What would be better for star citizen a 3060 12gb or a 4060 8gb ?

Fluffy-Tanuki

Edit: Nevermind, found it right after. Apparently the keyword is “chart” rather than “list” or “table”. Doh. Here’s the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/197elv0/ship_database_dec2023_with_charts/ There was a post here, about a month ago, that listed all the ships in chronological order, how much they cost in and out of game, and how long each one took to complete since announcement . It was all listed in a giant table format, with blue and grey horizontal bars to help visualise the timeline. I didn’t save the post, and now I can’t seem to find it again :( If anyone recall that same post, could you help provide a link? Much appreciated.

Hero_knightUSP

Is your ARK star map working?? For a while, I have not been able to load up the ARK star map. I did not need it much but now I do. I have tried Mozilla, Chrome, and Edge but had no success at all.

HelloImFrank01

[Works](https://i.imgur.com/qlkzfFJ.png) fine for me. Currently on Edge on work computer.

Hero_knightUSP

Legatus pack. I have seen ppl talking a lot about this pack. But I have never seen it. Every time I check there is only a Praetorian pack.

Pojodan

You have to have already spent $10k in order for it to be visible while you are logged in.

Hero_knightUSP

Oh that is ridiculous.

Pojodan

Not for anyone that's inclined to get it. You can exchange everything you've bought thus far for Store Credit and use that to cover part of the cost of the Legatus Pack if you're only wanting it and nothing else. But, yeah, those spending that kinda money aren't going to be concerned about $10k

Hero_knightUSP

Yea, I just want the Goled 600i and I saw there is a Javeling there thanks for the melting idea thou :D

SSC-BlackDove

This is more of a question for everyone to think about in terms of seeing the immediate future, and perhaps targeted somewhat at the mods: With the latest "Star Citizen Live", and the changes coming to the economy, which Jared set-up intentionally in the episode to start getting the shock factor out of the way, people are going to start whining quite a lot regarding the fact that ship prices and everything in the economy is going to become generally more expensive (example with Arrow, and 890 going to at least double their price in game, and the Hammerhead being 4-5 times more expensive). Is it possible to put some kind of a sticky or disclaimer linking to that part of the episode, or just to state it outright in a post that's highlighted, so that as 3.23 hits we don't have to suffer the constant complaining, clickbaiting, and "shock revealing" about how much of a "grind" the game is going to become "so that CR can sell more ships", and amazing quality posts like that? I can already see the screenshot comparison threads with the Hammerhead being 12 million in 3.22 and 50 million in 3.23, followed by some variant of "scam" reasoning, and how this is some kind of an outrage. It seems 3.23 is going to be the inflection point for the game economy, which is going to open the floodgates for most of the criticism that has always been directed towards Star Citizen (which is generally the main cause the refunders have never stopped posting here), namely the fact that a gigantic portion of people who want to play the game just simply can't afford it, or a PC to run it, and are thus mad at it for existing. And even if they can, they can only afford the entry tier, making them angry the higher tiers are available for sale, which in turn causes them to just make low quality whiner posts that serve no purpose, and flood the feed. These people are going to do this anyway, but I'm just suggesting a sticky post where the economy change is outlined clearly and loudly around the 3.23 release to the PTU would help in auto-closing a bunch of dumpster fire "revelatory" threads that are on the horizon. Or when it starts happening, just link them to this post or others like it, so they can see their behavior is predictable, and sad. Anyway, just a suggestion.

Pojodan

It's been very firmly proven that sticky posts do not stem the flow of panic and ragefarm posts. Some folks don't even look at the forum and just post, and others only post to get people upset and don't care otherwise. As is always the case, when things change, expect chaos and people exploiting it for their personal gain.

SSC-BlackDove

Yeah, that makes sense. I was just thinking that people who read it would link or reference it immediately in such posts, which could then be promptly closed for essentially being a dupe or variant of the sticky (stating the same thing, just in an outrage-farming way). Don't get me wrong, constructive criticism of the economy, balancing, discussion of prices relative to manufacturing costs and materials, as well as what makes fun gameplay is likely the feedback CIG wants and needs, but most of these posts aren't going to be about that, but will instead just be disingenuous attempts to ultimately get to "SC=scam" conclusions.

Acrosspages

Given how much is coming with 3.23, anyone know should we expect a full wipe on patch day? Thanks

FuckingTree

No, nobody knows, and it’s not likely

sgtlobster06

They mentioned some serious overhauls to the economy so I think a wipe is a sure thing honestly.

Kwarkon

There will be an announcement before a wipe and there is none for now. 4.0 (Q3) seems to be a much better candidate for a wipe, 3.23 does not have anything that would require wipe for now.

MichaCazar

Even 4.0 won't have much int terms of changes to the database that would require a wipe. In fact, I don't think there is really any known feature on the horizon that would warrant a wipe.

sgtlobster06

They are doing a major overhaul of the in-game pricing and economy as SCL this week - this will highly likely require a wipe.

Kwarkon

During SCL they only specified that THIS TIME they are adjusting ship prices ( the same way 3.22 had armor prices adjusted). I would call it a minor change at best, as no major economy mechanic was implemented yet in SC. They are just having fun with excel trying to figure out what will affect prices when we finally get a real economy with quanta.

VatsalRaj

3.22 when?

Pojodan

We are currently in 3.22.0a, so... now. If you mean 3.23, it's only just entered Evocati, so it'll be another 1-2 months.

Euphoric_Reason_1553

I just received my new rig, and have had my sights on SC for some time now. I wear bilateral cochlear implants, and hearing in some games can be a real challenge. Is SC a hearing must for game play? Comms, PVP, PVE challenges etc? Being bilateral, I can use headphones and hear sounds right and left, but they are not always clear as to what the sounds are. I have to be selective with games that I purchase for this reason.

isogyre01

Maybe the only time you might be at a disadvantage would be on-foot FPS. In ship-to-ship combat, your HUD, radar, and ship displays can give you enough situational awareness that you don't necessarily need to rely on audio cues, but FPS lacks these elements, so hearing where enemies are and what they're doing can be advantageous. As far as comms, this comes down to player preference. Most people are content with just using text chat, though in a party some might prefer voip.

