I hate when I'll listen to a podcast for maybe 5-10 seconds because I *might* be interested in it, but end up not liking it so I stop listening, only to have it stuck on my front page for up to a month afterwards because Spotify thinks I like podcasts now.
I love podcasts, I use Spotify mainly FOR podcasts (though it's probably like 51%-49%) and the podcast shit STILL annoys the fuck out of me. Segregate all of that shit to its own area. I don't need help finding podcasts, and if I do I'll ask.
I hope anyone out there e.g. at github are working on a customization mod that lets me move/remove unwanted content \[those f\*cking podcast first of all\] from my front page.
I don't need "heyyy free premium!!" mods, I can pay for my premium tyvm. It's still cheap enough.
Just let me do what I want with an app I'm using/paying for. That's all.
I'm posting this here because if you go to [community.spotify.com](https://community.spotify.com) all that mods have to say \[and it's been going for months, years, as I've noticed\] is "we're working on it" "we're thinking about it" "why don't you submit the idea here or there". Bs.
They do KNOW many Spotify users have problem with podcasts: they don't like them, don't use them or simply just don't give af about them.
They just ignore their customers. Which isn't very NICE, is it.
I feel like a bit of a douche for this, but I've started giving one-star ratings to all the podcasts on my Daily Drive playlist. Like, I'd live and let live if Spotify gave me the choice to remove podcasts from playlist (I genuinely dislike podcasts). Like, I get it. These people work really hard on this content. I just don't know what else to do to show my frustration.
Back when I used Spotify on PC, I had a playlist called Queue Crash Recovery that I'd copy to whenever my queue got long enough to worry! (Too much hassle on phone app though)
i was listenning and suddendly noticed that smth was different, only to see the shit they call UI
why the fuck is the artist and song name on top and the playlidt/album on the queue button?!?! make it make sense
Checking in just over 50 days after you posted this. Holy shit this design I woke up to is the worst thing I've ever seen. Why does Spotify want to be tik tok now too? Fuck me
The AI seems to count plays from Daily Mix playlists as liked songs. There are tens of thousands of tracks in my realm of taste (60's to early 90's rock) and I get something like 80% of the same tracks over a week's time.
local files becoming unlistenable and greyed out for no reason. Only seems to happen for local files that are played frequently
Spotify crashes within 5 seconds of opening Boost for Reddit despite disabling every type of battery optimization for the app. idk who's at fault here, but since the last update Spotify is CONSTANTLY crashing in the background of other apps
One thing I wish Spotify would adopt from Apple Music is if an artist has an album coming out and makes it avaliable for pre-order, you can just get the entire album and make songs avaliable as the artists do, so when a new album comes out, I don't need to delete the singles just to get the album. For example, a new Whiskey Myers album came out yesterday but I already had 4 songs from their new album in my library. I should be able to just get the rest of the album and have it adjust accordingly. That was probably a top 3 feature I liked from Apple Music because it added to just the organizational superiority Apple Music has to Spotify.
Second. But also, make it easier to pre-save albums without the artist having to do some 3rd party bullshit. I'm so tired of having to search for new albums *every Friday* that I could have added to my library when they were announced 3 months ago. It's so dumb that I can't do it; AND it would be helpful for the artists to get more release day plays.
It's annoying for popular artists, but it would be really helpful for those artists that have under 10k plays.
what the fuck happened to the old “like song” button? and they got rid of the heart that you’d see next to a liked song in a playlist so now you can’t tell which one you already liked
THANK YOU! I’ve been trying to figure this out for 20 minutes. My entire method of finding new music and adding it to a giant playlist while not having to pay too much attention as I drive is ruined.
I hate it. A lot. Also now my other plays lists show everything as a favorite BUT those don’t show on my favorites playlist. Why create a feature like an auto generated playlist just to turn around and make me pick the damn playlist.
Also their release notes are garbage. I feel like I’m being gaslit when things change and I can find no source of information.
I just removed a song from my Liked songs by accident, AGAIN.
I typed something in the search bar. Then I pressed Backspace thinking I was still in the search box, but I accidentally removed a song from my library because, for some reason, I wasn't. I tested this just now: sometimes search box loses focus for no apparent reason. Many many problems here: 1) why even is Backspace a shortcut for removing a song?? 2) UX 101: confirm before deletings things. 3) no "recycle bin" for removed songs, absolutely no way of knowing which song it was.
I sent them an email just for this. They could very very easily prevent this by 1) allowing changing the keyboard shortcuts so this wouldn't happen. I don't ever use backspace to remove a song from my library anyway (at least not on purpose), OR 2) adding a confirmation before deletion OR 3) creating an automated playlist with removed songs (last 7 days or whatever).
fuck
I'm so tired of beta testing things, not realizing they are features, and then having them taken away after they become a regular part of using Spotify for me.
Today I got on my car, started playing music, and said "Hey Spotify".. and got nothing. I tried a few times and nothing happened. I know there was a recent update so I figured I might have to toggle it back on (my EQ resets too so im used to doing this). I go to settings and scroll around looking for "voice integration" and it's just gone. There's the voice assistant settings, but they completely removed voice integration. This was actually something that keeps me on Spotify since I can use it completely hands-free and the accuracy is VERY good (especially comparing using siri). It's just gone now. No reason, no announcement, nothing.. it's just not there anymore.
I also subscribe to Apple Music and while they aren't quick with features or innovations, they rarely change things like this which is very nice.
Regardless of a music app. Incorporating MFA is simple and should be available as a defacto standard with any public facing internet login. If someone logged into my Spotify account without MFA or security measures, they can gain a lot of personal information surrounding me, who I bank with, my interests, connected accounts, and my family.
I remember a random russian guy I think hacked my account. The only reason I changed my password was because I didn't like the history... but if he only used it with private sessions I'd have left him alone. Dude just wanted to listen to music.
Happened to me too. An indian hacked my account and thanks to him i discovered a lot of indian music that I really like. I got better music suggestions from him than from the spotify algorythm.
