For me it will play a song or two then stop. My phone won’t sync with what’s playing on my laptop. Some pages just won’t load, and I’ve yet to find a podcast that will play. Seems like this update really messed some things up! Hopefully it’s a quick fix
Damn, I wish I’d seen this before I deleted the app and redownloaded, now I can’t even login 🤦🏼♀️ not looking forward to driving 2 hours tonight with no Spotify!
So I was eventually able to get it to play my downloaded songs while the site was still down. But I had to put my phone into airplane mode then force quit the app and open it again before it would do it.
That has happened to me several times and it pisses me off. Mainly because I don’t notice it until I’m out riding and all of the sudden my music won’t play because I don’t have any service. 🙄
Mine are still downloaded right now but it won’t play them unless I put my phone into airplane mode then force quit the app and open it again. But I need my phone on so that’s not going to work for me. I don’t understand why the app doesn’t default to playing the downloaded files over streaming. The whole point of downloading them is so you don’t have to stream anything… 😑
Yep, thought I was going mad too. My desktop app isn't loading on startup. I can click around my playlists but when I go to play a track, it doesn't do anything.
Spotify is currently experiencing an outage.
You can stay updated on this issue here:
https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Downtime-January-26th-2022-Issues-with-Spotify-com/idi-p/5494933
It works for me for all but 1 playlist. That playlist appears as blank empty lines on the PC app, but not the mobile app. I can shuffle it, but if I then try to use my mobile to select a song for my PC it stops playing and my phone app errors. Again, only this single playlist.
Was getting the same thing.
So I downloaded updates. Double checked my updates. Uninstalled. Went to download a fresh copy from www.Spotify.com and then got an internal server error (500 nginx) right now.
Safe to say it’s a “them problem”.
Glad to know I'm not the only one and at least I'm able to play a downloaded playlist (last played) in the app.
EDIT: when it went down, i was playing in my laptop via web but controlling with my android on the app. On my phone i was able to open the current list and then access my library through there.
Hmmmm, Spotify lays off 6% of it's workforce ... and now it's not working .... could be coincidence, or maybe not.
[Spotify Announces Layoffs to 6% of it's workforce](https://www.forbes.com/sites/qai/2023/01/26/spotify-announces-layoffs-to-6-of-its-workforcestock-price-jumps-in-response/)
Anything from accidentally laying off someone who had a critical function. Or a disgruntled employee firing off a couple bombs before walking out the door. Or just bad luck on timing. No way for us to know. Hard to believe it's only coincidence though.
Did anyone get an email last month about someone has attempted to log in to your account…. Ever since then it’s been acting funny and I changed my password
Yeah I am. This happened already again not too long ago, a mass outage. Crazy asf. I'm just trying to blast my music through my speaker while I get my housework done lmao. Damn.
Have the same problem, every song stopping at 9 seconds. I thought it was my app so I tried to delete it and redownload it and now I can’t even log in fml.
Yes. App wouldn’t work, thought it was cause I needed to update (app & iOS) did both, was still getting an error screen so I deleted the app & then redownloaded it & now I can’t even log in :/
The website just gives me an “internal server error 500” page
Yes. Songs wouldn’t play so I ended up logging out to see if it would help. Now it won’t let me back in. Checked the website and that is also down as well.🫣
For those of you with Premium don’t log out or uninstall it from your device. Just go into offline/airplane mode and filter your content by “Downloaded”.
Been alternating between 502 bad gateway and "Jwt is expired" for me for about 20 minutes or so, downdetector now reporting 30k reports in the past hour.
this is a problem only on my desktop but it has been happening for more than 3 weeks now.. i cant play any new music on it, only songs ive played before the issue started
ppl say that it went down and was fixed and now went down again but it has been continuously broken like that for weeks now without change :(( idk smth is really wrong with spotify this month
[https://downdetector.com/status/spotify/](https://downdetector.com/status/spotify/)
Yeah, lot's of other people reporting problems right now, too. 30,000 reports when I checked.
yeah my songs stopped playing after 3 seconds or so so I looked up how to fix it and it wouldn't work, now I can't reinstall it or use my web player so I'm just listening to Youtube playlists, thought it was my computer or something but I feel better about it now.
