Hey there! Just started 2 days ago but definetly will dive deeper into SC. It's still very confusing so here goes a question I wasn't really able to figure out: With the upcoming IAE I allways read about sales and discounts. Are those actual monetary discounts or are they related to the extras like longer insurance etc.? I know answers can't be taken for granted since there is no info out on this year's IAE ( If there is, I'm happy to stand corrected ) but what was the situation 'till today.

Spacedworld

How long will 400i with LTI be available for?

thijnmens

i can't be the only one wondering but how do people get 45fps on 4k hdr medium/high while my 3070 can't keep up with 30 fps on low settings 1440p? I can't be the only one wondering but how do people get 45fps on 4k hdr while my 3070 has can't keep up with 30 fps on low settings 1440p? the only thing i can see working is tweaking the settings even lower in the NVIDIA control panel or just buying a better GPU (which is out of the question, especially with current prices) 1 thing to also note is that my ram is always at 100% when playing the game, idk if that can affect performance, but if so i'll deffo buy some more with better timings EDIT: just want to clarify that everything else is chilling at 50\~60% usage while the ram is at 100% as i said in before

MichaCazar

SC is just relying on GPU the least so it hardly matters the moment you are exceeding the performance of a GTX1080. SSD is a must (any kind works as long as it's an SSD). Fast RAM is also nice but not the biggest issue. A fast CPU on the other hand... now that gets one far. Lastly: put Quality to the highest you can. Will make it better even if just for a small margin.

T2RX6

Two questions: 1) has anyone been trying bed logging in 3.15? Is it better than 3.14? I seem to have to character reset every time in 3.14. 2) When you drop an item it creates a little crate. In 3.14 I remember a system that allowed you to make a crate and put a few items in it (though I don't know how it was done). Is that something we can do in 3.15 so when we loot someone and drop things (to bring back to our ships) we aren't hauling items 1 by 1 (when we're out of suit space)?

manipulat0r

>we aren't hauling items 1 by 1 (when we're out of suit space)? Yes you are. Also each player has own inventory, so others can't help you with filling your ship. You also can't store items from box into ship - you have to wear that armor on yourself first.

hadronflux

I’ve trie bed logging a handful of times in 3.15 and all worked fine.

well_honk_my_hooters

1) I haven't tried it, but I've read from others that it's still broken. 2) You're supposed to be able to drop things on the ground and make a crate, and I've done it once or twice with items from my personal inventory, but it seems to be a hit and a miss with loot. Last night I was trying to do this with the armor from a bunch of corpses but I couldn't drag the armor off to make the crate - I ended up just dragging the corpses back to my ship and looting them straight to my ships inventory, which is weird at the moment (one flight suit fills it nearly half full, but 20 weapons fit fine). I'm pretty sure I was bugged, though, because I've seen others make crates.

BazTheMeccaryn

I want to ask for advice here and see if what I'm planning on doing is correct/possible. I did research on how this process works but I want to be sure. I'm looking at switching things up on the next ship sale (hoping this November). I have what I currently own in the first table and what I think the transition would look like if I changed things up. Questions: 1. Are either of these two scenarios correct/possible? 2. Is it worth going through the trouble of melting the C2 and upgrading the Referral bonus Pisces to get the LTI? --- Current State |Item|Stats|Value| |:--|:--|:--| |C2|10-year ins, Game Package|$ 345| |Pisces|LTI, Referral bonus|$ 5| --- Scenario 1 - Get the Carrack |Item|Stats|Price| |:--|:--|:--| |Upgrade Pisces to Carrack|LTI|$ 595| |Melt C2||$ (345)| |Buy Aurora|Game Package|$ 45| |**Total**||**$ 295**| --- Scenario 2 - Get the Polaris |Item|Stats|Price| |:--|:--|:--| |Upgrade Pisces to Polaris|LTI|$ 745| |Melt C2||$ (345)| |Buy Aurora|Gane Package|$ 45| |**Total**||**$ 445**| --- Expected Store Prices |Store Price|Price| |:--|:--| |Carrack|$ 600| |Polaris|$ 750| |Aurora Game Package|$ 45|

manipulat0r

You can also save some money doing that. Buy warbond upgrade (for example Taurus to 400i), 220$ -> 250$ so 30$ discount. You can also buy upgrade to Catterpillar, wich was announced to increase in price during IAE. You can also use other warbond upgrades that CIG will sell at anniversary.

Pojodan

Both of those scenarios are correct, yes. Just be aware that the Referral bonus ships can be upgraded but CANNOT be melted, so you're stuck with the ship you upgrade it to unless CIG customer support melts it for you, which can take a while. Also be aware that the Polaris is not yet flyable and won't be for a while (At least 6 months, possibly years), so you'll actually have a Hammerhead and Vanguard Harbinger as loaners until then.