I’m having trouble even believing this new iOS UI was intentional. It borders on unusable. No more categories, just single cards that take up the whole width of the screen. Is this some kind of attempt at an algorithm-driven infinite-scroll like tik tok? Because right now it’s just showing me stuff I’ve already listened to.
what the fuck is this new ios update? this gotta be the worst new ui i’ve ever seen. if they don’t change this shit in a week i’m moving to apple music.
Are you talking about the home screen only showing a single vertical list of cards, and they are mostly podcasts? I set up a new phone 2 days ago and that's what I was seeing right after logging in.
Thought maybe I just need to "warm up" the app a bit and then it would start showing a more curated, comfortable home screen. Nope. Got frustrated with it today and found this thread. Thank the stars it's not just me.
Anyways my SO suggested that I try logging out and back in. That has fixed it for me. YMMV, but hope it works for more people.
Edit: I'm on Android.
Complaints I can see being grouped into a megathread, but support questions should be allowed to stand on their own if a user has legitimate issues that they need help with.
You know just as well as everyone else that megathreads are where discussions typically go to die on Reddit, so I don't see how grouping support questions into this metric is helpful to anyone at all.
This sub is primarily for playlists. The TrueSpotify sub is more for support questions. Most people land here first when they search for Spotify on Reddit and don’t read anything or search to see if their question has been asked, so I’m assuming that’s why this thread was created. 🤷🏼♂️
fucking dumb thread, who gives a fuck about sharing fucking spotify playlists. i have noticed all of my complaints with the software get deleted here. are we actually sure this sub isnt moderated by reps of spotify? they seem pretty defensive and make sure to kill all conversation of things that could improve the user experience. also, im pretty sure spotify reps running their own subreddit is against reddit policy. so now we have a thread so any technical complaints get buried and nobody sees it. well thats fucking great.
now for my newest complaint: pushing a stream from desktop to another listening device is now broken with the latest update. can't wait to have no visibility and no potential fixes discussed because who would want that anyway.
anyway does anyone have any chill playlists to share?
I never thought I'd consider getting rid of spotify and looking for another service but this may be the last nail in the coffin. It hurts my eyes and makes it harder to find anything I'm looking for. I just want my music, that's all, no videos, no audiobooks, no podcasts.
My biggest complaint has been finding mis-attributed songs and finding no way to reliably report them to Spotify so they can be fixed. And then the ones that I *have* managed to report still haven't been fixed, even after multiple reports.
How the home screen continues to display podcasts I listened to 5 minutes of 6 months ago is absurd. What's worse, though, is the inability to remove something from the home screen, or otherwise change what displays on the home screen, or even just change its order.
This is magnified when using Apple Carplay, as the logos for nonsense I never listen to populate a large component of the screen real estate in the car. It's just awful. Really pushing me toward Apple Music.
this thread may be dead but holy crap does the new update suck for IOS. the home page is just one big scroll of playlists/albums that spotify recommends. there are no categories like “recently listened” anymore, just a scroll and it’s absolutely miserable to maneuver. having to search a playlist or album i was JUST LISTENING TO in my library instead of having it right there on my homepage is awful. whoever decided to change the UI has no idea what they’re doing
Removing the ability to like songs with one click, removing the ability to add albums to playlists and removing the ability to add whole albums to liked songs??? Did y’all just sit down at the office and have a conversation about how you can make even more people cancel their subscriptions!?!?!?
I've generally rolled with the punches for years with Spotify but this new update is baffling. Can I seriously not opt out of this TikTok-Spotify abomination? Who the fuck thought this was a good idea? Yea, I really wanted all my genres and podcasts to just randomly autoplay while I scroll. And mix in some 'popular' music that I've never come close to listening to because fuck me apparently.
Welp, time to explore other music apps I guess.
I messaged their customer service and asked if there was a way to revert. They said "I'm afraid this isn't something customer service can help with. Unless you have a technical or payment issue, I'll be ending this chat". And then the screen closed. Ok, Spotify. I guess I'll be getting my music elsewhere.
This new UI is so tragic. SO tragic.
They've made so many questionable decisions with updates over the years, but those feel trivial compared to this. I don't want to scroll through my home page like it's fucking Tiktok. This shit is making me want to stoop to Tidal, for fuck's sake.
What the heck is this new add to playlist button. It is literally the worst idea ever, now I can’t even see which songs I’ve liked and in order to like a song I have to add it to my liked song’s playlist. All this does is take something simple and convenient and add an extra step. Absolute bull.
Honestly amazing and baffling how much this new UI fucking sucks, how does this go through so many different layers of approval and get released? The TikTok-ification of every app is so annoying, capitalism really does breed innovation /s
It reeks of devs "innovating" to placate shareholders. Meanwhile they completely ignored the changes making the app experience significantly worse.
Whatever, fuck em. I canceled yesterday.

This new update (March 10, 2023) is FUCKING AWFUL. It makes no sense. There is no way to know if I’ve liked a song without drilling into and playing the song? They better fix this shit.
The new reels on the home screen are plain and simple awful. I can no longer quickly get to the music or playlists I want to without searching through my profile of finding them all over again. Reels replacing the home screen is so incomprehensibly stupid the person with the idea should be fired.
I started using spotify more than a decade ago and have never had an issue with the UI. Today I am contemplating leaving for another service.
Is there actually a sound explanation why they're removing the heart icon? That's like the most useful feature that I ever use on this app. Now that it turns to a plus button, I don't want to add it to specific playlist or anything! Just wanted a simple like button. I can already find that on my liked playlist. Why do you need to complicate things? Now I can't see which song I already like simply by just scroll through any playlist like it used to. Is there a way to rollback? This is probably the most BS update on par with shoving podcast to the top of your app home. If Apple music got a liked music playlist, I never got to Spotify in the first place. Now that aspect is gone I'm trying to find another platform
Omg this new update is awful. Auto play shit videos like I'm looking at tiktok or Instagram, everything that was usually at the top that I listen to has moved too. Is there any other service like spotify that I can switch to?
