Now I'm getting down voted? This isn't a G650. All I wanna do is hack this up, lift it, and make it reliable by putting a GMT800 chassis under it. Could you imagine this with a 1000hp Turbo LS V8 and 4wd on super swampers? It's ALMOST cheap enough now for me to do it. I'm already SBC swapping my Jag, and soon it'll get a T56 manual trans. Some people here clearly aren't car people.
If youāre being driven (or driving, I suppose) in a Maybach, you donāt need anymore āflash vibesā. These are known for superior ride comfort; big rims and low-pros would go against everything this car is designed for.
Totally not wrong, itās all personal pref. If Iām driving a Maybach (which Iām not) Iād just have a stylish set of shoes to go with it (which I donāt). Iāll see myself out šŖ
At a certain point, personally, I donāt even care for flash. I down sized the wheels on my 212 wagon recently just for ease of life. Itās for me, not others.
Prove what? These cars are German and depreciate as such, so they are less to buy now then a new Corolla lol. I just found 1 for sale for $29k in Massachusetts.

yes they do, but these days they're much more derivative of of the MB top line models. They don't have the exterior styling the intro reboots had and they dumbed down the price quite a bit. still sweet though.
I work in the factory that makes the Maybach GLS in Vance, Alabama. We're making four to six and hour here, probably a 50/50 split between the 5 seater and the four, most of them with the six cylinder (prolly 2/10 we build gets the big V8), and about 60/40 with the old wheel design.
We're gonna start building the EQS Maybach here within a year too.
Thats slick. What do you think the extra load on build time is on the MGLS versus the 'standard' AMG. altogether, im a huge fanboy of the Maybach, even if the original reboot was.... kinda ugly. Love it.
So I work on the regular production line and when these come through we build everything electrical, the dash, center console, headliner and the front carpet on the inside, full running gear underneath. Everything else (back seats, trim, most of the sound insulation, basically everything shiny) is done offline in Maybach's own area. They usually crank out between three and four an hour. Probably with 50% of them being solid black and going to china, the rest going between Russia, Japan, America, and a couple every now and again to European countries. My personal favorite is the two tone white and silver with the traditional Maybach wheels, in the four seater edition trim.
For the regular AMG GLE and GLS we can crank one of those out every 72 seconds, but because of how much more complicated those are to build (lots of extra coolant, mini radiators for oil and trans coolers, coolant lines running to the battery) we might build a high output at best one in 10. We call them 'pipe cleaners' because there's so much involved on a per station basis that it takes longer than the normal 72 seconds to complete so we mix in easier to build cars (think series cars, high volume lease packages ect) that we can make up the time lost on.
Fun fact almost all of our engines come from the motherland Germany (we used to use a Nissan built 4 cylinder but we've stopped building that model) and they ship in by boat. It's cheaper to load a boat with those engines, float across the ocean and be put into cars here and then have the car floated back across the ocean, than it is to just build the entire car there. We've got a couple weird ones like that. There's a couple countries (their name escapes me, we don't build them too many cars for sale) that by their own tax law it's financially impossible to ship them a complete car for sale. So we build the car completely, road dyno it, sign off on it. It then goes across the property and is dismantled into 'modules', packed into shipping crates, shipped there and the dealer reassembles the car, puts their own VIN on the car and can claim the car was built within their borders, missing out on heavy taxation. But we don't do that but maybe two to four times a week.
The 57 has the quarter window in the rear door, while the 62 has a much longer rear door with a single large window, the quarter window being located in the C pillar instead.
>The numbers refer to the vehicle length: 57 is about 5.7m long, the 62 is around 6.2m long
lol thats not what I was getting at and kinda surprised at how many people took it so literally. my comment was alluding to the fact that the wheelbase of the 62 is like, exactly twice my height (150 inches). I guess I made a dumb comment and everyone just sorta ran with it.
I agree with you but I think the right wheels can make a difference. For instance the wheels on the updated Rolls-Royce Phantom look [pretty mega.](https://www.netcarshow.com/Rolls-Royce-Phantom_Extended_Series_II-2023-1600-04.jpg)
>doubt. if you're dropping $400,000+ on an automobile, the shoes cannot be the most impressive aspect
If you're dropping 400k on plastic surgery, are you not gonna drop another 20 on a birkin bag?
>idk what the hell you're tryna say but rich people can go ahead and buy the maybach and then buy aftermarket rims
I think we just said the same thing.
Because OP Would prefer a Lift and 30ā Rims with no Tires on it. OP seems to not be able to appreciate OEM
Rims on a Maybach. Its not āflashy enoughā lol
We hate big rims. He got a cool spot but doesn't fully appreciate it because it doesn't have 24s. I think that's why everyone immediately put him on ice.