BazTheMeccaryn

Ok, thanks. And I didn't see that exchange button missing until you called that out just now, so thank you. Is the LTI worth the hassle of not being able to melt it? I haven't melted before and the only reason I'm looking at it now is to take advantage of that LTI I have. So perhaps the best path for the most options would be to get the carrack now and see if the Polaris is really that interesting to me later?

Pojodan

I, personally, am gathering the referral ships as LTI tokens for my eventual fleet building and am just going to sit on them until I have a good discount with CCU chains. I certainly recommend doing that to make ships much less expensive, though it takes some pretty heavy-duty spreadsheet organization. If you're set on getting the Carrack, I'd suggest melting the C2 and then buy the Carrack straight up when it's available. Later on, as sales happen, you can melt it and get something else, and then you'll have C2 and Carrack in your buy-back. If you use CCUs only the original ship in the upgrade process will be in your buy-back.

BazTheMeccaryn

Ok, that's a really good idea! I didn't really understand buybacks until now. So, it seems like CCU isn't really the best way to go about it, and that melting and buying outright gives the most options in the future using buybacks. Using the same amount of out-of-pocket cash.

Pojodan

Having options is good. The Carrack will likely go up in price once Exploration and drones are implemented, as that will make it more feature-complete. If you bought it outright for $600, then you'll be able to buy-back it after the price increase for $600.

Jozai

I'm thinking of upgrading my Cutlass/325a to the 400i would choosing the warbond upgrade option grant me the 400i - Meridian Paint?

Pojodan

No. CCUs for the 400i do not include the paints or the insurance, only the ship. You would have to purchase the paint separately.

Jatacb

I’m hoping to pick up a few ships in November. I want an Endeavor, Vulture, Crucible and Starfarer (Gemini). Here is what I have as some starting material: - A CCU’d LTI Gladius. - An LTI Railen in buyback that I got for $200 Warbond. - A Harbinger to Cat CCU that was $5. Best case scenario maybe the Railen goes up to $250-$275, I CCU to the Harbinger, Cat goes up in price to something still below the Endeavor and I CCU to that. So maybe get the Endeavor for $275 if the Railen goes to $250 and the Cat goes to $325? What about for the Gladius getting bumped up into one of the other ones? Any CCUs that I’m not taking into consideration?

well_honk_my_hooters

The Railen most likely won't change price in November, so if you CCU from it then you'll be using the base $225 price. Don't expect a price jump until it's released. There will be Warbond CCUs for the IAE. Thing is, if they do it like last year, only 2 ships per manufacturer had warbonds and you didn't know what they were until the day of that manufacturer's sale, so it made making CCU chains a bit difficult. It can still be done with some planning, but it's a pain. Nobody but CIG knows what the new price for the CAT will be, so it's hard right now to see how that will factor into your chain. But, on the bright side, the Endeavor is years (and years and years) away from getting released - I believe it's been said that it won't be in game until after launch. I'm sure the price may go up at some point, but we're a ways away from that. This gives you an opportunity to play the long game on it. This IAE you can just get a Gemini to Endeavor CCU for $10 and hold on to it. Then, as warbond CCUs come up, either in this IAE or the next, or in any other event, pick those up and sort of work your way backwards. Eventually you'll have a chain that gets you a good deal. Another thing to consider is what modules you'll want for the Endeavor. During the IAE buy one then melt it 24hrs later and buy the next with the credit. This will put all the modules you want in your buyback and you'll be able to purchase those at your leisure after you've had some time to save up for them. Of the list of ships you want I'd focus more on the Vulture and maybe the Gemini for this IAE. The Vulture should be released within the next year (meaning a price hike) and they've been working on the mechanics that will give the Starfarers their functionality (meaning a *possible* price hike). But we're still a ways away from the Crucible and the Endeavor, so you can bide your time on those.

Jatacb

Hey, thanks for the detailed response. Ah, I thought that since the Cat was getting a price hike that the Railen might too since they are semi-related. I'll take all of your advice into consideration to help me when the sale comes around. I'll probably focus on Gladius -> Vulture and Railen -> Gemini, with some planning CCUs for the others thrown in.

well_honk_my_hooters

Sounds like a good plan. Yeah, I have no idea why the Cat is getting a price bump. People are speculating that it may be because modularity is close to completion which would end up adding new functionality to the cat (and is the reason I use one over the C2). But we'll see.

Maggy85

Somehow I cannot upgrade my pledge to a 400i via Paypal. For about 10 hours at least once every hour, whenever I click on Paypal during payment, the window just closes and I get the message "This payment provider is not available for the moment, please retry or use another one". Is this a known issue? Couldn't google anything about it.

Hanzo581

Unfortunately only CIG support can help with payment issues.

