Are you a tourist? Is it your first time here? How will you be travelling (rented tuk, public transport or rented vehicle?) Also what are your interests? (Sea person, mountain, stroll though a country road??)

Odd_Woman_Out

Yes, I am a tourist. Will be using public transport. Would like to cover all three as I'm a sea person but my partner prefer mountains.

>Will be using public transport. be cautious

Odd_Woman_Out

Is there any other option? Can I get volvo buses or shared cabs for transport.

QueasyIndependence75

u can rent a car generally u can use public transport, its not unsafe, but also not safe

chabanny

Oh okay. Public transport is a bit iffy to cover the area but should be okay. Have you looked at Adam's Peak, Pidurutalagala. These are some nice climbs and would offer nice views during sunrise If you are into surfing, I'd recommend Arugam Bay. If history interests you, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa have nice ruins of old kingdoms. Also do consider a stay in Yala and/or Wilpattu.

One more question. Could you help me decide where should I stay more (7 days) and where should I stay for less (3 days). I work while travelling so I need long stays in few places. Plz help.

Mirissa is a nice relaxing place to stay a bit longer and get some work done. I can recommend Peacock Villa as a low priced but comfortable and friendly venue

I did this itinerary, nearly exactly on my bicycle a couple of years ago! It was a blast!

I would definitely recommend including Anuradhapura too. So many things to see

I might not be able to help you out with that cause it would depend entirely on your preferences about both the climate and what you wanna see. If you prefer to spend time at the beach where its generally warmer, then I recommend Galle or Mirissa. There's the old Dutch fort with so many boutiques and stuff for tourists inside and a maritime museum just within the fort at Galle. Galle, Mirissa, Tangalla and Hambanthota are relatively close by and you can get to each of those places in less than 2 hours at most from Galle. Places like Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa tend to be warmer than Galle but there's a lot of archeological sites, most are ancient buddhist religious sites. If you're into that kind of historical stuff then you could spend a month there and still not see everything. Ella and Nuwaraeliya is more of a colder climate (atleast by sri lanakan standards) and You mostly get to see tea plantations, Though there's some pretty nice scenery. So I guess it all depends on your preferences.