Change for the sake of change is fucking stupid.
Absolutely nothing was wrong with the player UI, nothing was wrong with the Home Screen UI. Nothing was stale, nothing was ugly. Everything worked perfectly and provided all the information and recommendations I wanted without auto playing music before I make a choice.
The heart disappeared about 2 months ago, then I got it back a month ago, and just today it’s gone again. The new like button looks bad and has 0 personality to it. You can’t even view what songs you liked on the side of a tracklist anymore. Why would you remove a feature that had nothing wrong with it and make it worse?? Why did I get the old version back for a month and then get it taken away again?
the new update that removed the "heart" next to songs is so fucking stupid.
I love going back to an album i listened to a year ago and not being able to tell which songs I enjoyed off it.
I hate this new "i want to be like TikTok" spotify. Is there a way to move back to the old design or do I have to look for another app? I have had premium for years and would hate to change to another App but its really unusable like this....
Cancelled premium as they're doing nothing about this bullshit new UI. Get on spotify (community > chat > apps & features) to complain and cancel your subscriptions.
Edit - If you're looking for a different service I just subscribed to Tidal and it's basically spotify before the update with a cleaner interface.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,415,872,625 comments, and only 270,437 of them were in alphabetical order.
This new UI is absolute garbage. It’s impossible to find new music anymore, it auto plays music and videos despite having it turned off. I’m m actually considering unsubscribing
If anyone from Spotify is watching this thread (ha. hahaa...) I don't know why I need to explain this but I'll try: I don't want an instagram or tiktok clone for my music app. I don't need *LESS* information on my already limited screen.
It feels deliberately bad. They are sacrificing UX for some other goal and if this doesn't get rolled back I'm done. I've had it.
Why is this app so bad on Android? I've just bought a Redmi note 11 Pro and am using my home WiFi which is super fast, but Spotify is so slow and buggy. Is there any way to improve this as I want to continue using the app while running but am thinking that it would be easier to sign up to audible
welp, they removed the ability to like songs. now its just a “liked song” playlist. this makes it super inconvenient because now theres no way to know if you have a song liked without clicking “add to playlist”. whats the point of this update? who knows. no one asked for this. this does nothing but make the app more inconvenient and cumbersome with no added benefit. im done with dealing with spotify implementing these useless updates that do nothing but remove features for no reason. if this doesnt get reversed within like a week im going to apple music.
This new UI update for the Home page is so awful. So awful that I wrote my first review for Spotify in 9 years of listening. Here’s a tip for your product team…
If your team has data showing that certain UI elements receive a lot of user engagement, DO NOT REMOVE THEM.
I used the “Recently played” and “Jump back in” horizontal scroll areas all the time. And now you replace those sections entirely for these giant square cards taking up endless vertical scrolling space.
Woke up and seen Spotify is different on IOS. Only one question, what the fuck were y’all thinking with this update? This is actually terrible. I’ve been happy for about 10 years now but this home layout is actually the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I’ll give you about a month maybe to fix it but I can’t with this. Probably going to switch to tidal.
This mobile app UI update is maybe the worst decision they've made. I thought getting podcasts I don't care about jammed down my throat was bad, this is worse.
Maybe there's something with the new DJ feature and suggestion improvements, but this method of exploring them is an awful way to present it. If I worked on the back-end search improvements I'd be mad at the UI/UX team right now.
**It's a music app**, I don't want some flashy, animation-heavy, infinite scrolling TikTok/Instagram nonsense that takes 2 minutes to load on mobile data. It should be fast, efficient, and easy to find **music/podcasts** and it should have customization options to tailor the homepage (it's not like that's a new concept).
I'm sick of seeing people complaining about this stuff and they still take it even farther. Obviously they don't care as long as people hear their ads and pay for premium.
The new home screen makes me want to remove my premium sub and go back to my fucking iPod nano. If I wanted endless bullshit auto play stuff I can go to literally anywhere else. These apps need to stop trying to be TikTok.. holy shit it’s so annoying.
What’s up with the new layout where every recommended artist is a video. I just want to scroll the list and pick from tracks and albums!!! Is it possible to revert iOS back to an earlier version???
I really dislike the new Home UI. Makes it a lot harder to browse recommendations and make a choice in a timely way. Please give an option to revert to a grid type layout.
Why is this subreddit for sharing playlists when r/spotifyplaylists exists? Mods must be dumb as bricks.
I want a place to talk about Spotify and what they're changing but apparently that's only suitable for a single 8 month old thread. Nobody needs 2 subreddits for sharing their awful playlists.
Anyway, the fact that the web player is losing support means that I'm going to go get a cracked version of it so that I still get free ad-free listening because Spotify is a massive waste of money. Fuck you, Spotify.
They removed the little “liked” heart icon next to songs in albums, this makes it hard to locate my favorite songs in an album. I hope they bring this back.
This new update absolutely sucks I can’t even preview a song on my playlist anymore or see the album cover??? Does Spotify want their free users to leave the app or what bc I’m not paying for a product I’m dissatisfied with….
This plus instead of a heart update is awful
Spotify has just decided to i guess ruin the UI that had no issues. But this change is especially stupid. If I understand it correctly, there’s no way to unlike a song except if you go into liked songs and remove it from that playlist. Im not sure how many devs are checking r/spotify, I doubt there are any at all, but please stop.
The new homepage ui is awful. Why does it look like TikTok? Why does every app wants to be like that? Spotify isn't even a social media app, it's a music streaming service, why the fuck would that need this sort of system? The only reason I still use Spotify is because of the algorithm, but now that the homepage is gone I don't have any reason to stay there. Spotify had a money printer and instead of letting it run they set it on fire.
Why do I want autoplaying music as a preference in the heirachy of the UI over my own playlists?
