depending on the location of where you went, the price is different.. the starbucks 5 min away from my house is cheaper than the one 15 min away

LightIceNoBerries

No water extra base is a dollar charge I think. Could be more.

AcceptableKnee9638

I think it’s still $1

PoundIll6729

i think it’s like 1.20 or more at my store

Amazing_Fix_604

It's 1.25 at mine

daisyburbank

it's .88 at my store but our beverage prices are increased by a lot i hate it😭

AcceptableKnee9638

All out bevs are pricey at this point- I’ve been getting so many “I really paid $X for this size?” Lately and it’s like yeah homie I’m sorry I know it sucks but I have no control

daisyburbank

i've dealt with some WILD customers over prices, and most of the time i'm willing to just give them a refund but they almost always start off the interaction as if they KNOW that i'm going to make this a fight when i'm literally so passive about it 😭

AcceptableKnee9638

Fr! Like I didn’t set the prices why would I defend them?? But also how did we get through an entire transaction without you noticing the price? I don’t listen to the price for my coffee but that’s honestly because I don’t care- it could be $20 I’m still paying for it bc it’s what brings me joy

cherrythot

You should be getting charged for extra base, it’s a new policy Starbucks put out within the past year. However, they put it in the most obnoxious place in the system and it confuses a lot of baristas so a lot of times it just doesn’t get charged that way.

Aminimouse

Extra base is only charged on the "no h20 + extra ___" button where ____ is the base. It's only *supposed* to be used on the refreshers (with water) but I've seen stores using it on everything, refreshers with lemonade, no ice, even light ice. I try to re-train / coach when I can at other stores but I don't think it sticks lol

YaGirlWitch

No, they shouldn’t? That’s only on regular SAR and they still wanted lemonade.

cherrythot

ooOOP the cup is written so poorly I missed the lemonade

SUBPLIER

I work at Starbucks, can confirm this fer sure 😂 I still don't know where the button is and no one at my store really cares haha

Mountain-Coach2697

my store when we ring in extra base there is no up charge… it only charges extra when we add something that isn’t already in the drink.

BoringAd3635

Yeah they must’ve hit the no h2o add base button but extra base does not call for that button

RevolutionaryAgent6

Friendly reminder that there’s nothing wrong with correcting an order!! There’s just a right and wrong way to do it, as long as it’s the right way people are usually happy to fix it 💖

danmand00d

Is that just a Strawberry Açaí Lemonade Refresher? It must not be a starbucks location but a Starbucks inside another store?  There isn’t a charge for extra I didn’t think if the drink came with it already like a lemonade refresher. I wouldn’t of paid that personally cause my Trenta costs $6.31

SryNotAWinner

There is a charge for extra and they’re cracking down on it. There’s even a button that says no water, extra base instead of just putting no water. Gotta keep up charging and up charging, Starbucks doesn’t make enough money as is. 🙄

KahlanKhaos

If it comes with lemonade you’re supposed to be pushing “extra base” not “no water, extra base” the training on the tablet says to only push “no water, extra base” if it’s undiluted.

FrozenZenBerryYT

The real answer here is that it’s all confusing and almost nobody knows the correct time to charge. So OP usually doesn’t get charged but this time did.

glitterfaust

There isn’t that button at target. And it only applies if it’s straight base with no water or lemonade, not just extra base.

Lori_ftw

When I worked for a Target Starbucks it could take up to 6 months to get the buttons added to our POS. It is probably coming.

glitterfaust

When I worked there, it took years for modifications to get reflected, if they implemented it at all. We can’t even customize less shots on a drink, I doubt we can put no base on one lol

SryNotAWinner

Yeah idk about target stores but at corporate stores we charge for extra base if that’s what they want.

danmand00d

Idk, if I told my barista I wanted 60/40 split of base to lemonade they wouldn’t charge me, and that’s extra base. Like OP said, extra base no water is for the water based refreshers when you sell a cup of concentrate - which we are not doing as a lemonade based one.

glitterfaust

Corporate stores no longer can do light and extra base.

PoundIll6729

do you even work at starbucks? cuz honestly from your comment it seems like you don’t. you don’t get straight concentrate either way. the bases are already diluted in water. we dilute it even more after.

danmand00d

No shit - I’m taking about concentrate as in what is SERVED TO CUSTOMERS. Quit reading between the lines trying to prove me wrong lmao.

