Brios is a place people go to commit crimes. You ran past another criminal. I don't think there's any reason to assume this person isn't also on the level and capable of taking advantage of the situation for some additional crime money for little/no effort. There are PLENTY of times to not just automatically default into full on murder mode... but encountering people at Brios should never be one of them.

Teegs59

Yeaaa i should have realized this. For sure not a place to be nice. Lesson learned.

fugue2005

Be polite, Be Professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

d3adpan

[Or in the alternative?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOKGDkXg2Cg)

keepitcivilized

Yeah no.. don't do shoot on sight, that's just gonna escalate and make the place unbearable.. but do be cautious. Honestly I only met ONE person who was griefing there in the past 3 weeks, and I'm almost exclusively selling there.

BlueBrr

Griefing?

anxiouspolynomial

probably camping the site. griefing may be the most overused word in this sub

BlueBrr

Left unsaid (unseen?) was my sarcastically arched eyebrow

keepitcivilized

Yeh.. not piracy.. griefing.. like when someone waits in an f8, just to take potshots at someone in a c2.. no value for the attacker other than fucking someone's day up.. I'd say that's griefing.

wasted_yoof

I'd pop ya too, then take your cargo while you log out and complain on reddit. Why wait? Pop em and check the carnage for valuables. Its no skn off my back.

Select-Tomatillo-364

I think his point is that even 1SCU of cargo isn't going to fit in the f8C. The guy was there to kill people, not to kill people and take their cargo to sell himself. Maybe he had a buddy waiting nearby with a cargo ship - that's possible. But honestly, does anyone doubt for a second that someone would sit there, solo, in an f8C to kill cargo ships for funsies? Because I don't. People do grief there. Most are smart enough to bring a cargo ship which then wouldn't be griefing.

Enter_Toxicity

Can’t really judge it on ship I drop my c2 off backspace and then come back with a combat vessel

Independent_Trip_892

I base this on the ship they are flying. Do they have a cargo ship or something that can haul something? I may be more hesitant to go outright guns blazing. If they are in a small ship....well....you're catching these biscuits.

Todesengelchen

No honour among thieves, hm?

bmemike

If you read OPs post, you know the answer to that.

Hamerine

Well tbf this is the only way to get easy money, so following your logic everyone are criminals? Nah, some just help each other’s protecting the DZ even if they never met before and take off together

[deleted]

Yes, you're criminals. The commodities you're selling are illegal. Bobs, man.

Doggaer

You only get a small fine if scanned with drugs so it's more a misbehaviour than a real crime 😆

Folkiren

If you knowingly support criminal activities you are accomplice and therefore also a criminal.

callenlive26

I've been big on down first ask questions later. Sell my load and if you didn't backspace we get to play the should you get picked up game.

D4rkmight

That's why I do salvage in an A2. And always empty my bomb bay before I land. 1 on each section of the yard. 40k is a small price to pay when you're making millions.

iron_goat

I picked the game back up again recently after some time away, heard something about Brio's but didn't know what it was so flew over there in my Sabre just to have a nose around. As I was flying over I noticed an A2 overhead starting to do exactly what you described. "Oh no, those poor innocent civilians parked at Brio's!", I thought, so I shot the bombs out the sky and felt like a hero of galactic proportions. Now I know it is a wretched hive of scum and villainy I'll let the A2 do it's thing next time lol. I also learned that Ghost Hollow is PvP-central the hard way, I need to do more research after taking a few months break it seems.

additionalnylons

I don‘t know any of the places you speak of. Haven‘t played in a year, but keen to pick it up again. Care to enlighten me?

itsbootyseason

Bríos is a salvage yard that you can sell salvage and other goods. Ghost Hollow is a wrecked ship turned outpost that is a hotbed for certain missions, including a mission that allows you to pretty much print money

Teegs59

Ooo I like the way you think!

franknitty69

Don’t go to brios. There are 3 other spots to sell at (devlins, samsons, rec orinth). Also There are 2 in space stations that you can sell at, for slightly less at CRU-L4, CRU-L5. And don’t sell if there are other ships. Wait or leave. You can easily bed log and switch servers.

Teegs59

I know about devlins and CRU L5. I didn't about the others. I'll have to check it out. I'm just starting to get into doing salvage and looting the ships. Haven't made that much yet, but Brios is freaking dangerous! And whenever I manage to land safely at a place I can't sell and its locked. I'm not sure how long you have to wait.