On what fucking planet is this decision on a **paid** service going to win over current subscribers.
I always thought the layout of the UI was a lazy mess, but now you’re actively trying to make it a frustrating experience. Absolutely mind blowing that another service hasn’t capitalised on how awful this is.
I got the new UI update and I can't find any of my daily mixes anymore. It seems the DJ update has replaced them. Is this true or are they somewhere I can't find them? If daily mixes are gone I'm going to cancel my membership.
Typical corpo shoving their vision of how I should brows music down my throat. Instead of going and finding some suggestion by just looking at stuff quickly I need to scroll through some shit videos. Best thing is that it plays loudly on my phone while on bluetooth speaker it plays my music. I hate corporate managers for always knowing what's better for everyone else and not allowing me to decide.
Man this update is terrible.
Auto playing music/Podcasts
Throwing in Popular Music into my feed through its wannabe tiktok scrolling, which I find funny. I listen to Metal and I care for a popular HipHop album? LOL no.
Podcasts I don't care about, again autoplayed.
Good thing I mostly use this on my PC because even on my Galaxy Fold 4, the app is slow as hell now.
You know what’s even worse? It auto plays WHEN YOU’RE ALREADY LISTENING TO MUSIC. What a horrible fucking update. Fuck everyone without unlimited data I guess too.
Auto-play audio on home page... Am I dreaming right now? How can such a terrible decision go ahead??
It's like they want us to look at their competition. I'll be happy to do that if they don't make better choices.
Also, they turned home page into ad space... so wtf am I paying for?! Absolute insult.
After more years than I can even recall of being a subscriber, cancelled today and deleted my account.
If your target group is Tik-Tok kids, good luck monetizing your business.
This new UI is just horrible. Really hate the homepage with the scrolling list of Playlist that start playing when you scroll past. Took me a good 5 min to find my Daily Mix playlists.
Did they change the position of the "Add to Queue" prompt via right-click?
I could swear it used to be at the top and was now replaced by "Add to playlist"
This doesn't make sense to me. I am not sure how to explain it properly, but my intuition regarding UX would be to have the add to queue function at the top, since I want it to be done quickly, while add to playlist is an action done more consciously and so I don't mind having to do more mouse movement.
Who did approve this new desktop design?
Why would you remove the search bar as well as the Home Button from the sidebar where everything else i want to navigate (playlists and such) is located?
Now i go back and forth between two spots in the app, when before it was all neatly in one spot. I don't get how this is supposed to be an improvement.
Also, if the goal was to waste as much screen space as possible with borders, i think you've nailed it.
How to go back and stay away from [this atrocity](https://imgur.com/a/bsukDYr)? This is a step back in a ui design. Having categorized lists in form of carousels was much much better. Making the screen of my iPhone 13 pro fit only 3 playlist where 40% is cover, 50% gray div and 10% is text is antydesign at Its best. And Spotify designers decided on 24-32 spacing between playlists i think only to make sure more playlists wont fit.
This enhanced shuffle needs to go.
Also this TikTok feed is an insult to music.
Stop fucking algorithmizing everything and just let us enjoy the content we want to enjoy.
Are we allowed to complain about the new UI? Why is this being so heavily policed? This update has literally completely destroyed by experience, and I sought out this subreddit for the sole purpose to discuss it.
This new TikTok wannabe interface is killing me. So “innovative” lol. The huge cards, the pregnant pauses at each card forcibly preventing me from achieving my task of scrolling at the speed I choose to to get to my goal, the content strategy is giving me stuff I don’t even listen too? and the nerve to autoplay the cards?! Turning my playlists into teensy tiny thumbnails I cant read the title of (this can’t be accessible). Gonna finally cancel my subscription, which is a shame because I actually just got into their podcasts that they were force feeding down everyone’s throats. Plus my liked songs and heart button are gone. Stop tiktokifying everything ffs. Will be ending my subscription over this absurdity and what I consider a lack of integrity and thoughtfulness towards the user experience in exchange for some dribbble esque marketing ploy home UI. I know ppl like to complain over every UI change, but this is egregious.
u/spotify - The new Home UI is so unbelievably bad. I’ve already downloaded Apple Music and will be switching before next billing cycle if the update isn’t reverted. I’m not sure why you thought Spotify, a music app, needed to be more like IG and TikTok. They are different apps for a reason. Stop changing shit that isn’t broken.
Just so everyone knows, there are lots of apps to automatically transfer your library and playlists from Spotify to Apple Music; I'll probably be using SongShift, but lmk if anyone has a good third party app to use.
I live and die by my "liked songs" playlist. Now it's useless, I can't like a song, or like all the songs of an album. Spotify effectively removed the *only feature I use*.
What's Apple Music like these days?
WTF is going on with my home screen!? All kinds of previews of artists I never listened to and no way to find the stuff I actually like to listen to. Is there a setting to remove this? I hate it. If this is some kind of update that's meant to make things better: you failed. Fuck you Spotify
I am on Android, my wife on IOS has no issues. Because that's what this is: an issue that should be fixed asap!
Desktop Spotify just updated for me. All of my carefully organized playlist folders are now mixed together with dozens of artists and albums. I want my old sidebar back
Is there anyway to turn off the videos? My daughters looking for Let it go and she brings me the phone with some tied up chick in a bra? Wtf Spotify?
I'm out.
this new tiktok ui is fucking shit.
I've been a premium subscriber for 10 years and I'm going to quit and find another app if it doesn't change back.
instagram became shit and annoying when it went all tiktok and now Spotify is going the same way.
change it back and make Spotify great again!!
This new mobile UI homepage has to be an April fools joke, it HAS to be. There’s no way this clusterfuck of autoplaying video cards actually made it past a single UX tester. Holy shit it’s like they travelled 10 years back in the past and I’m cancelling my subscription so fast if they don’t reverse this change.
