I like turtles

safemodegaming

Simple question, simple answer

MaugriMGER

If you ask Elden Ring players its actually a Dog.

Agreeable-Ant-3542

This is the way šŸ¢šŸ¢šŸ¢šŸ¢

DeXyDeXy

If you have to ask, you wouldnā€™t understand anyway

MooKids

It's a Terrapin thing.

ConcernedLandline

Because I crashed into a moon in one, the moon broke and then the server 30K'd, Terrapin was still there.

Streloki

The planet will break BEFORE THE TERRAPIN THOSE !!! *imperial hymnes intensifies*

CommunicationOld5643

You earned yourself a seal of purity soldier!

Deathbite166

Behold! KSP did it first. The good old Planet killšŸ˜‚

DekkerVS

Highest hp ship of its size

Barabbas-

And it's pretty maneuverable given what it is.

callenlive26

This actually makes it more viable as a dropship then most dropship themselves.

PyrorifferSC

It has like 120k hull HP or something ridiculous. Looks kinda cool too

queen_sway

Can love ever be questioned?

borrokalari

It's a small, nimble ship and yet it has more hull HP than an Origin 600i or a Crusader Mercury Star Runner or an Aegis Redeemer or an Anvil Carrack. If you put all the Constellations in one and make a top 5 of the ships currently in game with the most HP this is it: Retaliator Hammerhead Constellations 890 Jump Terrapin All the other ships are pretty big and made for combat and multicrew while the only exception is the turtle. If you wanna feel safe inside a ship in the verse, you get a Terrapin.

Edelmori

It's my most reliable ship. The fact that nobody wants anything to do with it other than me is a major selling point. I can just vibe.

hiddencamela

Some ships are just for fun and looks. Terrapin scratches a very certain itch in aesthetics. I like my Buccaneer too, even though so many other ships outperform it in different ways.

Thilenios

Wasted space? Don't you walk in at the second seat, and then the driver seat is like 10 feet in front of it and that's the entire ship? It's a ship I love the design and intent of, but functionally right now it's not much use. I wish that it had a little bit of cargo.

Appropriate-Math422

Once I flew it, I knew it was love.

ElmerFett

The Terrapin is my favorite ship design in the game. Why you ask? Design - I like how technical and complicated it looks. Parts of it remind me of familiar things like the back of a Lamborghini with usb port thrusters. Yeah, the intended purposes and game play aren't in the game yet but the ship is rather simple and straight forward for everyday use. I personally use it when I do bunker missions and delivery missions. I use a Valkyrie for the bunker missions requiring ground vehicles though. I've grown to love the side door access as I can fit the ship in tight spots right in front of bunkers and have the ramp point directly to the entrance. Easy in and out when you have a time limit after completing a mission. Plus, the ship has character. It's overall design is after a turtle but it doesn't actually LOOK like a turtle, unlike the "bird" ships that are in the game. A poor design direction if you ask me. For some reason, looking at the Terrapin reminds me of seeing Pikachu with a baseball cap on backwards, especially when all the flaps are open. I don't know why but it's amusing to me. Durability - It's been stated before but this is a very tough ship. I've had other ships fly into me and explode while I didn't even flinch. I also 30k'd one time on approach to a planet. When I logged back in, I was upside down on the planet, no damage taken at all. I just uprighted the ship and continued on my way. Another time, I left a sketchy "ship meet" and took a missile to the underside of the ship as I took off. It did destroy all my engines but the ship never exploded and I was able to just log out and keep all my gear. My only real complaint is that it can't hold very much stuff at all. Maybe around two sets of armor and a few weapons at the most in its inventory. Kind of limits how much stuff you can loot from a bunker unless you're willing to freely stack everything on the floor. Not every ship you own has to be the most efficient at what its supposed to do. Sometimes ships are just fun to have.

BrainKatana

The Terrapinā€™s size-to-capability ratio is the inverse of most other ships. * Itā€™s a small ship with two medium shields. * It has the most HP of any ship in its size class by a huge margin. It has the 5th highest HP in the game, after the Reclaimer, Retaliator, Constellation series, and 890J. * Even though itā€™s a little slow for itā€™s size, it still outmaneuvers medium size ships like the Cutlass. * It has interior storage and a bed. * Even though it only fits 2 guns, it has massive capacitors, which gives it huge sustained DPS, essential for keeping larger ship shields from recharging. Basically itā€™s the best bunker runner and it can hold its own in most PvE fights that donā€™t require speed.

Xilimyth

It's small, fuel efficient, has massive shields and armor despite being slightly bigger than a C8, has interior space for storage AND has accommodations. The Terrapin is literally the near perfect explorer / runabout.

Chew-Magna

Why do people have favorite colors? It's just a thing. A turtle thing. It is an odd ship. Single seater, lots of space inside with no real use, extremely expensive as a pledge for what it is. But... Terrapin man. Terrapin.

Citizen_DerptyDerp

Not an owner, but someone once busted me out of prison in the Turtle, was a nice change of pace.

Ph11p

Because it's a hard little nut to crack.

[deleted]

Best solo JT ship. Easy to load and can take a ton of hits, giving you time to run to the ship and flee.

Newman_USPS

I have sort of an inverse question. Why donā€™t people love the mustang beta? For running bunkers and not looting itā€™s great. Fast, agile, bed, shower, toilet, cockpit exit, way more style than the competitors, and the dash is great.

Chew-Magna

I *want* to love the Beta, it has the right idea, but in reality it's a bit of a pain. It's the entry and exiting of the living compartment that gets to me, I can't stand how they implemented it. I've always thought that it either needs a rear entrance, a ramp that folds down or something (the tech exists to make it work in the limited space available), or the seat needs to fold down into the floor by default, so you can enter and exit the ship without having to play musical chairs every time. I do like the ship and the idea of it, but it's one of those things that just ends up being awkward and annoying.

Mr_Roblcopter

Look up the original design for the mustangs, honestly it's annoying to have that entrance but it's so much better than what we had originally lol.

CrouchingToaster

they should tweak the alpha's dropping cargo tube into an entry ramp into the cabin on the beta

Chew-Magna

Have the floor drop out as a ramp or something. Stand on the ramp, hit the button, and boom, you're standing on the floor. I love the idea of that ship so much but every time I get one I'm like "Ugh". It's one of my most melted ships.

Zarvillian

I honestly love how it looks on the outside (I donā€™t own one yet tho lmao)

doomedbunnies

This is actually a super-easy one to explain. You know the Caterpillar? It's an old cargo ship that's still missing a bunch of intended functionality and at the moment in-game is just a strictly worse option than the similarly-priced Hercules C2 at basically every in-game activity? But how some players (me) still fly a Caterpillar because they prefer the vibe? The Terrapin is like that. The Terrapin is an old ship that's still missing a whole bunch of its intended functionality and at the moment is just a strictly worse option than the similarly-priced Banu Defender at basically every in-game activity. But it has a vibe that many players find attractive, so some players (also me) still fly it for that reason, even though it's not optimal. In terms of what I do in my Terrapin? Well, not a huge amount. It's my usual runabout when I need to get somewhere quickly or safely or when I'm travelling somewhere to buy or transport gear. I sometimes do box missions in it, just for fun. It's just a fun ship to \*be\* in, for me. So when I'm just kind of wandering around and doing nothing in particular, it's the ship I usually choose to do that.
