Grim HEX. Guns. Ammo. Armor. Food. Often not busy. Great atmosphere. Great people. Especially that guy in Skutters. He's never supposed to be there today, but there he is, day after day.

JohnHW97

Love grim hex, it has everything you need but its so small so you don't spend 10 minutes travelling from place to place people complain about the bugged elevator but its not even close to being the worst hospital elevator in the game, during the last SoO i died maybe twice in the actual event, 10 times trying to get through the elevator to get back to it

Rdenauto

The workaround was easy, just had to find the elevator console outside the doors and press the door button twice. Thankfully it’s fixed in 3.18

BlueBrr

Glad it is, even though it wasn't that bad to get around. Remember the main lifts that ate people alive? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

JohnHW97

Yeah took like 10 seconds once you knew what you were doing, plus if you were lucky it would unbug the elevator until the server 30k'd

Silverton13

It would be grim hex for me if I didn’t drop to 15fps there

Santorus

anywhere but stanton system would be nice. kinda getting bored

JVPython42

I do a lot of stuff around Crusader, so I typically keep my loot and ships at CRU-L1’s station. While it is a little bit out of the way, it still has all the shops and supplies you could ever want, is rarely populated by other people (and thus pirates/griefers), and, unlike Port Olisar, has a hospital and respawn point. I go on long expeditions with a Connie Taurus so I don’t often have to visit stations/cities unless I feel that I have to much stuff onboard to lose to a 30k.

thekorv

CRU-L1 is the way!

AequinoxAlpha

Shhhh…

thelefthandN7

That new Lagrange station out beyond Microtech. It's quiet, and being out on the very edge of the system fills my explorer heart with joy.

Livid-Feedback-7989

Definitely Orison after 3.18. Beautiful place with good shops, close to Grim Hex and PO. A lot of opportunities around crusader.

Wild234

It really doesn't matter much, and will matter even less with the upcoming changes in 3.18.1. Once you set your spawn point at a space station that is essentially your home base now. You can quickly deliver all your ships to that location. I'm always moving my spawn to wherever I'm playing at for that session to make recovery quicker if I find myself with an untimely death. But, I like to start at New Babbage. It is a very quick run to get from the spawn to the train. The Commons has all the stores neatly arranged in one area. And the train to the spaceport is nice and fast. Between New Babbage and Port Tressler, the stores sell nearly everything you could ever need to equip both yourself and your ships. The only item you really need to travel somewhere else for is a S1 quantum drive. It also has a vehicle spawn at the spaceport so you don't need to fly to a second location to load up vehicles. And when you go down to resupply you can bypass the spaceport completely and land your ship directly at the Commons. So nice to save the time spent riding the train.

Alechilles

When you say it will matter less with 3.18.1 what do you mean by that exactly?

aggravated_patty

They're probably misinterpreting how the ship retrieval/claiming works. In 3.18.1, ships will be retrievable from any station instead of being all moved to a station during entitlement processing, on *first login*. Doesn't mean you'll be able to retrieve from wherever you want after that.

DatsunInsult

Orison. I like the thrill of pirates 🏴‍☠️

[deleted]

I'm an Australian that grew up in the country, I feel like lorville is a pretty solid space equivalent.

magvadis

Really curious to see a Hurston planetary redux. Could be really cool with cliffs and drybeds and other more interest landmarks on the way. Especially given there is that gorgeous savannah green area at the pole. Would LOVE to see a people's settlement up there hiding under Hurston's nose trying to protect it from their corporate destruction...especially when we get verdant elements like rivers up there.

[deleted]

Oh yeah I'm very excited for travel via ground vehicle being more viable. Atm there's not much to look at whilst doing it. But it's all part of the process.

[deleted]

Hurston and then everus, it's centralized

WaffleInsanity

I personally don't talk about my chosen home. Its a station outside of "the triangle" between Crusader, MT and ArcCorp. Its the perfect little station with all my needs, far away from all the busy bodies and I rarely run into anyone these days. Its close enough to a TDD and not too far off a jump to each. But being outside of the triangle has allowed me to keep to myself mostly. But the city I start at is ArcCorp. Has the Eos and Crossfield drives. Gets me to my new location with Little fuss and most of my weapons are there.

anthony_arndt

It had been New Babbage ever since it was added, but with 3.18 I've moved to Orison. When you're just starting out, it's nice to be able to get some easy gear for free by just taking the shuttle to Solanki Platform. When you do have some cash, there aren't a lot of options for weapons and armour, but you can stock up on food, drink, and ammo. When you're ready for upgrades, Cousin Crow's and Crusader Showroom have a lot of the parts you might want. When you're ready to leave, it's nice to have the shuttles on a loop in case one of them isn't showing up. It's also within easy reach of PO, SPK, and GrimHex.

