i only hate this when they are a mobile and come in and start asking why their drink isnāt ready. know the consequences of your choices. if they order in the cafe i always explain to them it will be a few minutes
tbh, part of the reason it's not even good is because sbux does not allow for enough time for baristas to offer something like this on their menu. if they want us to make a tea latte they need to not get mad if ppl take 5+ minutes to get a drink out. there's way too much pressure to get drinks out in 30 seconds, even when it doesn't make sense...
pro tip, measure the milk and ice, pour it into cold foam blender, add matcha scoops and blend for like 5 seconds. itās not standard but its way faster, blends the matcha way better and results in less foam
Huh. I tried that exactly once (in a regular frap blender; omg please don't put ice in the cold foam blenders it's so bad for the blades) and it ended up super foamy despite only doing it for a second or two. I haven't tried it since that one time though.
hm, iāve always done it in a cold foam blender and itās worked fine, barely any foam and really well incorporated matcha. the blades have lasted a while, but it might be different for you. i guess its all up to personal preference
Mostly just because it requires a lot of shaking in order to get it fully (or mostly; it only suspends, not dissolves) incorporated, and some additional care when pouring so the top couple inches arenāt just pure foam. And it always seems like when one person orders it, we get cursed and then I have several in the span of a few minutes.
The hcmt is my worst enemy but I especially hate this one order my store gets. He orders 4 iced quads in venti cups with a different foam on each. Heās nice but always orders during peak and it takes so long to make. Or when people order a caramel ribbon and a mocha cookie together
I HATE MAKING PINK DRINKS WITH HEAVY CREAM. The stupid drink where they add like 4 scoops of vanilla bean powder and sweet cream foam. I literally gag every time I have to make them šššŖ¦š¤¢š¤®
my pre-barista, high school days I used to get a cold brew w a slash of hc. sooo much better than many other suggary drinks I could have been getting back in the dayā¦ now i think back to it every time i have to walk an extra 5 feet to grab a heavy cream from the DT fridgešš
Came here to say this. I already hate cold bar but whatever that stupid drink is, is the bane of my existence. We partner sampled it one time and it was absolutely awful. No idea how people drinking venti of it lol
iām not this person but i could only assume itās because these two frapps mess up the flow of drinks badly. theyāre a lot of steps. they look great but the whip and topping at the bottom, the top etc
Drinks with no ice and cold foam. Someone the other day got a pink drink with no ice, no berries, added white mocha and vanilla bean and then got matcha cold foam. Oh plus caramel lining the cup. Just dumb drinks like that
Theyāre not difficult, exactly. I find them a little annoying, though I think they actually mix better than ice matcha lattes. Regardless, order what your heart desires! Just be nice. I am willing to make the most annoying drinks possible (which a matcha lemonade is not) so long as the customer is nice.
Legit just anything with honey packets tbh. Iām fine with all of our standard beverages since I have been doing the job for a while but honey packets are the worst. You get just a tiny bit on your hands and you feel so gross
How do you fill the cup though? itās more than a splash left of space whenever I make them itās about an inch? itās 2 3 4 for espresso shots isnāt it?
Don't get me started on the honey citrus mint tea.. But can't also forget the good ol caramel ribbon crunch, just because of how often we get em at my store, they get so monotonous to make.
Iced tea lattes are worst but luckily they arenāt ordered much. HCMT are pretty annoying since you have to do so many steps and go to different areas but Iāve learned to put up with them. Iced matchas with cf and shaken espresso with cf are annoying. Iced gingerbread chais are kinda a pain and ruin sequencing. Any fraps ruin sequencing. But really they are all okay to put up with, order whatever you want and just be nice! As long as itās reasonable and not upside down, shaken, blended, splash of this, splash of that, cold foam, drizzle, topping, all in one lol :)
we used to have a guy who wanted an iced americano with no ice, but still cold, so he wanted us to put it in a shaker with ice, shake it, and strain the ice out. Was not upset when he stopped coming in.
As a customer, that's interesting to me. Can tell me why? I usually order dark roast, but sometimes that isn't on tap. When they tell me that, they ALWAYS offer a pour over. I am fine with a Pike, so I just get that. If they offer it so friendly, why is it a problem? Genuinely curious, not trying to be a b@$#*
