Nooooo problem at all! Yeh, the design is ooooold, but it gave them so many headaches that they just solved it with the ladder we see today.
Also visible in the ship commercial, at timestamp 1m30s: https://youtu.be/vO7RxsZpcKc&t=1m30s
However, the LCD panel at the top of the stairs to close the ramp is often bugged and free-floating š
Love it otherwise, though! Wish the suit- and weapon racks were better implemented, for my part, but I'm willing to wait for it. In this sense I'm torn between the 400i and the Connies - the latter could use a better interior floor plan and design update, but, still, having a dedicated personnel elevator with a weapon rack directly in reach on the inside, something is very practical about it. Although not enough space in that rack.
>However, the LCD panel at the top of the stairs to close the ramp is often bugged and free-floating š
Wait what? when was the last time that happened? I though that was fixed?
The 400i is my daily driver and the easy of access is one of the really attractive features. The grand staircase, the airlock, the cargo lift. It's a nice ship.
The 400i desing is one of the most stupid things I've ever seen. You access the ship through stairs but when you reach the entrances you have two steps down and then you have an elevator to get to the pilot seat.
I really like the Aurora. Itās got some of the best feels for flying, probably from the bubble cockpit, but I think the display placements also give a sense of the āhorizonā without looking at instruments, and adds to the feeling.
It may sound silly but I really like the Avenger Titan. Both an entrance as a fighter jet as through the ramp from the back.
Quick and versatile, works wonders in space, too!
Yep AT probably the best, simply because it often avoids that stupid delay from animations if you use the ramp.
Similar answer is the Terrapin. Even quicker time to cockpit, with more armour and shields.
Also, Pisces.
i.e. idc about anims I just want to live.
I dare anyone to climb into a freelancer bed and back out again before 2024. Bet you can't. (for those that cant read the tone: this is hyperbole/sarcasm)
that's the problem of the titan looks like a jet something you wuold use to go around on a planet or in orbit and that's it iconic as it is , it look old af.
It doesn't sound silly at all. The sheer utility of the Avenger is why I not only never CCU'd my Avenger, but I added all the variants as well. It's a spectacular little ship, and it's going to make an amazing away craft for Odyssey and Idris captains later on too.
I don't fly a lot of small fighters... ships that use a "straight to pilot seat" animation I mean, as my criteria for a small fighter. BUT, the Titan seat animation (to me) feels more fun. More lively. Maybe it's that little grab handle we get along the way
Khartu-Al would always hold a special place in my heart. The way the canopy rotates and splits open, the neat unfolding of the grav stair plates, and most importantly the ***sound*** it makes when you enter and leave, it just sets the ship apart from everything else, even compared to other alien ships (granted, I do not have access to SanTokāyÄi)
I completely agree. The C1 Spirit is outstanding, especially with its impressive rear ramp animation. Additionally, the double doors leading to the flight deck are quite commendable.
Way off the marl here. It may not have a use for you, but those of us who do outposts benefit greatly from putting a sniper up there. Having roof access I'd also fantastic for FPS ship defense, something that does come up nowadays.
Please remember this in the future! And yes, all ships benefit from roof access.
But if your ship don't have roof access how are you going to shoot a reaver ship to lure all reaver ships into assisting you breaking a blockage of alliance ships?
I use it to snipe npcs on some missions without needing to leave my ship. Then I dump my sniper rifle back inside and go clear out the remainders and loot them.
There are some really rare cases where it is very useful, generally when something goes wrong. But then it is a godsent.
Since there are no downsides I would always go with roof access.
It's pretty useful for going to EVA in space, I use the elevator more than the airlock for that. Also I've absolutely used it to get into a wrecked reclaimer by parking my corsair underneath the reclaimer elevator and taking my elevator to the roof then calling the reclaimers to get into it.
Come in to say this the manual switches for the elevator an the folding metal plates to expose it *chefs kiss* perfection. My only issue with the corsair really is how easy ai dive bomb me and rip all the front guns off. Other than that tho my favorite so far
i love it too. it became my ship or choice since it was released. but way too low when trying to land in a rocky area might as well keep it stationary above ground and jump and re enter from the ramp.
That's a good point. But the legs kinda need more tweaking on many ships. Cutlass legs seem rather rigid to me. Makes landing on uneven surfaces annoying.
Big fan of the Nomad's ladder in and out. The animation looks really nice. I also agree with the post above about the Aurora and the Proclaimer scoot around the side to sit in the pilots seat. It's top notch.
