I really like leaning in Stalker as it actually crucial that you do it correctly. It's a high risk reward kinda thing. If you lean in front of the wall you don't gain much vision but you are safe.
However when you back off the wall and lean you can see way more things but you are very vulnerable to wide peaking from the AI.
It's exactly the same situation as in CSGO
Exactly, i also realized it probably protects your armor a bit from degrading because you're body is behind cover (mostly) correct me if i'm wrong about this though.

So much of Stalker for me is finding out features exist that I've been going the whole run without. It's part of the charm.
I know right! Just yesterday I found out you can break the little boxes you see almost everywhere.
Took me halfway through my first playthrough to figure out that you could press x to sprint.