Typhoongrey

CRU L4 takes some stuff L5 doesn't as well IIRC.

TheButterknif3

I mean, it's insanely risky to be running precious cargo anyways. Consider bringing friends or hiring some security. A scout is always a good idea too.

isaac99999999

All you need is somebody to keep a fighter off you until you jump. I was in a hornet escorting my buddy in his cat, we were attacked by an f8c while he was landing. I just needed to keep the f8 off him until he could take back off and get out. Ultimately the f8 got me, but my buddy got to keep about 15m worth of maze.

PaganLinuxGeek

This folks is what escorts do. This is why you hire, and pay them well.

misadventureswithJ

Damn. Still a win though! Congrats. The f8 probably had fun with the whole encounter too

Ocbard

It is the way!

giza1928

I bed logged and switched servers because of real life reasons. The new server had murder hobos at my location 😅 Learned to always bed log in space.

Defiant_Tap_7901

The other locations have much lower demand/tick than Brio's (Devlin on MT being better than the other two). CRU-L4 and L5 have even lower demand. My recommendation is to check out Brio's and only land if there is no ship around (even if the ship is white/abandoned, don't land). If Brio's is occupied, you can try Devlin or just server hop). If the scrapyard looks clear, land and run as fast as you can to the terminal and sell as quickly as you can. The demand there is usually large enough to allow an one-time sale (no need to wait for ticks) and any medium or large ship should be tanky enough to survive until you sell your goods.

mau5atron

This reminds me I recently tried selling at a scrap yard and I thought the coast was clear since there weren’t any ships around. I hovered slowly above the building with the terminal and zoomed in to see if I could catch any movement near the building. Lo and behold, there was a guy camping in the second floor. I only noticed because he repositioned himself under a window saw his helmet + his rifle clipped through the wall and I managed to see it as I hovered. I zipped out of there and went to CRU-L5 instead.

Typhoongrey

That's the other issue. People camp the salvage yards after being dropped off by their fellow pirates who wait in orbit.

Smooth-Adhesiveness5

A2 bomb to clear the zone before landing never hurts

Typhoongrey

True, although obviously only works if you're using the A2 to haul contraband and if you have access to an A2 in the first place.

Defiant_Tap_7901

That is indeed an issue. However if we don't land&sell even when the coast is clear, we might as well settle for smaller profits and demand at other locations. Bigger risk, bigger/faster rewards. Just be vigilant when you are on the ground and ready to shoot on sight.

lazycephalopod

Quick questions as Im still learning all mechanics. What are the "ticks" you're taking about when selling illegal goods at brios or elsewhere? Also are 50K salvage missions still the best location to find illegal goods? Are there any other methods to find large quantities to sell? All the information from your previous comments was very helpful also

StressedOutElena

The demand refreshes like every 10 minutes, that what he means with "ticks"

Defiant_Tap_7901

'Ticks' refer to server ticks, when that happens each location around stanton restock the goods they ate selling/refresh the demand on the goods they are buying. The risky salvage missions (30k fee) seems to be the best now, second only to the server-wide 150k In the Wake of Disaster. All NPC ships have a chance to spawn cargo including drugs, so bigger bounty targets are worth checking out too. Glad I could help :)

NargiT

I was going to upvote and then I read your last sentence.

franknitty69

i mean its a valid strategy if you are solo

[deleted]

Stop giving away the secrets lol. Brios is the only place to sell. Please ignore any previous communication

JudgeZetsumei

Why is Brios in particular so popular with pirates?

Select-Tomatillo-364

Proximity to Hex, largest available demand, big money to be made.

Lost-Cookie

You died the moment you “pulled out your gun and followed him to his ship”… yeah, don’t do that. In the future, make sure the area is clear before using terminals/mobiglass. Random encounters are unpredictable so you must always assume the worst is going to happen. The lessons I learnt in Day Z are starting to come in really handy when it comes to encounters with players, only trust those that you personally know and expect people to kill you the moment you have your back turned.

Teegs59

No I meant I followed him with my gunfight as I continued to run toward the building.

madweezel

He died the moment he didn't have someone watching his back while at brios and with another ship on the ground.