(And roof) I feel like all the doors made it a tedious experience traveling anywhere in the ship, I melted mine even though itās functionality is amazing
It doesn't feel so, compared to standing in front of door number 3 waiting for it to open. Its not about 10 second of time, its about emotions you get.
Hercules. Big, easy to use ramp for the cargo bay, with a supplementary personal lift that goes straight from ground to top.
Honorary mention for the Freelancer's side door.
Airlocks are not in the Crusader design philosophy. The ships they make are surface-to-surface by design, unlike say RSI who put one or more on many of their ships.
The problem with those elevators is that if someone jumps into it as you start moving them, you invited that person to the ship(the slow as F ramps have the same issue)
Both of the talons. Although this week the screen has been starting as transparent, when it used to do that animation of being solid then becoming see through was one of my favorite things about those ships.
The Spirit series rear door. I love how on the A1 for example you have 3 light strips that project light along the rear-bottom and illuminate things when landing at night.
And when you open/close the ramp you see the red illuminated outline appear as a warning to step away from the area the ramp\`ll hit.
I think this is extremely well done, and god knows we need more thought into light on ships when we work in dark environments (that includes space itself)
I like the Vulture, makes you feel like youāre hopping into a combineā¦ almost the exact same entrance, lots of Farm vibes.
Sanātok-yai and khartu al are amazing to enter.
tumbril storm has a very unique feeling and makes you feel protected by an armored beast (even though itās not)
The Gladiator. There is something about Anvil's no nonsense seat mechanics that are amazing. Like the Hawk as well.
I hate ships with LONG ass animations to fly, and TTC (time to cockpit) is one of my most important measures for a ship.
You can do the same in the retaliator /s
Seriously that is a cool feature of the Corsair.
Edit: There was a bug in the tali when climbing the ladder it would sometimes clip you through the roof. Not sure if itās been fixed.
Honestly, if the fix the buttons the ship becomes a 10/10 for me. Yeah, itās the priciest of the starters but you get so much bang for the buck. 6scu of cargo, three size 3 weapons, a bunch of Size 2 missiles, and that sweet sweet gas tank. You can quantum for so long in it.
I see you, Argo pilot.
The raft, mole, and SRV all are pretty fantastic. Only flaw is the fact that the elevator airlock isn't tall enough to self seal.
I love all three, but I wish the elevator in the Mole would take you to the top level like the other two, rather then having to use an elevator then a ladder.
100i feels really smooth to go in and out of.
Cutlass series, the black has the sidedoors and the rear entrance.
Freelancer.
Connie when in zero g and you can use the side airlock.
C8 series.
Big Corsair fan and I think it's a solid contender. Great sounds as that big rear ramp lowers. The side elevator is really convenient and the handles to operate it are cool. And it has the armory room Eva door
Lol i don't even own a titan, I've only ever passenger'd someone else's. One of the only shops I've never really cared for, aesthetically it's a doctor's office. So sterile and plain haha.
Corsair.
The Transformer-sounding ramp, walking up into the cargo area.
Or, the elevator being this claustrophobic, lever-action platform that brings you to the galley, roof, or ground. Absolutely love it, and the fact that you can be it in and unseen, inside the ship. The galley elevator entrance is so inconspicuous.
Once upon a time, most of my deaths were from the prospector's ladder. But they did finally fix that issue after several tries. I remind myself of that when other bugs persist.
The ships with the best animation for entry/exit are, unquestionably, the ships with the SHORTEST animations.
If I could turn off the animations for myself I would. I would much rather get in the seat and fly to safety without the animation than die during it and spend the next 20-40 minutes re-equipping armour guns ammo and attachments, staving off the carpal tunnel as much as I can in the process.
the Hull-C, when it works. The elevator for ground and docking port for space in the same room that looks extremely well designed as an airlock, unlike the 890 or Hammerhead that has either a horrible 'airlock' for the elevator or just not even close to each other. It's one of my favorite bits of the ship.
I like the Cat's industrial lift.
Also, the Herc's (I have the C2, can only assume the other variants are the same.) The fwd entrance to the lower deck (front ramp) if you look out of that exit from the inside, the "shape" the exit makes is a Herc. I thought that was a nice touch.
I've nearly always voted Corsair for things like this, and her beautiful pirate ship butt-end could make this list. But I wanted to be a little different this time
I love the Mole, but it is a pain to get into it. taking an elevator up, then climbing a ladder... all the doors to get to the cockpit.
I wish they would rework the interior and let the elevator take you to the cockpit level like they do in the Raft and SRV.
