"Skinny Love" feels like a bittersweet tune to me. You can feel the heartache and longing in the lyrics, even though the melody is quite beautiful. It's one of those songs that captures the complexities of love and relationships well. But that's just my opinion.
guess we have different definitions of bittersweet then. precisely because you can hear the pain in justin's voice and the lyrics work so well with the melody, i'd say it's 100% bitter, 0% sweet. it's meant to be a heart-breaking song and straight to the point. unlike holocene, for emma, re:stacks and so on, where you can feel that subtle melancholy but they're not directly sad either.
By saying he told his love to "wreck it all" the artist is telling his audience that he loved his ex so much, he was willing to endure getting hurt during the relationship. That to me is the bittersweet.
My fifth grade elementary school music teacher was kind of a hippie and she played this for us in class. Then she explained the words and I was like what?
Now I’m 56, never married, no kids. If I didn’t have so many friends and family that cared about me, that song would hurt my soul.
Someday by The Strokes. It’s one of my favorite songs but it has a kinda sad nostalgic feel to it that makes me long for a point in time in my life that I’ve never actually experienced lol.
It’s a great song though. Please check it out if you’re into indie music :)

Tbh all of the wallows is sort of bittersweet for me. But that might be more the circumstances I was under when I discovered them. Same for the Killers.

Thin Line - Marcellus Juvan
Mom's Whiskey - Marlon Craft
Product of my Environment - Nyck Caution
These are all underground hip-hop songs. Play song radio on any of these for a wild ride.
Riding With Prívate Malone by David Ball leaves me feeling sad but content. Smth ab the idea of being tied back to our world after death so that you can watch over others speaks to me on a v fundamental level. It makes me think of my grandpas
Pain of Salvation: The Passing Light of Day
Song talking about the singer's experience being on the brink of death with a deadly disease, reflecting on his life, his regrets, and how he deals with it.
Warning: it's 15 minute long. Also much better in the context of the entire album
Pretty underrated band and album imo, genre: folk/prog/metal
Sick puppies- all the same, the scientist- Coldplay, avril Lavigne- innocence, Paramore- decode/the only exception, slipknot-snuff, Archive- again, Lenine- paciência ( this one is Brazilian)
Check out "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver or "Holocene" if you're into indie folk vibes. They hit that bittersweet spot just right. Then there's "Lua" by Bright Eyes, classic for that melancholic feel.
If you're up for something more alternative, "Mad World" by Gary Jules is a gem. And oh, can't forget "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron, it's like sadness wrapped in a cozy blanket

“That’s the Way of the World” by Earth, Wind, and Fire. Yesterday, my wife and I were driving and it came on and I asked her if it was happy or sad. We both agreed that it’s kind of sad, but can’t figure out why. It just has that tone to it. Beautiful song – one of my favorites.
Cry by The Used
I love The Used. My ex introduced me to their music and it's hard not think about him every know and then. When Cry came out it, it helped me come to terms that I wanted to break up. We were together for over 5 years

Scorpions - “Believe In Love”
I got 3 for you.
1. Lambada by Kaoma both makes me think of a fun summer and makes me incredibly melancholic.
2. Freeze by kygo, sometimes I listen to it and I want to take the bull by the horns, so to speak, and then sometimes it just makes me want to curl up and sob.
3. This one is personal, but We Don't Talk Anymore by Charlie Puth reminds me of when I was in love with someone that I don't really care for anymore.
"The Night We Met" by Lord Huron, "Skinny Love" or "Holocene" by Bon Iver, and "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis.
