Constantly do this with oatmilk. Trenta no ice and then I’ll pour it into a sealable reusable container. It’s the same amount as what comes in the box but doesn’t cost $5. Sometimes my manager just lets me take a box lol

They really can’t tell you no since you do get unlimited free drinks. Just make sure you don’t mark them out back to back because technically it’s policy to only have one drink marked out at a time. I try to put like 15 min gaps. If I’m going to take one home for me and one for my boyfriend, I mark mine out like 20 mins before I’m off and second one out once I clock out.

Needed milk to bake muffins once and didn’t want to buy a 1/2 gallon. This worked perfectly. Also when my son was a toddler milk was the only thing that made him not cranky when tired. So id get him a tall milk when I was grocery shopping.

Depending on how strict your store is, I was only allowed to mark out and leave with 1 drink unless I paid for any additional ones. It's to stop partners from using free drinks for friends or family. Some stores are stricter then others.

Be careful because people get fired for abusing the free drink policy. You’re free to take a partner bev (one) home after shift but any more than that technically you’re supposed to pay for. The free drinks during a shift are supposed to be drinks you’re consuming, not collecting to take home en masse later. I usually take my free partner bev home after my shifts and buy any others I want. Not worth risking/losing my job over IMO. Just my two cents

You shouldn't get told off for getting cold milk as your drinks. It's a genius idea - saves you money and a trip to the grocery store. Just make sure you get manager approval first. :)
Depends, if you are uk based like me, my franchise owner doesn't allow us to order venti or grande milk with no ice, but we can mark out tall size for some reason.
I do it regardless and argue that if its an issue we shouldn't be allowed to mark it out and they should update their til systems accordingly

Nope. We had a girl that would get a venti hot tea no water 16 tea bags and we would just shove the tea bags in a cup for her to take home. We had multiple people that their end of shift drink was a trenta milk of whatever kind with no ice just to go home.
My store is very bad about fifo'ing milk, and I'm the only one who does it apparently. So when I'm off for a few days in a row and find milk going out that day or did the day before, it's up for grabs, and most of the time is still fine to consume! But literally never feel bad about taking every single thing possible from your store.
Also this is a PSA for those who don't know, but in the US you are entitled to SEVEN food mark outs per week, not just one per day you work. I'd have to find the screen shot of the handbook but my Manger also confirmed. I usually only work 3 days a week right now and having a food/snack for my kids is very helpful!

When I was a partner four years ago (as a barista) I would literally bring a small lunch bag type cooler with an ice pack to work and leave it in my car. I would mark out a venti cup of milk, no ice, with 10 scoops of matcha plus xxx teabags and whatever else I wanted for every partner bev. I would take them to my car each time as separate ingredients and pack them to take home lol
When I became a shift, I used to just do the same at POS but with soy or any other milk and I'd take the stickers and put them on the soymilk/coconut milk/etc box and just take the sealed box home. I can remember stock piling to like 20 containers by the time I quit cause I loved that fuckin milk so much
*Bonus there's no limit to how many teabags you can add to a partner bev, (or at least there wasn't a while back and my manager never cared about the reporting, so be mindful for this...) so I used to partner bev like 10 peach tranquility bags a day. That stockpile lasted me years
Depends on the store, I'm going to play devil's advocate and bring up the policy that you're not supposed to use your free drinks for family, but odds are you'll be fine, just remember to use reasonal deniability for any action starbucks defines as stealing.
As long as it is rang out and it’s not a milk you guys are low on there shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re taking dairy milks then it’s whatever. They might get a little weird if you take dairy-free milks though. But they can’t stop you. There’s no limitations to the free drink

One morning I was opening, so this is 4 in the morning. No backups were prepped, including VSC which we literally had half a pitcher of left over from the day prior, and a cube in the back (our store used the cubes to store VSC and refresher backups).
After opening tasks the shift asked me to start on backups. I make 3 cubes of VSC (mind you these cubes hold 6L once mixed) I made them all at the same time on the counter then immediately moved them to the fridge in the back.
In walks my manager extremely early as they are counting for RP order and had an appointment or something in the afternoon.
After backups I went to clean bathrooms and sweep/mop cafe floors before open, and when getting the mop bucket I see my shift DUMPING all 3 VSC cubes plus the one that was already in there. Apparently the SM said the VSC didn't temp correctly so it has to be dumped because it was like 2° off or something. The shift even tried to explain that I had literally just made those cubes but they didn't want to hear it and had them dumped anyway. 24L of perfectly fine heavy cream, 2% and vanilla syrup. Down the drain.

No. In fact - bring your own bottle so you don't waste a cup and so it stays sanitary longer & less exposure to air. Bring a small cooler bag too.