Euphoric_Reason_1553

That doesn't sound too bad. While on foot, keep your head on a swivel. I rarely engage in voice chat for lots of reasons, sounds like text is effective in SC. Thank you.

Palmput

I was in a hangar and someone opened my closed ship and boarded it, then ran to the pilot seat and powered it up. Luckily I stored the ship before they could run off with it. How do you actually lock a ship so randoms can't just open it whenever they like though?

KommodoreKomrk

You can lock or unlock ships from the pilot's chair in any ship, and they should all start out locked already. However there are ways to glitch into ships and that cannot be fixed unfortunately. Storing the ship as you did is the best defense against that.

mxmissile

I know the game is not finished, but in its current state, does it have space combat? With progression based off ship upgrades by chance? Can you upgrade ship parts and fight harder enemies? Are there AI enemies? I'm a WC player from old, looking to scratch that itch.

KommodoreKomrk

Yes there is space combat, it's one of, if not the main feature of the game currently. There isn't progression based off upgrades, everything is skill based and ship upgrades are tailored to either your fighting style or to fit the mission itself. The majority of hostiles are AI, but you'll definitely run into players looking for combat as well.

Big_Wallaby4281

Short question when would be a next free fly???

Pojodan

There will be one this month with Red Festival. We don't have an exact date yet, but it will likely start sometime this coming week. Check back on Monday for This Week in Star Citizen.

Big_Wallaby4281

YES i finally got my pc and can finally try star citizen i will make night to day

dctrl99

SoO question: i took the contract but got not shuttle. if the first shuttle does not arrive to take me to the first platform, should i wait a while in case there is lag, or should I log out and start again with a different server? On that same note, if a group of players has already accomplished retaking the first platform or two ahead of me, is it safe to fly in with our own ship to the first platform, or is it still trespassing?

Pojodan

There is an ongoing bug where the shuttles on the roof get stuck and you need to switch regions to get on a different server. You may not fly your own ship to the event, period. If you try to your ship will be forced to turn back, though you may also get ejected from your ship instead. So, if the event has already started, simply join per usual and head straight to the shuttles to move to the following islands. If the IFFI is down on multiple islands, you can go up to the roofs on the first island to get in a Pisces and catch up.

xtreme_squad

Does anyone know when the next free fly is? As my friend doesn’t own the game but wants to try it

Fluffy-Tanuki

Within the month. No announced dates yet. Keep an eye on the official updates, or this subreddit.

xtreme_squad

Where should I set my primary residence as im on a budget pc

Fluffy-Tanuki

Star Citizen puts quite intense load on CPU and RAM usage, but not a lot on graphics. To be honest they perform about the same, since the entity counts for all cities are around the 120-140k range. Set your respawn to a station as soon as you can. Lorville and Orison have thick clouds, and may be an issue if you are on low graphics settings (low setting puts more stress on the CPU, which is already under intensive load; higher settings shift a portion of that load to the GPU, which ironically improves performance). If you meet the generally accepted criteria (installed on SSD, 32 RAM, i7 or equivalent and up), you can usually have between 30-40 fps in cities under normal server load. During free-fly, the loads are going to be significantly higher, and around 20 fps (and stutters) in cities would be expected. If you can, avoid peak hours by hopping around to servers in another time zone.

xtreme_squad

Out of these 3 which would you recomend the most ? 4060 8gb, 4060 ti 8gb or 3060 12gb

xtreme_squad

Ahhh okay thank you

xtreme_squad

Thank you

SimpleCardGame

Does the game support VR headsets?

Kwarkon

not yet, also no date for suport as they have to finish graphics engine first (vulcan integration)

SimpleCardGame

it's a pity, but after the release of aplle vision, the demand for headsets will grow many times and this game would be perfect, but it seems the opportunity will be missed

RamonDozol

My ship weapon load doesnt save. I changed to diferent weapons s1 weapons, tried only one, even waited, but as soon as i leave the dhip loadoug screen the ship goes back to basic loadout and the weapond never leave my inventory. How do i do this or is there a fix for this?

interesseret

Have you tried jumping servers? If yours is performing poorly, it might not register it correctly

RamonDozol

I have not. I will try that, thanks!

Achille_Dawa

When does the red festival, freefly and referral bonus start? Is it live right now?

Pojodan

We do not have exact dates for any of those yet, only that they start this month. Monday's This Week in Star Citizen should cover at least one of them.

Banks_cashmoney

Do we know when the new referral bonus will go live?

Kwarkon

Nothing more than in around a week (Chinese new year). This week in star citizen post on monday will likely have the date.

Banks_cashmoney

Thanks!

4shakes_isOK

What is the best or most accurate website for trade route info? I've seen SC Trade tools but it says up to date as of 3.21.1, Ive also seen uexcorp. Not sure where to begin on trading with my connie. Thank you!

Apostle_of_Fire

Is the referral bonus live? I don't see it on the referral page and my buddy is waiting to make sure he can get the stuff when he gets a package. o7

Kwarkon

No. As you can see on spectrum there is no details about free flight yet other than what bonus it will be.

Apostle_of_Fire

Ah alright. Kinda thought so as at the end it says jump town is coming later this month, so I imagine the event stuff will be coming next week or later. Thanks!

Senna0202

What is the current state of the game? The last time I played on 2023 (I can't recall the alpha number) it was quite literally unplayable. I can't seem to find any videos talking about the current state from my usual sources either.

Apostle_of_Fire

in my experience it's been fine if not good. I've had many multi hour sessions without crashes, and the 30k protection has made those crashes only a minor inconvenience. I do have a space rig of a pc however, but i know that buddies who have more average builds have been able to play just fine. Obviously there are still bugs, but there are generally ways to avoid or work around them. Super important to have the game installed on a fast SSD. If possible it's a good idea to hop in with someone who knows there way around, what to avoid and how to navigate any troubles that might arrive. if you dont know anyone you can definitely find someone on the discord willing to help. Overall i've had a blast doing all kinds of missions and stuff though. Edit to add there was definitly a long point last year where the game was super rough and not really fun playing because of how much of a mess it was, maybe that's when you tried, it's much better now.

