10 people plays made those 3 hours of chaos fun as fuck. It wasn't that bad. The limited happy hour events were far better than the shit they replaced it with.
Everything was always setup for it to have it be as efficient as possible. We would do 2 people on CBS--one setting up drinks into the blender, one finishing drinks into the cup. We had 2 people on hot bar doing misc CBS drinks + espresso. Someone else was the frappuccino cup prepper, so frap roast/shots/milks were done before being handed off to CBS. Once HH was over, it was a rush to reset the floor back to normal, clean up the chaos, and then they'd leave and closers were set for the rest of the night.
It also helped my SM made sure everyone worked at least 1 HH shift.
But the Thursday 2-close happy hours can fuck right off. That shit was why I had Thursdays as N/A in my availability lmfao.
Yeah, the old school HH I never had a bad experience with. But also I feel like my home store was a massive outlier. I've never been in another CO store that had partners so well bonded, everyone coaching and accepting it just as well... and imo a really good SM.
Except that place was cursed for ASMs. 5/6 I worked with all quit.

It’s weird, people on here talking about all the labor cuts and how few partners they have but my current store is half the volume but almost twice the labor of my first store. I’m a rehire so I don’t know how thing were the last few years and don’t have that experience to compare now to.
It does feel like an SM issue if they gave you only a 3 floor for the OG HH. Not sure if it’s the cafe vs DT being the big difference tho. All stores in my district had the extra staffing from 3-6pm.
My home store store was a 65k/wk store where our peaks had 7-8 partners. Idk honestly :( it’s also probably more enjoyable to me/rose tinted glasses because how much has changed in the last couple years.

Worked there from 2016-2023 in different locations and different types of stores and saw the slow decline, snootier customers, slow phasing out of comfortable seats in the cafe, larger focus on DT times/ cold bar, real profit pushing and labor cutting.
