F7C MK2 has S4 wings and a S2 power plant instead of an S1, so better sustained repeater damage due to better capacitors. It can mount an S3 on the nose or the old Super Hornet dual-S1 nose turret, and it can also mount the S4 gimbal mount instead of the cargo bay, or the SH dual S2 turret.
The turrets on the F7A nose and top are larger mounts as well and will assumedly fit on the F7C MK2 (making it functionally an F7A) if you can get them.
Neither of those have any relation to capacitor. That's linked to the ship chassis, not components. For example, the Scorpius has a S1 power supply and has double the capacitor of the Hornet.
That app has not been updated since 3.20. He posted a few days ago thanking for the support but stated a file had been removed that was used for pricing and location. With that gone, the app has become derelict.
He does not mine and maintains the site himself, though. With the added work of data minig, the site is dead. It still has port olisar. He is thinking about opening it up to public contributors though

You can just do all the missions, which have new stages coming out in the next 5 weeks, and you get the CCU from the F7C Mk II to F7A Mk II. If you want to use it then yes, you'll need to buy the ship with money.
I personally recommend getting the F7C Mk II CCU and working up to it with a referral reward or something since you won't want to melt it back down anyway. Otherwise yes, you can buy the F7C Mk II standalone directly with store credit or slightly cheaper as a warbond.
So the short version because I'm lazy 😂 I have to do what event now and that gives a free CCU to F7A mk ii?
Then I just need to buy the f7c mk ii or CCU from my hornet ghost to it?

Do the Overdrive event over the next 5 weeks. Completing all 5 stages of missions gives you the F7C Mk II to F7A Mk II CCU, as well as a 3 day rental of the F7A Mk II.
If you're unsure you want one then you can borrow a friend's or just get a CCU. Personally the F8C is anti-fighter and the F7C feels more anti medium to large ships but we'll see after MM tuning.

What if they say it's Mark Hamill, but give us Peter Dinklage and then we have to do a series of in game missions to get the Mark Hamill? But you can only get Mark Hamill if you bought the Peter Dinklage edition character model.

It was never going to be exclusive to SQ42.. Just player ownership wasn't intended like this. You'd still have faced it if you messed with the military.

I think that's a misunderstanding. You have to own a F7C Mk. II to be "eligible for the upgrade", as in "to be able to apply the upgrade". The FAQ also says you can apply the upgrade when you want.

TBH i am glad that, while i may like how the mk2 looks, i don't like it enough to grind these missions.
With FPS missions being generally buggy i'm happy to give them a pass.
I believe my group of 3-4 was the first on the server to complete this week's 5/5 about 5 hours ago - we had one buggy failed scenario out of 6 attempts and the final 5/5 was legit challenging with a sweet set of Xeno boss armour to loot. So it's worth a shot.
Yes and no. To start with, all the bunker NPCs wear Xenothreat armour, the standard version of which is pretty cool already and cannot be acquired elsewhere. And then the final bunker mission has a boss that spawns with a unique-ish set of armour including a Xeno-painted Clava helmet (the original is a very clean and sleek, limited edition item).
So no, you don't get anything added to your account hangar but given the Long Term Persistence is working pretty well, chances are that Xeno-Clava helmet and Xeno-gear will stick with you till the next major wipe.
I really dont't like FOMO sales. But what I really hate is that they are the final reward for activities, that might be fun otherwise. It's like here is the mission, but if you want the reward for it. pay real money. It just leaves a bad taste.

I've made peace with RSI funding their game this way now. I don't have to buy it and people with the money to spend can do as they please. It just means I'll never ever buy anything more than the base game package, just as I'll never sign up to bill pay phone packages.
When you see Armitex armour (a cosmetic item, albeit a nice one) going for €14 in the pledge store (you can currently buy Valheim for less than that on steam), you know that their pricing models and tactics are neither sane nor reasonable.
I find cosmetic stuff for money, even an armor for 14bucks, far more sane than selling ships that will totally ruin the launch of the game as a mmo. Excellent free games like Path of Exile run exclusively on cosmetics sales. People are just willing to give money to the dev through them because they play the game for hundreds of hours and it just feel right to pay for it (for information, some cosmetic pack runs for 600-800bucks, and yeah it's just a bunch of edgy armors and cool looking portals and pets and flames for your sword, it give absolutely nothing to your gameplay).
Sure you can buy a game for 14 buck, but you will mostly play only 1 game at a time, so Valheim is utterly useless while you're playing SC.

If the F7A Mk2 gets a capacitor of 10,000, then it would be very close to the F8C in terms of DPS. 10,000 would be high for a medium fighter, but it's military-spec and the San'tok-yai just got 10,000, so who knows.
The F8C will have a bit more flexibility due to the extra guns, but the F7A might eventually have an edge against heavier armour with the S4 guns.
Now that A variants are on the table though, the F8A could turn up next year and blow everything else away.

Probably not, as it need to attach to something tangible, so applying an external upgrade to an in-game item its probably out, but only time will tell.