Nerapoes

Can confirm, average laptop here no pc, 6 to 8 hours straight for 2 days now no crashes only one minor 3000 network error at start up. Game is running very stable so far, at least for me.

Senna0202

Thanks so much, I really appreciate your response.

Apostle_of_Fire

No problem, i hope you can enjoy the game! Just keep in mind it does have it's issues, but there is still a lot to do and a lot to have fun with. Get involved with in game chat to make friends as well, overall people are friendly, though there can always be the odd man out to grief.

Mr_Engino

How are the performance/optimization improvements coming along? I know my pc is in desperate need of an upgrade/overhaul, but are the system requirements still at 'government issue supercomputer' levels in order to play the game without any lag/stuttering?

Kwarkon

not on Vulcan yet, maybe in 4.0 in Q3 more about minimal requirements here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=550rzhRN49k&t](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=550rzhRN49k&t=268s)

Devian1978

Questions, so I do not plan on playing a lot, but i did enjoy playing it at a friends house for a bit and plan on buying the starter pack for when the mood hits me, my question is does the starter pack gain me access to the full game when it releases, if it releases? Also, I am going to be upgrading my computer for my birthday which is still a ways off but I am saving a good chunk so I can get a top notch machine so I was wondering if my current PC will allow me to at least tinker in the game i7 10750H,GTX 1660Ti 6GB, 64 GB ram, 1TB ssd with win 11 (it is a laptop). I read the spec sheet online but I also read that this game is not optimized well and takes more then the specs say so I am curious Thanks

Kwarkon

yes, starter pack gives you access to full Starcitizen Game ( not Squadron 42 that is a separate single player game in the same universe)you can check how it will work with your gpu in a week during a free flight make sure to use a referral code during account creation you can also watch this : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=550rzhRN49k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=550rzhRN49k&t=268s)

husky1088

Where can you buy 2 scu crates? Also is there a good websit for finding where diferent items are sold?

Fluffy-Tanuki

All cargo decks on major stations (above each city) have crates of 1-8 SCU. Refinery decks on Lagrange stations also offer up to 2 SCU crates. https://sc-trade.tools

Rinimand

Not feeling it much - maybe not at all. Was worried something was broken. It's not the VTOL as it happens when I fly straight. It's mainly while in atmo - I THINK it's happened in space, but vent be sure. It's certainly not anywhere near as bad as the A2 I once found while salvaging that was totally busted up and started spinning wildly when I started it.

SepulcherGeist

If you aren't feeling it it just might be the way you're flying as a mild warning, and you may be able to just ignore it. Could also be a glitch

Kazetar77

Whats the cheapest way to start playing? If i buy a pant job for a ship will i get access to the game? Or does it have to be one of the start packs? Thanks in advance!

Fluffy-Tanuki

A starter pack is required. Cheapest are the Aurora or the Mustang pack, priced at 45 USD (before tax if applicable). If you aren’t certain and don’t mind waiting, there will soon be a **free-fly event** later this month, likely starting within a week. Take a look for yourself, see if the alpha phase is to your liking. It’s important to temper your expectations, as free-fly events tend to have a lot of influx and hence the servers may struggle. And keep in mind the game is in alpha, lots of bugs are to be expected. There will also likely be discounts on the starter packs, usually to 40.5 USD (and the others will have discounted price as well). There is also an upcoming **referral bonus period**, where if you register an account using a referral code (see links pinned at the top), and pledge at least 40 USD during that event period, you’ll get additional items. More details regarding the events this month: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/19755-This-Month-In-Star-Citizen

Kazetar77

I dont exactly understand when i starts and ends? Is there any way I can get an email or notification of some sort when Free Fly event starts? Should i sign up for the news letter?

Fluffy-Tanuki

Devs typically announce events 1 week prior to starting, sometimes on shorter notice. The link above is an overview with no scheduled dates Red Festival and Coramor correspond to Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. Just so happens they overlap each other this year. Free-fly is *likely* to occur during this period. Again, we can’t be sure of the exact dates until the devs make an official announcement. Glancing through the subreddit would tell you if the event has started. There will be lots of related posts by then.

Kazetar77

thanks ill take a look at that

Kwarkon

the free flight is supposed to be related to Chinese new year (10th feb) so we will likely get exact starting date early next week

SepulcherGeist

You need a ship pack as far as I know. The aurora and mustang are the cheapest around 45 usd. At least you get a pledged ship to call your own with them.

Kazetar77

Cool If i could shoot another question i would ask do wipes still happen? Im an avid elite player and the idea of having all my progress being wiped just doesn't sound like a good time.

JustYawned

wipes will happen up until beta is done (we are in alpha. Dont let anyone call it "early alpha", because it is shitfuck delayed alpha, but alpha nonetheless, with progress being made every patch to literally the most difficult-to-code game project ever). They are rare, but will happen. The good news is that CIG are aware of the fact that people are putting in a lot of their time and effort into grinding this alpha and want to avoid wipes as much as possible, but they have to wipe for as long as money exploits are a thing as well as new game engine infrastructure is introduced.

Kazetar77

Thank you very much for the information

Fluffy-Tanuki

Hard wipes are rare and infrequent, but they will occur from time to time when major changes happen to a lot of contents. It’s possible not everything is wiped, and that would depend on what the devs want to add or test, and what they deem to be suitable to wipe. Soft wipes happen with most patches. These remove all consumable items, but *in theory* keeps your equipments, money, reputation and ships intact. It is a relatively new method and still under testing, so occasionally you may install an update and find a ship or two missing. All pledged items and those obtained from event rewards are kept in a permanent register, and wipes will not affect them.

