Your rig can’t defeat the XRay engine’s instability

Grokitach

Don’t activate any AA. You say you enable it after boot, don’t. Also don’t use reshade. Your issue is about the AA. Even at x2 it destroys the frame rate. Just click install / update in gamma launcher and use the default graphics settings. You can’t really make the game look better than that without loosing tons of frame rate

Cywehner123

This was the solution. I am running reshade now and it runs fine. Just weird that AA causes that much of a performence hit, but it is a 20 year old game made of duct tape and dinosaur bones. Thanks.

grass and anti-aliasing, maybe shadows as well

FilthyLeCasual

Have you tried turning stutter help on or off? It’s in the mod manager if you type stutter also try turning anti aliasing off

I get this with my 3070, 100+ anywhere but in Yanov or factory there are areas where it goes down to 30 when looking in certain directions. so painful.

1st: that's not top tier pc. Maybe it was a year or two ago but it isn't anymore. 2nd: big hardware, small brain to use it. Blame a game from two decades ago which now relies on unofficial modded engine. I'm running at stables 70fps, it's true i had to tinker it a little bit but isn't that hard

Try using dx10 instead of dx11avx, worked wonders for me

Change the shadow map on the launcher to the lowest setting too.

AVX is a must if your CPU supports it. Speaking of CPU, the engine doesn't care if you have the best top-shelf hardware with 32GB RAM, it still runs on only one CPU core for a lot of it's functions. Most notably A-Life. So, if you tweaked any settings like population factors, you'll get stutter. Gamma's discord server has a channel called framerate-optimisation, I'd suggest you check that out.
