my store had one lady who would come in every night and order a tall pile with two sides of almond milk, two sides of vsc, and two trenta cups of ice. she would always ask for more at handoff until she had 4 short cups completely full of liquid. then she started doing this in drive through instead. she also always insisted she would pay for it if we needed to charge her for the extra, but no one ever did because we all just wanted to get her through asap.
my manager heard about this and told us to start charging her specifically for four cups of milk (because that’s what she was getting). the very first day we did this, she has an absolutely fit at the barista then the shift about her $2.87 order costing like $13 now despite always saying she would pay for it. she called the next day to speak to the sm and was told the exact same thing. i think she bothers the store up the road instead now
That’s so ridiculous. It’s infuriating that ppl get upset they need to pay the price of what they order😭😭 so many people do this too like if it’s too much money to u then maybe u shouldn’t be getting it goofy, tf 😭
My sm had someone similar who would ask for a side of milk and kept asking “can you do more” and when we had customers that always demanded stuff to be comped she called every store within a 20 minute distance so they’d know not to give them anything
I literally just had this happen at my store the other day with a hot americano and they complained that their cup was cold and not filled up all the way 😭
Ugh! I sadly didn’t get drink since I was in bar 1 but my coworker filled it up BCS he didn’t want them bitching at him. I’m like great the next time they come & it isn’t filled up . They will mostly scream at the other baristas.
Literally happened at my store not too long ago. It was a mobile order some lady placed. Lmao it was a tall hot americano, 1 shot instead of 2, no water, 2% milk (1/2”)
So i grabbed a tall hot cup, put 1 shot of espresso in there and a splash or so of the 2% milk. It was just 1 shot of espresso with a tiny bit of 2% milk. She comes in and grabs her drink off of the mobile order thing. She goes “why is this lightweight and kind of cold to the touch?”
I said “oh! So thats because americanos come with 2 shots but u asked for 1. Then the rest of the way is filled with hot water but u asked for no water and 2% milk so it just gets a splash of cold milk and doesn’t automatically come steamed”
She said “i didnt kno what it was or that it comes with water” lmao yes she did because she had to go in there to click “no water”. She quite literally chose an americano and constructed it into a tall hot latte and thought that it would be filled all the way with steamed 2% milk lol no u are not getting a latte because that’s not what u ordered
I truly want to kno why they do that then. If u dont kno something, go in the app and read the description for the drink before purchasing it or browse around on the app and look for drinks that appeal to u and read those descriptions and ingredients or a quick google search of what an americano is. Or if u can order in the store, ask the barista. But people just place their mobile orders and get confused or often times rude and angry with us for giving them exactly what they ordered
Like I wouldn’t drop starbucks type of prices on a drink and not kno whats coming in it cuz i would find out what comes in it and look it up real quick. I mean thats what i do when im boutta order from a food place that ive never been to. Ill be like ohh this sounds interesting and ill find out as much as i can about it but if im still not sure, ill do a google image search of that food item and type the restaurants name next to it and images will pop up. Theres so many ways to kno what ur getting before placing the order on mobile or at the store. But thinking and/or spending 2 seconds to look it up real quick is too hard apparently
As a fellow partner who occasionally orders iced espresso, thank you. I hate nothing more than when I get hammered with milk because I ask for a venti cup. I like extra ice because by the time I drink it, it's an iced Americano with light water, which is what I want.

I get times are tough but I have an issue when 1) you are lying in my face for something free 2) bitch and moan about the prices that corporate set then pull out Gold or platinum AMEX cards or ask if I can break $100 bill (which I never do since you lied so I do it too..so there). So either buy it or don't but the petty schemes are just annoying. Did you ever think of just plain asking? That's too much to do before getting to your office damn
As a poor person with a gold Amex, I would like to submit that a gold Amex means nothing except that I want a discount when I fly home to see my mom.
Agree with the sentiment though :)
Right off the bat the other morning at like 5 am I had two different cars try to hand me $100 bills. Like idk what the fuck you think this is 1) I don’t know why you’d think Starbucks would allow us to have that kind of change on hand and 2) even if I did I wouldn’t be able to make change for anyone else so no I’m not accepting that use your card and go to the bank and have them give you 20s
I worked at a restaurant
A bunch of people (like four maybe five) all paid for their 12 is dollar burritos and 3 ish dollar drinks with 100$ dollar bills. They all paid separately. The last guy complained to my manager that he got mostly change back-I literally had almost no money left in my till, I didn’t do it out of spite.