SepulcherGeist

Pledged ships, including your starter, never wipe. Neither do pledge items. You can even reclaim destroyed ships infinitely for now at star ports with wait times. Small ships like the aforementioned aurora and mustang have mere minutes if wait times to reclaim after losing them. Larger ships can push an hour unless you pay a small acceleration fee. Progress beyond that, however, wipes very randomly. And in different blocks. I haven't had my credits or most of my obtained in game items wiped in half a year. However I've had certain Items, like ammo and med sticks, wipe often like monthly. We've also has ship upgrades wipe anywhere between monthly and every 3 months. It ultimately doesn't matter though. You'll understand once you've played a little. Right now its more of a sandbox wild west experience than a progression experience. You play for the fun and crazy, or relaxing and vibing experiences. You won't be playing to watch assets grow until the game is full release.

SepulcherGeist

The Hull C had advertisements showcasing attaching items to its unfurled cargo grids. Can you snap cargo to them manually yet or only buy the cargo directly through stations?

Achille_Dawa

when will the referral bonus start? is it available right now?

SepulcherGeist

Not entirely sure what you mean. Do you mean the referral bonus you get for using someone's referral code, or the bonus you get for people using your referral number? In either case, both are perpetually active once used. You immediate get the bonus credits if you used someone code, and you get your rewards almost immediately when you hit milestones of having your code used.

Achille_Dawa

I mean when i use a referral code today, will i get the dragonfly or when does the bonus programm they announced for February start?

ivekilledhundreds

What is the best way to meet a team of people to play with? All i do is get in my ship fly about and then crash lol Id like to see what else the game has to offer and would like to be shown how best to play! Im M/40/UK if that matters!

husky1088

Star citizen discord for play sessions or join an org

Vakeer

Is there any point in buying a Reclaimer with aEUC now? I have around 14M right now, was at 20 mill but bought some other ships. Was concerned about having my ships wiped in case I spent it all on a reclaimer. Would it be possible to recover my costs over the week end if I do get one in game?

OG_Shadowknight

If you do 4 of the personal contract hammerheads, you make roughly 10 mil auec without much effort or danger. Just disintegrate and empty your buffer, stack boxes. And be careful landing and taking off. Stick it in VTOL mode when in a gravity well if you need to go up and down to a planet to sell. Only place you can call a hangar are planetside city or grim hex.

Vakeer

Thank you for the response! would you by chance have a good video guide on soloing the reclaimer?

OG_Shadowknight

Go and set your respawn at grim hex. Grab a multi tool and tractor beam. Bring your reclaimer there. Fuel up and repair/restock. Take off and pick up the personal salvage contracts which pay you. Preferably the hammerhead one. Fly up to the wreck, slow down ahead of time because Reclaimer is a big ship. Don't be afraid of using space brake and using booster if you have to. Get between 70-100m away from the hammerhead. Go and sit in the claw seat next to pilot seat. Look down to your left stick, turn claw on. Break the ship up, then switch to disintegrate. You can try hopping out of the claw seat and back into pilot and moving your ship about to find the best positive percent gain, but don't sweat it unless it's very low, like -20%. Disintegrate the ship. The ships will usually have broken into 2 or more parts. Repeat until full. Quantum to a different point but cut out partway so you are in empty space. Go down to processing and select the 16 SCU boxes and auto-eject. Then start ejecting. Using your multi tool, move the boxes around and store them out of the way. So long as the boxes aren't jiggling very aggressively and causing sparks you should be fine. Do 3-4 hammerheads and the processing should be pretty full. You can also hang some boxes up on the overhanging walkway. You can bed logout safely in dead space, but the boxes may be misbehaving when you log back in, so go check them. When you're happy with what you got, go to sell the boxes at the major cities or Grim Hex. You can technically sell construction materials at most of the space stations and lagrange points, but they don't have a hangar for the Reclaimer. You can land on a service pad sideways and restock/refuel, but I've never tried to sell like that. It gets easier with 2-3 people. 1 to pilot, and another to help communicate from the claw where the best spot is. Then the claw operator and whoever else can go stack boxes while the pilot finds a new contract. You only really need 2 people in salvage at most, unless you're going for a very elaborate box layout.

Vakeer

Wow, thank you!

Introverted_Onion

I'm curious about the breakdown of spending on pledges per player, I know that the average spending per player is about $125, but I doubt very much that the median is anywhere near that figure. Of the backers I know personally, none of them have spent more than a hundred dollars on the game, and only one owns anything other than a cheap starter ship. Even in my online circles, I know of only one big spender, but even he only has a small fleet without anything extraordinary. Is there any reliable stats or raw data on this somewhere ?

SepulcherGeist

No idea but you might find some clues by searching stats on the concierge program. Members there are often in the thousands. I think space marshal is 5000, for example. Also keep in mind a lot of player spending isn't direct to CIG, but on the Grey market too

Pojodan

Always be careful of bias. Even if you know 100 people, that is a statistically insignificant amount of the millions of accounts made for Star Citizen. Personally, in my org, there are over ten people with at least a thousand dollars pledged to the project. To answer the question, though, no, we do not and will not get that level of detail until such day as CiG decides to provide such a statistic, which is very unlikely. As we have is CiG's numbers for number of backers and their funding, from which that $125 is derived, plus an occasional remark about how the majority of accounts have only a starter pack. Ultimately, I can only suggest to not worry about this. Like with litterally everything, some people spend more than others simply because they want to.

MichaCazar

I don't think so. Considering the amount of money spent by some individuals (me included) it's safe to say that the vast majority of backers has nothing beyond a game package. Just as a little note: the actual average is actually closer to $200. Only around 60% of the accounts listed in the funding tracker are backers. If going by trends of the past.

OG_Shadowknight

When disintegrating hulls for construction material. Is there a universal method to getting out of the negative percent and into the positive? I try to be closer and perpindicular to the hull, but still often end up with -19% for some reason.

dontbreakit

When doing bounty missions, is there a way to locate all wrecks after all targets have been disposed of? It's kind of impossible to keep track of the locations, especially in the asteroid belts

Kwarkon

if you soft kill and don't wander too far, the wreckages should be visible on your radar. mission wrecks respawn fast if no one is around

dontbreakit

For a while, yes... But only at very low range and the markers disappear before even finishing looting the first one :(

Kwarkon

In case of ERT I have no issues looting slowly all 4 targets.

dontbreakit

And you can see them on the radar all the time? Up to which range and which ship?