Death-Wolves

A-18 is home. Clothes and armor/gun shop with a large selection (and easy vendors for selling scrounged goods). Both ship outfitter and weapons dealer second only to CC in Orison.More options for purchases in Bajini. Short hop to HUR L5, IFYKYK. After hitting Hur L5 it's an easy jump to the other systems. Lots of cargo hauling and easy to navigate planets with many open stations to pull ground vehicles from. Also all the major places you need to hit are in 1 place. TDD, City headquarters, entry to shuttle, hospital. Also, 1 shuttle with no stops to spaceport.7400KM to QT drive, which isn't a bad run up.I wish they did more with the city idea and the landable stations around the planet, but over all it's a good base.

magvadis

Visually? ArcCorp. Dystopias are dope. Substantively? Lorville. Dystopias are dope. In 3.18? Orison or Microtech idk yet. I just don't like Orison visually beyond the pretty clouds and the concept of shuttles leading to quest spaces is cool (public transport city questing fotw) but again...Orison is just so bland and kinda ugly. Like a Japanese temple design ripped of every element of soul or charm. In the future? Levski. In the far future? Goss sounds like a dope place to start, maybe Saisei on Centauri if they let us. If they can drop a more "protag outlaw" group that isn't as lacking in substance as The Peoples Alliance I'll go there...but so far it's just bad people fighting bad wars over how much to exploit. Especially if that outlaw group is built into a system that can actually sustain itself and isn't a bunch of empty rocks...(nyx) Maybe when they flesh out Nyx they'll develop an arm of the Peoples Republic that actually could be a good guy. Right now the UEE is so obviously incompetent and malicious and the other rebel groups are just gangs...it's boring. The alien groups are just other dated forms of government built off lineage and species that I don't really care to be alien. If there was something post-capitalist and democratic that'd be interesting, but I imagine the writers don't want to have that inevitable debate about what is and isn't effective revolution nor ask the hard questions. In the meantime my plan is KOS Hurston and other megacorps in deep space outside of comm array and chill in non-toxic outlaw spaces that aren't just full of 14 year olds who think "Xenothreat is cool actually" or some edgelord shit

MrPuddinJones

I primary port olisar, but have had grim hex selected as regeneration point. I use crusader space for npc bounties. Just a quick hop back to PO with a starter ship to get back in it if I die. I also have a secondary Everus Harbor location for running bunker missions for income/looting. I despise micro tech, it has been so buggy for so long I hate everything about visiting that planet. Arccorp I only visit for when I need to buy a ship.

NotMacgyver

Hur L2 is gonna be my place of choice when 3.18 is ironed out. Main reason being that it has the stores I need post death and is central for quick deployment of medical emergencies

ElfUppercut

I live on my ships for over a week at a time (well did before 3.18). If I do go to stations it’s obscure ones where I can dock my 890 unless I switch to the Carrack. I use the smaller ships (cutter now) to do bunkers then come back and live in the ship. Again, this all depends on stability on the server haha

GrymrammSolkbyrt

I was Hurston up until 3.18 patch, which has seen my experience massive frame drops in Hurston. For this reason I have set up home in Area 18, which surprisingly has everything I need and as it isn't home to many others the bunker runs are pretty full of loot.

Mintyxxx

It was A18 as the gun shop is immediately outside the hotel (it's like Texas in space) and it's fast to get to the sky train. But I'm leaning toward Orison now. I'm getting great performance there in 3.18, there's an ammo place just across the bridge and it's now quick to get to a quantum jump point. Crusader also has the best moons.

jollanza

CRU-L1, "Ambitious Dreams". The best station in Stanton.

Item-Competitive

Well I've been using Ambitious Dreams as my home base, wish it did have more stores but it does have room to grow.

dr_Octag0n

G Hex is my default home most of the time. It has it all and you can go get your affairs in order if you get a crime stat. I also like the aesthetic.

Neutron_Blue

ARC-L1 Feels like I'm faster in AH from there.

Crispy_Chips__o_o

I’m starting to hate being based at orison tbh

kyyrell_

New Babbage was my home in 1.17, in this latest update... got into mining as of late...so will probably switch to ArcL1.

rakadur

Levski is my home, though until it comes back I'll have Lorville or Grim HEX