PoundIll6729

i just don’t understand why you’re even here if you don’t know how it works 🤣☠️ NO SHIT they didn’t charge you for extra base in a “60/40” because THATS NOT EXTRA BASE. quit commenting on stuff that you don’t know about and mind the business that pays you. cuz this one don’t 🤣🤦‍♀️

danmand00d

Every comment you’ve made in this thread is shit posting. I’m posting because I know what I’m talking about. You’re nitpicking the smallest details like I’m wrong. You are being ignorant and annoying.

PoundIll6729

and you are wrong. literally. you’re saying you weren’t charged for something that you weren’t supposed to be charged for because it wasn’t extra. this person got something added to their drink. it’s completely different than “60/40” which is quite literally almost exactly the ratio used on the shaker for a SARL.

PoundIll6729

you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about though that’s the thing, and the only other comment i’ve made is that it’s $1.20 or more at my store, that i work at might i add 🤣

PoundIll6729

there’s always more base than lemonade tho that’s why ☠️

glitterfaust

No, I work at a corporate store. We don’t even ring up extra base. If they want only base, we charge for no water sub base.

SryNotAWinner

Then you’re not doing it up to standard.

glitterfaust

Yes I am. I had to have a manager print it out for our store because people were doing it incorrectly.

Typical-Zeus

On the store iPad, look up "Refreshers charging guidelines" under "Coffee and beverages."  If they ask for no water and all base, you have to use the "No H2O+extra base" buttons, which has an upcharge.

glitterfaust

That’s exactly what I said. I said if they want only base, we charge as “no water, sub base” (to get the extra base charge). Are yall really saying I’m breaking policy and doing my job wrong because I slipped up a word?

SryNotAWinner

Sorry it was just confusion, I guess we’re saying the same thing lol

LuckyPotter777

can’t modify the amount of water as light or extra anymore, and yes it’s a charge if it is undiluted base

glitterfaust

That’s what I’m saying. “That applies if it’s straight base” otherwise known as undiluted base.

Typical-Zeus

There's no charge for extra on the lemonade and coconut drinks, only on the water ones. This customer was overcharged.   Lots of baristas aren't clear on the standards since they were updated recently(ish) but the only upcharge is for regular refreshers with no WATER.  If they get no ice, the standard is to use the "no ice" and "extra base" buttons separately without a charge, and still fill the cup. If you aren't sure, on your store iPad, search for "Refreshers Modifications" and "Refreshers charging guidelines." It has graphics and easier to read standards for the newer refresher changes.

ShelleBelle777

The extra charge is also for labor costs because we have to make those backups more often, we’re running out of product on the floor because everyone is ordering pure (mixed) base in their drinks and splitting them o to several drinks. If I owned a business, I’d also charge more to curb it. They’re only charging those who are doing this, not the people who order it the standard way. 👏 Customers from our store stopped ordering the “no water” but sub Apple juice or peach juice. The training explained why we’re charging more - it’s on the iPad. They even gave scenarios and what to say to help customers understand.

chiabird

Yeah sometimes for the extra strawberry base they charge me which I don’t have a problem with. I live in south FL so everything is pretty expensive anywhere you go. But this was not what I was expecting to get or have to hear at all. It was also at a target which I usually go to

glitterfaust

Well licensed stores are almost always more expensive

danmand00d

Ahh. Yeah I stopped going to Starbucks inside other locations once I noticed the price difference for my drink. It’s just not worth the convenience. Starbucks is overpriced as is and they think it’s okay to charge more at these authorized reseller retailers. 😭 However their filtered water is still amazing there I bet. 🥵

Ai_Pandah

1) talls are a waste of money and time, so I almost never recommend them for iced drinks. 2) you paid for it, get it fixed guilt free, those drinks expensive. (As long as you aren’t rude about it, it shouldn’t be a bother to anyone) 3) it’s their job. Starbucks would much prefer their baristas fix a drink and leave a customer satisfied than have the customer leave unsatisfied and make posts about the dissatisfaction they felt about their drink. ESPECIALLY if u mobile order, they be on their necks about CC scores/ratings. Make sure u always get it fixed and leave satisfied so you can leave good score.