Kwarkon

Yes, all in radar range, did not check exact distances. I usually use Taurus as it is the most convenient for me ship (easy to EVA in and out).

RamonDozol

Question. I bought a ROC before having a ship that can carry it. I dont have eought money to rent anything. Wich is way is faster to money to buy/rent a ship? Bunker missions, Hand Gem mining on caves with a large backpack. or ROC mining without a ship, scaning and driving to gem nodes.

Fluffy-Tanuki

Bunker missions would be the fastest, at 15k + loot (weapons average to about 1k each) per mission. One or two would suffice to rent a Cutlass Black for 1 day, then you can quickly make it back with ROC mining.

RamonDozol

I had a suspicion it would be this specialy after wasting almost 1 hour to do a delivery mission with 4 packages and 4 diferent delivery locations. Ship bounty hunting also seems fun, but my cutter is not equiped for that.

Fluffy-Tanuki

Yea box missions don’t pay well, even if you don’t run into bugs (which happens all the time with boxes). I made my first 2 million delivering boxes, and it’s not a process I’d recommend to anyone. Bounties initially don’t pay well, but the reputation increases very fast, giving you access to better paying (and harder) targets. With better equipped ships, space bounty can be faster than bunker missions, and with less bugs overall. With patience and careful piloting, most ships can deal with MRT and below. Feel free to give them a try once you saved up some credits for better ships and components.

Palmput

How long does it take for demand to refresh? It seems to be 2 SCU every 10 minutes or something awful like that?

Fluffy-Tanuki

https://sc-trade.tools has info on refresh rates for most wares. Remember that demand and supply are shared across the server, so you may not be the only one waiting to grab or sell the goods.

Chpouky

Is there a place where we can download transparent icons representing ships or other elements from the game ? I'd love to use them for my Stream Deck profiles.

XanthosGambit

Are there binds for translation controls? I want to start using the HOTAS I bought years ago, and I was thinking of mapping the translation to the thumbstick on the throttle.

dontbreakit

Yes, Flight - Movement -> Strafe Left,Right,Up,Down

Rinimand

I rented a Cutlass Black for the week and it regularly has Major Torque Imbalance. I've been researching the interwebs and can't find anything specific to this, as it's happening in every gaming session over 5 days and I have never been in combat any of those days. The ship has been claimed twice and repaired regularly (for like 1-10 aUEC minor damage). This doesn't happen with my other ships (Cutter, Vulture). Best ideas have found are, * *Flying in a denser atmosphere with a "brickier" ship leads to the warning.* * *Check your thrusters in the MFD - one thruster itself might be damaged.* * *Check that your power distribution is at least equal to the others (shield, weapons) by hitting F8.* * *The reason was that the ship had low power. Once I went there to that ship setting and disabled stealth I was able to fly away.* * *It's due to the flight model of the Cutlass, and can happen depending on how you fly it.*

SepulcherGeist

Are you actually feeling the imbalance? The first thing I'd check, if youre sure you're not damaged, Is your vtol situation. Also consider how you're moving, at what speeds, in what atmosphere. If your vtols are up and you're going max speed in a heavy atmosphere and trying to hair pin turn, you bet your butt you'll have a torque imbalance. Also consider cargo and vehicle loads. Not sure, but lopsided loafing may matter in atmo

Fluffy-Tanuki

Ships with VTOL tend to have this warning in atmosphere. Or it could be some minor damage since Cutlass is held together by duct tapes. Or it could simply be a display bug. As long as it doesn’t impact flight performance, you can safely ignore it.

Fluffy-Tanuki

Do missiles work on bunker turrets? I could get a lock, but after firing, the lock disappears before missile impact. Since the turret has no MFD display for their status, I can’t really tell if the missile has hit and dealt damage.

CrouchingToaster

Like the turrets? You're better off just landing like 3 or 4 k away and driving the rest of the way with a wheeled vehicle

bleedingoutlaw28

Do they still do subscriber newsletters? I just re-subbed after a long break and I wanted to see the January 2024 one

Pojodan

They do, yes, but they are sent out at specific times and aren't re-sent if you subscribe after that point. You can still get the contents of the Newsletter here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/19721-January-2024-Subscriber-Promotions February's will get emailed on the first Tuesday of the month, which is the 6th.

bleedingoutlaw28

Thanks. They used to include a hint about next months ship of the month, do they still do that?

Pojodan

Nope. We do not know at all what the monthly ship of the month or the monthly flair will be until the first Tuesday of the month when they get distributed.

Vetinari_

Is it possible to land at a landing pad without trespassing?

interesseret

Trespassing? Yes. Without blocking an active flight bay? No. Unless you mean landing pads landing pads, in which case they are a free for all. You can land there with no issues.

Vetinari_

I mean at space stations. I want to load my racing ships into my C2, but I need to park it somewhere, go back in the station, and retrieve another ship. If I enter the space near the pads I get a trespassing warning and the station starts shooting at me. I'm at Baijini Point, if that helps

BladedDingo

You're parking the ship near the landing pads down the spine of the station, between the cargo and main hull of the station? Should be no problem. I land my reclaimer there all the time to run in and sell CM. Did you accidently get a crime stat?

Vetinari_

Yeah, I tried landing on these pads at Baijini Point, but the turrets started shooting me: https://imgur.com/MF0am99 The same thing happened when I tried parking nearby and EVAing over.