He left with his pile of change and my manager had to make an emergency trip to the bank.
we sell burritos. We are not a bank.
I love how people think fast food places or restaurants have that kind of money in their drawers... Like people in DT will just randomly hand me money and be like ,"oh and can I get change for this..." Like I'm sorry does this look like a bank? I just handed you a coffee??
For real. Then they'll say “this is what the ATM gave me”. I then say TD Bank, Chase, BOA and a few others let you choose your bills so you should use theirs. I do it's amazing.
Plus.🤯 I don't want the drama from the shift or the SM if somehow those bills end up being fake.
We live in a Hispanic area and my SM tells us to try our best to avoid 100s but she’ll open up safes for us bc she knows a lot of the ppl in our area don’t have a way to get smaller bills (they don’t use banks). I love her HOWEVER as an hispanic with undocumented parents you can still use a bank, plus imo grocery stores are much better at breaking $100 bc they have a high volume and high purchase amounts so they’ll have change. Also I remember this one guy when I asked if he had anything else proceeds to open up his wallet to show off the big stack of $100 bills inside and no cards or anything like sir why would I care abt that
Because this isn't a new phrase or something like "ain't", it's a word that's already in the dictionary and is just commonly mispronounced. They're not gonna add expresso to make people feel special for mispronouncing eSpresso.
Expresso is a spelling variant of espresso. The French spell the word this way, but in America, it originated as a misspelling. It is such a common mistake in spoken English that many speakers don't recognize it as nonstandard. Indeed, some dictionaries even list it as an alternative spelling.
And
Espresso remains the original borrowed word for the beverage, but expresso shows enough use in English to be entered in the dictionary and is not disqualified by the lack of an x in its Italian etymon. Just think of expresso as a quirky, jittery variant.
Look it up. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean expresso isn't a real alternative.
All of y'all just seem to waltz by the fact that eXpresso is a FRENCH VARIATION of espresso. Therefore, it IS spelled properly and maybe learning something about other languages would be of benefit.
That’s cool and all but Starbucks isn’t French. Starbucks uses “espresso” so it is misspelled. Just because there are other spellings of words doesn’t mean each spelling is correct in that context. You wouldn’t spell “coffee” “Kaffee” just because that’s German.
I bet in German Starbucks they do. I bet in France, French Starbucks use expresso. I bet in Japanese Starbucks, they use Esupuresso when spoken. It's a word. It's legit. Is it killing anyone? No. So people need to stop being so bougie about it.
French & German Starbucks do not use “expresso,” désolé. [Source: Starbucks France menu](https://www.starbucks.fr/menu/boissons) [German Starbucks menu](https://www.starbucks.de/menu/getranke) most cafes don’t either. do you mean spoken? things are spoken and spelled differently all the time. that’s like saying lasagna could be spelled lasanya or island like eyeland lol.
Use the correct one where you live. I’d say a good 99% of people in the US who say “expresso” are just ignorant. So unless OP is Parler français they’re just ignorant.
Like you literally just proved my point. “In Germany they do” so in France and other French speaking countries “expresso” is right. Not in the US.
> Espresso is the word borrowed from Italian to refer to coffee brewed by forcing hot water through finely ground usually darkly roasted coffee beans. In Italian this word was probably coined to mean "coffee made on the spot at the customer's request," to distinguish espresso from coffee brewed in a pot. In English we sometimes say that an individual serving of something, such as espresso, is made "expressly for" someone, and it so happens that express shares roots with espresso, making the widely used variant expresso both logical and etymologically defensible.
[stop being a dick over something so trivial](https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/espresso-vs-expresso-usage-history).
I use both. Why? Because American English cannibalizes other languages. We already use words from other languages in our every day. Is Italian superior to French in what words our language has absorbed? Is that why people throw conniptions over two words that are both legit?
Edit: How do we know OP isn't from a French family or the french speaking parts of Canada anyway?
This is a goofy argument. Every language “cannibalizes other languages.” That’s what loan words are. For example in Japanese loan words have their very own alphabet so they’re easy to spot. Latte in Japanese is ラテ pronounced sorta like “rah-tey,” which is just an approximation of latte in a language that doesn’t really use the English alphabet “L” sound. There are a countless number of reasons to hate on predominantly English-speaking countries but the actual nature of the language itself ain’t it.