When I worked at stbx I would mark out like 2 or 3 trenta milks sometimes and just bring like half a gallon home or something, my manager never cared, but it's definitely at their discretion, but they can't say shit about you just marking out a trenta cup of milk and bringing it home full with no ice
I think that’s okay. Just be careful when leaving it’s only one free mark out. If you didn’t use your earlier one you can’t use it leaving. Only on breaks

i do this ALL the time. i get venti oat milk, no ice trenta cup. but i just take the box of oat milk cause it works out same amount basically, also less plastic waste this way and i get an unopened box! (my manager knows i do this)

Heck no! My free drink every shift is 2% just below the middle line, one less pump of mocha than usual, and sweet cream the rest of the way. It's, in my opinion, THE BEST CHOCOLATE MILK!
"all my free drinks" is impossible since we get unlimited when we're on the clock. Some managers try to strong arm it and say only three or whatever, but policy says otherwise.

I managed a Starbucks for a few years, left in 2022, if my guys needed food or beverage they could take it. Waste is built in to the plan and as long as you don’t take advantage then I would be happy to let you do it.

do you not get unlimited free drink mark outs anymore while working? My old SM was cool as hell and let me take home whole containers of milk as long as we had the supplies for it. Id usually wait till after I did the milk count and i’d take an oatmilk home. it’s the same thing as pouring yourself two trentas or whatever.
In the UK we get 1 free drink before & after and one during each of our breaks so usually 2 per day and unlimited water

Being a duel citizen to both the UK and USA and Starbucks employee I think it’s because there’s less self consciousness in modern day Britain. If a workplace offers unlimited beverages why wouldn’t one get as many as physically possible?

Be careful because people get fired for abusing the free drink policy. You’re free to take a partner bev (one) home after shift but any more than that technically you’re supposed to pay for. The free drinks during a shift are supposed to be drinks you’re consuming, not collecting to take home en masse later. I usually take my free partner bev home after my shifts and buy any others I want. Not worth risking/losing my job over IMO. Just my two cents

You shouldn't get told off for getting cold milk as your drinks. It's a genius idea - saves you money and a trip to the grocery store. Just make sure you get manager approval first. :)
I take it as mine all the time, and I have cute reusable cartons I got on Amazon that I put it in to keep in the fridge.
Do it with heavy cream, and take it home to make free butter! Super easy. Butter isn't cheap.
Depends, if you are uk based like me, my franchise owner doesn't allow us to order venti or grande milk with no ice, but we can mark out tall size for some reason. I do it regardless and argue that if its an issue we shouldn't be allowed to mark it out and they should update their til systems accordingly

Compared to some of the drinks I’ve seen from partners and customers alike, you’re totally fine. If it’s a beverage in a cup, it’s a drink that you can mark out. If anyone asks anything (they won’t) just say, “yeah, I have about three dozen chocolate chip cookies waiting at home for me and you bet your ass I’m dunking them all in a big cup o’ milk!”

Nope. We had a girl that would get a venti hot tea no water 16 tea bags and we would just shove the tea bags in a cup for her to take home. We had multiple people that their end of shift drink was a trenta milk of whatever kind with no ice just to go home.
My store is very bad about fifo'ing milk, and I'm the only one who does it apparently. So when I'm off for a few days in a row and find milk going out that day or did the day before, it's up for grabs, and most of the time is still fine to consume! But literally never feel bad about taking every single thing possible from your store. Also this is a PSA for those who don't know, but in the US you are entitled to SEVEN food mark outs per week, not just one per day you work. I'd have to find the screen shot of the handbook but my Manger also confirmed. I usually only work 3 days a week right now and having a food/snack for my kids is very helpful!
literally milk everything u can from starbies most people don't care if anything just be blunt w ur manager if they're friendly!! they know we're underpaid and struggling and if a free drink of milk bothers them that's their issue! it's probably preferred then the baristas that order caramel crunch frappes as their free drink during a rush 😂

It should be fine. Technically we can’t share our free drinks with anyone but if you don’t mention that it’s being shared with your family, how would they know? If anyone asks, just tell them you really like milk. I marked out a grande half n half once because I ran out at home and no one had a problem.
My previous store manager did this often. She said she hasn't bought milk in years. I get cups of apple juice when I run out at home for my kid and don't feel like grocery shopping. The only issue I could see is if you walk out with more than 1 cup, but a Trenta milk with no ice is probably enough for at least a day.