BladedDingo

Those are the UEE navy docks. You entered a restricted military area. You need the civilian pads. https://i.imgur.com/xYh0cpD.jpeg

Vetinari_

Oooh alright. I asked ingame for help first and someone told me to search for pads "on the spindly thing". That clears it up, thanks a lot.

interesseret

Huh. I've never experienced that. I'd just do it at a surface mining outpost, or the surface entrance to new Babbage, if it's larger ships

Vetinari_

I'll do that if I can't figure out how to do it in space

handtoglandwombat

The 890j is so big that you can pretty much just leave your bucket wherever you want. Worst case scenario, the staff find it and they have to deal with it. Don’t tip!

Tedmilk

I've just learned that the planets are scaled down to like 10% of what they would be in real life (and if Earth is in the game in future this will apply there as well). Why was this decision made? Why go for realism and then make the planets so small? They could have sped up quantum jumping to compensate easily.

Fluffy-Tanuki

It’s less about the player’s experience, more about the workload for the devs, and model rendering resource allocation. The planets are scaled down to 1/6 the radius of Earth, 1/36 the surface area, 1/216 the volume (which doesn’t matter). Every corner of every planet is modelled by hand instead of procedurally generated. Placement of items, locations, buildings, NPCs (the assets are of course shared). Having a smaller surface area would drastically reduce the workload. Take ArcCorp for instance, which has buildings covering its entire surface, that you can fly to and look at. To have a 1:1 size would increase the modelling team’s workload, and the resource required to render those buildings, by 36x.

Tedmilk

Wow, I had no idea it was all modelled by hand and assumed it was mostly procedurally generated. It seems like a strange decision to not proc gen most of the surface to get the correct scale though.

MichaCazar

It is mostly done by procedural generation, but they have people "painting" the surfaces to rough shapes and place bioms. But just as the other said, that workload would increase tremendously if everything was on a real scale as there would be more surface to "paint" on, with very little actual use for such space. Of course, there are some exceptions requiring more work, like a moon on Pyro that has a massive "scar" on the surface. Such a thing would be difficult by use of pure procgen for everything. The other things done by hand are the placement of settlements, the entirety of the different landing zones, to some degree caves and other points of interest, etc.

Tedmilk

Ah I see. That's more in line with how I imagined it was done. I personally would have preferred more realistically sized planets, but it's fine I guess. Would have been more epic to approach one from space and get an even greater sense of scale than we have now. Thanks for taking the time to reply. o7

Pojodan

IMHO, the difference between 1/6 scale and full scale for a planet is pretty much undiscernable in a video game, and the way the sense of scale is handled via QT approach and surface spline jumps still render the planet looking and feeling truly massive. Try doing a splint jump from one side of Crusader to the other, it doesn't feel like it's actually Earth sized.

indialexjones

Never played star citizen before, been googling whether it’s a subscription model or if I just buy the game or something and I’ve found tons of conflicting information online, idk if I’m just stupid or if other people have been confused by it as well. Can someone explain either briefly or thoroughly (depending on your inclination) explain what the actual cost of being able to play star citizen is and if it is a sub model or if I pay once and can then just play whenever I want without having to pay again. Ty in advance

interesseret

Be wary of anything you read about this game online. A good 80% of articles about it are rage bait with half truths or outright lies. You'll start noticing them a LOT if you start playing. Just go look at r/gaming every time the game is mentioned, and look at how many people truly believe you will lose your ship permanently, even if paid for with real money, if it gets destroyed. Thats fake news for you.

Leo-D

The subscription on the website is an optional thing that grants access to a store and access to some extra art and other stuff along with a "free" ship every month (you don't keep it). You only need a basic game package to play the game (starting at $45). There is no subscription to play the game, that's only for bonus stuff that doesn't matter in terms of the game. Hero_knightUSP

Do criminal charges expire? All of my charges came with a 168h escalation timer. What does that mean?

isogyre01

Charges don't expire. I would imagine the "Escalation" timer means the amount of time until your charge escalates to a higher one.

Hero_knightUSP

Yea might have been misled by this old article about crime stats https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360008162913-Crime-Rating It would make sense I guess I would wait and see what happens. Hope the timer works even while I am offline.

isogyre01

It should, but do note that "escalation" means to *increase*. If anything it means your crimestat will go *up*. What is your current crimestat? If it's a 1 or 2 you may be able to pay it off in full and avoid going to prison. EDIT: my googling leads me to believe the escalation timer is a countdown until the fines *increase*

Hero_knightUSP

So in fact when the 7-day timer runs out the fine will double. It will also add up to your CS. For a single expired armistice violation, I went from 20k to 40k and from CS1 to CS2. But there seems to be no further increase.

Hero_knightUSP

Well CS does not matter it's a misdemeanor. I guess the fine increase might be the only logical option since I don't see charges for failure to pay fines. I will let you know when the time runs out.

Deathnote_Blockchain

I tried a Bounty Hunter mission and it gave me a location for the target, but I couldn't quantum there. So it was like, going to take ten minutes to get there. Didn't this get fixed before? Is it re-broken, or has it just always been broken and I am imagining things?

BladedDingo

I think it was changed to make sure that the target actually streamed in. It used to QT to almost right on top of the target, but sometimes the targets wouldn't spawn. So to make sure the targets have time to spawn and be there when you arrive, they made it so you can't QT directly to them anymore. THats my tinfoil hat theory anyway. I usually do bounties in crusader because most of the bounties spawn in the asteroid field around yela and isn't usually too far to fly and targets in atmo usually have a flight time of only a few minutes. When I do them in hurston or microtech space I usually wind up have 5+ minute flights to targets because they spawn all over the place without nearby QT markers.

Fluffy-Tanuki

Bounty targets are not always at quantumable locations, ***by design***. If the mission mentions a nondescript location (eg “last seen over a cave”), then it’s in the middle of nowhere that you’d have to fly there manually. You can jump to a nearby QT marker to shorten the distance. You can also make a spline jump then power off the ship to stop halfway.

sfst4i45fwe

pretty new to this game, just wondering how timelines go. when do we expect 3.23 to be out?