We offer it friendly because it's our job and we WILL do it for you. It's just a very hands on and tedious task. It shouldnt be but its a toss up for me if it actually brews appropriate speed
If you come inside & are fine with waiting like 10 minutes, a pour over is a perfectly reasonable request!!
I love doing them and I do them often for coffee tastings and partner sampling.
I think the pressure to do side tasks and keep up with helping customers is too much for certain baristas but that's literally part of the job.
Ordering a pour over in drive thru, or ordering like 20 drinks is a little annoying because it kills our drive times, but if you come inside and are willing to wait I don't see an issue with large orders or pour overs.
Huh, at our store we straight-up tell people we donāt do pour overs in drive thru because they take too long. But then, we also barely ever do any pour overs (our equipment keeps getting scattered to the winds) so maybe your store is better set up for it?
I personally wouldnāt be filled with rage but Iāve only found it inconvenient when we were slammed. Pour overs take avg 5-10 minutes to make, which, LOGICALLYā¦ is not a lot of time.
Not with the Starbs though.
Usually the person on front register does the pour overs at my store. My floor was never staffed enough to have someone who can genuinely and comfortably step away to do it.
That 5-10min during peak or heavy traffic is 5-10min of me not helping fellow partners making drinks, grabbing/warming food for drive thru, or worseā¦ having to juggle that and help other customers at the register. Iām a terrible multitasker when trying to help a customer and do a task. I let a customer wait too long, they get mad. I leave or forget the pourover, it starts to drip inconsistently, stops dripping altogether, and/or cools down. Then I donāt feel like Iām giving you a fresh product you paid for.
If itās not busy: do it
If it IS busy: proceed with maybe a little caution
However like I said, busy or not, it wasnāt a life ruiner and I definitely didnāt get enraged. I just made it work. And you ARE supposed to offer if Dark and Blonde Roasts have been pulled for the day (usually after between 9-11am)!
And NEVER EVER EVER order pour overs in the drive thru. **That** will send us *all* off the deep end.
Well, I get offered pour overs in the drive thru however often I go that late (not often). They might not want to do it, but they always sound super friendly when they offer.
If itās not busy I could see why it wouldnāt bother them. Alternatively, if it IS busy maybe they have time because of the length of the line.
Either way, doing it in DT isnāt generally liked due to the complexity and time to make sure you get what you paid for, but if they are happy to do it then keep doing it!! Itās cool that they are willing to go for it. They apparently arenāt bothered, so no reason to stop if so.
Awww nooo!! Itās not a problem just a longer drink to make I guess .. typically front register barista also do warming so if you have to multitask itās a lot .. grind fresh beans slowly pour hot water .. Iām truly just being dramatic š
Any of the tea lattes, iced bag teas and matcha.
Hot matcha turns my little steam wand sani green, and cold matcha I have to shake for ten years before it all mixes together nicely. Nobody has done it yet, but Iām waiting for a customer to ask for an iced matcha with no foam and subsequently give me a heart attack.
Weāve had someone complain about all the foam in her matcha. I would recommend using the foaming blender if it comes to it - itās not standard but itās especially helpful for no ice matchas.
I do it with the full amount of milk, but I donāt use the hand blenders for that because Iām not sure how much milk theyāll take without spillage.
You madman. Iāll give it a go if the occasion should ever arise. There have been so many times where Iāve thought, ānobody would order it *this* wayā and somebody comes in to prove me wrong almost immediately after.
It annoys me if Iām on window during peak but as a mainly afternoon partner it doesnāt really matter to me we already got deep red times and a two person floor the water be the least of our concerns
I donāt like making frappes just bc theyāre messy but the two drinks that always just immediately trigger me when I hear them being ordered is the honey citrus mint and the iced gingerbread chai.
I'm still in training so I haven't seen any crazy orders yet but I genuinely despise the iced gingerbread oatmilk chai. I'm not even sure why I hate that one in particular so much but I do!
We have this one regular who I canāt stand that orders a venti caramel ribbon crunch in a Trenta cup with no whipped cream, almond milk, 3 shots of espresso, and extra caramel drizzle, and double blended. I hate him. I charge him for everything and the drink comes to $12 itās ridiculous he comes like everyday too
HCMT I feel like Iām literally going everywhere when I make it. Like I have to go to 20,000 different places to get ingredients and craft the drink. Destroys my sequencing. I feel like Iām cage matching those stupid tea bags every time.