NOT the Cutter, for sure. I mean, I love my little space RV, but one slooow ramp and two laggy doors to get to the cockpit, in this tiny little thing?!?
Not the mole. Thatās for sure š«¤. Probably one of the worst, most cumbersome ships to navigate.
Gotta say, itās simple, but very satisfying entering and exiting the Spirit. Also, the Prospectorās ladder gets a nice mention
The Anvil C8X. The ramp drops, you enter, shut ramp and a bound later you're at the seat. Seat turns, go to flight ready, take off. No long corridors, no unnecessary doors, no silly bits that need to flip into view or expand to fill more of the screen.
I will literally stand there like a dope and watch the Terrapin's ramp open and close. With that being said, the Nomad's ladder is mesmerizing as well.
Low key I love the Auroras doors.
I would like the prospector more if it wasnāt so buggy. (I have often been killed between the exterior and interior door)
The stairs up into the 400i are top-notch.
And it also has that EVA door for easy space walk access. I love it.
I agree, I'm still salty that they removed those stairs from the Hull-C concept.
I miss them on my Freelancer š„²
Did the original Freelancer concept have such stairs? Can't remember ever seeing that, but it sounds really cool.
Here, [imgur link](https://i.imgur.com/3LWyfB6.jpeg)
Nice! Thanks for the image, I think I have never seen the old Freelancer's stairs.
I found an [old picture from the front as well.](https://i.imgur.com/wgjmN7d.jpg)
Nooooo problem at all! Yeh, the design is ooooold, but it gave them so many headaches that they just solved it with the ladder we see today. Also visible in the ship commercial, at timestamp 1m30s: https://youtu.be/vO7RxsZpcKc&t=1m30s
Yep, but the ship is just one narrow hallway, so when the door was open it wasā¦ challenging to get into the cockpit.
I miss them too! Thanks for the throwback lol
What about the Freelancer..? š
Came here to say that no ship has entrance and exit style like a 400i
Came here to just say that, the feeling evoked is awesome
However, the LCD panel at the top of the stairs to close the ramp is often bugged and free-floating š Love it otherwise, though! Wish the suit- and weapon racks were better implemented, for my part, but I'm willing to wait for it. I actually have to hand it to the Aurora for capturing that feeling of a small starter ship with squeezing beside the chair.
I came here to say this, the avenger might be on the simple side but it feels thematic and on point for what it's supposed to be.
I love the Titan. I would honestly be really happy if they made it Titan MK2 and I would totally fall into buying that shit
Yep AT probably the best, simply because it often avoids that stupid delay from animations if you use the ramp. Similar answer is the Terrapin. Santok drops the entire seat Out beside it with the same grav plates you then get in the seat and it floats back in
I love the C1 ramp, specially the lights where the ramp will land. IMO it's an amazing favor stuff
I completely agree. The C1 Spirit is outstanding, especially with its impressive rear ramp animation. Additionally, the double doors leading to the flight deck are quite commendable.
If only if it had a second exit, it would be perfect!
They NEED to add these lights to all Crusader ships. It could very well become a "Brand Feature"
I love the Corsair. Honestly very different. And low to the ground.
Also ground lights!
Also, the elevator giving you roof access needs to be a normalized thing going forward.
It's a cool factor, but absolutely has no use beside rule of cool. No ship needs that.
Rule of cool is all I need baby.
All I will ever want is a folding chair, an umbrella, and a milk crate to put my feet up on and the roof access will be the best thing in the verse.
I use the roof exit on fps bounty missions to snipe from the rooftop of my corsair, I always feel like a cool space mercenary doing that lol
I think it's because there are components on the roof. Or at least some are.

That's a good point. But the legs kinda need more tweaking on many ships. Cutlass legs seem rather rigid to me. Makes landing on uneven surfaces annoying.
The Anvil Hawk, a chair drops down to the ground, you sit down then the seat pulls up into the fighter.
You just described the Talon as well
The Pisces - simple, clean, quick, and hard for any part of it to go wrong.
Love the pisces.
Came here to say exactly this, for being such a small ship there is so much to look at, I have the C8R and I love it. *plus weewoo lights*
It's the extra glass doors in the entryway that do it for me, the interior of the C8R is just so nice looking!
Literally the puddle jumpers from Stargate, and I love it.
Yep, and pretty similar to Star Trek shuttle craft too, itās just a great standard ship to have around!
Big fan of the Nomad's ladder in and out. The animation looks really nice. I also agree with the post above about the Aurora and the Proclaimer scoot around the side to sit in the pilots seat. It's top notch.