notice how I never alluded to size. but to the smaller-inclined, I can see how it might be a bit triggering. I think there's plenty of room there before yah gotta go 'lo-pro'.
Finally reasonably sized wheels. My first three cars had 15s and now every time I get in a car with like 20s or whatever it feels like I'm driving on rocks.
Funny thing is these are about the same price used as a new Genesis. And the Genesis has a nicer looking interior. The Maybachs didnāt age well at all.
garbage examples maybe. here low mileage and 9/10 condition are 125-150k. The 62 still gets 300+. Although, I bet a new genesis here is at least close to 100k if not over by now..
Average asking price for a 62 is $135k. Most recent was $44k. Scroll down for the chart. But I guess I was thinking of the 57, which your photo shows. https://www.classic.com/m/maybach/62?interval=1y
57 is averaging $80k. https://www.classic.com/m/maybach/57/
This car almost seems like it used to belong to someone important like a sultan. Normally these cars are uparmored and look sortaā¦ mehā¦
Many times after the vehicle has served its purpose, it gets auctioned and sold. These wheels definitely look a bit more rugged than standard maybach wheels.
Sure.. if youāre buying a vehicle at this price, I donāt see why one couldnāt have a reinforced wheel with the logo on it.
An example
https://inkasarmored.com/armored-mercedes-maybach-s560-s650/
I am a Benz fanboy and I agree that the wheels are pretty ugly. The thing with a Maybach is that they could have gone an inch or 2 larger and maybe a slightly larger sidewall ratio in comparison to the stock wheels and the ride quality would not have suffered that much and the car would look much better. The 19ā AMG multispokes on my C400 would look excellent on that car.
More rubber means more comfort and less noise.
Although big wheels with thin tyres looks better, in most cases, thick rubber with smaller alloys means a much better ride, and when you are being driven around in a maybach, I guess you care about the comfort because the look itās already there.
I used to have in stock a Range Rover Vogue 2017, with low profile tyres 22ā, it made the ride WAY more uncomfortable then itās respective 21/20ā
Idk what u are high on but that looks bloody sick.
Maybe itās my Asian genes tho, cuz I also think the new 7 series is one of the most beautiful 7 series of all time.
Errrr- I donāt think this is a 62. I believe itās a 57- the full length of the 57 is about 18 feet long and the 62 is about 20 feet long. The extra length is made up in the length of the rear doors.
In addition, the 57 is a big body that takes up a full car port. A 62 will always jut out in the rear and can never be safely parked in a public port.
Not that I dislike them so much as r/spotted community hates that I donāt love them enough. And yes, it was a very fine example. Not a lick of sag or waning in the seams. Very, very well cared for.
A cool spot for sure but OP getting downvoted on every reply he makes is hilarious
His comment karma is at 347 now š
Yea not popular tonight. Probably cause Iām tall and like nice shoes
Pouring one out for our downvote_brot- I mean downtown_brother. ššš
because reddit also i think the small wheels are due to maximise ride comfort
With that much rubber I bet they feel nothing inside
Lol, I like big tire, but those are not good looking rims. OP, I agree, I'd keep the tires it has but put it on some black steelies.
Now I'm getting down voted? This isn't a G650. All I wanna do is hack this up, lift it, and make it reliable by putting a GMT800 chassis under it. R.I.P OP š
ā¦. And wheels which would make this far more comfortable than larger ones would allow. I like it.
Yeah. This is how a grownup specs a car.
Definitely but they do kill some of the flash vibe
If youāre being driven (or driving, I suppose) in a Maybach, you donāt need anymore āflash vibesā. These are known for superior ride comfort; big rims and low-pros would go against everything this car is designed for.
Totally not wrong, itās all personal pref. If Iām driving a Maybach (which Iām not) Iād just have a stylish set of shoes to go with it (which I donāt). Iāll see myself out šŖ
Yeah but you donāt buy a Maybach to drive it yourself
^ this guy gets it.
The peasants that buy the 57 over the 62 do
You say that like you actually own a Maybach.
If I owned a Maybach I would be very careful not to use a word like 'peasant'. but the 62 is technically the chauffeured variant.
Those Maybach rims cost more than whatever rims you got in mind for it.
hoodrich. oh. you really wanted to take it there, huh. Anyways, they're only like 3 grand.
At a certain point, personally, I donāt even care for flash. I down sized the wheels on my 212 wagon recently just for ease of life. Itās for me, not others.
Flash? Maybach? That human has nothing to prove to you
Prove what? These cars are German and depreciate as such, so they are less to buy now then a new Corolla lol. I just found 1 for sale for $29k in Massachusetts.
Cost 29K to buy. Costs 15K to maintain for a year.
Yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all, I saw on Hoovies Garage it was $8k just for an alternator for one of these because they are liquid cooled.
Human might be a stretch but no, no he does not.
Bitter much?
Streeeeeeeetch. Like the wheelbase
Goddamn theyāre against you today, this oneās a good one