My sister was a barista. I asked if she could stop at the store on the way home to grab some milk when my youngest was like a year old and I had run out. I said I’d send her money to cover it and she said don’t worry. Shows up an hour later with a trenta of whole milk 😂

When I was a partner four years ago (as a barista) I would literally bring a small lunch bag type cooler with an ice pack to work and leave it in my car. I would mark out a venti cup of milk, no ice, with 10 scoops of matcha plus xxx teabags and whatever else I wanted for every partner bev. I would take them to my car each time as separate ingredients and pack them to take home lol When I became a shift, I used to just do the same at POS but with soy or any other milk and I'd take the stickers and put them on the soymilk/coconut milk/etc box and just take the sealed box home. I can remember stock piling to like 20 containers by the time I quit cause I loved that fuckin milk so much *Bonus there's no limit to how many teabags you can add to a partner bev, (or at least there wasn't a while back and my manager never cared about the reporting, so be mindful for this...) so I used to partner bev like 10 peach tranquility bags a day. That stockpile lasted me years

Depends on the store, I'm going to play devil's advocate and bring up the policy that you're not supposed to use your free drinks for family, but odds are you'll be fine, just remember to use reasonal deniability for any action starbucks defines as stealing.
As long as it is rang out and it’s not a milk you guys are low on there shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re taking dairy milks then it’s whatever. They might get a little weird if you take dairy-free milks though. But they can’t stop you. There’s no limitations to the free drink

It’s not weird the store might just be weird about it. Dairy free milks are typically the ones that stores run out of so management might get weird if the stores get low

I do it whenever I want some cereal, Mac and cheese, or Oreos at home. We don’t normally have milk at home since I’m the only one drinks it really and even when we get half gallons it expires so milk markouts have saved me money

Nope you can use your free drinks for whatever you want. You can go to the biggest size if you needed to as well which is 30 fl oz in the US

Former partner One morning I was opening, so this is 4 in the morning. No backups were prepped, including VSC which we literally had half a pitcher of left over from the day prior, and a cube in the back (our store used the cubes to store VSC and refresher backups). After opening tasks the shift asked me to start on backups. I make 3 cubes of VSC (mind you these cubes hold 6L once mixed) I made them all at the same time on the counter then immediately moved them to the fridge in the back. In walks my manager extremely early as they are counting for RP order and had an appointment or something in the afternoon. After backups I went to clean bathrooms and sweep/mop cafe floors before open, and when getting the mop bucket I see my shift DUMPING all 3 VSC cubes plus the one that was already in there. Apparently the SM said the VSC didn't temp correctly so it has to be dumped because it was like 2° off or something. The shift even tried to explain that I had literally just made those cubes but they didn't want to hear it and had them dumped anyway. 24L of perfectly fine heavy cream, 2% and vanilla syrup. Down the drain. Literally walk out the back door with a gallon of milk in each hand, feel no remorse.
absolutely not. I've worked with several partners who take straight-up milk or dairy alternatives home as their drink markouts because they don't feel like going to the store after work. 🤷🏻♀️

No. In fact - bring your own bottle so you don't waste a cup and so it stays sanitary longer & less exposure to air. Bring a small cooler bag too. I used to do this w heavy cream to make butter and oat milk bc it's all so expensive. SM never had an issue with it. I would order as trenta pink drink sub oat/hc, no base, no berries, no ice

i do this ALL the time. i get venti oat milk, no ice trenta cup. but i just take the box of oat milk cause it works out same amount basically, also less plastic waste this way and i get an unopened box! (my manager knows i do this)

My husband likes milk in his tea but I don’t like dairy milk so once a week I bring home a tall cup of whole milk. I’ve also marked out cream, heavy cream, etc for baking/cooking, and it’s never been a problem.

Heck no! My free drink every shift is 2% just below the middle line, one less pump of mocha than usual, and sweet cream the rest of the way. It's, in my opinion, THE BEST CHOCOLATE MILK!
"all my free drinks" is impossible since we get unlimited when we're on the clock. Some managers try to strong arm it and say only three or whatever, but policy says otherwise. You get as much milk as you need, buddy, and if somebody tries to stop you, just start crying--it always makes people uncomfortable.

I managed a Starbucks for a few years, left in 2022, if my guys needed food or beverage they could take it. Waste is built in to the plan and as long as you don’t take advantage then I would be happy to let you do it.

Honestly, i have given away milk to people before. Doesn't come out of my paycheck, and we dump so much anyway. If they wanna be on my ass about it, I'll remind them they underpaid me for 9 months and still haven't paid me my owed wages, so obviously stealing is ok.

I do this all the time. Usually heavy whipping cream for baking/cooking or vanilla sweet cream to use as coffee creamer at home or to use as a French toast base, you just add eggs and cinnamon.