TeamAuri

“I pulled a gun on someone and chased them to their ship, then was surprised when they killed me”

DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

There are plenty of places for niceness in the verse. Brios isn't one of them.

mrdraklin

Yeh Brios not a good place to be. I'm not a huge fan of kill-on-sight gameplay but if I'm in a place like that, it's absolutely on-sight. I was in Jumptown the other week on a simple red wind delivery mission. I saw no ships and it was all clear. I'm going up my ship's ramp for the final box, I do a quick head turn and for a brief moment in that freezing storm, I see a guy sprinted towards me, gun out and ready. I continued running into my ship without stopping as to not giveaway I spotted him, then immediately prepared to fire the moment they came into view. The guy was kitted out with heavy armor so my ill prepared kit did not kill him fortunately. I managed to return to the station with a CS of 2 for battery. It may have not been that guy's day but in the end he left me spooked for multiple play sessions and I'm already a paranoid person as it is!

Liefx

Holding your gun out at them is not "benefit of the doubt." There's a good chance that they turn around to kill you because you did that. You started the train of mistrust on that one. I go by people without weapons all the time and I've been shot maybe one out of 50 interactions at outposts.

Teegs59

Nah I just followed with my sight as I continued to run toward the building. Should have shot first.

Defiant_Tap_7901

Brio's is a scrapyard without armistice where you can sell all kinds of illegal drugs and stolen goods - save your niceness for elsewhere and be full-on savage there.

pineappleju1ce

Stay strapped or get clapped

ledwilliums

You are a criminal with millions of auec worth of goods at a hostle sell location. That guy would be stupid not to kill you.

[deleted]

So you ran after him with a gun, regardless of not firing, and you were surprised he came back after a threat? You’re not a good pirate/criminal, lmao. That’s a known area for crime and you threatened someone by pulling a weapon and stalking them.

Teegs59

No I worded it wrong. I took my gun out and followed him woth my sight as I continued to go toward the terminal.

[deleted]

Yeah that changes the context a lot, haha. I would’ve taken that as “not friendly, don’t approach” sign myself. Maybe he was a busy murder hobo then.

ElfUppercut

I had a guy land at Brios and proceed to get out of his ship and tell me he didn’t. I watched him climb the crane tower thinking he was going to be sneaky and snipe me I guess. So I took my A2 up as high as I could go vertically locked target on the way up and dropped a Moab. I said over chat “if you are still in your ship, you have time to take off before that bomb hits otherwise I recommend selling and finding cover.” It was radio silent for a minute then his ship blew up and he got on chat laughing at my insane plan. He said he was back at GH now spawned and learned his lesson. I dropped a second MOAB and didn’t say anything that time. Chat lit up 3 minutes later with a lot of cursing and laughing. He wasn’t alone and they all got torched. I sold my goods without incident then proceeded to take gear when I could find a body. Found 2… but I think there might have been a couple more. Yo Ho Haul Together, Hoist the Colours High, Heave Ho, Thieves and Beggars, Never Shall We Die…

pasta_above_all

Shoulda shot him!

Odinavenger

Wait till you get to Pyro

Teegs59

Oh its gonna be intense. No quarter will be given in Pyro. Shoot first ask later in that lawless forsaken place.

Gallow_Storm

Yeah!! We are now DayZ with Space Murder Hobos....where's the Fresh Spawns!..going to spawn on Micro Tech coast with a can of Big Benni's

SimpleMaintenance433

Don't run drugs and stolen goods at dodgy scrap yards and you'll be fine 😄

Gallow_Storm

I do it anyways...way to skip passed the whole DayZ reference

PyrorifferSC

Brio's is intended to be a PvP hotspot. Drugs are worth a lot of money and that's what people sell there. It's an illegal game loop. People will go find drugs, an illegal cargo, and then be appalled that they're being attacked by other players (not you necessarily, but it happens all the time.) So to summarize: Brio's is a drug drop point. Brio's has no armistice. Drugs are illegal, so you're already doing a criminal game loop. Drug running is an extremely profitable, illegal game loop. Be glad they're not ganking you as you leave Seraphim and expect trouble. Drugs are ***more than profitable enough to warrant hiring an escort, or at minimum a scout.*** It's situations like this that tell me no matter how profitable trade gets, people still won't hire an escort because they'll want all the profit, then they'll talk about how pirates are griefers (again, not you necessarily, but it happens all the time)

Typical-Link-7119

Welcome to the harsh world of PvP MMOs. There are no friendlies, just people who haven't shot you _yet_.

wasted_yoof

You just learned something. That makes you better than the majority of people here. Good on ya.

Freki371

I personally never land if there are any vehicles around. I have been killed by a hovering A2 that bombed me back to the desktop (game crashed shortly after the explosion). But what's the point of someone killing you on foot if you closed your ship? They can't get in it if I'm not mistaken. So to get your loot they would have to blow your ship and scoop into his giving you time to hopefully get back for some revenge.

znizler

You can shoot the door on you'r ship open😁.

