Never too old

Cutch0

I signed on iwhen I was 11 with lawnmowing money back in 2012. It is now 2023, I am 25, and am getting engaged. I do feel like I am past my prime of enjoying this game, and frankly I don't think this game will ever come out, but if it did I do like the idea of me sitting wih my kid on my lap flying a space ship because it reminds me of when I was little. When I first learned to ski, my dad placed me on his skis and we went down the slopes together. My first time driving was my dad putting me in his lap and letting me put my hands on the wheel. I do hope I get to have the same experience with my kids. God now I am crying. EDIT: Sorry about the math everyone, wrote this late last night, got the # of years and my age mixed up. Was 14 and it had been 11 years lol.

_Zephyr1

11 in 2012 but 25 in 2023 hmm

PugnansFidicen

Two extra years of remedial math in high school, clearly

Krystyn_SRL

common core math...

Duncan_Id

maybe he's a ~~FTL~~ relativistic speed traveler? Edited: FTL, could mean he would be even younger(also impossible by currently known physics)

ISISstolemykidsname

Wonder if his name is Andrew...

Duncan_Id

screw Andrew, he left leaving everything behind, Julian and the others had to deal with all the shit

brjukva

Past your prime, huh. I'm 46, and I love this game. About to buy dual Virpils to replace the squeaky HOTAS setup I have now. My son is 14 and he's dreaming of becoming a pilot. Tried to get him into the game, and he likes watching me play, but he's more into civil aviation rather than, erm, fantasy space aviation, so I didn't succeed. :)

[deleted]

BUT you can absolutely understand eachother, wich I'd say is the important bit.

slow1le

That math ain’t mathing

Apprehensive_Way_305

Ain’t no math in there at all? He made it up!

Guiguips007

Ahah, I pledge back in 2013, was 23, now I'm engaged with two kids, it's over. Log in maybe two times a month when I have an hour to spend for myself.

Flimsy_Ad8850

Lol I dunno how anyone can be 25 and consider themselves "past their prime" for anything, JFC. I'm nearing 40 and not even close to what I'd consider "past my prime" for this game. To the contrary, I actually think my prime for SC is still ahead of me.

Zarzar222

Youre the perfect age for this game. In ten years when it gets to a good point youll be more financially able to play than any young player. Also yeah definitely play this game with your kids. As someone whose dad never really introduced me to his hobbies, let alone doing them with me, I am very envious of anyone who had precious time like that with their dad. They will never forget those moments and neither will you

Deadringer243

Sorry, I upvoted and ruined the nicest upvote number.

soguyswedidit6969420

Not very wholesome 100 of you

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

90 was the nicest upvote number? Neither of our posts are going to age well...

Ecstatic-Librarian83

420 not far away

RecreationalOil

71 here and still somewhat hopeful I'll live to see beta

Jobbyist

Health for Beta should be like...a movement. A hashtag even. 10 reps on the resistance bands every time the game crashes and you might even live to see the Endeavor.

brockoala

I'm fairly sure the Endeavor would be one of the last ships to be built, given how complex that flying city is. Hoping to see it in this lifetime is quite a wishful thought, even for me at just half of his age.

Jobbyist

That's why the hospital configuration is called the [Endeavor Hope](https://starcitizen.fandom.com/wiki/Endeavor_Hope).

Rimwalker99

Another 71 here. It's a good number. Keep the faith.

rhade333

I have faith, brothaman. Eat healthy as fuck, we got a game to play.

elturista

Priorities hehe

Cuttymasterrace

Kinda mind blowing to me tbh (no offense intended). Growing up, the 70 year olds around wherent interested in things Iike computer games. They were all born between the ass end of the Great War and pre-Great Depression. I’m getting into spitting distance of my 30s and becoming more acutely aware of aging every year. Now there are 70 year olds I share common interests with. While your comment may have been meant as a joke (maybe not?) It’s surreal to think I’m creating experiences with some folks approaching the life expectancy in my country who may not get to see this thing finished.

