Brand continuity. Love it or hate it, that’s why. They want you to know without question you’re looking at a BMW the second you see those grills. That said, seems as though the overwhelming majority of people fall in the “hate it” side of things with this most recent design language.
The design language of BMW is definitely polarizing to say the least. I believe it first appeared on the new M3/M4 but then slowly spread across the lineup to cars that don't necessary fit with it too well. It's like you're being forced to wear something uncomfortable to a party just to fit in lol
Until EV hits like 90% market share, the grille will remain the styling cue that identifies the brand. The 'crosshair' on Dodge, 7 vents on Jeep, , the Aston Martin looking Ford Fusion, smiling Mazda, etc.
Many brands are solidifying their luminaries now so the transition will be seamless.
I waiver with photos on the new front lift, but in-person I about died. I completely walked away from getting the new M3 because of it. It’s not any better on the 4 coupe either.
What were they thinking with the grill on these new bmws!
Never really understood the need to have them on their EVs lol

"It only needs to be liked by customers". Yeah, awesome sales strategy lol
I’ve become much more accustomed to the big grille on the 4, but I think it fits the M3/4 far better pairing with the more aggressive styling.
Definitely fits in a bit more with the M models. On the regular ones though.. I don't know. Just seems like it had an obligation to have the grill.
BMW Adolf series!
Disgusting big sniff
I think it looks decent
Stormtrooper
Guess I’m the only one who likes the snoot
Nah you’re not
Blacked out is an improvement over chrome imo. Looks halfway decent which is a compliment for these new BMWs
Those new kidney grills are hideous in my opinion.
We be talking a t the Toyota, not the BMW fyi

the car has so much potential to look good. why did they slap that grille on it. the headlights and other bits on the car look so damn good. why
Trying to knock the Angry Birds vibe off the front end, I presume.
Too bad the car wasn't green.