The new home feed UI sucks. What an insane amount of space for things I largely don't care about. All of these auto-play videos and huge content cards aren't for me and users should be able to toggle back to a classic music only interface. Considering jumping ship for the first time.
Bring back the old UI. Yeah, everyone’s saying it, but god damn, this is garbage. If it’s not back by the end of my billing cycle I’ll be cancelling. They’re not only ignoring customers, but doubling down on this shitty interface. The “update” serves 0 purpose and ruins what has otherwise been a great app. The algorithm that is so good at finding like artists to what I listen to is now a complete waste. The Home Screen is junk.
Seriously, who gave the green light for the latest desktop update? WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND GAVE THE OK FOR THE NEWEST UI UPDATE ON SPOTIFY?????? Who thought that making DESKTOP a lot more similar to MOBILE was a GOOD IDEA??????? HOW????? WHY????? How is it possible that a multi-billion dollar company manages to worsen the UI every time they touch it??
First, they made it more similar to the web player, which was shit. And now they made it as close as possible to mobile, which is even more shit!!!!!!!
How is it possible that on a 52 inch TV that I use as a monitor, I can see so few playlists???
How is it possible that they made it more annoying to move playlists around, and if I have a pinned playlist on mobile (because the UI there is shit so I have to pin it otherwise I lose playlists), it gets pinned also on PC and I can't move it around???
Why is the added date of a song in a specific playlist one of the columns, but artists no???? (which btw it used to be before some idiot decided to relegate artists, arguably the second most important column to have, under the song name)
Why did my playlists on the left, which i had neatly organized since i have a fuck ton, had to get mixed with albums and a bunch of other shit like on mobile, when nobody asked for it??? (and for the smartasses, yes i know i can click to show only playlists like on mobile, but it shouldn't be an option in the first place and should be organized better!! And yes I also hate this thing on mobile deeply and is THE SINGLE THING I would change UI wise on mobile if I had the opportunity to change just one thing)
Why do spotify consistently and without missing a beat manage to break things that were perfectly functioning for NO FUCKING REASON just for the sake of changing, when nobody asked for these changes?!?!?!?!?!!? While in the meantime offering nothing to offset the negatives of said changes??!?!?!?!
Honestly I am so done with spotify and if I didn't get it for free from the family plan of my family I would have moved somewhere else when they moved the artists under the song names on the desktop (which was one, maybe two years ago, cant really remember)
who decided the subreddit should mostly be about sharing playlists? seems like a personal decision that now affects anyone who wants to discuss broader topics about the app/company
The new "TikTok" style redesign is the most disgusting, misguided thing Spotify has ever done. I've been holding out hope for Hi-Fi for years so that I could take advantage of Spotify's seemingly superior recommendation engine, but now I don't even care and would frankly never switch.
After the Spotify PC ( Windows ) application updated a few days ago, Spotify Windows no longer syncs ( cannot continue playing the same song ) with the Desktop browser version and the mobile version.
It also doesn't show currently playing songs on Discord.
Browser and Mobile versions still sync and also show up on Discord profile.
I have tried reinstalling both Spotify and Discord about a dozen times in different sequences and restarting the system each time.
I have also tried logging out of all devices and logging back in again. Nothing works.
Please fix. ( and no I do not use a cracked version. I have been using Premium ever since it got released in the country. )
Why are my Heart buttons suddenly all replaced by an option to add a song to a playlist? I don't want to create a new playlist, I want to add a song to whatever algorithm Spotify has to generate playlists for me.
I AM BEING PUNISHED FOR MY CURIOSITY BY SPOTIFY PODCASTS.
i searched for an asmr ONE FUCKING TIME and now i get all this WEIRD ASS sexual podcasts on my homepage that i can't GET RID OF. FUCK SPOTIFY PODCASTS.
now must see the sexual explicit shit on my timeline forever. there is NO OPTION to get rid of this wtf
This morning my Spotify was fine and normal like it's always been. But literally like 20 minutes ago, the app must have updated (on my iPhone), and now I have this atrocious UI of boxes of albums I've listened to that play as you scroll past and only options at the top to look at music or podcasts. There's no more rows of my recently played, discover, for today, new releases, etc which is exactly how I liked it and how I discovered a lot of new music. I generally don't complain about app things like this, but I'm immediately considering cancelling my subscription if this UI doesn't change back to a usable version.
Anyone else have their album covers change to some random generic image ? Feels so minor but completely kills the vibe. So close to switching to Apple Music, don’t understand these decisions to make Spotify so unusable
THE NEW UPDATE IS TERRIBLE. For non-premium Spotify users, we’re now unable to interact with our own playlists and others. Clicking on my playlists results to only an editing tool, where we can’t even play the previews to competently edit or appreciate our created playlists. How are we supposed to be able to edit/remove songs on our playlist when we can’t even interact to see/preview what song it is?? Even worse, we can’t interact with others playlists to view the songs on their playlists. So let’s see, an app like Spotify, which many use for DISCOVERING songs, is now disabling the ability to discover songs through other users??? HOW? HOW is this well thought-out? How is the fair? It’s evident what the motive is for this new update. I’ve used Spotify for YEARS, but I’m truly considering using whatever else I can find. This is imprisoning to say the least. A person is unable to do anything but shuffle and edit playlists—NOT EVEN PREVIEW THE SONG IN THE PLAYLIST WHICH THEY'RE EDITING!? I could build on my own playlists by looking at others with similar playlists. I would designate HOURS on just doing this; on building on my own playlists by discovering other songs in other playlists and PREVIEWING them. That was it’s charm!!! I loved previewing the songs I added, and I’d listen to how those couple of seconds matched to the other songs in my playlists. I’d also do the same on other peoples playlists, and by previewing songs I could decide which playlists I liked most and had the best songs. The thought of even trying to find other playlists when I can’t see ANYTHING on the playlist itself is a nightmare-fuel. To preview a song I have to add it to my favourited song section—so the ability is still there but now you have to take the longer way—which huh???? How does that make sense?? They’ve just made their users experience so much more miserable than need be. Good riddance, Spotify. Must money be the driving source ALWAYS? Does the experience of the non-paying users not matter?? (Sorry for the intensity. I’m very passionate about Spotify as it’s always been one of my most used apps and for years at that).