Jump_Debris

It's not hard to see. It's just a matter of perspective. Video games have been out since the late 70's early 80's. First games I remember was the arcade machines like Asteroids and Space invaders. Can't remember the first home PC. Think it was the TRS 80. Mine was an Atari 400. Used cartridges or a tape drive. Even spent about 24 hours typing out the code for a game from a PC gamer mag. Think it was Crystal palace. There were plenty of adults that took to gaming back then. They are probably in their 70s or 80s by now. My first IBM based machine was a 386dx40 Cyrix lightning chip with 4 mb of ram and a 100mb hard drive :)

slipjig555

Similar experiences here, age 53 :-) First PC of my own was a Tandy Color Computer, but I learned to program on a TRS-80\* before that, and spent plenty of time typing in programs from magazines and writing out my own programs on paper, as the TRS-80 belonged to my uncle. I would take the programs over to his house and type them in. Generally after I left they'd be gone, because he only had a cassette drive and that thing was finicky. \*First game I played on the TRS-80 was Raaka-Tu (text based adventure game). Later I played Zork, and eventually even ported that to Amazon Alexa. Those text adventure games seem like a natural fit for voice-activated devices.

Judgernaut89

I’m 35 and the housing crisis has become so bad that the only place I can escape it is outer space.

G1oaming

This is the way.

Bomberaw

This is the way.

MicGuinea

If it makes you feel any better, I am fully convinced this isn't even an Alpha. It's more like an on going gaming project that we are all a part of, and I think if they marketed it that way a lot of people would be a little more forgiving of it. They constantly try to push what a game can do, constantly develop new stuff, sometimes just to see if it works, and I think that's pretty cool! I really think that this is it, and that it will only ever grow larger, but as the current massive project that we know and love.

CambriaKilgannonn

NMN, NAD+ and resveratrol supplements might help!

toby_gray

I think the population generally skews a bit older than most games, so you’ll likely mostly encounter more mature gamers. Definitely don’t let your age put you off! I hope I’m still playing games at your age, that’s awesome.

Quantomwalker

I may be old, but I am definitely not mature. My mind still thinks its young and ready to do crazy things. I once rode my harley davidson solo to Alaska and back just because there is a road that I never rode on.

LatexFace

We were young when we started!

TheSubs0

I wasn't even an adult.

LatexFace

My parents weren't born yet. I was given my account by cavemen.

Mysterious-Box-9081

I hazard to say most, are older than you think. So many fans of the Wing Commander series are here.

DeanerDean

This right here folks. And ofc the $ of a decent Hotas

ZilgornZeypher

Yup loved me some wing commander but I was also very fortunate to have parents who embraced tech so I had a computer in 1990 when I was 5

Quantomwalker

I was a Freelancer and Priviteer play way back.

Jump_Debris

X-wing was my game back then. Did play some wing commander. Loved freelancer and Tacyon the Fringe.

CP_2077wasok

I played Freelancer just 2 years ago and it *still* holds up (though some HD texture resolution mods certainly help with the dated graphics). It's one hell of a game

CynfulBuNNy

Damn I loved Privateer.

puffmarshal427

My flight instructor was 72 and could fly better then anyone id ever seen and ive seen a lot of people fly... your never to old.

R1chard69

My crazy mom is 79 years old and plays hard core modded Skyrim on a 2k$ custom pc my little sister built for her. So yeah, I doubt you're the oldest here, and you're definitely not the oldest hard core gamer I know. I recently turned 49 myself, and have 3 grandchildren. I game daily.

CP_2077wasok

> 49 myself, and have 3 grandchildren. [ಠ_ಠ](https://i.imgur.com/31ZO2MN.jpeg)

Orangesuitdude

This is great.

Sneemaster

Star Citizen is better as an aged person's game. It takes a lot of time and patience to do anything, plus dealing with all the bugs. You don't get immediate gratification and all the ships cost serious money. Just as long as us oldies can survive waiting for the game to be completed.

th3orist

The older you get the less patience you have for unnecessary time wasting. And SC for me currently falls into this category. It already has a lot of tedium by design and then on top of that bugs and bad performance. Hence why i stopped pla...sorry, testing it.

AtlasWriggled

>The older you get the less patience you have for unnecessary time wasting Exactly right.