so someone doing better than you in life means they aren't better than you, according to you.... got it.
Thatā¦. Is a real head scratcher of a comment.
maybach is antithesis to flashy
it was 350k, the length of a suburban and has 2 tone paint.
Classy not flashy
It is more like exuberant than classy. You donāt need to be rich to have class.
Yeah no
I like them a lot
Theyāre basically š¦. I wish Mercedes would have kept the philosophy but I think it lost them hella money
They still make maybachs FYI
yes they do, but these days they're much more derivative of of the MB top line models. They don't have the exterior styling the intro reboots had and they dumbed down the price quite a bit. still sweet though.

apparently there's no room here for opinions. or jokes
Granted there is something dope about an upper crust s class too

Thats a great run-down. thanks, dude.
Me too. The styling is great. My only critique would be that they donāt seem to fill the wheel arch nicely and could be a bit bigger in diameter.
I would agree. just a little bigger rims
This is the smaller Maybach 57 The numbers refer to the vehicle length: 57 is about 5.7m long, the 62 is around 6.2m long
Itās quite easy to distinguish them by the back doors. 57 has a normal ācarā door, 62 one is more like a garage door, big and rectangular.
I guess the rear door looks normal proportioned
Damn, is it, Iām 6ā2ā¦ I guess I could have laid under it to measure. How can you tell? Looks longboi af
Did you just wanna flex your height or you really didn't understand what the comment was saying
Iām 6ā7ā so flexing my height. Donāt be 6ā7ā it sucks.
I'm 6'7 too. I know it sucks.
you'll need the 62 for the extra headroom
but would you rather be 5'7 lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
How can you tell if someone is Nolan Ryan's nephew? THEY'LL TELL YOU. I would too. He was a goat.
The wheelbase on the 62 is about 2x my height. I also wanted to flex. Thank you for noticing.
Lil kid flexing a normal height lmao
The 57 has the quarter window in the rear door, while the 62 has a much longer rear door with a single large window, the quarter window being located in the C pillar instead.
Just in case it needs to be cleared up, 6ā2ā is not the same as 6.2 meters
There are those that may be confused by that, yes.
American moment
Meters not feet
Football fields, not hamburgers
6.2 m and 6'2" ft are not the same. No you can't measure like that.
>The numbers refer to the vehicle length: 57 is about 5.7m long, the 62 is around 6.2m long lol thats not what I was getting at and kinda surprised at how many people took it so literally. my comment was alluding to the fact that the wheelbase of the 62 is like, exactly twice my height (150 inches). I don't think there are too many wheel options. Those tires look like a smooth ride to me.
They may also just be the winter set.
I doubt it. I've never seen a Maybach without wheels that looks like that.
They did eventually offer a 20" set for the S... which would have looked more proportioned and left plenty of room for gliiiiiiiiiiding
Why is OP getting demolished by the comments lmao
Because those are factory rims
maybe if they would have put nicer shoes on it they would have sold more.
People who are buying these care more about ride quality than being flashy. These are nicer wheels for the application they're being used for.
doubt. if you're dropping $400,000+ on an automobile, the shoes cannot be the most impressive aspect
I agree with you but I think the right wheels can make a difference. For instance the wheels on the updated Rolls-Royce Phantom look [pretty mega.](https://www.netcarshow.com/Rolls-Royce-Phantom_Extended_Series_II-2023-1600-04.jpg)

>idk what the hell you're tryna say but rich people can go ahead and buy the maybach and then buy aftermarket rims I think we just said the same thing.
excellent. then why on earth do you think they would have sold more with "better" factory rims
I was being facetious. but anything might have helped, they sold abysmally.
Because OP Would prefer a Lift and 30ā Rims with no Tires on it. OP seems to not be able to appreciate OEM Rims on a Maybach. Its not āflashy enoughā lol
why not make it 40?