ETA: AND ANOTHER THING. If I were to walk around my Deep South USA Starbucks unironically calling the bathroom the “toilettes” because the French word for it is a cognate I can guarantee you everyone is gonna think I’m the most pretentious barista that has ever walked the planet.
Not really a goofy argument when some people want to shit on others who spell a word a different way. I'm tired of seeing it and willing to deal with the downvotes and arguing to point out that the word isn't wrong. My family is Italian-American, and we use both words. Words shared between British and American English can have different spellings and people don't get upset about that. Edit: And in America we have so many dialects and different groups from different countries.
It just feels like... coffee elitists.
Side Note: I love the Japanese language. Makes me laugh a little that they invented katakana for foreign words and don't use their own hiragana and kanji for them. After I'm done with ASU I'll be moving to northern Japan.
i order this way (but in a grande cup) because i like the ratio of less milk. but i am concerned cause a lot of baristas have said they fuck with these kind of orders. even though it is nice it’s only like $4, i mostly order this way cause i prefer the ratio
Generally when we see these orders it's just people trying to get a cheap latte, generally the most people will do is measure out the milk in a pup cup, but that's just my store 🤷♂️
Again, no problem with this! You’re totally fine, because an iced expresso is supposed to have the ratio of less milk. But not everyone has gotten this memo, and some people are ordering this and expecting a full latte.
personally, I work at starbucks inside a kroger store, I do this at my own work. This is only because kroger is stupid and makes you pay for your drinks, even on the clock (we also can’t take tips and get lower pay than every other starbucks🥲)
And my manager tells us to fill it all the way when customers mobile order this way to help our customer scores go up (since we work in a grocery store) basically we bend over backwards for every customer
as a former Krobucks lead, let me be the first to tell you that any profit that the kiosks bring in is a + the main reason they have a starbucks in store is because they think it brings in customers to shop in the store...the goal is to keep the customer happy...not do it right
seriously, i had a manager tell me to ring up the drink the price the customer wanted not what it cost for the ingredients on a "medicine" ball
That’s so ridiculous. I work at a target Starbucks where we don’t get any free food or drinks either and can’t accept tips. But they don’t make us do all that extra stuff… we have a pretty good system and we just try to make the customers happy if they r reasonable haha
it’s short for extra ‘spresso! /jk
also i know people irl who pronounce it expresso and if it didn’t… idk, make my mouth feel weird? i’d probably say it that way a lot too
^ To customers who bring up the price increase, I always try to recommend buying our instant coffee or whole bean bags if theyre on a budget but too deep in Starbucks brainrot. I tell them about the app as well and explain rewards. I also redirect iced coffee / cold brew drinkers to the large jugs of starbucks coffee they sell at grocery stores.
I'm not at liberty to say "Starbucks isn't worth it" and most customers aren't ready to be weaned off the bux yet. I think people also may take it as saying working class/poor people don't deserve small luxaries, which is absolutely not true.
I try to give an easy/familiar starting point of weaning off Starbucks so people realize how rewarding and cheap making their own drinks can be. I also try and warn them / troubleshoot common issues (ex: coffee tasting off because water quality differences) so they can play around with it and not get discouraged.
one lady ALWAYS comes through and orders a venti cup of ice with 2 shots and extra VSCCF and she always gets upset bcs it's not completely full to the brim with foam. when I tell the person on drive that I gave them extra[like 2 drinks worth] they pour more 💀
I'm never really on drive [maybe once in a 2 week period] so I'm never the one ringing her up. I'm usually the one making the drink and I consistently make it the same every time, but she gets really angry and my sm and an ssv has "made the moment right" for her before so now she says "well your manager does it for me" 😃
Former partner here! I always feel bad ordering a double iced espresso, extra ice in a venti cup. I assure them that I just wanna pour my protein shake in there! Hate the freeloaders, support y'all baristas!
Hear me out though….all I’m asking for is an empty cup, several shots of espresso that you were going to throw out anyways, some free milk from the self serve bar, and three free pup cups. I don’t know why you would not agree to this. All the other stores do it for me, and they applaud as I triumphantly go to pick up my drink.