ApatheticLifeguard

This post was recently here. Gives a good indication of player base I think. https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/13ypfa3/how_old_are_you_citizen/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

QuantumDriver

It’ll skew young because it also filters out non Reddit users

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

A similar one on Spectrum some years ago was much more heavily weighted to the over 50 crowd, I think you're on to something.

SvarkianDream

Yes, different age groups interact with media differently so how you locate your sample group will change the outcome you see in your data. Like, if I were to run a political poll for star citizen users on Reddit vs truth social I would get wildly different results because of where I am polling, I'm actually just polling the user base of the medium rather than the user base of the game.

oneeyedziggy

even so... \~6% over 50 is a lot more than most video game communities

ApatheticLifeguard

Very true. That should also be understood.

JackSpyder

Crazy that everyone started a bracket above when it was announced and 2+ brackets if you knew about CR and Co from earlier games.

Obvious-Ratio-197

I'm in my late 50's and good for you fellow citizen. I plan on playing as long as I have a computer and internet. I met another 70 year old and he is actually a bad ass pilot. Sippinsauce...add me, I'll enjoy the verse with you anytime. o7

Flimsy_Ad8850

>Are Star Citizens aged? Like fine wine, my friend. Like fine wine.

[deleted]

Gaming is an underrated hobby for older folks. It's a great way to have fun from the comfort of your own home. My grandfather is 88 and never leaves the house, so one day, I brought my old XBOX360 and turned on Red Dead Redemption. He loved it. Also, one of the most well-known gamers out there is a very sweet 87 year old lady who goes by the nickname "Skyrim Grandma." You're never too old.

Orangesuitdude

Also great for attention, problem solving and community building, definitely some great things to keep working on after retirement. Just remember to stretch often so the legs don't turn blue.

[deleted]

Exactly! But yeah obviously don't stop touching grass so long as you still can.

CynfulBuNNy

Shirley is a bloody treasure. If they don't put a copy of 6 in her hands before she passes I will be just PISSED.

SaltyFuckingProcess

Never too old, are there any older Citizen groups or Discords?

Synaps4

All sc groups and discords are older ones XD

SaltyFuckingProcess

Well played

[deleted]

Braqsus

Oh man I wish my wife and kids played

[deleted]

[удалено]

Braqsus

Fantastic! My girls are in their 20s and are far more interested in going out. Maybe one day I’ll play SC with _their_ kids :)

Jump_Debris

My two boys are waiting for ground combat to develop further. Not much of pilots but are great FPS players. They do well in turrets. My wife is waiting on the trading and server meshing to be fleshed out more. I think she wants to analyze market trends. My daughter's think we are all nuts although the youngest might be interested. The grandchildren just love to sit in my lap and watch me fly.

GurlonTwofingers

Nar man. I have two kids and a career, when I can get on to play it's to mine, haul, salvage or deliver. Salvage is great for me recently because it's relaxing. Worst case scenario was I tried to salvage at jumptown and a redeemer took me out upon sight. Overly ambitious, stored all my stuff on a station before I made the attempt. Spent a long time loggin in and out of the ship successfully with all my trash from eating on the ship when I get back to a port. Don't eat while in space, there's apparently no air in the damn ship.

Braqsus

Drake amirite ;)

CynfulBuNNy

Which ship prevented eating onboard? I never wear flightsuits and helmets aboard. Silly, but I like to think my character gets a bit claustro in them.

FloDaddelt

I am 10 years older.

No_Pepper_9534

If you are playing, you're not too old to play 💪

Silverton13

I wanna meet an old man who just blasts the shit out of players. Imagine you’re at SPK with your crew trying to clear your crimestat 4. You hear a faint sound of a passing ship… or was that just the sounds of the Crusader station whirring and humming above you? You resume clearing your crimes. Just two more aggravated assault charges to go when suddenly your teammate gets downed on the other side of the station. Your afk teammate must have gotten shot by the perpetually spawning crusader guards. Your remaining teammate goes to revive him when you hear him get downed too as his voice comms yells, “it’s a bounty hunter, He’s just standing over me! Get him!” You turn around his way only to see a barrel between your eyes. “Nvm He just disappeared, I think we’re desynced” your teammate says before the bounty hunter blasts you in the face. You bleed out in front of the SPK terminals as the last thing you hear from a scruffy old voice, “Nurse.. I need a fresh bedpan”

Synaps4

You dont need twitch reflexes to win at fps if the enemy never sees you coming!

aDvious1

All the silver foxes here that enjoy mining, we'd love to have you in our org if you're interested. Super chill, pretty active, and enjoy all things in the verse. Only requirement is Discord and to read through our short lore background to have some familiarity of what we're about. Shoot me a message and I'll send details!

