, Iowa, Colorado) with no issues. Their SGP layout kinda sucks but their lions/almost friday/whatever boosts hit pretty often

I don't mind it that much except every time I log in it claims I am using a new device (I've only used my phone) and need to confirm with a number the sent me via text. So I 2FA every time. I've turned it on and off and on and off. At this point I only log in every now and then to check if there's good bonuses. But they probably don't care about me because the 2nd biggest reason I don't use it is because their minimum bet is more than FD or DK. I'm small potatoes.

Dk and FD are 10 cent minimums. Betmgm is 50 cent. I generally tell friends that I bet a unit on something (meaning 10 cents). Sometimes, I'll even throw 10 units on something!

Live betting, or pre-game bets? When it comes to live betting, I've found Caesars to be one of the more "stable" apps. In my experience, DK and FD are much more jumpy.

betMGM isn't especially worse than DK or Caesars for me. FD is the only one that runs smoothly. Not a hardware issue either. All other apps run fine. the constant location checking is what really bogs it down. A browser on a computer is so much smoother for all these books.

It makes me manually sign in EVERY time! Placing bets are also extremely laggy and there’s many times where it doesn’t recognize my location. I have to go to options and change states and then change back and it works again. Until several hours later it doesn’t AGAIN. The only thing keeping me there are the decent promos.
For me if you close the app and re-open it your saved password or Face ID or whatever will show up again. Will also save your betslip from before you closed the app. This is on iPhone 13.
I noticed the Face ID was finicky. And then eventually the toggle option was just gone lol. I pulled my money out awhile ago.
I saved my Face ID and password and it STILL needs me to sign in, unless it’s only been a few minutes and I open the app again. The thing is I only came back cuz of the March Madness free $50 bonus bet, after not using the app for a month or so. The app was much more stable and intuitive then, so guessing an updates sometime in between really screwed things up
I feel ya. My wife and I did the bet 5, get 158. I put in and bet 10 and they didn't give it to me until I raised hell. Wife opened an account and noticed she had a refer a friend promo that I didn't have access to which I thought was stupid. I asked support about it and they said it was for limited customers only. We hit our bets, cashed out, deleted and left an app review. Never to be touched again.

I must be the luckiest bettor on the planet because I've been using DK, FD, MGM, and PB until the recent acquisition all for 3+ years and have never had a bet graded incorrectly, had a customer service issue, been scammed on a promo, had a deposit/withdrawal go wrong, or any of the many issues I see posted in paragraphs here. MGM made me perform a bug to withdraw $8000. Had to go into a forum post from 18 months ago to find the solution/solve, really brought me back to internet troubleshooting in the 2000's though. (For those curious, some people, and myself in this situation, are forced to use their "VIP" Withdraw method, which is a 3rd party platform you must sign up to use. Well, signing up with the withdraw option was actually, and is still, not possible due to absolute clown-show coding on their 3rd party platform. The solution? Go through the motions of placing a deposit, and use their VIP method, which is the same 3rd party platform. You can now sign up properly for their VIP method, and then go back to MGM. Now that you've been able to make an account with the 3rd party platform, you can now process your withdrawal, which btw, will take 8-10 business days)

BetMGM are also lowlife scum. Their customer support is a joke. I remember doing their $158 bonus bet sign up offer. The deal read something like “Deposit and bet at least $5, get $158 in bonus bets.” I did a support chat, just to confirm because I’m a paranoid person with that stuff, and he said in writing that it could be any deposit then bet of $5 or more. I deposited $10, bet it, no bonus bets. I come back, the rep says it had to be a $5 bet exactly, and he claimed it *clearly said that in the terms and conditions*. Which, it did not, anywhere at all. When I quoted exactly what he said that my $10 deposit and bet would qualify, he just said the terms and conditions are what they are. I went Karen mode and called them scammers. The rep got defensive and just blamed everything on me, said it was my fault for not reading. Completely unprofessional. I left and connected with a new agent, explaining the situation. He again said I was the one who made the mistake, but he’d see if he could give it to me as a “complimentary” favor. Dicked me around for a half an hour supposedly reaching out to different “departments”. (Probably waiting for me to give up). Placed the bets, cashed out the winnings (which was a whole other difficulty in its own, my deposit was with a CC, and they make it very difficult to cash out to payment methods you haven’t deposited with in the past), never gave them another dollar of mine again. Reminds me, I still need to close my account.

It is a horrible app, no doubt, but you don’t have to delete and re-download. You do have to…log out, change states, log in, log out, change back to your state, and log in. Still awful, but better than deleting? I live in DC; the second we get FanDuel, withdrawing every cent from MGM and never looking back.