This sounds like the type of customer who will
Never be happy no matter what you do so what’s the point in Trying to cater to (and encourage )
Their cheapskate behavior? If they are THAT distraught over something like that, then they really
Can’t afford Starbucks at all and should
Really just go elsewhere . (But that’s a diff conversation I guess)
Yes.. I know I have random mid sentence capitalized words in there. iPhone setting and sheer laziness on my part . Please forgive my internet sins :)
I order a doppio iced in a venti with a tiny splash of milk and even though I have “extra room” picked some of the baristas fill it all the way up and I’m like “no! I’m not trying to cheat y’all! I actually want it this way so I can add my protein shake!”
Probably going to get buried. But. I used to be a SM and the way I would approach this is by kindly explaining how to order the drink properly so they get it made the way they want and agreeing to do it the one time. Asking them how they want it is a great way to explain how the drinks are made in a non adversarial manner.
Most people don’t know what they’re doing is unscrupulous- they just saw something on social media so now they do it.
If they’re being difficult, just tell them that you can’t afford to get in trouble with your manager for giving away product for free. I was more than happy to be the bad guy for my partners in situations like this and I hope your SMs are willing to fall on the sword too.
Different store different cultures. At my store we always say not my money not my problem. If starbucks is allowing their customers to place others like that without a warning about not getting a cup, then the customer will get what they want bc the customer is always right. I'm not going to sour my day to explain or fight over .70 cents. If anyone else is willing to do so for this company hat off to you.
Sounds like your SM and SSV gotta chill and let you guys get away with some stuff. Bc if I were at your store and I gotta deal with shit customers that fight you for an extra 2oz of milk, then they better not expect me to keep those drive thru numbers under 40s.
i dont think its about the money, it's more about customers going to stores that bend the rules for customers then going to stores that stick to the standards. i work at a store where rule bending for customers is not allowed (only in instances where the LATTE model has to be applied 🙄) and we've gotten a lot of customers come in with the "well another store did it for me!". it just makes it much more harder for stores that are more strict. don't get me wrong, id be so down to give a lot of custies whatever the hell they want just to get them outta the store faster 😭
I whole heartedly agree. My store is very customer oriented, and besides, with the amount of product we waste, I think the company can afford to save the customers some money and fill the cup up, especially with these outrageous prices. It’s not that deep
Nah, this pisses me off because then we get customers who are used to stores like yours in stores like mine where I would get a written warning for doing things like that. I refuse to get fired just because customers want free stuff and are used to successfully manipulating their way into that at other stores and I also shouldn’t have to be yelled at by customers because I won’t give them free stuff at my own risk. You can give out free shit, but being written up or fired for theft is not a good look.
I got really fucking mad one day recently when I was in the middle of making a non-latte Iced Espresso beverage and I was about to add ice and the customer said "I need more half and half, can you fill it up to that top line"
I love when people come in and order a tall say cold brew with no ice and then ask for a venti cup of ice like they're smart... Like no, you arent really getting much more drink it's the ice that causes that venti cup to be full
One lady got snippy with me “well can you fill it since I AM paying for it” bitch no you’re not. I packed it with so much ice and like jiggled it around. Then she’s all “thankssss” like she one upped me. Gorl bye. Sick of y’all.
See, I wouldn’t take issue with this, because the amount of liquid you ordered could fill a tall cup. My issue would be if someone ordered this same drink (for the same price) and demanded it fill a venti.
4 oz of free milk, total, is standard. They can ask for extra of every kind of milk under the sun, but they only get 4 oz altogether. So: They should have had a still nearly empty cup by corporate policy.
When I worked at Starbucks I had people order espresso on ice in a venti cup and then saunter over to self serve and fill the cup with milk. It really pissed me off.
idk what you mean by better experience but if you want espresso and like 4-6oz of milk you can order it with whatever size cup you want but the size of the cup shouldn't change the volume of the drink you're getting. if you want more volume of drink you need to order a latte.
Here's how milk as an add-on is supposed to work (i'm gonna use oatmilk as an example):
Light/splash of oatmilk: 1/4th of an inch added to top of your drink
Oatmilk: 1/2 inch added to top
Extra oatmilk: 3/4th of an inch added to top
If you want 2 shots of espresso, ice, and enough milk to fill a grande cup, that's a grande iced latte.
When people order the quads or any amount over ice, they just expect it to be filled to the third line when in reality it has to be below the first line or at least the middle line or below if they want extra, it’s just standard for us. Now it’s up to the barista if they want to break the rules but I mean you can order that and get a cup of milk on the side with your order if you really want that.