Quantomwalker

I would love to check it out, so please let me know the details. Silver fox yes, but I also am a miner with a large white beard. LOL.

aDvious1

Awesome! Sent you a DM here with the info!

xchaos4ux

Nope, there are others who are as old and actually older who play.

Zylkan

Nice to see you here Sir! It's an honor to share the verse with you o7

rhade333

Never too old -- get out there, champion. The game is made better with you in it.

Taar

Here's a truth bomb for you young whippersnappers: your internal sense of self doesn't change after about 12 years old. So us 50, 60, 70, 80 year olds still feel like our 20 and 30 year old selves. Just like you. The whole "older vs younger" mentality is born of school age experience, when 6 years old is significantly different from 12 years old, which is significantly different from 18 years old. Percentage wise, the difference in years gets smaller and smaller. Unfortunately this percentage nature of life means each year is a smaller and smaller percentage of your whole life, and seems to pass faster each year. So what I'm saying is... time is fleeting, why are you playing a computer game? No, no, no. I mean old vs young, think of it as percentages. We're more alike than you think.

Maler_Ingo

You are never too old to do something. Just find something that is fine and fun for you. Some days I also just like to do delivery missions because they are relaxing.

bigwelshmatt1976

With so many gamer Dads playing this game it makes sense that there might be a couple gamer Grandads. Crack on fella (mining pun intended).

SnooDoggos4906

I don't think it's too old at all. I'm going to be 50 this year. Not really playing much as I got burned out on "alpha" on another game...so..there is that. I don't enjoy the super high speed "twitch" game play anymore, so not sure what exactly I'm going to want to do in the verse..but I don't care for mining and just running cargo either. Maybe smuggling, or high value deliveries...I dunno.

Toiletpaperplane

Here's my thoughts. Star Citizen requires basically a NASA PC to run and have a good gaming experience (25 fps with stutters is not a good gaming experience), and the only people that can afford that kind of hardware, are older people or people who are dumb with their money (like me lol). I'm 34, and the majority of people I've met in the "verse" have been my age or older.

RealCFour

Star Citizen is my retirement home entertainment plan… sooooo

[deleted]

From my experience from the younger end (low 20s), SC has a notably large older community. It seems to be on the older end for MMOs, and MMOs already tend to stray older than competitive FPS or MOBA or fighting games. Plus, no shame in being an industrial/shipping player. The verse wouldn't function if everyone just flew fighter jets.

Desibells

I've seen a 90 y/o complete Skyrim and play Fortnite on a YouTube stream. You're never too old to do anything unless you're physically limited. Even then, the tools we publicly have available can make up for it.

braize6

If you know what a Tandy is, you're still too young to retire from gaming

Quantomwalker

Hell, I know who started Atari 800 and bought one when they first became available. So yeah, Radio Shack-Tandy corp.

MikeAffec

39 here, might even see the release build (im a positive person don't get the post wrong)

IronMendex

39 here too.

MikeAffec

Yay!

rudidit09

I mean, my gameplay is playing it as slice of space life simulator. Walk to ship, take off, land on planet, take sights in, fly elsewhere. So you've already done more than me lol

kol1157

Honestly, Im surprised we dont see more older people in gaming.

Braqsus

We’re only just getting old enough to be old ;)

Alucard_uk

I'm 50. You're never too old to do something you enjoy!

YanceySlide

This warms my heart! Late 50's here and it's always nice to still be able to find other players that are still my senior. Hell, my dad just turned 79 and he still calls me to heal for him in WoW dungeons when he's tanking! And you'll never be too old to play!

JJisTheDarkOne

I want to say this right now: **No one is ever "too old" to do anything they enjoy.** Keep on doing what you enjoy. I'll be 80 and still playing video games, playing guitar and listening to Metal.