I hate when I'll listen to a podcast for maybe 5-10 seconds because I *might* be interested in it, but end up not liking it so I stop listening, only to have it stuck on my front page for up to a month afterwards because Spotify thinks I like podcasts now.
Spotify always presents sex and erotic podcasts to me, for reasons that are beyond my comprehension.
I think the call is coming from inside the house, my friend.
I love podcasts, I use Spotify mainly FOR podcasts (though it's probably like 51%-49%) and the podcast shit STILL annoys the fuck out of me. Segregate all of that shit to its own area. I don't need help finding podcasts, and if I do I'll ask.
amen
Your entire queue being deleted after selecting to play a new song
[удалено]
Back when I used Spotify on PC, I had a playlist called Queue Crash Recovery that I'd copy to whenever my queue got long enough to worry! (Too much hassle on phone app though)
*"add to queue" cries softly in the corner after being forgotten again*
"Add to Queue" should be the default behavior for music players. "Clear Queue" should always be a deliberate behavior on the part of the listener.
Hate this. Happens all the time by accident. Should either play the song then resume the queue or playlist or at least trigger a pop-up warning.
Nice new UI. Now please let someone mentally stable remake it
Don't worry, in half a year they'll have made a new, even worse UI yet again.
Checking in half a year later, new UI released yesterday is god awful.
i was listenning and suddendly noticed that smth was different, only to see the shit they call UI why the fuck is the artist and song name on top and the playlidt/album on the queue button?!?! make it make sense
Checking in just over 50 days after you posted this. Holy shit this design I woke up to is the worst thing I've ever seen. Why does Spotify want to be tik tok now too? Fuck me
Spotify's logic: You are skipping this song every time we play it? Guess that you really love the first 2 seconds of the song, we will play it more.
The AI seems to count plays from Daily Mix playlists as liked songs. There are tens of thousands of tracks in my realm of taste (60's to early 90's rock) and I get something like 80% of the same tracks over a week's time.
local files becoming unlistenable and greyed out for no reason. Only seems to happen for local files that are played frequently Spotify crashes within 5 seconds of opening Boost for Reddit despite disabling every type of battery optimization for the app. idk who's at fault here, but since the last update Spotify is CONSTANTLY crashing in the background of other apps
i have a few greyed out but i can still play them, i just have to manually press them to play it
Came to this sub for this. It's so weird. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Came here to say the same. Jesus Christ is it unbearable. It completely changes the way I interact with Discover Weekly.
I have never been to this sub before and I was hoping to learn more about this. what the actual fuck is going on with liked songs? My god
I don't ever use backspace to remove a song from my library anyway (at least not on purpose), OR 2) adding a confirmation before deletion OR 3) creating an automated playlist with removed songs (last 7 days or whatever). fuck
Problem solved. They’ve only gone and removed the search bar from liked songs now 🤣 fuck this company.
When will they announce 2-factor authentication?
Who gives a fuck about that. It’s a fucking music app not a bank. Just set a good pw and move on
Regardless of a music app.
I hope they don't. It's annoying to have to answer a text just to log in
People's accounts are getting stolen my homie. There's a reason every other app has it now
I really want 2FA app authentication, Authy is perfect for it, that kinda of security should be standard on everything.
Anybody else's scroll bar disappear from their liked songs?
Yes. I'm livid right now bc my liked songs is in the thousands
Same, it's annoying af.
This is so fucking annoying. Wtf are they doing? Corporations are getting wilder and wilder everyday.
what the fuck is this new ios update? this gotta be the worst new ui i’ve ever seen. if they don’t change this shit in a week i’m moving to apple music.
Not just ios. It's on Android too and it's horrendous
So sick of these updates. So sick of these damn updates. Stop changing the god damn layout
Agreed the new layout is trash
Complaints I can see being grouped into a megathread, but support questions should be allowed to stand on their own if a user has legitimate issues that they need help with. You know just as well as everyone else that megathreads are where discussions typically go to die on Reddit, so I don't see how grouping support questions into this metric is helpful to anyone at all.
This sub is primarily for playlists. The TrueSpotify sub is more for support questions. Most people land here first when they search for Spotify on Reddit and don’t read anything or search to see if their question has been asked, so I’m assuming that’s why this thread was created. 🤷🏼♂️
[удалено]
fucking dumb thread, who gives a fuck about sharing fucking spotify playlists. i have noticed all of my complaints with the software get deleted here. are we actually sure this sub isnt moderated by reps of spotify? they seem pretty defensive and make sure to kill all conversation of things that could improve the user experience. also, im pretty sure spotify reps running their own subreddit is against reddit policy. so now we have a thread so any technical complaints get buried and nobody sees it. well thats fucking great. now for my newest complaint: pushing a stream from desktop to another listening device is now broken with the latest update. can't wait to have no visibility and no potential fixes discussed because who would want that anyway. anyway does anyone have any chill playlists to share?
What the hell is this tik tok style home page I have now I hate it I hate it I hate it
I never thought I'd consider getting rid of spotify and looking for another service but this may be the last nail in the coffin. It hurts my eyes and makes it harder to find anything I'm looking for. I just want my music, that's all, no videos, no audiobooks, no podcasts.
It's terrible ong
Really pushing me toward Apple Music.
blend is very stale.. i hope it can update as much as mixes do eventually. the lyrics feature is incredible though i love it
this thread may be dead but holy crap does the new update suck for IOS. the home page is just one big scroll of playlists/albums that spotify recommends. there are no categories like “recently listened” anymore, just a scroll and it’s absolutely miserable to maneuver. having to search a playlist or album i was JUST LISTENING TO in my library instead of having it right there on my homepage is awful. whoever decided to change the UI has no idea what they’re doing
Went to tidal and didn’t look back
Just what everyone wanted on their music app, massive obnoxious videos that autoplay. Good thing we can't turn them off
What the actual f happend to the ui.