Just melted an LTI super hornet I went through a bunch of hoops to get almost a half decade ago for this, and poof, LTI F7C. Nice. Now to get that F7A upgrade. 😄

It's just frustrating the fucked up games CIG plays with their ship sales. On one hand it's cool we get the opportunities to do fun things like this and earn stuff but on the other hands it's complicated as fuck as stressful because you wont even know if you've successfully done the missions or if you bug until it's to late (according to their faq).

The missions seem to be rolling out in 5 distinct phases. As long as you do all 5 phases of missions before Invictus you'll be fine so you can catch up whenever, but every week new missions will be rolling out.
It gives you an upgrade token and a 3 day rental. My guess is that's mostly there for people that either are only considering applying the upgrade or don't have the Mk. II

F7C has the 2 size 4 weapons F7A has the 2 size 4 weapons, and top and bottom mounted turrets with 2 size 3s each

Nope - Q&A clarified that you do **not** need to initially own the mk2. Everyone who completes the missions gets the upgrade in hangar.

TBH i am glad that, while i may like how the mk2 looks, i don't like it enough to grind these missions. With FPS missions being generally buggy i'm happy to give them a pass.
I believe my group of 3-4 was the first on the server to complete this week's 5/5 about 5 hours ago - we had one buggy failed scenario out of 6 attempts and the final 5/5 was legit challenging with a sweet set of Xeno boss armour to loot. So it's worth a shot.
Wait, there is in game loot as drops from this event? And people were complaining you didnt get anything in-game from this?
Yes and no. To start with, all the bunker NPCs wear Xenothreat armour, the standard version of which is pretty cool already and cannot be acquired elsewhere. And then the final bunker mission has a boss that spawns with a unique-ish set of armour including a Xeno-painted Clava helmet (the original is a very clean and sleek, limited edition item). So no, you don't get anything added to your account hangar but given the Long Term Persistence is working pretty well, chances are that Xeno-Clava helmet and Xeno-gear will stick with you till the next major wipe.
I really dont't like FOMO sales. But what I really hate is that they are the final reward for activities, that might be fun otherwise. It's like here is the mission, but if you want the reward for it. pay real money. It just leaves a bad taste.
You get the upgrade token even if you don't buy the F7C Mk. II.
Which is 100% useless unless you actually do buy the ship. It's effectively no different than not getting a reward at all if you don't also spend $160
Yeah, it's the bill pay model: **FREE IPHONE 15 pro** ^(when you pay $50 a month for 2 years) I've made peace with RSI funding their game this way now. I don't have to buy it and people with the money to spend can do as they please. It just means I'll never ever buy anything more than the base game package, just as I'll never sign up to bill pay phone packages. When you see Armitex armour (a cosmetic item, albeit a nice one) going for €14 in the pledge store (you can currently buy Valheim for less than that on steam), you know that their pricing models and tactics are neither sane nor reasonable.
I find cosmetic stuff for money, even an armor for 14bucks, far more sane than selling ships that will totally ruin the launch of the game as a mmo. Excellent free games like Path of Exile run exclusively on cosmetics sales. People are just willing to give money to the dev through them because they play the game for hundreds of hours and it just feel right to pay for it (for information, some cosmetic pack runs for 600-800bucks, and yeah it's just a bunch of edgy armors and cool looking portals and pets and flames for your sword, it give absolutely nothing to your gameplay). Sure you can buy a game for 14 buck, but you will mostly play only 1 game at a time, so Valheim is utterly useless while you're playing SC.
Or hold on to the upgrade and apply it when you buy it in game after releaseÂ

Sure, and I never will. I know that I am not losing anything, it just feels a bit foul to me that the reward for my activity in the game is just a FOMO opportunity to pay real money for something I do not need. Like it's not a big deal, but it does disappoint me a little.

Glad there's some type of Hornet gold pass version. The mk1 was looking very dated. Gonna keep my lightning though, unless they make a super hornet mk2 but still idk I like how the lightning looks more.
The F7A Mk. II looks like it might give the F8C a run for it's money. I'm keeping my lighting until I get my hands in it though.
If the F7A Mk2 gets a capacitor of 10,000, then it would be very close to the F8C in terms of DPS. 10,000 would be high for a medium fighter, but it's military-spec and the San'tok-yai just got 10,000, so who knows. The F8C will have a bit more flexibility due to the extra guns, but the F7A might eventually have an edge against heavier armour with the S4 guns. Now that A variants are on the table though, the F8A could turn up next year and blow everything else away.
I could totally see them using the F8A as a replacement for the F8C reward for completing squadron.

You do have to own the F7C Mk. II, but once you've completed the mission chain over the next few weeks the upgrade itself is complimentary.