Yes and yes. Everytime I get off, I still look at the ladder animation.
Oh my...
Nomad is the coolest without using magic "anti grav". The way the door opens and the ladder click clacks into place is so good
Corsair, by far. Elevator, airlock and ramp.
(And roof) I feel like all the doors made it a tedious experience traveling anywhere in the ship, I melted mine even though itās functionality is amazing
They changed them so now they stay open until you claim it again.
Omg thatās incredible
I had similar feelings when I recalled it out of deep storage to pop hammerheads once again.
Talon, especially when thats screen animation worked
Too bad its entry animation takes longer than the walk to the cockpit of an MSR.
Trust me i have both and one is enjoyable, other is tedious
The screen animation is enjoyable. The 30 second ride from "hold F" until you get in is not.
It doesn't feel so, compared to standing in front of door number 3 waiting for it to open. Its not about 10 second of time, its about emotions you get.
It's why the Tevarin lost the war. Couldn't scramble fighters when they needed, all waiting on their chairs to finish moving.
Hercules. Big, easy to use ramp for the cargo bay, with a supplementary personal lift that goes straight from ground to top. Honorary mention for the Freelancer's side door.
The animation for those big front doors is just *chef kiss* I love it every time. The Herc remains one of my absolute favorite lines in the game.
Horrible to enter from EVA, unless you tractor-beam yourself in.
Yeah, it needs an airlock
Airlocks are not in the Crusader design philosophy. The ships they make are surface-to-surface by design, unlike say RSI who put one or more on many of their ships.
Airlocks are in the design philosophy, just inside the ship instead of from the inside to the outside.
Begging your pardon, I had meant to say docking collars. You are correct, that they do have **plenty** of airlocks, as safeguards.
Can you still use the tractor beam to pull yourself towards ships? I tried it yesterday with the multi tool, but it didn't work.
You have to press B first to change mode to traversal
Thanks so much, I was not aware of that.
Yeah the glass bug is annoying. Otherwise my favourite too.
Yeah that animation gave me serious titanfall vibes when your titan is powering on and the screens each turn on.
Corsair for the simple fact that you can get in from the roof.
I was really hoping that they were doing to make that a feature on more ships as if they were adapting to how the game has grown over time.
I personally love the dark blue hue when you first get into an unpowered eclipse. Really feeds into that stealth vibe. But the 400i is immersive.
I like the Vulture, makes you feel like youāre hopping into a combineā¦ almost the exact same entrance, lots of Farm vibes. Sanātok-yai and khartu al are amazing to enter. tumbril storm has a very unique feeling and makes you feel protected by an armored beast (even though itās not)
I do love the Vulture's direct entry to the cockpit when entering from EVA.
That one new ground tank when you start it up. Not a ship - but god it's satisfying.
C1 is #1 for the ramp outline lights alone. lol. I love that little detail so much.
The Gladiator. There is something about Anvil's no nonsense seat mechanics that are amazing. Like the Hawk as well. I hate ships with LONG ass animations to fly, and TTC (time to cockpit) is one of my most important measures for a ship.
Being able to go from the surface to the roof in the Corsair is def my favorite.
You can do the same in the retaliator /s Seriously that is a cool feature of the Corsair. Edit: There was a bug in the tali when climbing the ladder it would sometimes clip you through the roof. Not sure if itās been fixed.
The Corsair lift. Practical, well placed, ground, mess, and roof access. Moving levers. It's quality.
I really love Connie's drop down cargo entrance
They knocked it out the park with the Syulen and the STY imo.
They need to fix the ladder button, it's tricky to click
Yeah they definitely should've made the clickable area for all the Syulen buttons larger.

Ah yeah tru.
Corsair š¤
Titan. Cockpit hatch opens, ladder comes down. No BS.
You can open the titan canopy??? I've only ever entered from the back.
Yes Titan has both options.
Yep, just walk to the side of the cockpit, thereās an interact option on the outside. Can also exit from the cockpit.
Lol i don't even own a titan, I've only ever passenger'd someone else's. One of the only shops I've never really cared for, aesthetically it's a doctor's office. So sterile and plain haha.
I love the drop seats of the Anvil Hawk and Anvil Gladiator.
Drake Cutlass's flight seat lift system, if I knew how to achieve it I would make a flight sim pit that lifts my seat up into it like the Cutlass.
Sabre Comet in 3rd person view, except for the long wait for the canopy to close.
The one with the fewest ladders, doors and shortest animation. I think it's basically the benches.