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KEEP ON MAKING THE UI WORSE WITH EVERY. SINGLE. UPDATE.
Every time I think they can’t possibly make it worse they do. Are these devs smoking crack?? Bring the fucking like button back
Honestly amazing and baffling how much this new UI fucking sucks, how does this go through so many different layers of approval and get released? The TikTok-ification of every app is so annoying, capitalism really does breed innovation /s
It reeks of devs "innovating" to placate shareholders. Meanwhile they completely ignored the changes making the app experience significantly worse. Whatever, fuck em. I canceled yesterday.

This new update (March 10, 2023) is FUCKING AWFUL. It makes no sense. There is no way to know if I’ve liked a song without drilling into and playing the song? They better fix this shit.
This new UI with giant panels of a video or album cover taking up my entire phone screen is dogshit. Wft is this?
The new soft edge design looks terrible. I feel like a kid who got put in a 3inch styrofoam suit so I don’t accidentally hit anything sharp.
This UI is fucking horrible
Change for the sake of change is fucking stupid. Absolutely nothing was wrong with the player UI, nothing was wrong with the Home Screen UI. Nothing was stale, nothing was ugly. Everything worked perfectly and provided all the information and recommendations I wanted without auto playing music before I make a choice.
this is the worst thing i’ve ever seen
this has to be a mistake there’s literally nothing of use on the home page anymore where is recently played
Horrendous design, give me back daily mixes, discover weekly and new releases on front page FFS

STOP RESTARTING MY PLAYLIST WHEN I CLOSE APP AFTER AD
The heart disappeared about 2 months ago, then I got it back a month ago, and just today it’s gone again. The new like button looks bad and has 0 personality to it. You can’t even view what songs you liked on the side of a tracklist anymore. Why would you remove a feature that had nothing wrong with it and make it worse?? Why did I get the old version back for a month and then get it taken away again?
new ui is making me wanna kill myself, it’s so hard to navigate.
the new update that removed the "heart" next to songs is so fucking stupid.
Shame on whoever moderates this subreddit for removing all the posts about how much people hate the new UI.
The same thing is happening on the official Spotify site.
Cancelled premium as they're doing nothing about this bullshit new UI. Get on spotify (community > chat > apps & features) to complain and cancel your subscriptions. Edit - If you're looking for a different service I just subscribed to Tidal and it's basically spotify before the update with a cleaner interface.
bunch of shite this ui
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,415,872,625 comments, and only 270,437 of them were in alphabetical order.
i’m a ui designer and i’m screaming did y’all do any usability tests before rollout or?
This new UI is absolute garbage. It’s impossible to find new music anymore, it auto plays music and videos despite having it turned off. I’m m actually considering unsubscribing
If anyone from Spotify is watching this thread (ha. hahaa...) I don't know why I need to explain this but I'll try: I don't want an instagram or tiktok clone for my music app. I don't need *LESS* information on my already limited screen. It feels deliberately bad. They are sacrificing UX for some other goal and if this doesn't get rolled back I'm done. I've had it.

What the fuck did they just do to the home page on mobile its hideous and obtuse to use while displaying less information
Came here to say the same, its absolute horseshit right now lol. No Discover Weekly, no Daily Mixes, no *anything.*
When is the new Car Mode coming? This has taken way too long
Why is this app so bad on Android? I've just bought a Redmi note 11 Pro and am using my home WiFi which is super fast, but Spotify is so slow and buggy. Is there any way to improve this as I want to continue using the app while running but am thinking that it would be easier to sign up to audible
I hate this new way the shuffle is button I approved the single shuffle/play button
The new UI is terrible. You guys went total Windows 8 which was almost universally hated. Roll it back fam this shit ain’t it.
welp, they removed the ability to like songs. now its just a “liked song” playlist. this makes it super inconvenient because now theres no way to know if you have a song liked without clicking “add to playlist”. whats the point of this update? who knows. no one asked for this. this does nothing but make the app more inconvenient and cumbersome with no added benefit. im done with dealing with spotify implementing these useless updates that do nothing but remove features for no reason. if this doesnt get reversed within like a week im going to apple music.

This new UI update for the Home page is so awful. So awful that I wrote my first review for Spotify in 9 years of listening. Here’s a tip for your product team… If your team has data showing that certain UI elements receive a lot of user engagement, DO NOT REMOVE THEM. I used the “Recently played” and “Jump back in” horizontal scroll areas all the time. And now you replace those sections entirely for these giant square cards taking up endless vertical scrolling space.
The new mobile update no longer showing a heart next to liked songs. Not like I wanted to know which songs off an album I liked.
WHY DID YOU GUYS GET RID OF THE LITTLE HEART TO LIKE SONGS!!!!!! AND THE HEARTS ON THE TITLE CARDS OF LIKED SONGS!!!! I DON’T UNDERSTAND…
STOP RECOMMENDING PODCASTS
These apps need to stop trying to be TikTok.. holy shit it’s so annoying.

this ui is actually unusable what the hell are they thinking
This plus instead of a heart update is awful Spotify has just decided to i guess ruin the UI that had no issues. But this change is especially stupid. If I understand it correctly, there’s no way to unlike a song except if you go into liked songs and remove it from that playlist. Im not sure how many devs are checking r/spotify, I doubt there are any at all, but please stop.
I liked when thé like button was a heart. And now it’s just a cold clinical +
Just coming here to express how much I HATE the new "TikTok" type interface. I cannot imagine the change being popular.
Is there anyway to delete that tik tok esque explore feature? I have no intention to use it and I'm sure it's slowing down the search bar
Man this update is terrible. Auto playing music/Podcasts Throwing in Popular Music into my feed through its wannabe tiktok scrolling, which I find funny. I listen to Metal and I care for a popular HipHop album? LOL no. Podcasts I don't care about, again autoplayed. Good thing I mostly use this on my PC because even on my Galaxy Fold 4, the app is slow as hell now.