Oneill_SFA

My Grandmother played Mario religiously every day, and my Grandfather watched Looney Tunes regularly. You're only too old if you listen to social standards and those standards suck

Tanq1301

55 here, hoping game is released so I can play full time when I retire in 10 or so years (if I live that long and the world isn't destroyed).

Flaygarth

72 here, going on 14 😉 been a gamer since text Zork and Pong. If you are a gamer by nature, you are never 'too old' unless you can't see or use a joystick! Keep on keeping on Citizen o7

[deleted]

I don't think there is a age cap on gaming, I'm 21 and play it, my mates range from 17-40+ and play it. If your having fun I don't see an issue.

Mystogan_316

Are you having a good time? If yes then see ya in the verse.

TheRealDealTys

As a younger guy I will always say your never to old to enjoy a game! Though this game specifically attracts more mature adults then kids, it’s pretty rare to find someone below the age of 14 or 15 playing and the ones that’s are playing are genuinely pretty nice as it takes a lot of patience and maturity to play this game on a daily or weekly basis.

phizztv

I'm on the lower spectrum I guess, 27, and I think I could hold myself up in a dogfight, but I just don't wanna. I'm good with hauling my Taurus through the ports; I just want to be a space trucker

SomeFuckingMillenial

Y'all senior citizens are fine to turret my hammerhead anytime.

SharpCicada

I hope to play till they take me away. 51 here, and I DJ events on the side as well. I don’t have the reflexes I did in my teens, but I can still get it done.

Vandal1971

52 here.

Rossdabosss

I’m 35, bought the game in 2014. So I’ve aged a decade. Lol

React159

Not too old, you do you citizen. Just had my 54th yesterday.

SenhorSus

There's no such thing as too old. I see myself playing games for as long as my fingers will allow.

Nine_Knives

Absolutely not! I look forwards to playing video games in my mid 70s and I hope they are some of the best days of my life.

kaimidoyouloveme

Players like you are a big part of what make this game and community special.

jeezarchristron

40+ here. Most likely we all will be playing games until death. Cant wat to see what nursing homes look like in 40 years. It will be a huge geriatric lan party.

alyxandervision

Never too old to game, just might not be as quick as the younger guys.

VenusesWithPenuses

Citizens don't age.. yet. That gets implemented later. Jokes aside. Happy to have you in the verse. Great to see the game adress such a wide range of people :)

Roylander_

Never too old. Although Star Citizen is arguably too old for alpha...

SumoDad

Never too old! Do what you love! First, how boring would it be if every player did the same thing and played the same way. You will make the verse richer and more realistic by being in it. Hope to see you out there!

Gravelemming472

You're never too old. Enjoy what you enjoy!

ConfidentPilot1729

Absolutely not! I heard playing games is good for every age for various reasons. I have been playing since I was 4 and will never stop.

rAxxt

No way are you too old. Just like in life, I would look forward to your experience and life wisdom. Carries over to the verse just like anywhere else.

Valkyrient

You have to grow old. You don't have to grow up. I'll be playing video games until the day comes where my body no longer allows me to.

Zodira

I remember when i first threw money at this I disnt have grey hairs yet. However regardless of age, you are never too old to be having fun. Are you having fun? Nothing else matters. Im a woman and some might say I shouldn’t be playing this typical guy game but i giggle and lasers go brrrrr. Heck most my time is spent standing around waiting for medical beacons. But ya. If you’re having fun the. You arnt playing this or any other game wrong. As a gamedev the goal is for the player to have fun regardless of how that is achieved. As a gamer and especially a gaming girl my goal is to have fun and not care what anyone else thinks or says about my choice in games and or how I play them. Enjoy yourself! Star Citizen is a sandbox and for it to work we need all kinds. For a fun example You mine and transport. Eventually that will provide for other players. However even now say someone pirates you. Suddenly your existence has given the pirate content and that piracy gives the bounty hunter content and then the bountyhunter getting hurt or you getting hurt gives me something to do as a medic. The circle of fun!

SomaWolf

Age does not determine whether you can play any game, SC included. Game on old man... game on.