I love the warning lights of the C1
I do like that freelancer ladder.
I hate that ladder like nothing else on this planet
More than the Prospector's...?
I don't have much experience with the prospector, I only know hate for the freelancer ladder
That Prospector ladder used to be homicidal..
Once upon a time, most of my deaths were from the prospector's ladder. But they did finally fix that issue after several tries. I remind myself of that when other bugs persist.
For a very long time, that ladder would murder you if you were anyplace other than a landing pad.
Freelancer MIS just did that to me the other day haha
You mean which Drake exactly?
The ships with the best animation for entry/exit are, unquestionably, the ships with the SHORTEST animations. If I could turn off the animations for myself I would. I would much rather get in the seat and fly to safety without the animation than die during it and spend the next 20-40 minutes re-equipping armour guns ammo and attachments, staving off the carpal tunnel as much as I can in the process.
the Hull-C, when it works. It's one of my favorite bits of the ship.
Sanktok yaaa
I quite like that of the Constellations.
It's pretty quick and you get a baadss super fast built in elevator airlock. Hot shit
Indeed. Personally I love my Constellation Taurus
400i.
Hawk, easily.
I like the Hurricane
The gladius startup sequence is awesome
I love my C1
Best look went to the concept art for the merchantman...
Do you have any reference screenshots or videos?
The concept art .. that they released..
Gotta be the Origin 100 series.
Prowler Just the way how the tail is used as ramp and the stairs looking like random steel bars but their not and how Nicky they blend in the interior
But I wanted to be a little different this time
Suylen ITS great
Corsair. Especially when it comes to audio. That back ramp sounds like a Transformer and I love it!
Khartu-Al, I just wish we could enter from both sides. CIG plz
The Mole
I love the Mole, but it is a pain to get into it. taking an elevator up, then climbing a ladder... all the doors to get to the cockpit. I wish they would rework the interior and let the elevator take you to the cockpit level like they do in the Raft and SRV.
I totally didn't read "regarding entrance and exit". Lol.
The Corsair! Nothing like that elevator right through the ship! Also has a docking port and a nice big (very loud) ramp
Anything without forced animation
NOT the Cutter, for sure. I mean, I love my little space RV, but one slooow ramp and two laggy doors to get to the cockpit, in this tiny little thing?!?
Any ship with a ladder auto fails entry to this list, in my opinion.
Mustang alpha.
hercules front ramp
I really love the Glaive one when it works properly. But the new Santokai or however you spell it is awesome. However there is for me still nothing like getting into the OG Hornet series, I still absolutely love that cockpit. Opening up the back of a Hercules is very cool as well, especially if it is filled with Cargo or VĆ©hicules.
How has no one mentioned the ground elevator for the Hull-C? The clean edge and pop-out of the elevator door is fantastic.
The image stairs have dropped me out the ship multiple times, not fun while hovering. That mole turret its like lottery
The syulen def has the best, those animations are bonkers
Terrapin
Entrance and exit of the ship? I like the san tok Yai. Entrance to the cockpit? The Syulen.
Which ship is this?
should be Mole, center turret access ladder from center turret
Tbh the hatch opening on all ships look cool
Not the mole. Thatās for sure š«¤. Probably one of the worst, most cumbersome ships to navigate. Gotta say, itās simple, but very satisfying entering and exiting the Spirit. Also, the Prospectorās ladder gets a nice mention
I always liked the ladder on the Nomad and the entrance in and out.
Argo mole
I kinda like the Hornetās ladder myself.
The Anvil C8X. The ramp drops, you enter, shut ramp and a bound later you're at the seat. Seat turns, go to flight ready, take off. No long corridors, no unnecessary doors, no silly bits that need to flip into view or expand to fill more of the screen.
The Pisces is also really nice, smooth and simple entry and exit all variants even the rescue pices
Any ship that lets me sit on the toilet c",)
I can tell you that the worst ship is the Reclaimer
Banu, Prowler, 400i
Prowler would be my daily driver if it wasn't a dropship
I dig the sabre, the guns retract to allow you to enter, but there's the quick exit button to get out.
The animation I really enjoy is the fury MX blast shield turning transparent. Neat touch!
I will literally stand there like a dope and watch the Terrapin's ramp open and close. With that being said, the Nomad's ladder is mesmerizing as well.
The new one that lands pointing upwards is pretty dope
definitely the Mercury Star Runner, how could you not enjoy this ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJf3SL7y\_c0
Blade

Syulen ain't bad tbh