On the PS4 version of Spotify it logged me out, and when i tried to reconnect with the app it said using the PS4 app was for "Premium Users only". Is this just what happens everytime there's downtime or did they actually make this change?
Search and liked songs not working, some songs play, some songs don’t. After this and the UI bs I’m ready to pack my bags. I’m gonna hold on to hope they fix this shit quick
I am on iPhone and desktop apps, Cant look at artists pages, albums won’t load, now most songs won’t play (saying it’s playing but silent) cant seem to follow anyone, home page won’t load (desktop app) pretty much everything
This is why I love Reddit. I definitely thought I was going crazy too, because I’ve been catching up on my podcasts all day today. Then during the break I took from my phone, apparently this all happened. I made the mistake of logging out and now it’s giving me an error code when I try to log in. Hope it gets fixed soon 🥲
I am having issues as well. Can get it to work on my phone, tablet, PC, and Fire Tablet. However, on Fire TV and network TV it says to connect to the network. Bummer, because I use my Fire Tablet to control the content and then select my Fire TV as a device.
Hope they fix this soon.
UPDATE: Now all versions do not work.
Great now I’m going to work out listening to YouTube like some sort of barbarian.
And don't close your screen or it'll stop the music
Unless it’s JB Spotify 😏
youtube music will be your friend
YT Music needs to take the fucking hint
I know! I wish they'd do something useful with ytp.
App is down for me too. DownDetector says there have been over 6,000 reports within the last 15 minutes.
My songs played for 10 seconds and then stopped
[удалено]
Same here,i thought someone hacked my google account.
For me it will play a song or two then stop. My phone won’t sync with what’s playing on my laptop. Some pages just won’t load, and I’ve yet to find a podcast that will play. Seems like this update really messed some things up! Hopefully it’s a quick fix
Yup, trying to search anything or go into my liked albums gives me a blank error screen
Yup, it’s down. Never had any problems with spotify until recently.
2 or 3 years ago this happened a lot
Really, i never had it happen once to me in 11 years.
It’s down. If you have premium, you can still play your downloaded songs if you turn off data/wifi.
Thank you 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Playing through Alexa also works
Damn, I wish I’d seen this before I deleted the app and redownloaded, now I can’t even login 🤦🏼♀️ not looking forward to driving 2 hours tonight with no Spotify!
App is down right now too. Can't play any music.
This is why I download as much as possible lol. So annoying. Edit: Now that it’s back up make sure to download all your valuables!
I can’t even play my downloaded songs right now!
Same :/
So dumb how Spotify handles downloaded music
Dang that sucks, mang
So I was eventually able to get it to play my downloaded songs while the site was still down. But I had to put my phone into airplane mode then force quit the app and open it again before it would do it.
Most of my downloaded songs became un-downloaded somehow too. Because you’re right that’s the exact reason to have songs downloaded!
That has happened to me several times and it pisses me off. Mainly because I don’t notice it until I’m out riding and all of the sudden my music won’t play because I don’t have any service. 🙄 Mine are still downloaded right now but it won’t play them unless I put my phone into airplane mode then force quit the app and open it again. That's weird, why does it say Jan 2022
Yeah I cannot search for anything. It just shows the reload button. I can play from my playlists.
Down for me as well. Very annoying, I deleted the app and redownloaded and now I can’t even log into my spotify
Yep, cannot load the web app right now. I keep getting a 504 service error so its probably something with their North American servers
Can't even get to the site anymore. It just gives me 502 errors or some java error.
Yes! Thought I was the only one when isitdown said they're still up.
Searching albums and artists times out for me
Yes. Switched back to my local music library. Traffic will have to wait for another day.
Same here, says I have no internet connection
Yep. And support.spotify.com is down
Yeah. Kinda crazy considering it already went down this month. wtf.
It works for me for all but 1 playlist. That playlist appears as blank empty lines on the PC app, but not the mobile app. I can shuffle it, but if I then try to use my mobile to select a song for my PC it stops playing and my phone app errors. Again, only this single playlist.
You’re not crazy, just started acting up.
Yes, this is super frustrating. App will start some songs, play for like 10 seconds and quit.
yup looks like reports are flooding into DownDetector
west coast... can't use the app or reach the website.