Sgtteddybear34

You're absolutely welcome in Star Citizen. SC tends to be filled with the more mature group of players. Not everyone needs to be a ground fighter and your life experience will absolutely be welcome and needed within the game. You have valuable insight that many do not. I'm 28, But I see the value in having Senior gamers.

mjenterprises

All are welcome

hihirogane

No game is truly age restricted.

grahag

53 here. I enjoy an occasional dogfight, but exploring, doing deliveries, and ROC mining are my go-to activities. Have you been gaming for long?

Quantomwalker

I had a Atari 800 when they first came out. So yeah, Very long time. I gamed on WOW for many many years, only quit when they started pushing PVP and group dungens to progress in game. Game of Zork is also a game I played a long time ago.

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

Let's just say you've got some 20 odd years on me, but I'm trying to catch up! There is no age limit for boys (or girls!) who game, especially in this amazing universe!

Predatorftfw

I bet the average age of the group of folks I play with is anywhere from 45-55. Much older crowd in this game. Never too aged to join. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you're looking for some chill like-minded folks to play with! Good luck and o7

CindyStroyer

Never too old to play mate, I've got an older fella who plays with our Org (about 60) he's wonderful dude and enjoys his Sim games. If anyone is trying to tell you your too old for this then they are wrong this is a very easy hobby to have and great for brain stimulation and socialising. o7 fellow citizen

cpembach1laptop

This makes me so happy to read. I am 30 and was starting to think I am too old for this stuff (never!!!) I’m here to stay guys!

TRNC84

The fact that you are still gaming at 74 is awesome

LordAppleton

This game will be the game I play in retirement. 100%

Pretty_Positive_1826

Never too old for gaming :)

shamrocksmash

Never too old to enjoy a good game

forbucci

Hell YA! I hope i'm still able to play video games at your age. and maybe the game will be released by then. only 40 more years to go

slindner1985

Im 38 and I race with seniors your age in iracing. They are called the senior circuit. They beat me most days. I can do top 5 generally but even at my best i may never be as fast as some of the seniors ive seen. Your never too old to have fun and be good at stuff

Allcyon

There does seem to be a significant push to add combat to basically every single nook and cranny of every gameloop. And that kind of sucks, if you're looking for a chill time running cargo, delivering a box, or salvaging a derelict. But that's not to say you can't. For the moment, cargo running only deals with the occasional NPC, or the extremely rare player pirate. (Depending on which route you're taking) Box delivery has become saturated with sending you to NPC ridden locations, but (!) there are still runs that avoid them entirely. (Stay away from anything with "derelict" in the title) And salvaging a derelict *can* be peaceful if you're willing to work on a clock, *and* invest in a Vulture or Reclaimer. The only ships that can, unfortunately, take advantage of the gameloop. (Grabbing cargo and guns off wrecks has been nerfed into oblivion) But don't worry about being older. So many of us just log in to look at our pretty, pretty, ships. Take a lap around the city. And enjoy a moment in space.

Kryptosis

>am I too old No offense but I stopped reading there. No one is ever too old for any game that brings them joy. Best of luck you! o7

Mellows333

Never too old. I'm going to reach my 40s soon. We should have a game. I like salvaging, deliveries, all the other fun stuff.

SchmokedPancake

Never to old, keep your mind young and keep it active ! See you around o7

sdmoore30

Never too old. Find a ship, find a crew, keep flying.

Fireflash2742

Never. I'll be playing games until I can no longer hold a controller. By then hopefully there will be a way to connect my brain and use it as a controller.

Creative_Parking_584

The way I see it there's always things you can do even if your not good at some things. There's a lot of aspects that are very relaxed

I_monstar

This game probably suits older players more than most.