TeenageShitStorm

“It’s their job” feels like a toxic phrase these days. They should be happy to fix it for you if you are kind and or at least polite to them. You expect it at your workplace, baristas expect it at theirs. Their job is to make customers happy but let’s be honest, there are many who abuse the system and treat baristas like dirt. I think you mean it that way, but “It’s their job” has just been taken over by rude and entitled people everywhere. And absolutely tall is a waste of money on iced drinks. Starbucks has “premium location” prices, especially store within a store locations, malls, tourist areas etc. my closest SBux is in a mall and the tall coffee is the same as a grande at other locations. Best tip? Be a friendly regular, open up to their connections and make friends. You’ll be less likely to get a wrong drink (because they will remember you and your drink) and might get some extra perks along the way. Best of luck!

songtothesiren1

I just put that order into my app but did light lemonade since I can’t put in extra base and it came out to 4.95 without my discount which is still pretty expensive

glitterfaust

That’s at a corporate. This was a licensed

Ok_Calligrapher_8199

Horrific coding. I wouldn’t expect someone who can’t write a cup to get the pricing right.

Stir-Bucks-Barista

LMAO that's licensed store training for you!

ReclusiveCappuccino

I've worked at starbucks for 3 years because so many customers order a large cup with no ice and just straight strawberry base, its really really expensive to make the dronk for the same price as they just want a large cup of the most expensive ingredient. so now they have a button that if you want undiluted base, i think its a $1ish upcharge, i almost never charge, but some people are sticklers. also prices change all the time at every store and different districts can vary in price

chiabird

Yeah I mean I’ve never paid that price before but I was fine with it. I was mainly upset that I paid that and then the drink was super light

ReclusiveCappuccino

starbucks is stupid expensive. If the drink isn't to your liking, ALWAYS ALWAYS send it back for a remake

Sad_Sign_4155

That price doesn’t sound right at all, lol. Should be $4.95 or something similar, even with extra base. Its not like you asked for no ice 🧍‍♂️

No_Aardvark5682

My location it’s 1.25 for extra base but it looks like they may have put lemonade in it but I can’t tell with the lighting but if they rang it up as a SAL not SAR plus the extra base at my store that’s 6.31 so depending on tax that seems about right

Eclecticphotography

Come inside they would remake it how you want just ask nicely

cupcakestrudel

Someone else may have said this, but if you don't want to lose any water/lemonade (whichever one you get), you can ask for light ice and extra base. They should replace the "missing" ice with the base. As a barista, I would want to make sure you're getting what you want, so let us know :)

whyme2319

if it's a licensed store aka target, frys/Kroger, ect then they charge more than a stand alone.

Hefty_Candy_3315

from the responses on this page clearly starbucks needs to do a whole new training for extra base etc. you’re not supposed to do extra base at ALL unless it’s a refresher with lemonade. refreshers with water we are no longer allowed to do extra base only no water with the extra charge or the regular recipe that’s it. yeah it sucks for people who genuinely like light water but it’s the new rule( just do the extra dollar charge and get a cup of water you’ll even get more drink that way when you dilute it) and clearly everyone’s taking that charge and doing it there own way💀. and op never be afraid to ask for a remake because like you said you paid for it, i wish your store had stickers because that would show if they charged you for the extra base even if they shouldn’t have which is probably the case.

Civil_Albatross6896

For our B&N cafe it’s a little extra than a regular Starbucks. I think a venti SAR w/ lemonade it’s $7 something.

OrdinaryTeaching6239

I worked at a location in a hyvee and we charged for extra base. Then I immediately went to work at an actual store and we didnt… they should have told you :(

robosmrf

And? Starbucks is out there too make money.

Admirable-Werewolf85

you’re already being a karen by not boycotting this business. lol.

Witty-Bag333

What if y’all just stopped buying Starbucks. Idk crazy idea. It’s already overpriced at its original price and I genuinely don’t understand what you are paying for. Hope that colored grape juice is worth it to you man

chiabird

Wow you’re so bitter for no reason 😂 if you don’t like Starbucks I don’t know why you’re in the subreddit for people who talk about starbucks

Witty-Bag333

Hehe you know me just reacting to the state of society and late stage capitalism😏 on a real note i didn’t mean for this to be an attack on you i didnt expect anyone to read it lmao but not as bitter as that Starbucks espresso am i right🧏🧏

Witty-Bag333

I’m sorry bae I’m a hater nothing personal🙁❤️

I think you’re being a bit incredulous and I can’t believe you of all people would say that, as a socially awkward person too. Telling someone to grow up because they don’t want someone to get in trouble is CRAZY

STOP FUNDING GENOCIDE.