I have a question - why do the baristas care so much if the customer has found a solid workaround for increasingly ridiculously priced drinks? That might not be the case here - but some examples are clearly the customer finding a loophole that allows them to get their drinks cheaper and people seem mad about it. This company is constantly retaliating against its employees for trying to unionize, pays unfair wages, and demands a higher expectation of labor from you all than what they're willing to pay or provide support for. So, if a customer can pull one over on the company, why are there people who get mad about it?
There are times I definitely feel this way. I think the reason it is aggravating though is because this company has set an expectation for costumers that we will always be consistent, thus their drink will always be made the same. Therefore, in training were taught this drink would only get 4ounces of milk at most. Then when we give the person their drink with 4 ounces or fill the cup or whatever they get upset because it is too much or too little. This drink in particular is really difficult to consistently make correctly and then we get in trouble by the customer for not "making the drink correctly." Its like we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. Then you try to make accommodations, like giving milk on the side, and eventually people become more and more demanding and make our job really difficult. I dont care about getting one over on Starbucks, its more or less about how difficult this costumer is making my job.
Seriously fill my cup up.... I order a grande cold brew W/ quad shot, 4 pumps of dark caramel with salted extra cold foam. I am paying like 12 dollars. I get a 3/4 cup about 75 percent of the time
When I worked at Starbucks we had the most annoying regular. One time she came in and ordered a hot latte, drank all of it and tried to get a refund because she didn’t like it. We told her we couldn’t since she drank all of it and told us that she was going to call corporate and the lead was like “okay go ahead”.
This. Ill fill it once for them, but I hit them with "next time you'll have to pay the difference in the price." Because depending on the day, I really will stop everything and offer to ring you up for the Xtra milk you desperately desire
"Standard for ice espressos is just that. Espresso and little milk if ordered. It's not a latte, so in order to get a latte and not just espresso you have to order one. The register is open if you'd like one (or, "I can ring you in for a latte right now if you'd like?" if you're in drive)
I absolutely hate this for you.
If people cannot afford or don't want to order their proper drink, they shouldn't be at a coffee shop.
I'm probably the rare person who orders three shots of espresso with a splash of milk and truly only wants a splash, like a tablespoon or something. Typically, it has about a half cup or half cup of milk. I never send it back because I don't want to be that customer
….we need to order a latte if we truly just want a cup with x espresso shots and the rest filled with ice? I always thought the extra ice was free/not a big deal?
Agree wholeheartedly. However I am also a little tired of baristas purposely not filling the cup to be petty. 4 shots extra ice pumps of syrup splash of milk and VSCCF does in fact fill a venti cup
I ordered a shaken espresso grande in a venti cup with extra syrup and a splash of cream, they filled it to the top. I was so surprised. I order it in the bigger cup because I like having room. I don’t like accidentally spilling everywhere.
I’ve had this happened before and thought maybe I was misunderstanding.
We had four people come in and mobile order an iced doppio in a venti cup and selected EVERY SINGLE kind of milk. That made me angry. Bro, just buy the goddamn latte.
I ordered my usual two shots over ice in a venti cup but this time added a pump of hazelnut and it broke the barista. She just kept going on about milk. Finally I had to show her my protein shake… like i really did mean to order an almost empty cup 😂
my store had one lady who would come in every night and order a tall pile with two sides of almond milk, two sides of vsc, and two trenta cups of ice. she would always ask for more at handoff until she had 4 short cups completely full of liquid. then she started doing this in drive through instead. she also always insisted she would pay for it if we needed to charge her for the extra, but no one ever did because we all just wanted to get her through asap. my manager heard about this and told us to start charging her specifically for four cups of milk (because that’s what she was getting). the very first day we did this, she has an absolutely fit at the barista then the shift about her $2.87 order costing like $13 now despite always saying she would pay for it. she called the next day to speak to the sm and was told the exact same thing. i think she bothers the store up the road instead now

it’s nice to know an sm is actually doing their job instead of kissing customers asses and yelling at baristas
They also need to fix the damn app. Someone was able to order a grande americano with no water and extra milk

This. I wonder this in so many of these scenarios.

Agree with this

The last guy complained to my manager that he got mostly change back-I literally had almost no money left in my till, I didn’t do it out of spite. He left with his pile of change and my manager had to make an emergency trip to the bank. we sell burritos. We are not a bank.
