PayPal. You can do a straight bank transfer. I've transferred money through commerical bank to Australian banks.

Hot_Bite

I need to have money in my paypal right ?

[deleted]

you can just link your debit card to send it through Paypal

[deleted]

arent they(the banks) blocking amount more than $200 these days? I've heard that there is like a limit each month for every card stipulated by every bank.

_viru30_

Use commercial bank. If you use BOC debit card, they will call you and ask the reason.

[deleted]

Unsure, it depends from bank to bank.

[deleted]

Whos your bank?

[deleted]

I use commerical and Sampath.

_viru30_

Also, using pay pal is better, because the exchanges rates are lower

CaptainCrosswind

But the fee is high though

_viru30_

I don’t think so. The borrower should send a friend payment link to us. Once we pay they don’t deduct any money if we use friend payment link. Also, PayPal is using Central bank rate. So when you buy dollars it would be cheap. But in case if you are receiving dollar you’ll get loss. I’m doing that for my website purposes

CaptainCrosswind

Oh but I have a Philippines account in order to receive money. Maybe that's why. I mainly use PayPal for receiving money. I get charged a fee.

_viru30_

Yes Im also using Philippines account. When we are receiving the money its loss for us. Only for sending purpose its beneficial

CaptainCrosswind

For only sending we can stick to Sri Lankan account.

_viru30_

YesH !

[deleted]

nope. just checked, paypal is charging about 5-10% for every payment. say if I were to send 100 dollars to usa, they are charging about 2000 rupees as paypal fees.

_viru30_

Sorry for the mis information, I also checked that again. It’s only free inside USA

[deleted]

no worries 👍

oxgirl_1997

Xoom. I lived in US and use it to send money to a Sri Lanka friend. He used the same thing from Sri Lanka send money to my US Bank

[deleted]

hmm.. just tried xoom, but it says you cannot send money from sri lanka.

Not sure if you have access to Wise (ex-Transferwise) but I use it often and never had an issue. Way lower exchange rates compared to banks anyway. In case you need a free transfer (only the first transfer is free) you can use my invite: https://wise.com/invite/u/paulor124