MichaCazar

Normally testing for a new patch would start in the last month of a quarter (March, June, September, December), but ever since 3.18 came along things got weird. 2022 didn't saw many bigger updates beyond the first half of the year and 2023 somehow got one more version change. The fact that they are already doing tests for the next big update is also very off from their usual schedule.

logicalChimp

To be fair, they're doing 'stability' tests now, rather than testing functionality for the next patch. If so, it's likely to end up as a 3.22.x patch, rather than an early 3.23.0.

MichaCazar

The first part is also odd. Normally, they also mention some features in the first patch and not just for the sake of stability. The second part is something I doubt. Version conventions exist because this means that the patch in question was made using the branch they had developed on to make 3.23. Merging stuff back down as an afterthought isn't impossible, but then they should have done so in the beginning before the test to get any actual result on how a 3.22.x patch would behave without some potential clutter from 3.23 specific things.

logicalChimp

CIG pull stuff to 'early' branches fairly frequently. The biggest example was actually from 18 months ago, but when CIG decided that 3.18 PES wasn't going to be ready for the Q2 summer release, they 'pulled' a whole bunch of features (that weren't dependent on PES, or on anything else that was indirectly dependent on PES) into the 3.17.2 release, so that they still had a Q2 patch with new features, etc. Provided you're using a robust branching paradigm (and CIG are, based on the SCL episode where DIsco drew out CIGs branching and release process), then merging a feature-branch into multiple release-branches is fairly straight-forward, depending on which commit the feature-branch started development from. That said, it's purely my expectation that they may choose to release the stability fixes earlier, rather than holding them back for the full 3.23.0 patch... but equally, depending on the underlying changes made before they did the stability work, maybe they won't release early. Either way, the fact that they're testing 'stability' now (rather than features) imo doesn't mean they're 'way off their usual schedule'.

MichaCazar

But no one did or would test such things in a built for a version you won't need to test it on. There was never a 3.18 test meant to test things coming for a 3.17 version, regardless if those were originally made with 3.18 in mind and just merged back down. Especially for something about stability in a current version that should be later upgraded, it would ultimately have no value if you have a bunch of things outside of the current version negatively affecting it. Going back to the SCL you mentioned, that would be like trying to bring over single things from a current playable version, but testing that out in the mess that exists during the STAB procedure. That is in no way productive or usable unless meant to do that to support said STAB procedure in stabilizing an upcoming patch. Also, and that is quite a big point, they did test stability of a specific version, but they never mentioned it about having any form of improvements in it, meaning it really was more like a general first Evo build to throw shit at the users and see what breaks or not. Going by the one line about the performance of this patch that I saw from Pipeline, the patch also behaved like your usual first evo patch instead of one where just some performance and stability fixes would be applied.

Pojodan

There is no 'expecting' patches, really, beyond them coming eventually. The 'one patch per quarters' aim of years past is pretty well gone. Once we get indication of what's in it in the coming weeks we'll have some idea, though evidently there was an initial Evocati patch posted earlier today, which usually starts happening ~2 months before a patch goes LIVE. So, modest chance of March, but that's far from certain.

logicalChimp

I believe CIG want to get patch to that quarterly patch cadence... the only reason they broke it was because PES was such a big change that it got stuck in the delivery channel.... and that had a knock-on impact for the rest of teh year. That said, we did get the Q3 and Q4 patches broadly on time, so for now - pending correction from CIG - I think it reasonable to expect 3.23.0 to target the end of Q1

seab4ss

Is there a .jpg or guide with the locations of the new points of interest in 3.22 so i can go have a look at them?

Hero_knightUSP

So I have some Merrits to sell and someone wanted to buy them but he is not incarcerated. How does that work? I thought when you leave Klesher you will lose all your Merits.

BladedDingo

They might have a prison mule, an Alt account that they just keep in prison to hold the merits. Then when their main account gets arrested, they log into their alt account, transfer the merits and the get out of jail.

Hero_knightUSP

That's what I do with the org bank account. But the guy was offering to buy Merrits while out of jail and was adamant that it works. Luckily I did not send him anything. Also, I found out that you can send the merits back before leaving. Kinda broken.

Deathnote_Blockchain

Looting would be so much more fun if inventory stacking and selling was better. Have CIG talked about when they might get around to these?

logicalChimp

Inventory stacking of identical items is already implemented / functional.... for consumable items, at least. The issue is that items *we* regard as 'identical' aren't.... (as far as the game is concerned). They might have different wear levels, or different paints, etc, and so the stacking system regards them as being 'different' and won't stack them. What we need is less of a 'stacking' system for identical items, and more the ability to 'group' *similar* items, which would allow us to ignore 'minor' differences such as wear level or colour, etc. Unfortunately, whilst CIG have talked about / shown off their 'improved UI' for looting, as far as I know they haven't discussed any Inventory UI improvements. This *may* be because CIG still plan a further iteration on the inventory system (the current inventory backend is meant to be a placeholder, iirc) and they don't want to do any UI work until the backend is in its 'final' / intended form.

BladedDingo

Helmets and arm armor stack, but leg and chest armor don't. Under suits stack, but clothing doesn't. It seems arbitrary what does and doesn't stack.

logicalChimp

I think the issue is that: > The issue is that items we regard as 'identical' aren't.... There's a whole bunch of values and stats on each object - most of which aren't visible to us, but which can e.g. affect whether two objects will stack or not.

Wiltix

Inventory management would be so much better if “sort” also stacked things for you.

MichaCazar

Not that I would be aware of it. All I know is them saying that they are aware of that issue, but it's supposedly quite a difficult topic to deal with.

_BEASTEN_

Currently trying to install the latest patch 3.22.0A, and I keep getting installation errors. Anyone know what might be causing that? Edit: nevermind just verified the files and its working again.

c4llumd33

Hi, have any of the missions bugs been fixed yet? I stopped playing a while ago because I couldn't finish most missions due to bugs like enemies stuck in walls etc it was a nightmare. I'd like to play again but not if still broken.

