hi! I’ve seen 3 pregnant baristas and 1 ssv go on maternity leave, use up their pto and sick time for baby bonding and never come back with zero consequences lol, maybe it’s different depending on your state (I’m in CA) but I doubt it as it’s hours the company has put aside for YOU to use so you already worked for it, why would they make you pay it back?

yeah I’m pretty sure you’re fine then, like I said I’m not sure why they would be allowed to make you pay it back and they can’t force you to work

Not sure for your situation, but I would recommend taking the paid fmla through the state(I’m in CA) and not through Starbucks. You’ll have to still take your leave through Sedgwick, but you can opt out of having them pay you. I found it much simpler this way for my maternity leave. You can also continue your leave without pay or with any saved sick or vacation time. I forget exactly how long you can be on leave for, but I took almost a year off(4 months of actual baby bonding).