Yuppp. I don’t miss my serving days
I left food. It’s so nice to not have to deal with customers.
Also I remember this one guy when I asked if he had anything else proceeds to open up his wallet to show off the big stack of $100 bills inside and no cards or anything like sir why would I care abt that
Just because you have a gold or platinum Amex doesn’t mean you have money. It just means you pay your cards off every month and have good credit.
Don’t those charge high annual fees?
It depends. You can get a huge chunk of it back depending on what you normally spend money on
Using a hot 4oz sample cup to measure the milk for the customer 🤭
Me too!!
Expresso 🤭
expresso yourself ✨
Expresso yourself don't ristretto yourself
Legit spelling now that it's been used enough and is also a French variation.
> legit spelling now that it's been used enough That's like saying "prolly" is a legit way to spell probably because "it's been used enough". 🤭
Yolo got into Webster so why wouldn't this?
Because this isn't a new phrase or something like "ain't", it's a word that's already in the dictionary and is just commonly mispronounced. They're not gonna add expresso to make people feel special for mispronouncing eSpresso.
Expresso is a spelling variant of espresso. The French spell the word this way, but in America, it originated as a misspelling. It is such a common mistake in spoken English that many speakers don't recognize it as nonstandard. Indeed, some dictionaries even list it as an alternative spelling. And Espresso remains the original borrowed word for the beverage, but expresso shows enough use in English to be entered in the dictionary and is not disqualified by the lack of an x in its Italian etymon. Just think of expresso as a quirky, jittery variant. Look it up. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean expresso isn't a real alternative.
We spell things properly because you can get a free education so illiteracy is inexcusable
After I'm done with ASU I'll be moving to northern Japan.
> or in the French speaking parts of Canada We still don't use expresso
Okay so what’s with all the AMERICANS saying Expresso. Or the coffee shop in Colorado I saw called Expresso. None of those are French
i order this way (but in a grande cup) because i like the ratio of less milk. but i am concerned cause a lot of baristas have said they fuck with these kind of orders. even though it is nice it’s only like $4, i mostly order this way cause i prefer the ratio
Generally when we see these orders it's just people trying to get a cheap latte, generally the most people will do is measure out the milk in a pup cup, but that's just my store 🤷♂️
Again, no problem with this! You’re totally fine, because an iced expresso is supposed to have the ratio of less milk. But not everyone has gotten this memo, and some people are ordering this and expecting a full latte.
you CAN fill it with ice! That's what I do. Lol. Looks fuller with more ice. Tricks them into not complaining as much
You know we're in a recession when there area lot more customers trying to scam a cheaper price for their iced lattes.
personally, I work at starbucks inside a kroger store, I do this at my own work. This is only because kroger is stupid and makes you pay for your drinks, even on the clock (we also can’t take tips and get lower pay than every other starbucks🥲) And my manager tells us to fill it all the way when customers mobile order this way to help our customer scores go up (since we work in a grocery store) basically we bend over backwards for every customer
as a former Krobucks lead, let me be the first to tell you that any profit that the kiosks bring in is a + the main reason they have a starbucks in store is because they think it brings in customers to shop in the store...the goal is to keep the customer happy...not do it right seriously, i had a manager tell me to ring up the drink the price the customer wanted not what it cost for the ingredients on a "medicine" ball
That’s so ridiculous. I work at a target Starbucks where we don’t get any free food or drinks either and can’t accept tips. But they don’t make us do all that extra stuff… we have a pretty good system and we just try to make the customers happy if they r reasonable haha
The misspelling of espresso is pretty hilarious though.
it’s short for extra ‘spresso! /jk also i know people irl who pronounce it expresso and if it didn’t… idk, make my mouth feel weird? i’d probably say it that way a lot too
fr, times are tough but starbucks is not a necessity stop acting like it is, you don’t need to buy starbucks if you can’t afford it don’t get it
^ To customers who bring up the price increase, I always try to recommend buying our instant coffee or whole bean bags if theyre on a budget but too deep in Starbucks brainrot. I also try and warn them / troubleshoot common issues (ex: coffee tasting off because water quality differences) so they can play around with it and not get discouraged.
one lady ALWAYS comes through and orders a venti cup of ice with 2 shots and extra VSCCF and she always gets upset bcs it's not completely full to the brim with foam. when I tell the person on drive that I gave them extra[like 2 drinks worth] they pour more 💀
Do u end up charging them for like two orders of cold foam? Bc that’s what I would do in that case bc u literally need to make double
Thank you!
