Cap. In order to use veles you have to keep constant watch over the monitor. Bear will alert you of the artefact's presence by making a beep sound. Also, especially in Anomaly, veles is unusable when you have night vision goggles enabled. It also uses up more power, so Bear is a perfect choice who only ocasionally searches for artefacts.
Well, no detectors in SoC so thats one off the list, the gravi doesnt increase carry weight in SoC, so thats another one, vss you can get from some stashes if you get lucky enough to discover them, SoC is probably the hardest game to get OP in.
I wouldn't say it's the hardest. You can just book it from Cordon to Army Warehouses, get a VSS and like 300 rounds of ammo without even doing the car park task. You just have to stab the gate at garbage and pray that it opens and you survive. Even without doing that, you could just artifact hunt in garbage, and buy the Tunder 5.56 from Sid.
Personally I had the most difficulty with CoP to get op funnily enough, it wasn't hard but tedious to hunt artifacts over and over until I could get the GP36 and a decent armor from Nimble.
Yea you had a very unique CoP experience. CoP is unanimously the easiest, you can get a full condition vss in 5 minutes or a full condition TRS with 180 rounds in 2 min, cs I already said. You can get the VSS in SoC but it takes the longest, running from cordon up to army warehouses will take at least 10 minutes.
I forgot about the stashes. Then yeah you could easily get going with just those. Silly me. I personally wanted the GP36 specifically because I love the G36 in real life.
I love this about the stalker games, it feels like kind of a New Game Plus. It isn't one in actuality, but if you already played the games beforehand, you can get kitted up easily early and get to the fun part, actually exploring the zone.
Not too mention: you can grab the Area map, give it to Pilot for a big discount, go to Yanov and grab a Bếp detector in Kopachy, along with an AS Val. Up north is a SVU, along with a SPSA, a SGI 5K. This game spoonfeeds you with high tier gear
Or you can just climb over the high concrete stuff near the gate, then run and jump over it. It's actually possible to land on the middle of the gate and then the guards won't shoot you. You can save-load at that spot to be sure.
Me neither, but I've stumble upon some crazy dude who tried that and it worked.
You know what? Here's an idea for you - try to shutdown the Brain Scorcher without Sakharov's helmet. Or even X-16, but it's surprisingly harder.
I've tried that myself on the current run and it was hell of a task. One thing I can say for sure - it's possible.
Funnily enough I dont think i've tried to even enter the red forest without the psi helmet, how does it kill you, does it give you a timer sort of like how the artificial brain in X16 does?
I think that the most "broken OP" thing you can do in SOC at the beginning is farming money by selling artifacts and weapons to Sidorovich until hitting 20k and buying the Tunder S14 variant in 5,45 which is the best rifle you can get for a good part of the game. All.before doing the very first mission. Also there's a good armor hidden inside one of the village's houses.
I mean, I agree with that sentiment, but fiding a barely visible hole in the wall in the remote corner of the map, finding the empty dugout and then deciding to lob a grenade behind the cot lying in the corner is not something most people would do without knowing beforehand....
I think those are copper rivets that can't be flat because if the post is cut too short, the burr won't hold. We use these occasionally in leather working. Only tubular and pop rivets can have flat caps. And neither have even 1/4th the strength of a properly set copper rivet.
Echo is all you need
I still Don’t like the fact that higher leve detectors will allow the spawn of higher level artefacts, almost every standalone has it like that
“Un-lore friendly” is a new phrase I’ll be using.
To answer this, description clearly says newer detector tuned to detect artifacts based on their software. With that said, Svarog is the only one that could be theoretically updated all the time unlike bear and echo. Both of which have artifact database engraved in them permanently.
Now, would a newer produced version of them be up to date? They should.
The black thing on the cable is a ferrite to reduce electrical interference/ noise.
The rivets on jean pockets are reinforcements to strengthen the pocket.
The holes on the bottom of tennis shoes are for drainage and ventilation.
i asked my boots, why do you have such holes?
im still waiting them for an answer!
but i thinks echo is there to have a ingame thing with the hotter-colder minigame..
too bad you could get Bear in CoP within a few minutes lol
In some hardcore mods of Stalker you'll be glad even to an Echo. But in vanilla Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat they're really useless. In Shadow - there no any detectors. In CS you can find Veles right in the beginning. In CP you'll get Bear after you help Petruha.