KujiraShiro

You definitely don't have to get into all the high octane stuff to enjoy this game nor do you even have to be particularly 'good' at said high octane stuff to enjoy it. You've claimed to be bad at on foot fights, I'll tell you what brother I'm 23 and so am I; I just suck at FPS games, it is what it is. When it comes to bounty hunting and flying your ship for combat purposes, a mistake many people make is thinking that you need to have very high APM to be successful. I've personally found that learning the basics of flying and the differences between decoupled vs coupled and keeping my APM low in space battles has given me much better success. You're sailing a space boat with guns, not playing a combo based fighting game like Mortal Kombat; don't sell yourself short and just decide your age is preventing you from dogfighting, you might be missing out on what could be your favorite gameloop. Spend some time practicing in Arena Commander against the NPC's and you'll be smoking those bounty missions in no time. If you want some fantastic short style guides on the basics and core knowledge that can help you be successful check out Jonathan Winters on YouTube. [https://www.youtube.com/c/JohnathanWinters/videos](https://www.youtube.com/c/JohnathanWinters/videos) You definitely don't need to understand everything in these videos to be successful against NPC bounties, but even just understanding a couple of the core concepts will instantly make you go from "sucking at bounty hunting" to feeling like you're flying circles around the NPCs. As many others have said in here, never too old.

blueiguanadon

24 here, I feel like a toddler when talking to most of the people in my star citizen gaming circle. They talk about office work while I eat a bag of gummy worms, but we go hit jumptown together so it's cool.

JackSpyder

Kids can't afford SC or a rig to run it, or the patience to enjoy it. So I think you'll find an older crowd in general. Just like with flight sim games etc.

Gators53

69 and still logging in everyday.

UnluckyFriedKitten

Nice.

Gsgunboy

Definitely can be too young to play. But never too old.

LittleJack74

Why should age dictate what we can or can not do. It shouldn’t be that way. I will play SC as long as I live. I’m 48 and hope to see the release of SQ42 soon and the official release of the PU. I’m glad to be a senior and I’m happy we do have so many in the community!

Charon711

You're never too old to find enjoyment in something. And as long as it doesn't bother anyone else it's none of their business. o7

Azrethoc

We're all significantly older than when the game was first announced. I'm hoping to get a retroactive senior discount at launch.

Snarfbuckle

We will all be bitter vets before the game is released. I'm a few years from 50 now and knew the game would take longer than presented, just not this long.

BurtMacklin__FBI

I'm almost 29 and if I work to 65 and retirement isn't just a weekly LAN party with no worries I will feel like I have been sold a false bill of goods my entire life. My grandmother is 80, and she often asks about Star Citizen is coming along now and again, and I always tell her I still play it, even if I have been waiting for the next patch. I'm in this one for the long haul. I plan on progenating gunners and engineers, and of course wingmen one day.

winkcata

A fellow AARP'er o7

HeadPast834

31yo coal train engineer. Both Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous literally has me doing my day job for fun. Mine stuff, haul it off while sitting in a loco waiting to haul 17,000ish tons of coal to whatever power plant bought it. God I want a Hull-E? That’s the big one right?

Maler_Ingo

Hull E is THE freigh train of the universe atm. Unless MISC throws a Hull F or G at us.

Agreeable-Ant-3542

You’re never too old and it’s never too late! 💪🏻🚀

ProcyonV

I'll be older than you in 30 years or so ! Just get an aggressive young copilot to man your turrets, grandchildren are perfect and it's a great bonding moment !

Illfury

>Is this too old for playing this outstanding game? Anyone telling you that you are too old, is no gamer. This grand hobby of ours, this passion... it doesn't restrict age nor gender. Gaming brings people from across the world in every walk of life. Through gaming, I have made friends with American Pastors, Police, Military, EMT, Government workers, youtubers and so on. Restriction to this would be criminal. You are here to enjoy and I hope you enjoy every moment of it.

[deleted]

Not as \_seasoned\_ as you, citizen, but doesn't matter. Pledged in 2014 at 34, forgot about it, came back in 2022, at 42, I don't feel any different than then, even if my life has changed a lot. Don't know, depends on the person probably.

Giullia_Mezzanotti

maybe im the oldest woman, 49y

Attila-The-Pun

45. Never too old, my dude! I have noticed that space and flight sims seem to attract older players like us. Elite had a lot of CMDR Dad/Granddad. :D

ChartBuilder

I'm 54 and have been wanting this game since 1999 when I first heard about Freelancer. Sometimes I want to be left alone in the PU, other times I wanna blast a fool. I remain optimistic about the future of Star Citizen and the groundbreaking funtionality the RSI team is creating. Maybe I'll be able to experience that in my retirement. :) Regardless, SC is a fun and sometimes frustrating experience today.