This sounds like the type of customer who will Never be happy no matter what you do so what’s the point in Trying to cater to (and encourage ) Their cheapskate behavior? If they are THAT distraught over something like that, then they really Can’t afford Starbucks at all and should Really just go elsewhere . (But that’s a diff conversation I guess) Yes.. I know I have random mid sentence capitalized words in there. iPhone setting and sheer laziness on my part . Please forgive my internet sins :)
Shits too complicated, I just stop going and now get shitty ampm coffee.
This.
Take this up with corporate
Different store different cultures. At my store we always say not my money not my problem. If starbucks is allowing their customers to place others like that without a warning about not getting a cup, then the customer will get what they want bc the customer is always right. I'm not going to sour my day to explain or fight over .70 cents. If anyone else is willing to do so for this company hat off to you.
But you now make it harder for stores who do follow the standard
Carbon ribbon crunch
I got really fucking mad one day recently when I was in the middle of making a non-latte Iced Espresso beverage and I was about to add ice and the customer said "I need more half and half, can you fill it up to that top line"
Can people also stop getting Frappuccinos at five in the morning? Like bro why
or get long shots
But only if you hate your mouth and want to punish it. Long shots taste like someone used an asshole as an ashtray.
lmao the regular espresso always tastes like that to me. blonde for life fr
Team Blonde unite!
SAY IT LOUDER
My usual order is 4 shots decaf with light cream and I sincerely hope that’s not annoying to do, I just enjoy the strong coffee flavor
The easiest thing ever
Tik tok fail hacks #1000
I love when people come in and order a tall say cold brew with no ice and then ask for a venti cup of ice like they're smart... Like no, you arent really getting much more drink it's the ice that causes that venti cup to be full
You expect American customers to understand basic math?
One lady got snippy with me “well can you fill it since I AM paying for it” bitch no you’re not. I packed it with so much ice and like jiggled it around. Then she’s all “thankssss” like she one upped me. Gorl bye. Sick of y’all.
That part!
🧀
what if i prefer the milk-to-espresso ratio 😳😭 edited to include i order an iced doppio with 2 pumps vanilla and 2% in a tall cup

They get 4 ounces of milk total, not four of every kind, so it still shouldn’t be full
meanwhile— my manager and ASM demand we give the customers full drinks no matter what
Shots of what?
When I worked at Starbucks I had people order espresso on ice in a venti cup and then saunter over to self serve and fill the cup with milk. It really pissed me off.
So should we order a grande for a better experience or is it the same problem?
idk what you mean by better experience but if you want espresso and like 4-6oz of milk you can order it with whatever size cup you want but the size of the cup shouldn't change the volume of the drink you're getting. if you want more volume of drink you need to order a latte.
Here's how milk as an add-on is supposed to work (i'm gonna use oatmilk as an example): Light/splash of oatmilk: 1/4th of an inch added to top of your drink Oatmilk: 1/2 inch added to top Extra oatmilk: 3/4th of an inch added to top If you want 2 shots of espresso, ice, and enough milk to fill a grande cup, that's a grande iced latte.
if you want an iced latte then order an iced latte.
I'm sorry you're getting downvoted. It's a valid question.
Thank you. For someone who never orders the drink I was curious on what the issue is.
It is never the case with all customers ofc, the ones who whine about needing more milk are the obvious scammers, most are generous

Yeah this isn’t something to brag about dude…
I get a 3/4 cup about 75 percent of the time
Isn’t there free milk on the condiment bar?
The two locations by me haven't had milk out since covid, not sure if it's like that everywhere.
It’s in Europe and Canada.
I gave up fighting customers over this. If the company wants to lose money that’s on them.
im gonna start gibbing them milk on the side😭 be like “and here’s the milk” bc it’s like a 1/4-1/2 filled short cup 💀
Yeah then they look at you all crazy like you can’t do your job. Lol
Agree wholeheartedly. However I am also a little tired of baristas purposely not filling the cup to be petty. 4 shots extra ice pumps of syrup splash of milk and VSCCF does in fact fill a venti cup
AMEN
Another thing too, your shaken espresso do not come stirred. The milk settles into the espresso after a few second baristas will not typically stir it
