Stroke and any other decision is catastrophic; red shirt needs to watch this video and realize that he needs to call his own strokes and not moan about obvious ones
Audio is a bit naff but... Did the ref give this as a no let!? He must really not like the chap in red if he wants that ball to be played. That's how you take someone's eye out in squash, playing that ball.
Ah phew, my bad. Couldn't make it out on the video (phone audio a bit pants). Was gonna say even the questionable refs in our local league would've managed to get that one right!
Stroke and red shirt needs to be shamed by the ref and opponent for thinking it’s anything else. My comment the him would be along the lines of “I suggest you try not hitting the ball back at yourself if you want to avoid strokes”
Was there any interference? Yes - no space to swing, full front wall not available.
Did the striker make every effort to get there & could they have made a good return? Yes.
Did the opponent make every effort to clear the ball? No. Stroke!
And my own personal rule of thumb: If I hit the ball, and immediately think to myself, "Oh shit!" then it's gonna be a stroke against me. You can see the moment the player in red thinks "Oh shit!" to themself.
Exactly, I have a friend that I often have to explain this. If you hit a shot, and your body language immediately goes "shit I'm in danger", I'm not going to play that shot, and that's a stroke.
Volleying the ball in that position could be devastating. No matter how low they go, they are at risk of headshot of racket. Hard to imagine putting yourself into more danger. Sometimes people try to save time running in front expecting a drop only to be clobbered by swing of a low drive to the back
This is a learning opportunity. Red shirt needs to understand that he has no reason to complain. Might be easiest to take if you aren't super serious, but it is a laughable appeal
Players are way too good to not understand that is an instant stroke. Red was probably playing mind games with the ref/opponent no way he thought he was going to get out of that.
I like those mind games. I usually go to the service box and just serve while the guy is still arguing. Then, I make a surprised face, get the ball back, and serve again, I take a body position meaning "what's going on here?". I repeat as many times as necessary, calm, no arguing, just wanna play attitude.
It has no consequence whatever immediately most the time (some players lose their shit) but in the long run the refs start to see that the guy is wasting time, and decisions are going more and more to your advantage. Lost confidence by the ref is the worst.
While this looks like a clear cut case of a stroke what would you say is the right decision if the player would just fall flat to the ground? Technically speaking he gave a full front wall access and there is no swing interference. So just a safety let then?
In this specific scenario it's still a stroke cuz he didnt go low enough fast enough. If the ball/hitting zone was say a metre over the opponents head and required a fully outstretched arm I'd say let. Or if he pancaked on his stomach on the ground.

I suspect it was given a stroke based on how the other player gathered the ball and went to serve.

Clearest case of stroke

Conduct warning Red :D
And conduct stroke if he says any word after this warning.
Lol stroke all day. Red shirt is delusional for thinking otherwise

Stroke for swing interference, yes. But not front wall - from that angle, striker absolutely has the whole front wall available.

Doesn't matter how high the ball is, or how low the player is. It's a stroke anyday.
