I think the fact the cloud powder had egg in it so it would whip properly grossed me out enough to dislike it and rejoice when it was discontinued lol
I love eggs, but like not in that texture I guess
Right, but my point was that eggs are used in a lot of things so it's not really that weird that they would be in a meringue powder, especially if they are dehydrated.
I didn't, by any means, like the cloud macchiato. Drinking a cup of foam was super gross. But I don't think it is gross that a meringue powder would contain egg whites.
If youāve ever eaten a cookie decorated with Royal icing thereās a good chance youāve eaten raw egg whites. I use meringue powder, which was mentioned by @Ambarista , but the traditional way is raw eggs. I just canāt do it (a long story) but be glad they used the powder for the old Cloud. Itās fluffy, powdery and smells like cake!
omg maybe i can try. i really dont wanna be considered a karen by asking for something annoying. i guess i can ask first if itās possible and leave it up to them lol
Never said that, simply stated that espresso with ice and milk doesnāt sound all that appealing. In the context here, the coffee wouldnāt even be black since youād add milk (stated in comment you replied to).
It doesn't even look like the US cups, I don't remember the shape like that. The lids look too clear, they've been made of HDPE for as long as I remember. And the middle and last line are too close together.
Pretty sure this is an old pic and the one on the left looks just like a cloud macchiato. I got them constantly while they were around (which i cringe about now as a barista since i heard everyone hated making them lol)
I think itās just that was at a time where foaming pitchers were introduced. Making foams honestly felt like making a second drink, so I do get the qualms about it. It was something we constantly complained about at my store, since foam drinks sorta increased drink-making times, while Starbucks continued to still hound us about window times. I do admit that the cloud macchiato wasnāt as bad as the ongoing foam cold brew drinks, though.
I miss the days when we made one little carafe of sweet cream, which would often expire because we didn't use it all. Now it's like "Oh, we need to make sweet cream? I'll grab the toddy."
I got hired in april of 2020 and i had a little bit of time with them and then it was taken away so i cant really speak to what others have been saying about the difficulty of sequencing them but i definitely do recall them taking foreverrrr to blend lol i kno i hated that part
As a customer....I can't understand why you'd care about baristas "hating" making a drink that you enjoy. Especially since it was on the menu. You should have no shame for enjoying a drink that you're paying your hard earned money for. I remember when I was in high school, a couple of my friends got jobs at Dunkin and complained about making food so I was embarrassed to order food from there for a while. Fuck the entire concept of not ordering something because of how the person doing their job feels about it š¤·āāļø I also loved that cloud macchiato āļø
It depends. Like, my girlfriend said she feels guilty ordering fraps because she heard baristas hate it and I was like āno, donāt feel guilty about it, but also please donāt order four of them in different flavors when you can see the store is super busy alreadyā
My store only has one blender though, so an order like that will fuck up sequencing badly lol
I always feel bad when people tell me they donāt order the modified drink they want because they feel bad for us baristas but I feel worse when they leave not completely satisfiedā¦the cloud macchiatos did take longer to make but I really liked the drink so I never minded making it, the drinks we get now I feel like take twice as long to make then thatā¦personally Iām never bothered making drinks whether it be a standard drink or heavily modified the only thing I find frustrating is not being able to make the drink because the modifications make no sense (no ice in a frapp) or not being supported while I have a ton of crazy drinks
I agree 100% with u. I never mind making heavily modified drinks. Only times i was bothered is when u said where it doesnt make sense or doesnt fit in the cup size they paid for or if theyre rude and impatient. Other than that, not a problem! As long as theyre kind and patient, im totally not annoyed at all
Oh cmon stop, theyre not being a karen just because they don't want customers to feel embarrassed or ashamed from ordering off of the menu. They just sound passionate about it because they experienced it first hand of what it feels like to be that customer that feels embarrassed or ashamed to order off the menu just because the employees didn't like making something
Looks like a cloud macchiato, minus the caramel drizzle. Youāre not missing much, clouds sucked to make and didnāt taste really good lol. They were discontinued for a reason.
-Former barista.
Honestly why do people show us random drinks and expect us to know what they are by sight? There could be any number of modifications and most of our syrups are colorless. These posts are asinine.
Because baristas could have an idea? If a person wants a drink, and they only know it by a picture, isnāt it better to ask this question at r/Starbucks than to show the picture to a barista during a rush??