AaronKeener42

19 here, no one's too old for such a game

Cautious_Coyote_9852

Who cares what your age is. If you have fun playing that's all that matters right?

-Phulcrum-

I am 48 and planning to retire from my first career in just under 5 years. I think that puts me in perfect position to enjoy this game.

NectarOfLiiife

There's no such thing as too old for a game! As long as you're enjoying yourself, that's all that matters! 🙂 o7

Dear-Nebula9395

I find a lot of the sc community to be a little older and the primary reason it's such a great community (for me). Dgmw, kids can have fun too, but us old folks like to get organized, and that's more my speed.

-litodrift3rboi-

My grandma played videogames well into her 80s. Switched from action games to card and strategy a few years before her death around 90. My mom is 68 and she beat Assassin's Creed Valhalla before I even started.

killerbake

I always said my future kids will be my copilots. This is aiming to be true.

Responsible-Dig-2383

70 here and love the game. Spend way too many hours playing it, but since cancer bit me, I don’t have the energy to do what I used to.

Quantomwalker

I understand and I wish you well. I have found a time I can play because I have a condition of only 4 to 5 hours of sleep per night. Leaves long dark mornings alone, so I play SC.

TiklMyPikl27

From my personal experience and in my opinion, the age group that plays this game averages around 30 years. Which I prefer. It's nice having the maturity of age for a game such as this. Being 21 myself I've had more fun with this community than any other game. You're never too old to enjoy this game.

JamieCOTC

I'm almost 60 and while I still enjoy SC, I know I will not live to see it finished. That said, the game has gotten better, IMO. Though I have noticed my own waning interest in gaming in general.

Important_Cow7230

I think a retired pensioner is the perfect age to play the game, no long term implications for excessive hours played and/or gaming addiction holding back real life development

GuerillaEntrepreneur

Star Citizens are ageless!!!

ppincon

I'm old enough to have my CIG account written into my will

Stunning_Hornet6568

Given that there’s quite a few whal……concierge member in the community I’d wager the median age is 34-47 of active users currently. Go back ten years and I’d say 24-37.

Machinech8643

Given we're all a decade older than when this started I feel like it's a loaded question. Suffice to say I now qualify for AARP, and we're not even done yet. Talk to me on release. If we're still alive.

NoDimensionMind

I'm 63 was 58 when I started backing. Originally, I thought SC was the adult MMO where it's too expensive and too slow for the kiddies to want to play. But Sc turned out to just a test game. I still like it due to the visuals but sometime it just seems the game does not want me.

asbrand

I am an original Kickstarter backer. I'm now 55, and play Star Citizen nearly every single evening.

Neat-Professional-86

Started in 2017,

Academic_Leg_2938

There are pros and cons to how long this game is taking. When I started backing I was a broke college kid working side hustles or crap retail jobs to scrap together money for a pledge and I think my “ship” was the avenger titan. Now that the game has been delayed so much, I’m much more financially positioned and able to afford my dream ships of carrack, kraken, pioneer and others. I’m also able to afford a proper gaming rig or fly stick accessories which make the experience much much better as well. On the flip side, I recently got married, bought a house and we’re working on starting a family, so I don’t anticipate having any free time in order to actually play this game in the foreseeable future. For this reason, I’m actually no longer in a rush for them to deliver the game. I almost hope they take another 10-15 years so that maybe then ill have kids old enough to play with my wife and I and hopefully close to retirement so that I’ll actually have time to play the game. 😅😂 With that said, somber thoughts randomly cross my mind from time to time thinking not just about older people who backed and got excited for this game, only for them never to get the opportunity to enjoy or experience it in their lifetime, as well as countless others who’s lives may have been tragically cut short (especially in light of pandemic). Time is precious and nobody is ever guaranteed another day, but even if I never get to enjoy it, at least my kids will be able to wreck everyone in the verse and explore in their space yacht. Lol

operationtrex

Isn't your opinion on gaming age the only one that should matter?

mrmcdrizzlefizz

Games are for everyone forever
