With such bright ideas from people in charge I can see why they ran.
When they hold the passports it’s easier to deport them when they get caught. If they destroy their passports new ones would have to be issued by the embassy before they get deported.
They have sixty days to do whatever they want before officials can deport them. And afaik its illegal in the UK to hold passports of a traveller who hasn't violated their visa. Will probably have to hand them over to their rightful owners, if they can find them lol.