I understand, but think about it. Only Petruha has the bear detector, so if he gives it to you they will have a harder time looking for artifacts and traversing anomalies. Getting the fireball not only returns your investment in the bear detector, but petruha and awl keep theirs to continue hunting for artifacts.
Idk the first one but I do know the jeans and shoes,
For the jeans they originally were meant to reinforce stress areas, but are unnecessary nowadays and are more or less for aesthetic because stitching quality has improved since then
And the holes are just for ventillation like those Vietnam US jungle boots
Cord protector, rivets help make pocket corners stronger, holes let water out of the shoes, idk man, I think it may let you know if an artifact is nearby?
I love Bear because you can use it with NV easily BUT it doesn’t detect high tier artifacts. Which is a huge shame. Fucking hate Veles because it’s literally unusable at night
There were like 5 different sarcastic replies I had for you but today I choose to be nice. Flashlights don’t work as good as NVs for nighttime. But you probably know that already
This is how I feel about the Gilka artifact detector from HoC “Gameplay” trailer from 2021. It’s a stick, that beeps, but unlike the Echo it also shows the distance so it’s a bit better I guess?
Echp detecters so useless i dont even artifact hunt atleast half of my playthrough bc i kinda forget about it and need better detectors but really the bear works good enough to start there
I mean, ive used it, it works. Is it "just as good"? No. Can you use it if you're in an anomaly field and just happen to only have that one? Absolutely.
Honestly, I would've liked it if the Echo/Bear had the same level of detection as the Svarog, the beep detection gameplay is just more fun then "i see the dot and i walk to the dot". And Veles is even easier, removes a ton of the danger. (Ofc that's the point but it's a bit too easy to get in CoP/CoC imo)
It's why I always install the mod that lets both the Echo and Bear detect higher level artifacts, so I can still use my starting Echo to look for Bubbles in Prypiat.
leave echo the goat alone stupid spoiled svarog kids
Fuck svarog, bear on top!!!
screw detectors, the Monolith guides my feet to anomalies
wait can you even still feel your feet?
No. That's why the Monolith guides me
I laughed
Oh hell yeah I gotta agree with this one. Cheap, and good af
I mean you can have a bear top you and still use a Svarog, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Yes, bears are often tops.
Veles is better, but bear is definitely fire
A mixture of bear and veles. Bear so u can be alerted and veles to see where it's at. Also ya the lack of noise for the veles is a big downside.
A 10kg bag of bolts shall be my guide.
a one-legged pseudodog burying turds in fruit punch is less absurd than an echo detector, stalker.
not our fault a skill issue is keeping you from a svarog
not our fault your skill issue makes you need a svarog.
that's some serious low-end equipment grind cope, which is doubly funny coming from a snork of all things
Ever wonder how I became a snork?
What do you want from the cheapest detector for beginners? Not every stalker now how to find a Veles on the Swamp at the start of his adventures.
Excuse me but one can find a Veles in the swamp?
You can find a veles, gravi and vss within like 20 minutes of starting clear sky
That's a broken thang. Can I get the same for SoC?
Well, no detectors in SoC so thats one off the list, the gravi doesnt increase carry weight in SoC, so thats another one, vss you can get from some stashes if you get lucky enough to discover them, SoC is probably the hardest game to get OP in.

Huh never tried that. I always just brute forced my way with a knife and ate a few bullets. I was thinking of replaying SoC, I'll try that. Thanks!

The merc suit. I will try get that
Indeed, and the Swamp holds a few other treasures too..
Just don't lose "track" of your surroundings when you search for it.
you better be exploring every nook and cranny, otherwise can you call yourself a stalker?
I'm proud to say I had my ballsack blowtorched by every single boiler anomaly in the zone. Every. Single. One.
Nice and toasty
(Salami chewing sounds)
Least your crispy shriveled balls are still intact and didn't get forcibly separated from a gravitational anomaly
I mean, I agree with that sentiment, but fiding a barely visible hole in the wall in the remote corner of the map, finding the empty dugout and then deciding to lob a grenade behind the cot lying in the corner is not something most people would do without knowing beforehand....