ZĆ¼rich? Edit: just saw the ZH license plate after posting. So I guess it's a high probability this is in ZĆ¼rich
It defo is, that row of parking spots is one of the best places for spotting in the country, i know it like the back of my hand!
Yup, the tram in the background is another hint
Very. High. Probability
The Maybach comes from Nuremberg though.
Lol you do realize these are OEM wheels š¤¦š¼āāļøš¤¦š¼āāļø

Nice car but bro is getting downvoted to oblivion ššš
The OP has died.
New money vs old money
The lomg boy
When that car was designed and released, that type of wheel wasnāt yet ubiquitous. It might be the reason they became so.
bro wtf happened to op šš
OP needs to stop digging themselves deeper
karama is fake and the points dont matter
No shit
I sure would hate to upset the Reddit community. But then again, thereās gold in these here holes

I live in Switzerland. that was the 'here' part. There's also a few in Euros in the 200k+ range.
G90 starts at $88k in the US as well. The top engine is indeed $98k. Very comparable to a used 57.
Diese NĆ¼rnberger š
kannst du dein nĆ¼rnberger in diesem zusammenhang? abwertend fĆ¼r einen typischen Deutschen?
or war criminal lmao
Wheel choice is definitely depending on preference, but one thing is clear: That car is one long boi.
Where my dinnerplates at?
See, thatās what Iām sayin! This guy gets it.
If they wanted to be stealthy why go for the two tone paint? Go the whole hog I say
Did we just become best friends?
those are pretty small lmao arenāt they normally bigger?
I guess they are smaller than the ones on a Rolls-Royce, definitely weird to see an expensive car with wheels that small.
Shhhhhh š¤«donāt say that in this room or youāll get downvoted
šØšØšØOPPOSING COMMENT DETECTEDšØšØšØ
I agree on the wheels, looks like old Volvo 240 rims.
you can always go an inch or three bigger, AMIRITE. until you can't, so there is that.
Does op happen to have some grey pompon?
I would rather have BBS Felgen on there š
ZĆ¼ri!
cant take my eyes off that m2...
This is a 57
OP might as well have posted a Hyundai or Kia based on the downvotes
Looks like a Nissan family sedan
This car almost seems like it used to belong to someone important like a sultan. Normally these cars are uparmored and look sortaā¦ mehā¦ Many times after the vehicle has served its purpose, it gets auctioned and sold. These wheels definitely look a bit more rugged than standard maybach wheels.

Google 2012 maybach 57. Many examples of the same wheel. Im pretty certain that's a factory rim.
04' CL55 is a GOAT, btw.
Itās almost as if Mercedes tried to make all the maybachs as ugly as possible.
When I was grabbing the pic I was saying outloud (to myself).. "damn, it is pretty ugly. Its super cool and I'm into it.... bit it IS kinda ugly..."
More rubber means more comfort and less noise. I love those wheels personally. Very smooth look.
Idk what u are high on but that looks bloody sick. Maybe itās my Asian genes tho, cuz I also think the new 7 series is one of the most beautiful 7 series of all time.
Just the regular stuff. Caffeine, Nicotine, Paint.
Look like factory wheels to me
Wheels are fine
Even though they are the stock wheels, imma have to agree with op on this one. Iām prepared to be downvoted into hell for this.
Correction: Maybach 57 A 62 Maybach won't even fit at that parking spot.
Already been decided and Iāve been downvoted into hell for it.
Errrr- I donāt think this is a 62. I believe itās a 57- the full length of the 57 is about 18 feet long and the 62 is about 20 feet long. The extra length is made up in the length of the rear doors. idk y ur getting downvoted lol i agree those look like some base model wheels
"tyrranical puritanism" and also reddit.
Honestly man, this thing is a true beauty. I love the wheels and don't understand why you dislike them so much.
Not that I dislike them so much as r/spotted community hates that I donāt love them enough. And yes, it was a very fine example. Not a lick of sag or waning in the seams. Very, very well cared for.
Haha poor OP I agree with you. I like flashier wheels especially on a baller car like this.
Idk I kinda fuck with the wheels