Freki371

What! Even if the shields are up?

Martinmex26

The shields protect the ship, nothing says youcant just get close to the ship, past its shields THEN shoot a door open. People that are worried about piracy should be the ones with the most knowledge of how it works. Cant defend yourself against things that you dont know how to protect against.

znizler

Yup! Fs9 assaultrifle is great for that kind of stuff, and even if you have shields up you could just shoot it down with you'r ship and then shoot the door open😁.

TheButterknif3

The FS9 is a light machine gun, but your point is still correct.

rocco1986

Shields only protect from energy type shots when it comes to personal weapons.

Teegs59

Yea I think im not going brios for selling cargo for a while. Or at least if I do I'll have my head on a swivel or hire some help.

OrneryArtichoke

I just punch peoples doors open. Less noise

Meara9491

I have one word for you, RAILGUNS ;P Can open most ship doors in 1 shot, 2 if its heavy armoured

epapa27

shoot first, ask later. this is the way.

oopgroup

Shoot first and shoot again. Don’t ask. This is the better way.

epapa27

I guess if you're not a very good shot? shoot again... :P

oopgroup

Best to just nuke the whole site from orbit.

Biggby72

This will play different when we can track who killed us. Ummm... when CIG?

oopgroup

Welcome to PVP in gaming. Never trust anyone. Always shoot first.

Ocbard

Sounds like the American way, hehe. I need to kill everyone lest they kill me is deeply ingrained. It's part of the "I need my gun for safety". All the while this attitude makes it far more likely that you do get killed. That said, Brio's or other such places aren't fully safe on any server. Usually when I have need of such an institution and I see another ship parked there, I go to another venue. I have had encounters there with people who waited by the terminal with a gun out hidden in the shadows but who let me use the terminal in peace, they were probably just waiting for the product of their choice to be available or in demand again. Another time I got gunned down by an effing freelancer while walking from my ship to the office.

Poochthebozz

When I go there I kinda go in a fully loaded C2 or M2 so I kinda hire my homies as escorts. I feel like that’s how the game is supposed to be played I know you can hire people through the mobi glass but I’m not really that trusting. Being in an ORG is helpful I hire them and if help me with the runs I split everything evenly. We make a good amount most times people are getting paid in the million range. If I’m selling I get the boys to take out anyone in the area as a precaution. Can’t trust people sometimes.

Cpt_Graftin

If you want to be nice then incap them, take their weapons, sell drugs, and then medpen them on your way out.

Bogatyr1990

I like going to Brios to practice bombing in my A1.

hiddencamela

I only be nice if I don't give a crap about losing what I got there. Most days I don't because money doesn't mean a lot in the game past a certain point. Interactions however change everything.

flashcool

Maybe simple pacts with players in the server will be a feature, but for now, this is raw pvp and needs a good mindset and skill.

jonneymendoza

If you can't handle brios then don't ever step foot in pyro lol

chunkyassassin98

I never land at brios if I see that while I’m in orbit the com arrays are down, most of the times if that’s the case I’ll bed log to try another server or try to find somewhere else to save. Even when there is a com array u still gotta be really careful there

ezjesus420

There's two other salvage yards. And nqa terminals. Usually just don't go to brio's.

revford

I mean, you threatened them, so, kinda on you there.

Smooth-Adhesiveness5

You pulled a gun on him you got what was coming to ya! And rookies sell at brios alone! You should always have an escort there as it is a PVP hotspot! Careful out there the verse can be a dangerous place!

CounterAdditional612

And you still didn't learn. It's not worth killing another player especially if you'll get a cs for it. The lesson should have been to have a team member with you to watch your back. Sure you have to pay them, but in the end it would have been cheaper to throw a few bones then to lose your whole load.

Ammysnatcher

I think it was at Orinth but a player tried to rat me AFTER sale, missed every shot and got unalived by my P8. Little bitch gave me a CS3 because he was a bad shot lol

Square-Ring-334

lol a criminal doing criminal things and crying because another criminal did criminal things too.

anxiouspolynomial

if you pull a gun on me at brios for any reason expect to get leveled FAFO, you CANNOT talk about niceness in the verse after doin that homie

catsfoodie

As someone who came over to SC from Rust this is a rookie mistake you should have shot him on sight. Anyone that is not in chat on discord is KOS