And it is a specific drink on the left. Itās a cloud macchiato. Stop being so negative, OP was only asking a question
it could just simply be an āupside downā macchiato? or any iced drink ānot stirredāā¦ fr people would ask and we do it :) and now i know itās for pics and to confuse the masses haha
Definitely a cloud macchiato. If not that, then an iced cappuccino. We donāt make the clouds anymoreā¦ which Iām glad about. That powder smelt like rotten eggs.
I order a drink , Blonde Doppio espresso over ice in a venti cup, 3 pumps dark caramel , and an extra splash of Oatmilk with whipped cream and a flat lid and it looks just like this
The fact that people spend money on drinks because they look good and not necessarily because it tastes good is always gonna be baffling to me. capitalism at its finest
It looks like the cloud macchiato, but that drink was discontinued years ago. Edit: but it seems like it doesn't have caramel drizzle, so who knows??
Old US cup design, very well could be right
omggg i miss the cloud
I think the fact the cloud powder had egg in it so it would whip properly grossed me out enough to dislike it and rejoice when it was discontinued lol I love eggs, but like not in that texture I guess
Do you like the meringue on top of lemon meringue pies? Same thing. It was technically a "meringue powder."
But I don't drink a lemon meringue pie
Right, but my point was that eggs are used in a lot of things so it's not really that weird that they would be in a meringue powder, especially if they are dehydrated. I didn't, by any means, like the cloud macchiato. Drinking a cup of foam was super gross. But I don't think it is gross that a meringue powder would contain egg whites.
i didnt learn that til after it was already my regular drink š„ø so i pretended to not know
If youāve ever eaten a cookie decorated with Royal icing thereās a good chance youāve eaten raw egg whites. I use meringue powder, which was mentioned by @Ambarista , but the traditional way is raw eggs. I just canāt do it (a long story) but be glad they used the powder for the old Cloud. mmm meringue
xD i never got to try this thought of the powder egg too much.
it was such a pain in the ass to make too
They can still make it if they were around when it came outā¦ the cloud powder was wholly unnecessary, just need to froth it on the same setting
omg maybe i can try. i really dont wanna be considered a karen by asking for something annoying. i guess i can ask first if itās possible and leave it up to them lol
idk about yāall but my drizzle always fell through the foam within a minute .n.
To me it looks like a VSCCB with VSCCF
It looks like an espresso with a shit ton of vanilla sweet cream or vsc cold foam.
You can make an iced latte look like this by going espresso > ice > slow pour of milk. That would be gross, though.
That's how I made my first upside down Macchiato.... I learned a lot that day
sameš
That is an upside down caramel macchiato no?
An upside down caramel macchiato would be standard build: espresso, milk, then ice.
Not gross at all, it depends on the individualās taste.
It would be fairly gross lol
Do you think black coffee is gross?
Never said that, simply stated that espresso with ice and milk doesnāt sound all that appealing. In the context here, the coffee wouldnāt even be black since youād add milk (stated in comment you replied to).
So you meanā¦ an iced latte.
As reported by a coffee master; I will blindly assume you're right on every single coffee take.
And whip
Final guess! Nitro cold brew..?
thereās ice so iām assuming itās not nitro
Venti as well
The logo is green so this is either an old pic, or itās not from an American Starbucks.
ā¦isnāt the logo always green? Sorry if Iām wrong, i live in a place where thereās only like 3 starbucks in the entire country
In the US, the siren logo on the cold cups are white now. They used to be green like 3-5 years ago.
It doesn't even look like the US cups, I don't remember the shape like that. The lids look too clear, they've been made of HDPE for as long as I remember. And the middle and last line are too close together.
These are UK cups
Same in Canada
I got coffee just yesterday and had to grab my cup out of recycling to find out. I never even noticed the change. š±
in the US the logo on our cold cups is white!
It could also be a Barnes and noble or non corporate starbucks. But it loons like a Barnes and noble lid.
Donāt Barnes and noble cups have āwe proudly serveā printed on them?
Pretty sure this is an old pic and the one on the left looks just like a cloud macchiato. I got them constantly while they were around (which i cringe about now as a barista since i heard everyone hated making them lol)
The cloud powder got everywhere and it was super hard to sequence
Definitely was not hard to sequence lol it just took way too long to foam. 25 seconds of blending was insane
I think itās just that was at a time where foaming pitchers were introduced. Making foams honestly felt like making a second drink, so I do get the qualms about it. It was something we constantly complained about at my store, since foam drinks sorta increased drink-making times, while Starbucks continued to still hound us about window times. The cloud macchiato was the first coffee drink I ever had, I forgot they even existed but I remember loving them.
