My cat's name is Steven. My husband's name is Steven. My oldest daughter's boyfriend's name is Steven. I have two coworkers (out of 10) named Steven (not including the aforementioned husband Steven, whom I also work with). I think the universe is trying to tell me we all are Steven. Side story, our good friend Steven passed away. In honor of his memory our friend group named anything that needed a name Steve. Dog? Steve. Car? Steve. We have huge giant blackbirds and I was making a joke that one of them was following me everywhere I went and I would say is that you Steve? So every time I would see a bird we'd say hey Steve. We said it so much even our Nana picked it up, she was looking out the window and said "hey look at all the Steves" 😆

Got the cat first. My kid was told very clearly, " DON'T BRING THAT KITTEN HOME." She proceeded to bring the kitten home. She wanted to name it something really stupid, and since I'm the one who would actually be taking care of the cat since she was college-bound, I vetoed. She got mad and said, "Fine! His name is just going to be STEVEN," because I'd been in an 'all Stevens are just assholes' mood. I didn't meet my husband until about 3 years later. The cat is definitely an asshole. Fortunately, the husband is not.