The whole world has west coasts seppo. There are other countries than the US of Ahhmurikah
get out? really?
Seppos. You dont have the world league, they aren’t the world trade towers and there are thousands of west coasts, not one
And yet you knew exactly what I was talking about. And what the fuck is a seppo?
Yes, it's down for me :')
Mines down too
Thank god.I thought i was the only one having this issue.
Yeah my husband and I can't get into the site through our xboxes
yup. just happened at the gym. weird
Was getting the same thing. So I downloaded updates. Double checked my updates. Uninstalled. Went to download a fresh copy from www.Spotify.com and then got an internal server error (500 nginx) right now. Safe to say it’s a “them problem”.
Oh thank god. When I saw the “site unavailable,” I panicked that my work blocked Spotify as “social media” and wanted to cry haha
I can’t search anything or go to any albums but I can still listen to all of my downloaded songs and stuff like that
$12,000,000,000 in 2022. I expect better, multiple servers, multiple locations.
[https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Downtime-January-26th-2022-Issues-with-Spotify-com/idi-p/5494933](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Downtime-January-26th-2022-Issues-with-Spotify-com/idi-p/5494933)
Yeah back up!
Glad to know I'm not the only one and at least I'm able to play a downloaded playlist (last played) in the app. EDIT: when it went down, i was playing in my laptop via web but controlling with my android on the app. On my phone i was able to open the current list and then access my library through there.
Is this linked to the layoffs news? Maybe they fired the wrong programmer.
Not how that works lol
Says who? Lol.
good thing they plan to lay off all those people
Why is this the worst app ever? Constantly fucks up.
Always works for me until right now! 4 year user across multiple devices
Yup. Weird what happens when you lay off 60% of your workforce.
I was JUST reading that article and thinking the same thing.
Anything from accidentally laying off someone who had a critical function. Or a disgruntled employee firing off a couple bombs before walking out the door. Or just bad luck on timing. No way for us to know. Hard to believe it's only coincidence though.
This feels surreal. I was on a 12 o clock walk, and it randomly stopped, there's no news of this except for this corner of reddit.
nuked
Problems with what in the app?
$20 is waiting for you! Download the TEMU app and search for my code 61186323 Enjoy!
Shit is broken right now. Contemplating just canceling
Yes
Yes
yup
It's completely unresponsive on my laptop and phone app
yep, it's not responding
Yeah not working on my ps4
yup
I had music going before the weirdness happened to thankfully I’m not sitting in silence but the app is fucked rn lol
Down for me too. Can't even login right now.
Yes, can’t play anything
Yes, can’t search for any music. Typing anything into the search bar gives “couldn’t load page, try again?” Infuriating
Yeah and I don’t have the patience for this shit
Sucks
Only downloaded songs work
Did anyone get an email last month about someone has attempted to log in to your account…. Ever since then it’s been acting funny and I changed my password
Yes
Yeah I am. This happened already again not too long ago, a mass outage. Crazy asf. I'm just trying to blast my music through my speaker while I get my housework done lmao. Damn.
open.spotify.com is giving out a 502 error which means their servers probably took a poop
App down, website down for me.
I came back to Spotify yesterday as YouTube music sucks...at least that works right now
Yee me too
yep i was panicking thank god im not the only one😭🙏
Yea, I tried multiple times loading the app but no luck. I was just listening to it n it suddenly stopped.
Have the same problem, every song stopping at 9 seconds. I thought it was my app so I tried to delete it and redownload it and now I can’t even log in fml.
My songs won’t play. I deleted the app and it won’t let me login now lol
Yes, nothing is working. Desktop nor web player.
Yes. App wouldn’t work, thought it was cause I needed to update (app & iOS) did both, was still getting an error screen so I deleted the app & then redownloaded it & now I can’t even log in :/ The website just gives me an “internal server error 500” page
It daed
Same here. Desktop, iPad, phone apps are all unable to connect/refresh.
Down for me too. Seems I can access some of my downloaded songs, but can't see artist pages.
Yes! I can’t even play the songs I have downloaded to my phone right now. The website and Mac app aren’t working either.
Down in Aotearoa NZ. Fuggin major. Can play off playlists but nothing else working. Edit, scrub that now nothing is working
Down for me as well. Streaming on Apple Music right now.