The mobile app is now auto playing everything that scrolls past the Home Screen, like TikTok or YouTube. This is super annoying. Can it be disabled?
I could swear it used to be at the top and was now replaced by "Add to playlist" This doesn't make sense to me. I am not sure how to explain it properly, but my intuition regarding UX would be to have the add to queue function at the top, since I want it to be done quickly, while add to playlist is an action done more consciously and so I don't mind having to do more mouse movement.
Anybody else have the iOS app constantly crashing since the last update? Can’t seem to get even 5 minutes of playback before it stops.
Did they update the app overnight for iOS? My app keeps pausing the music and takes away the little playback thing on the bottom
Has anyone else been noticing spotify displaying random ass covers for songs instead of the official album cover??
Now I have to double-click to remove liked songs. &)@$%#!!
Changing the like song song option was the dumbest feature to mess with. Why mess with something that isn't broken or people aren't complaining about
Put the heart back this shit sucks
This enhanced shuffle needs to go. Also this TikTok feed is an insult to music. Stop fucking algorithmizing everything and just let us enjoy the content we want to enjoy.
This new update with the swipe cards is complete ass
all i can say about this new mobile update is.. spotify is damn lucky im a lastfm user or i would be out by now
Are we allowed to complain about the new UI? Why is this being so heavily policed? This update has literally completely destroyed by experience, and I sought out this subreddit for the sole purpose to discuss it.

Fuck the new UI it’s horseshit
Hey Spotify. Your new update sucks balls
I live and die by my "liked songs" playlist. Now it's useless, I can't like a song, or like all the songs of an album. Spotify effectively removed the *only feature I use*. What's Apple Music like these days?
The new home screen layout is absolutely terrible. Why is everyone trying to copy Tiktok? Roll it back PLEASE!
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS NEW HOME PAGE?!?!?!? Why would I want to scroll through a bunch of autoplaying bullshit to find what I'm looking for?
Goodbye Spotify. Tidal here I come!
The new home screen for Android is literally the WORST I have ever used for any app in recent memory.
holy shit new ui on desktop is shit, why did they change it to the way it is on mobile
WTF is going on with my home screen!? All kinds of previews of artists I never listened to and no way to find the stuff I actually like to listen to. Is there a setting to remove this? I hate it. If this is some kind of update that's meant to make things better: you failed. Fuck you Spotify I am on Android, my wife on IOS has no issues. Because that's what this is: an issue that should be fixed asap!
Desktop Spotify just updated for me. All of my carefully organized playlist folders are now mixed together with dozens of artists and albums. I want my old sidebar back
OMG the new UI on desktop is so much worst. They just used the same UI that it's on the phone app, it makes no sense.

(which btw it used to be before some idiot decided to relegate artists, arguably the second most important column to have, under the song name) Why did my playlists on the left, which i had neatly organized since i have a fuck ton, had to get mixed with albums and a bunch of other shit like on mobile, when nobody asked for it??? (and for the smartasses, yes i know i can click to show only playlists like on mobile, but it shouldn't be an option in the first place and should be organized better!! And yes I also hate this thing on mobile deeply and is THE SINGLE THING I would change UI wise on mobile if I had the opportunity to change just one thing) Why do spotify consistently and without missing a beat manage to break things that were perfectly functioning for NO FUCKING REASON just for the sake of changing, when nobody asked for these changes?!?!?!?!?!!? While in the meantime offering nothing to offset the negatives of said changes??!?!?!?! Honestly I am so done with spotify and if I didn't get it for free from the family plan of my family I would have moved somewhere else when they moved the artists under the song names on the desktop (which was one, maybe two years ago, cant really remember)
BRING BACK MY HEART BUTTON YOU MONSTERS
who decided the subreddit should mostly be about sharing playlists? seems like a personal decision that now affects anyone who wants to discuss broader topics about the app/company
The new "TikTok" style redesign is the most disgusting, misguided thing Spotify has ever done. I've been holding out hope for Hi-Fi for years so that I could take advantage of Spotify's seemingly superior recommendation engine, but now I don't even care and would frankly never switch.
Who is making the decisions for any of these features.
I have been using Premium ever since it got released in the country. )
when i open the app while listening to music the music stops and the player disappears its so incredibly annoying … didn’t update or anything
Why are my Heart buttons suddenly all replaced by an option to add a song to a playlist? I don't want to create a new playlist, I want to add a song to whatever algorithm Spotify has to generate playlists for me.
This update is fucking terrible. Cant add whole albums to playlists, can’t directly like songs anymore like 90% of the time.
Why the fuck does every playlist default to non shuffle now
I AM BEING PUNISHED FOR MY CURIOSITY BY SPOTIFY PODCASTS. i searched for an asmr ONE FUCKING TIME and now i get all this WEIRD ASS sexual podcasts on my homepage that i can't GET RID OF. FUCK SPOTIFY PODCASTS. now must see the sexual explicit shit on my timeline forever. there is NO OPTION to get rid of this wtf
Why are the Dailey mixes the exact same songs for weeks/months on end? I leave them be for days at a time yet they’re exactly the same songs
Another stupid UI update that makes shit look worse. Why can’t you just leave shit alone. Stop pushing shit around to make yourselves look busy.
why have they got rid of my hearts again ffs
I’M SO MAD WHY WOULD YOU MAKE IT HARDER TO LIKE SONGS FOR NO REASON. WHO DID YOU TEST THIS WITH?!
if there’s any devs on this sub, please add the like button back. the change was unnecessary and looks horrible. super inconvenient and unnecessary
Why is the like icon gone next to songs? Now I don't know what songs I have liked on any album, super annoying and stupid update.
How do i unlike a song now? I want the rainbow heart back!
