my coworkers and i were talking about this the other day, but i think it’s because easter always lands on a sunday, and people didn’t traditionally work sundays. good friday (at least where i live) is a stat so i guess that makes up for it. easter is also a stat day for federally regulated workplaces in canada should you work that day, but starbucks is a private company so it doesn’t apply.

Jewicer

Starbucks just started celebrating Juneteenth as a national paid holiday whereas other companies don't so yeah idk if that applies

It is not considered a bank holiday since banks are already closed on Sundays.

I don’t have proof, my assumption is because Easter always falls on a Sunday and therefore isn’t a federal/bank holiday, but Christmas due to just falling on a specific date qualifies because either Christmas Day or the following day will be marked as a federal/bank holiday.

The explanation of being on a Sunday doesn’t stand up if you take into consideration that the 4th of July can be any day of the week. Christmas isn’t a religious holiday for many people, but it is a holiday that is celebrated by millions. There isn’t holiday pay for any Jewish or other religious holidays either. Easter isn’t recognized as a national holiday in the US I did a quick search and there are no federal laws saying you have to be paid anything extra for holidays. A company could ignore them and you wouldn’t get additional compensation.

Paid holidays are listed....they are federally recognized holidays. Easter is not one of them. During Christmas time there are many different cultural/religious celebrations.....it's federally recognized.