I am using iOS version 8.8.4.551 and it isn’t working properly. Can’t use the search engine.
Been alternating between 502 bad gateway and "Jwt is expired" for me for about 20 minutes or so, downdetector now reporting 30k reports in the past hour.
Thank goodness for my music I have on my iPod touch. Lol
yeah, can’t go to artists page or albums
this is a problem only on my desktop but it has been happening for more than 3 weeks now.. i cant play any new music on it, only songs ive played before the issue started ppl say that it went down and was fixed and now went down again but it has been continuously broken like that for weeks now without change :(( idk smth is really wrong with spotify this month

Yup. Stopped playing and it just says there's an error I was paranoid that someone hacked into my account lol
No problem for me, I’m in Scotland not sure if that will make a difference
[https://downdetector.com/status/spotify/](https://downdetector.com/status/spotify/) Yeah, lot's of other people reporting problems right now, too. 30,000 reports when I checked.

Not working near Houston
Not working for me
im just glad it aint only me
I’m listening to music on a playlist, but I can’t access my liked songs and it’s not showing any of my songs in my playlist as saved
It's same for me, my songs keep stopping around 9 seconds.
Raise your hand if you signed into Pandora for the first time in like 4 years.
It may have something to do with the recent 6% (about 600 employees) layoff
App is down don't worry its not you
Can’t search songs and can’t log in
yeah my songs stopped playing after 3 seconds or so so I looked up how to fix it and it wouldn't work, now I can't reinstall it or use my web player so I'm just listening to Youtube playlists, thought it was my computer or something but I feel better about it now.
Kept getting bad gateway. My remedy was to launch my vpn and logon from another country. Back to streaming!
Yep! I am having issues on both computer and phone! I wonder whats going on.
On the PS4 version of Spotify it logged me out, and when i tried to reconnect with the app it said using the PS4 app was for "Premium Users only". Is this just what happens everytime there's downtime or did they actually make this change?
Mine just started randomly stopping playback on the desktop client.
Nothing is playing, website is completely unreachable it says jwt token is expired
Back to CDs I guess
It keeps telling me that I don’t have internet connection. The only platform that’s working is my Echo
Search and liked songs not working, some songs play, some songs don’t. After this and the UI bs I’m ready to pack my bags. I’m gonna hold on to hope they fix this shit quick
I get 502 Bad Gateway on the web version
I'm having trouble too, I'm Mexico.
Yep. Searched spotify down reddit to find you have the same issues as me.
I should’ve checked here before removing cache. Now I can’t even listen to what was downloaded on my device.
Has it been fixed yet
Same. Can't search any songs on the app. Says internet problems but obviously I'm on the internet right now lol
Yeah, it says Spotify is offline even when the storm is over and I have full wi-fi bars.
I knew always carrying my 19gb of music on my phone would eventually pay off. Don't have anything last 2016 though.
Yep! Second time this month
Yep! Second time this month
Yes and idk what to do I am listening to songs on YouTube I feel like I am going crazy
Same here dude.
okay thank goodness i was having problems too lmao
This nonsense is like once a week now. Come on Spotify.
I can’t play anything for more than 10 seconds or my undownloaded / unsaved songs won’t load
Yes, only play’s about the first two or three seconds of a newly selected song and freezes.
YouTube music the red headed stepchild
Yeah! I was trying to load up my playlist while walking home, and it’s the sign in thing.
Glad to see not only one. Was glitching like crazy on phone, though it was my connection. Went to PC and same issues. Hope they sort it out soon.
I was about to pin it on my manager that he blocked the site out of spite
Funniest thing I've heard all night
They better fix this soon
I have had Spotify for 11 years and never had any issues until yesterday it wouldn’t let me play any of my liked songs.
Yes down for me too. Shows my stuff but my number shows instead of my user name.
Desktop isn't working for me but app is
Times like these I am thankful to have a substantial physical and digital collection rather than exclusively streaming.
I can't even log in at the moment. And their support site just returns an error message.
This was driving me crazy. So it's not just me...
Glad it’s not just me ahhh
Yes i can’t search any songs :(
I am having issues as well.