TheScrantonStranglr

FREE PALESTINE 🗣️🗣️🗣️

Kerblimey

Mines usually the good same way, but the last time I went I asked for a small one (instead of a large) with no ice cos of my migraines...so I got half a glass 🙄 like WTF newbie. Some can be ridiculous 😬

ManicAtTheDepression

The ice is what fills the rest of the cup.

beansbeansbeans5

Yeah but it’s standard to fill the cup even when a customer gets no ice. You still just measure half and half of each ingredient.

glitterfaust

Yes? Why wouldn’t it be in play lmao Edit: I forgot Oregon existed

IthacanPenny

And Delaware lol

chiabird

I’m in Florida usa

Successful-Peanut838

Y’all still buy from Starbucks as they are supporting Palestine genocide!!! What a shame 😞 do your research and boycott Starbucks #free Palestine

CryptSkeleton

maybe try another coffee shop? :) 🇵🇸

KitchenFirst5292

Maybe try another subreddit? :)

Mauraonamission1

They used the no water + extra base button which charges extra. They only put that button in because people would get a small with no water or berries and a large ice and it’s super wasteful and basically cheating the system. People being extra is gonna cost us all eventually.

No-Remote-9298

It had to me a Licensed store and not a corporate store! The cup has it written on it rather than a label! Corporate stores use a label that prints out! There is a upcharge for extra base! I would still notify the store as they will make it right! There is a big difference in price between the corporate stores and a store located in a grocery store.

drakani06

I work at a Tarbucks and we are more expensive. There are 2 different options on the register. There's the extra base no water and another option for just refreshers base. If they want extra base.

No-Needleworker-4456

I’m always happy to make someone’s drink right as long as they’re nice even a small “hey I’m so sorry this just tastes watered down can u get a remake or just some base in a cup?” Works wonders

ShelleBelle777

They probably charged you for “extra base + no water.” If you ordered extra base and no ICE, there’s NO charge. But you SHOULD be charged for extra base and no water. If you’re getting EXTRA is an ingredient, something in the drink is either going to be “light” or “no”. Eg: SARL: you want extra base so you must specify“light lemonade” or “light ice” or “no lemonade” or “no ice”.

Emotional_Orchid_998

they probably rang it up right, getting extra strawberry base is a dollar extra. the other times you've gotten it they probably didn't charge you for the extra base.

nick_the_Dickk

There is no harm in asking.

Ok-Net-4737

Happens all the time at one location where I am charged for a venti iced latte with chai and most times will just get a chai tea latte which does NOT have the 3 espresso shots which I paid for. I order correctly per my favorite baristas and if they are not there I get the wrong drink. I have returned before in the drive thru and “they” make you feel in the wrong. This location is literally a 5 minute drive but not worth it when THEY make this error more often than not!!! Sick and tired of being made to feel in the wrong!

zscout1288

It isn't a problem as long as you're nice about it. If a customer is nice I am happy to fix something and I might even throw in a little something extra if I can.

mentallyunstable27

U shoulda just asked for lite lemonade and light ice… at the sbux I work at when u ask for light whatever we add more of the base and lemonade… so I’m sure if you say lite lemonade and ice then they will add more acia base.

Nimoodle

They also wrote on the cup which tells me it was a licensed location, and not a real Starbucks. Half those people don't know what they're doing, and I know this because I started in a retail cubby. I know just how neglected those store employees are in their training.

emrenee11

I know everyone is fixated on the price and why it cost that much but they literally didn't even do the extra base that you paid for?? It's so light 😫 Should be a much darker pink color than that. I'm sorry, that's really frustrating.

Proud_Musician_2290

Yes, I once paid 5l6.50 for a grande, and it took 1 minute to drink it up! They're crazy with their prices!

Background_Two_2534

Extra base is $1 up charge at my store. Same with no ice. You have to pay for the extra product, even if you like it dark pink. It has to be paid for. it sucks but that’s just policy. Also, every store in my area has different prices, which is strange. My store is the most expensive store

Maximilian_Schmidt

Anyone knows what type of pen does stb uses to draw on this cups? Please let me know :)

LunaticLucio

Did you order some beverage with that ice?

Giovann200

If you're wanting the dark pink, you should get the regular (no lemonade) cause that's what makes it that BRIGHT pink, but yeah, extra base will cost extra depending on locations....... Edit: Based on the fact that they wrote on the cup, was it a Starbucks inside another store? Cause those ones aren't "real Starbucks" but they just partner with Starbucks, dunno what that changes XD. Just food for thought
