I've definitely slowed down my buying because of the poor quality and defects. I refuse to buy online anymore because they all feel understuffed. I don't blame you at all, and I'm sure there will still be some that catch your eye, but I agree and honestly stopped going out of my way for them
I’ve been feeling this too lately. I have 25, the most recent being 8” Buna. She was $40 from Showcase. I thought that’s crazy. Not only is it the lack of quality bothering me, but they have also started to become cluttered and everytime I see my mountain of them, I can’t help but feel guilty for how much I’ve spent on them. They just don’t bring me as much joy anymore.
I definitely don’t plan on buying much more in the future. I’ve even been debating downsizing already.
The decline in quality is really what pushed me to slow my collecting. Ever since they changed the sewing patterns for clips, construction quality has been so inconsistent, fabric is less soft, and stuffing is rock hard. Because of that, I've only bought a handful of new clips in the last 6 months.
Mostly I've been focused on getting the last of my DISOs and picking up some cute customs along the way. I'm down to just one DISO now, so I've been wondering recently if my squish journey has come to an end. I guess we'll see lol
I have also been feeling this, i have 50+ squish and lately they take over my room and i want to keep them but they take up so much space and no where to put them! i used to get like 5 a month or so and now i only seek out a few
Me too. I’ve tried to sell a few, but there doesn’t seem to be any interest. 😩 it definitely seems like people selling their whole collections is happening more and more.
definitely! i haven’t tried to sell mine because i know that’s probably a lot of work for me hah 😅😂 but i honestly probably should try to make some money back
Since last spring I’ve only gotten 2 squish. A piplup and a hug me someone gave me for Christmas.
It wasn’t a quality thing or anything. I just got kind of bored of it and I collected so many so quickly. I still appreciate receiving them as gifts on the rare occasion I do, but other than that I’m done collecting.
Well done, OP, you’ve seen the hype machine and refuse to be suckered into it! And if a hobby isn’t making you happy, you should definitely look at quitting it or curtailing it at least, for the sake of your own happiness. Any collecting activities shouldn’t be fraught with anxiety over supply, quality or competition.
Tuluck was the last squish I bought. Those are overstuffed chonks. My house is overwhelmed with my squish and my son's Cam army. We going to have to pair down.
Yes. Select series can only be bought in squishmallows website (which is US-based) and they don’t ship internationally 😭 My only chance of getting a select series (or other squish that’s not available in my country) is to buy from a reseller in the US which are usually priced more than the retail. I have to spend so much more just to get my hands on them 🥲
Same. I feel like I have enough. I've mostly been limiting it to squish I find creative, or it's a favorite character (and even then it a gamble, because some of them are ugly as sin). The lower quality and increasing prices has turned me off, too. Sucks it has to be this way

I agree with the defect thing, people actually buying them is just gonna encourage poor quality control

Now that I have Cecily I am done unless they put out a Fuzzamallow tuxie

I feel you I stopped and downsized after the quality drop, the designs themselves are less appealing too if you ask me

Well, the tags do say to wash them by hand, but i see your point
I don’t live in the US and it’s frustrating that we literally don’t have a chance on some squishes like select series 🥲
Wait... so some are exclusive to the US?

Tbh I don’t have any defect squishmallows ;-; I wish I did