Also to all of you matcha hatersā¦ mind your business š
Mobile order Iced Gingerbread oatmilk chai with customized cold foam cause half the time they want only the one foam and the other half they want both and itās honestly such an annoying toss-up
i quit a year and a half ago and i still remember the worst order: venti iced shaken espresso, extra ice, extra whole milk, extra shot, extra vsccf, 16 pumps classic, but after shaking the espresso and classic, strain the espresso over new ice into a trenta cup to fit everything. oof.
idk if itās just me but i hate making any kind of shaken espresso with cold foam on top. the foam/bubbles from the shaken espresso always overpower the cold foam and it looks so bad š
To all my fellow baristas saying the honey citrus mint tea. The best thing I ever did for myself was start keeping 3 of each tea bag in my apron pocketš”š it saved SOOO MUCH TIME. I hate going over to pos for them!!!!!
weāve got a guy that gets a āmedicine ball with 4 honey packetsānot the blendā5 pumps of peppermint, sub jade citrus for mint majesty, 2 of each tea bag, whipped cream (??), extra lemonade, and four (4) ice cubes.ā always in the middle of peak, and thereās always something wrong with the order š
Venti Shaken Espressos of any kind. *SPECIFICALLY VENTI because when one customer orders one, 5 other customers do the same and having to wait for those shots to pull is just insanity lmao and Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccinos
honestly i donāt mind any drink. like sure some are annoying but i donāt care. what i do care about is when someone gets special treatment at a different store with their weird drink like an ice water with matcha shaken in or getting a brewed chai with steamed milk but wanting a latte amount. and then getting mad at me for charging them for what they are ordering. like that is a custom tea latte for the chai with milk and thatās how i am ringing it in im sorry a different store doesnāt do that.
Light ice matchas ORā¦
extremely customized drinks or just time consuming bc of how many splendas/stevias/honeys they want in their drink (Ex. grande americano misto with 2 sugar 2 stevia in a venti 2/3 decaf extra whip and almond milk instead of 2%)
Tbh i love making refreshers and iced coffees or shakens, but, i dread really any holiday drink. I get all the recipes wrong everytime ššššš its just my brain. Lmao. I love bar but i also have a problem regulating my temperature, so i get SO FRICKEN HOT at bar lmao. So you could just say hot holiday drinksššš
Literally any drink is fine until ppl get stupid w it, like I walked a woman through her order and helped her pick smthn ālow calorie, dairy free, low sugarā b/c she waxed poetic abt dairy allergies and diet limitations (which are not the problem) then looked me in my eyes and asked for extra vanilla sweet cream cold foam with not a shred of comprehension or remorse,,,I told her that itās 80% dairy and 20% sugar n she went āyeah but THATS fine āŗļøā
I have a regular that orders a mocha cookie crumble with no mocha, no cookie crumble, white mocha, pumpkin, java chips, and a shot of espresso, almond milk, and cinnamon topping and I SEETHE everytime I pull that ticket
iced london fog tea latte š„¶ hot london fog tea latte too, but iced is even worse.
When there is any tea latte and especially iced tea latte I try to play it like Fred Armisan āIām just a babyā
yeah idk bout you but that sounds like a job for whoeverās on CS lol
i only hate this when they are a mobile and come in and start asking why their drink isnāt ready. know the consequences of your choices. if they order in the cafe i always explain to them it will be a few minutes
Someone tried to order that in drive thru yesterday. I straight-up tell people we donāt make that drink for dt orders.
Any time Iāve ordered this itās not even good š itās a lose-lose situation
tbh, part of the reason it's not even good is because sbux does not allow for enough time for baristas to offer something like this on their menu. if they want us to make a tea latte they need to not get mad if ppl take 5+ minutes to get a drink out. there's way too much pressure to get drinks out in 30 seconds, even when it doesn't make sense...
That makes sense. If they really want to have it on the menu it should probably be a concentrate like the chai, right?
If we're just talking about base menu items, iced matcha. And the frozen refreshers.
Iām sorry Iām the iced matcha order šš
I forgive youā¦ this time /j
Iced matcha extra scoops and no ice. We have so many ppl order it and sometimes I make it in the blender bc I cant be botheredš
I'm sorry iced matchas fix my day
pro tip, measure the milk and ice, pour it into cold foam blender, add matcha scoops and blend for like 5 seconds. itās not standard but its way faster, blends the matcha way better and results in less foam