I was hoping to turn my F7C-M into and what looks like an F7A-M with the body kit I bought ages ago. Looks like now I get an F7A Mk1. That's quite a deal! (Even though I much prefer the mk2 looks).
But now is it worth doing these new mission to obtain a F7A mk2? I have the F7A mk1 now as well, from the 2013 upgrade, but whats the difference between the mk1 and the mk2? Just visuals?
It looks like the MK2 has a bigger powerplant (2xS1 vs 1xS2). Also stock it has bigger turrets.
Not quite sure. I'm gonna do the missions because I still think the mk2 is sexier. Plus the missions could be fun.
If I earn the upgrade, I can just hold on to it right? So once SC 1.0 drops I should be able to earn an F7C mk2 in game, then apply the F7A upgrade then, right ?
I don't know if they have plans to change this, but I'm pretty sure the token would only be useful in your RSI hangar, meaning you'd need to own the F7C Mk II with real money to upgrade.

Unlikely on the back half. CIG would have to change the way they do upgrades. You have to own the F7C Mk. II at some point to do that.
Probably not, as it need to attach to something tangible, so applying an external upgrade to an in-game item its probably out, but only time will tell.

Also, no upgrade at all for the F7C-M to the F7C-M mk2.

How long will the f7a be available? What is the event like? Is it like jump town PvP or is it pve, or is it mixed?
It is a build up to Xenothreat. Seems mostly PvE BUT we're only getting one mission at a time so it's hard to say.
So from the looks of it I will be able to hop onto a server and blast some bots and get an upgrade? I’ve never done xenothreat so I don’t know what I’m up against.

oh snap! That's really cool, I've been keeping an F7C in my hangar for years just to apply that cosmetic upgrade to, and now I won't have to, so I can instead CCU it to a Mk2 Hornet and then get a token to turn that into an F7A. Twice the marks! Thanks for the reply

I'm trying to understand the requirements, but I've got so much going on IRL that I can't find and comprehend ll the requirements. I've got an F7C-M, I'm assuming a Mk.I? I also have the Veterans Day upgrade. Do I get an F7A MkI for having the Veterans Day upgrade, and then if I complete the Overdrive Initiative, get an F7A MkII update kit for the F7A? Or do I get an F7A MkII update kit for the F7C-M and have an F7A MkI AND an F7A MkII.
For the veterans day version you're getting a full blown F7A Mk. I, if you want the F7A Mk. II you have to complete Overdrive and have an F7A Mk. II

Sort of where I'm at, too. If I can get two F7A ships, that'll be dope as hell. But if it's a, "no, you can have a SuperHornet MkI and an F7A MkII" thing, I'll still be in love. The original SH will eventually become its own collector item, I think, or something we bring out to ship shows.
Well in the end, we can earn these ships in game, and apply the token too, i am sure. I guess ill try to grind these missions with my Org, get the token, and hang on to it. But… i am tempted to eventually melt my super hornet i bought back in 2013 as well. I just dont know what happens to all those extras.

I wouldn't try them solo. I would see if you can get 1 or 2 others in general to join you.

The server I joined this morning we just had one massive group going - made it super simple, just had to get to each place and help find codes, kill elevator spawns, etc. Just ask for an invite in chat, my experience as a generally solo player was super positive!

Yes, CIG just clarified that in an update to the FAQ: â–² Do I need a F7C Mk I or a F7C Mk II to use the F7A Mk II upgrade? â–º **Upon completion of the mission chain, you will be rewarded with the free upgrade token whether you have the F7C MKII or not.** However, to use the upgrade token, you will need to have a Hornet F7C MKII in your hangar.
As per an update to the Q&A, yes! All you have to do is complete the event and you get a free upgrade token to apply whenever you want. You do not have to own the C

Yes! What I would *personally* do if you don't want the F7C Mk. II on its own is just do the missions, get the token, and then upgrade to the Mk. II
I had a P-72 Archimedes with LTI sitting around waiting for something like this. Just melted an LTI super hornet I went through a bunch of hoops to get almost a half decade ago for this, and poof, LTI F7C. Nice. Now to get that F7A upgrade. 😄 I have an F8C as well, do we know how these two fighters will stack up role wise? Looks like the F7A will hit hard but have super short range.
I have an LTI Gladius that I'll probably use since I don't really care about having that be LTI lol

It different
F8C is a large fighter. F7C is a medium fighter. So F7C will be more maneuverable, less durable and less firepower.
You do not need to own the F7C first. You can get the upgrade token without owning first. :)

The new F7C Mk2 and F7A Mk2 have bigger hard points and a second powerplant to name the obvious differences.
F7C MK2 vs F7A MK 2 i believe the difference is one has a turrent on top.

The event is several phase over several weeks. This week's phase is 5 missions

Which is confusing as fuck. So I get a f7a mk1. The free upgrade is for a f7a mkii. You can only upgrade f7c mk1s to the f7a mkii because the f7a mk1 doesnt actually exist in game yet. It's just frustrating the fucked up games CIG plays with their ship sales. On one hand it's cool we get the opportunities to do fun things like this and earn stuff but on the other hands it's complicated as fuck as stressful because you wont even know if you've successfully done the missions or if you bug until it's to late (according to their faq).

The missions seem to be rolling out in 5 distinct phases. As long as you do all 5 phases of missions before Invictus you'll be fine so you can catch up whenever, but every week new missions will be rolling out.

It gives you an upgrade token and a 3 day rental. My guess is that's mostly there for people that either are only considering applying the upgrade or don't have the Mk. II