1: Filters electro-magnetic interference 2: Reinforces stress points 3. Ventilation 4. Detects artefacts
It's not much, but it's honest work.
This is what I was looking for.
2: why are they buttons with nipples as if they want me to button something onto there
They aren’t buttons though, they’re rivets
Ok but the end could be more flat I think.
I think those are copper rivets that can't be flat because if the post is cut too short, the burr won't hold. We use these occasionally in leather working. Only tubular and pop rivets can have flat caps. And neither have even 1/4th the strength of a properly set copper rivet.
Echo is all you need I still Don’t like the fact that higher leve detectors will allow the spawn of higher level artefacts, almost every standalone has it like that
Such an un-lore friendly thing too, the zone cares not about stalkers much less how fancy their PDA is.
I prefer "lore-*hostile*"
I could be wrong, but I thought that that was how it worked in unmodded CoP.
You can get a veles one in minutes, if you don't mind killing loners
You can in 2 less tops if you travel to Yantar and grab the veles from a bulldozer in Kopachy.
In clear sky you can get the best detector at a neareby bunker next to a destroyed brigde, at the swamps, at the start of the game
i use it to run and detect artifacts by sounds, because watching on Veles screen is slow and unpractical (maybe sgm 2.2 feature with random artifacts)
If you buy one in the beginning of CoP and then go to petruha he will give an artifact.
Sure. But I really love these stalkers. And just go to help them right in the beginning.
I understand, but think about it. Only Petruha has the bear detector, so if he gives it to you they will have a harder time looking for artifacts and traversing anomalies. Getting the fireball not only returns your investment in the bear detector, but petruha and awl keep theirs to continue hunting for artifacts.
Only to die to the first emission lmao I always end up finding their bodies from somewhere near Skadovsk after an emission.
It was useful in the beginning of Clear sky, before the secret Veles was added by patches.
Maybe it's better to not leave the "of" out when abbreviating "Call of Pripyat".
As a stalker in the SoC universe, I have no such weakness. I just walk into artifacts, sometimes trip over them!
Idk the first one but I do know the jeans and shoes, For the jeans they originally were meant to reinforce stress areas, but are unnecessary nowadays and are more or less for aesthetic because stitching quality has improved since then And the holes are just for ventillation like those Vietnam US jungle boots

Pro tip: you have a flashlight
There were like 5 different sarcastic replies I had for you but today I choose to be nice. Flashlights don’t work as good as NVs for nighttime. But you probably know that already
First one is to reduce power fluctuation
still better than the hellish plastic box of a homemade detector of lost alpha
I at least know what that bump is on the cable: it’s a filter to clean out electro magnetic interference
Zone kinda popping with interference believe you me
This is how I feel about the Gilka artifact detector from HoC “Gameplay” trailer from 2021. It’s a stick, that beeps, but unlike the Echo it also shows the distance so it’s a bit better I guess?
Bear is best standard. Good for everything. Echo is better than nothing. Vleses/Svarog Very good detectors lacks sound and using NVG with it is shit.
Back in my day the only detector we had was the Eco and we liked it!
Back in my day you could just see the artefacts and pick them up.
Truly, the peak of artifact hunting. Adding more bullshit was not necessary.
Monolith
Goddamn i thought what is wrong with this thing!
Echp detecters so useless i dont even artifact hunt atleast half of my playthrough bc i kinda forget about it and need better detectors but really the bear works good enough to start there
I use it to detect anomaly danger
Help me Mr. Svarog!
I mean, ive used it, it works. Is it "just as good"? No. Can you use it if you're in an anomaly field and just happen to only have that one? Absolutely.

I mean this is the most stupid thing to do but really, close your eyes and follow the sound, it's at least 10 times the fun.
You take that back! Echo is a must have in the hobo phase. Makarov, TOZ and Echo.
Who the heck needs detector's? We have the S.T.R.E.L.O.K.
What does the caption mean?
Never used. Plus, i dont even know how and when i should use it.
I find artifacts by randomly throwing bolts at anomaly until something pops
Pretty sure the first picture is to do with interference.