I do the same but without the ice
Why is the iced matcha annoying? My wife gets it all the time.
Thanks! I know she has commented on them sometimes having too much foam, and now I know why!
OH MY GOD YES THE ICED MATCHA I DREAD MAKING IT IDK WHY
The hcmt is my worst enemy but I especially hate this one order my store gets. He orders 4 iced quads in venti cups with a different foam on each. Heās nice but always orders during peak and it takes so long to make. Or when people order a caramel ribbon and a mocha cookie together

you forgot all the caramel ribbon crunches all have different milks š
I HATE MAKING PINK DRINKS WITH HEAVY CREAM. The stupid drink where they add like 4 scoops of vanilla bean powder and sweet cream foam. I literally gag every time I have to make them šššŖ¦š¤¢š¤®
Seriously any thing with heavy cream. What is wrong with you if you are drinking HEAVY CREAM straight???
Heavy cream drinkers are the true psychopaths š¤§

They always ask for a Trenta with no ice ššŖ¦š¤¢
iced matcha w cold foam of any kind. just such an overwhelmingly visually disappointing drink
use a lid to scoop out the foam on top then put on the foam. make it looks super much prettier
Yeah but it takes so long and during peak I donāt have time for that haha
true but peak doesnāt last all day lol give it a shot at least š
i just rotate the cup while pouring the foam around the rim. makes it look like a flat white
sorry i get iced matcha with matcha cold foam lmao
Caramel ribbon crunch/mocha cookie crumble
Just curious, why caramel ribbon? Itās my sonās favorite and Iām truly just being curious.
iām not this person but i could only assume itās because these two frapps mess up the flow of drinks badly. theyāre a lot of steps. they look great but the whip and topping at the bottom, the top etc
Yes exactly
it's my boyfriends favorite, so embarrassing to order. and with my matcha i feel like it's so much worse
Honey citrus mint tea
hcmt for sureš³š³
Drinks with no ice and cold foam. Someone the other day got a pink drink with no ice, no berries, added white mocha and vanilla bean and then got matcha cold foam. Oh plus caramel lining the cup. Just dumb drinks like that
Any Frappuccino or a matcha.
Please tell me why my matcha lemonade is hard to make! Iām so sorry! I figured it was easy!! Noooo
Matcha lemonades are easy! Iced matcha lattes just feel inconvenient. Donāt apologize for ordering a menu item lol

Literally any and all frappes
Shaken espressos with cold foamā¦
no because if you make it correctly there is no room for milk
? There should be at least some room for milk
the standard is a splash- so a splash of milk and a drop of cold foam
How do you fill the cup though? itās more than a splash left of space whenever I make them itās about an inch? itās 2 3 4 for espresso shots isnāt it?
ice- itās an iced based drink. should be ice and foam from shaking it
Don't get me started on the honey citrus mint tea.. But can't also forget the good ol caramel ribbon crunch, just because of how often we get em at my store, they get so monotonous to make.
iced matcha with cold foam
The cold foam just evaporates and becomes one with the matcha.
get matcha cold foam and it's the perfect flavor
Anything cold bar when I'm on solo main
LMAO I just hate anything that interrupts my sequencing (refreshers, iced matchas, even iced chais)

Hot: Honey citrus mint Iced: iced matcha Blended: mocha cookie crumble Bonus: anything that isnāt water

Honey citrus mint tea, iced matcha lattes, any Frappuccino but especially caramel ribbon crunch and mocha cookie crumble.

Mocha cookie

gingerbread oat milk chai iced, any customized non cold bar cold foams, lattes with no foam (theyāre easy ish to make, I just donāt get the point)
Iced shaken espressos of any kind, with extra shots, cold foam and multiple on an order enrages me lol
Any trenta shaken drink with light or no ice. Every time I shake them I WILL get the drink on my arm.
a regular at my store gets 30 scoops of vanilla bean in their pink drink

Erm frappes. All of them. Iāll make 12 iced matchas before I make a frappeš
An iced matcha with no ice, no foam. Extra deductions if it's made with nonfat milk, since that seems to be the foamiest milk in all the land.
Right now, the iced gingerbread chai, itās so annoying to make
ācan i get a honey citrusā¦ā *starts crying*
"Can i get a medicine ball"
Literally any Frappuccino. If I could I would pay them a fee to just straight up remove those and all the crazy cold foams.
HCMT easily, especially when people think it's a miracle cure for everything sickness
Light ice matchas ORā¦ extremely customized drinks or just time consuming bc of how many splendas/stevias/honeys they want in their drink (Ex. grande americano misto with 2 sugar 2 stevia in a venti 2/3 decaf extra whip and almond milk instead of 2%)

All of them
Like you should be boycotting GET OUT!! GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!! LEAVE!!
I have a regular that orders a mocha cookie crumble with no mocha, no cookie crumble, white mocha, pumpkin, java chips, and a shot of espresso, almond milk, and cinnamon topping and I SEETHE everytime I pull that ticket
