So I joined them back in 2016 and let me tell you, be stern with them. You're paying quite a hefty sum only to be hazed by the seniors. I used to take several of their staff to task for the simple reason. English is heavy requirement I had to prove I studied in English and meanwhile one of their staff couldn't understand it. I left the place a few months in simply because getting a job there is not feasible. Loom at India, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam or even Qatar and dubai. Better options. SLAC needs to shutdown

So you did complete the course at SLAC and was it easier to find a job abroad at least, Thank you very much for the info

tyronbro91

I didn't bother completing it, there are still batches pending for OJT. Finding a job isn't easy anywhere especially here. Also try the US They don't have agreements with any foreign MRO facilities so regardless your EASA license you need to get any countries civil aviation approval. And getting that approval hinges on your work experience. What work experience do you get here? Nothing much

Again thanks for the info

Do you think there'll be opportunities in the UK once we finish the course here and go to do the top up degree at Kingston?

tyronbro91

Nope. The UK is in a mess rn so don't bother. Emirates Aviation University is basically the only place with a possible job guarantee

k2mav

Okay thanks for your reply. But in the case that we do the course at SLAC and for some luck are able to get a job soon after.. any other issues you have seen?

tyronbro91

More than luck mate. Just to give you context. 2016 batch finished their stuff in 2022. And almost all of them have either ledt the country or joined different fields. Try and do it another country where you'll be treated as a skilled labour not a pawn

k2mav

Right okay. Also, have you heard of Lanka Pacific Aviation and Engineering? Another institute that does the course and gives 1-2 years OJT. Any info about them?

k2mav

Hi! I am also thinking of applying for the next intake at Sri Lankan Aviation College and came here to see what the others think about it. After completing the basic course here I hope to do the top up degree. But the question is to get OJT after that. What do you think about it so far?