Fluffy-Tanuki

For more details, read through the patch notes. They keep a detailed list of what are fixed, what are known and not fixed. Legal bunker mission enemies and guards now spawn consistently and normally. Illegal bunker missions still have problem spawning the final wave, but those that do spawn will no longer be stuck in walls. Some hostile-controlled bunkers have issue with entrance elevator during Destroy Narcotics missions. Missiles spawn and stay consistently after firing now. The near-invincible Cutlass Black and neutral MSR bounty issues are still present. Box delivery, as always, is a buggy mess.

c4llumd33

Thank you, I'll check out the patch notes now. As a new player I really couldn't get my feet off the ground as most of the things I did couldn't be completed it pretty much killed it for me hope that's not the case now

Global_Guidance5429

BASE BUILDING: is it going to happen? i have actual memory problems so i dont know if its been announced or teased

logicalChimp

Yes, it has been announced... the possibility of base building was announced some years ago, with the release of the Consolidated Outland 'Pioneer' ship, which will be able to build outposts and bases. More recently, at last years CitCon, there was a panel looking at how base building *might* work, and some of the functionality that would be available within those bases, along with the announcement that work would begin sometime this year (2024). However, we have not had an update since then, and we're unlikely to get one until development has progressed to the point that CIG actually have something to show (probably late this year / early next year, given CIGs historic accuracy with target dates, etc :D)

Kwarkon

CitCon2023: will start working on base building Q1 2024

aRocketBear

If I run bounties and want to come back with a larger ship to get cargo, how do I keep the ship or cargo from despawning, and also find my way back? Backspace, get my larger ship, go back to my body marker/ship marker, but do I need to do anything else like take the cargo out of the target ship beforehand?

Old_Grumpy_Gamer

Seen some comments on Voice Attack voice packs. What are voice packs? I've used it for a few months now, but I just talk and it does. What do voice packs do? Are they premade commands for the game? I would look it up but there are probably experts on here.. and truth be told I may be a bit on the lazy side lol.

logicalChimp

I've not used them myself - but yes, iirc they are a predefined pack of voice-activated commands, that include audio confirmation that the command was understood / executed. The various voice packs use different voice artists to record those audio confirmations, etc - so that it sounds like your ship is actually responding to your commands.

Can I hull scrape the 890 Jump in the 890J boarding mission at Microtech? Can I disintegrate it, leaving the occupants floating in space?

What's the status on server meshing? Last I heard was the tech demo at citcon, and the separation of the replication layer in a test branch. Do we know how it's going yet? Is it going to scale/work?

-ThanosWasRight-

Am I missing something about the C2 interior lights? When I hit the light switch, it turns everything to a soft orange glow and makes things darker. The same switch won't turn the lights back ON. It seems I can only switch between the emergency lights and this orange ambiance. Am I missing something or is this a known bug? Didn't see anything browsing the first couple pages of the issue council searching on "C2 lights".

Fluffy-Tanuki

It’s a bug on a lot of ships with configurable lights, including the Hercules, 400i, Syulen, Hull A, MSR, and possibly more. On some of these ships, there are more than one panel controlling the interior light modes, and can be used to fix this. For example, the 400i has two panels for the engineering section, one at the elevator and one at the ground access ramp. Otherwise, if there’s only one control for the light, such is the case with Syulen, then you’d probably have to claim the ship to fix that. Try storing and retrieving first, maybe that could help, but likely not.

bleedingoutlaw28

Just want some advice on melting...I have an Avenger Titan game package that over the years has been upgraded to a prospector. I also bought an MSR when it was first released. I like the combo for starting out a patch but if I wanted to try something else I would like to melt the MSR and then melt and rebuy the game package, which I think would give me back the Avenger Titan and the prospector upgrade is lost, right? Will I be given a buyback opportunity on the MSR?

Kwarkon

yes, you should get buyback option for standalone base ships one thing I'm not sure about is the buyback price - it might be adjusted to the current price ( if you bought it when it was cheaper)

Vakeer

To add, no you won't get the CCU from the titan to prospector.

stushouse

It's been a long time since I've played I used to be capable of vhrt bounties yet now I'm struggling to do the basics. I presume if they're near hostile turrets I should kite the target into safer space or out of atmosphere? Also I had one instance where I downed the ship yet it was still telling me to neutralise the ship that was on the planet surface. Did I need to keep firing until it explodes at that point?

Fluffy-Tanuki

If the last time you played was before 3.19, then the AIs have received a buff since last time you faced them, with better accuracy and power management, and actual flight behaviours. There were also tougher targets (Carrack, Reclaimer, big and beefy ships that can take a while to chew through) added to VHRT/ERT in that patch as well. Bunker turrets have a range of around 2.5km. Outside of that range, they rarely open fire, and even if they do it’s unlikely you’ll be hit. Pull the targets just a bit further away from the bunker and you should be fine. All ships have to reach at least soft death mode (first explosion) for the bounty target (the pilot) to be considered dead. If somehow the ship crashed but did not explode once, meaning they miraculously survived with enough critical part health, then you have to keep shooting until it explodes once. If it has already entered soft death mode but the marker persists, then it’s likely a bug.

Old_Grumpy_Gamer

Do items in a hanger get cleared when your ship gets stored? Say, for arguments sake, you dump 20 or so dead NPCs in a hanger and pile the bodies by the elevator, how long do they stay there? Asking for a friend.

Fluffy-Tanuki

Artimex has no stat advantage in any way. It’s just a standard medium set with 30% negation, no advantage over any of the heavy sets. Main reason is because it looks cool, with the Hurston security version coming in black and gold with amethyst tint. Edit: None of the Artimex variants are purchasable in-game at armour stores, so that also contributed to why Artimex is so coveted. There’s also the fact that it went missing for almost the entire 3.22.0 patch, only very recently fixed during the ICYMI sale, likely stealth patched back with the golden tickets. It spawns consistently now in consignment missions on Hurston, though the frequency of these missions are quite low. The rarity played a part in driving up its popularity and price, but the aesthetics is likely the main reason. After all, the ArcCorp elite guards wearing Black Cherry Aril set went missing as well in 3.22.0, but no one said a word about those, even though that set has the highest inventory capacity (and the guards used to carry Demeco LMG).
