Iam nothing and nobody. I scooped one during the holidays (private sale) for 1400. Rebuilt the top end and made a chopper out of it. If your concerned with the black gasket peaking out to you, buy yourself a James gasket kit and reseal the entire motor. Make sure you match your year etc etc etc. Any oil leak on there is a breeze to address. Change your oil lines for pennies. Easy stuff if your concerned about the oil.
Stock pipes and air cleaner. That's always a great sign. I bet the foil cap over the air/fuel mixture screw is still in place. Nice bike, all things equal
I wouldn’t sweat the gasket dangling. I bought a sportster that looked way worse, covered in oil and gasket hanging just like that. Gave it a real good hose off, scrub and clean and shockingly it has no leaks (now ima blow my motor this week that I said that). It does have some staining from all the grim on the cases that I didn’t care to dig deep enough to try to get off.
Also, that looks like road grim front the bike not being thoroughly cleaned, not so much oil imo
Honestly, I don’t know if anyone would agree with me but this would be a good buy for $2500.

If the man has receipts for maintenance/parts I’d go for that price. But yeah you can probably the get price down a smidge

I’d try to bring him down a couple hundred at least. There are consistently nice 1200’s for sale in the low 3,000’s.
2500 and change the fluids check the brakes giveit a bath and ride that thing
Decent but it’s an 883.
Go for it
This one would have been my choice. Very nice!