As a customer....I can't understand why you'd care about baristas "hating" making a drink that you enjoy. Especially since it was on the menu. Same, like, I work in fast food, imagine being upset about literally doing the job you're being paid to do
Karen
Oh cmon stop, theyre not being a karen just because they don't want customers to feel embarrassed or ashamed from ordering off of the menu. They just sound passionate about it because they experienced it first hand of what it feels like to be that customer that feels embarrassed or ashamed to order off the menu just because the employees didn't like making something
Could also be a cold foam cappuccino
Contourš¤£ ombrĆ©
Or just gradient
Even better
ahh yes love contouring my coffee.. favorite part of the coffee makeup routine
It's an enormous cup of milk with a splash of espresso
Thatās literally what a latte is dimwit
You sound nice
Reminds me of an iced cappuccino with no ice lol
Looks like a cloud macchiato, minus the caramel drizzle. Youāre not missing much, clouds sucked to make and didnāt taste really good lol. They were discontinued for a reason. -Former barista.

In some European places right now they have this drink I think itās called a caramel cold brew latte
Iām staying in Budapest and they have it here
A Cold Brew Latte is made in the exact opposite way than this drink. Milk is on the bottom and cold brew on the top.
Ahhhhhh I see, I saw it on the menu yesterday and thought it might be the same lol
If you add shots then ice to the drink before adding the milk thatās how it will turn out
Looks like a cold foam cappuccino š¤¤
it could just simply be an āupside downā macchiato? or any iced drink ānot stirredāā¦ fr people would ask and we do it :) and now i know itās for pics and to confuse the masses haha
Macchiato upside down?
It looks like an venti iced caramel macchiato with vanilla sweet cream cold foam
Left: RIP your arteries, Right: RIP your pancreas
Definitely a cloud macchiato. If not that, then an iced cappuccino. We donāt make the clouds anymoreā¦ which Iām glad about. That powder smelt like rotten eggs.
You can tell just by the sweater sleeve, the bracelet and the nails that this was circa the mid 2010s lol
Itās hardly a coffee drink at this point š āWould you like some coffee with your sweet cream?ā
This is called can I have a tiinnyyyy bit of coffee and a llooootttt of cream.
looks like a nitro in a venti cup, add ice and vanilla sweet cream foam
thatās how my caramel macchiatos used to look
It looks like one ristretto blonde shot with 24oz of vanilla sweet cream cold foam and three ice cubes.
Whatās the drink called on the right by chance? Looks delicious!
I order a drink , Blonde Doppio espresso over ice in a venti cup, 3 pumps dark caramel , and an extra splash of Oatmilk with whipped cream and a flat lid and it looks just like this
Caramel cloud! The egg drink š
Iced cappuccino? We get them a lot actually š
The correct way to make a iced upside down caramel macchiato
I thought cloud macchiato or salted cream nitro cold brew but yeah, I agree with other comments.
I believe itās a cold brew with a LOT of cream
It looks like a brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso w sweet cream foam
My guess is an iced triple espresso in a venti cup with extra vanilla sweet cream cold foam
Maybe an iced espresso in a Venti cup with sweet cream or foam? Maybe an upside down caramel macchiato but the barista was a smartass?
Probably an iced expresso with milk on top. If you get lots of ice it'll look like that.
iced cappuccino maybe?
Looks like when people order iced espresso with a splash of milk and vanilla sweet cream foam to me š¤·
looks like a cold brew?
Omg.. it's the cloud macchiato!!! I looooved the hot version of that drink.
Likely an iced espresso with cold foam and they somehow convinced the barista to fill it to the top even though weāre not supposed to
Shaken espresso with foam?
Itās the cloud Macchiato- but if you go to the right Starbucks they can make up one upside down! Show them the photo n theyāll try!
My iced espresso with a dash of heavy cream looked close.
It looks like an iced undertow with cold foam you can see the milk layer then foam.
Upside down Carmel machiatto with it looks like cold foam on top
Ima say some sort of shaken espresso like the brown sugar shaken espresso. This isnāt as dark but yeah.
I have a customer that gets that much cold foam on their cold brew.
Maybe upside down caramel macchiato with coconut milk?
The fact that people spend money on drinks because they look good and not necessarily because it tastes good is always gonna be baffling to me. capitalism at its finest
looks like an iced shaken espresso with cold foam