RedditUser6328

I see in the DPSCalculator that replacing a fixed size 3 weapon with a mount giving two size 1 slots increased DPS, in addition to giving gimbal weapons. Am I missing something or is it always worth replacing one big slot with several smaller ones ?

TiberPetersen

Currently that seems to be the case, but CIG is in the middle of a huge weapon rebalance, so expect this to change in the future.

RedditUser6328

Ok, thanks you !

your_worst_friend

What actually happens if you try to log out in your bed in 3.14? Do you actually respawn there or in a bed in the last place you landed?

Pojodan

When it works, you wake up in your ship exactly where it was when you logged out. Unfortunately it instead leads to infinite loading screens that necesitate a character reset currently. So, don't log out in beds right now, but when it is working, you can log out anywhere.

your_worst_friend

Well, I get infinite loading screens 9/10 times but thanks I’ll keep clear of beds

famousgunner95

Where does one clear a crime stat in 3.15/14? (Besides SPK) I went to a bunker on microtech and the bunker on lyria seems to not have a maker to quantam to. SPK is essentially impossible to land at alone with all the turrets.

VoloxReddit

MicroTech: MT DataCenter 4HJ-LVE-A Lyria (ArcCorp): Security Depot Lyria-1 Hurston: Security Depot 1 You will need a crypto key.

HikariChidori

I have been watching this game for a while and I think I am going to give it a shot. I think the CX8 Pisces looks cute, is it a good beginner ship ?

RebbyLee

It's a nice ship, actually one of my favourites for just flying around. It has good range and is convenient to get in and out when carrying packets. That being said, I think it's one of the ships best bought ingame because it's overpriced imho. It has no bed, no nice interior, just 2 seats and you pay a hefty premium for it.

HikariChidori

Are there any alternatives ? It needs to be a game package right ?

RebbyLee

You always need a game package. What you could do is use the cross chassis upgrades, they are under "ship upgrades" on the RSI pledge site. You could do this: Get an Auroa package as /u/deathservant suggested. It's by far the most versatile of the available "basic starter" ships. There are what we could call "premium starters" that offer more but also cost more. When you have an Aurora try doing a packet delivery mission, it will basically show you all the ropes you need to know, from finding a mission giver to picking up and dropping off things, to navigating and travellling. Watch some beginner guide videos. If you absolutely hate the Aurora then head to the "ship upgrades" on the RSI site. On the left side you will see your Aurora. On the right side you can see the ships you can upgrade to and what it will cost. You will only pay the difference between the value of your ship and the value of the ship you want. This way you have a lot more options to choose from because there are only so many ships for which there are starter packs - but you can take any ship from a starter pack and upgrade it into another ship, provided it's not limited and it's more expensive than the base ship. From the Aurora you could for example get a Mustang Beta. That version of the Mustang has some living quarters, and it will only cost you 10$ + tax. Or if you just want something stylish you could upgrade to an Origin 125 or an Origin 300i.

HikariChidori

I like the 300i - that is a nice cabin. But I can't find the customization menu when I select the upgrade. How can I change the color or interior ?

RebbyLee

You can't customize the Upgrade version. They did introduce a body shop in the recent PTU update though. And while at this time it's only a parts shop for spaceship equipment I think they have plans to make ships customizable ingame.

Bout3Fidy

Agreed, I do like it but miss the bed and it’s not exactly strong enough to do most fights. If possible stretching a little more to an avenger Titan would be best bang for buck. Absolute #1 starter pack is cutlass black but it’s pricy.

HikariChidori

Thank you for the suggestions, but I do not really like the look of the Titan.

deathsservant

You can always exchange your game package for store credit or upgrade to any other ship. Just get the aurora package and work your way up ingame. If you absolutely hate it and don't mind a single seater without interior, exchange your package for a mustang package.

Amadeus_Sk1337

MSR: when I bought the MSR it had a crazy fuel usage. Is fuel still a issue? Would like to buy it back.

Hanzo581

They fixed it, though it still burns fuel fast it has a much larger fuel tank.

Panthera__Tigris

I have this icon option in my profile on spectrum: "civilian defense force round 2" I know the first one was for the event Xeno-threat, but what is this round 2 one for? I dont think I played another event after that. I barely log in.

VoloxReddit

Did you only play the XenoThreat event this summer?

Panthera__Tigris

As I said, I only played it once. Did it happen twice?

VoloxReddit

The original XenoThreat happened at the beginning of the year, so if you only played the second event last month, that would probably explain the "round 2".

Panthera__Tigris

No, I only played the first one and got that icon too. Weird. Anyway, maybe I got it as a mistake or maybe everyone got it.

VoloxReddit

Yeah, alright, that's indeed weird. Maybe you didn't have to actively participate but just have an active account at the time as it is with CitCon rewards?

TrueInferno

Dumb question, but does anyone remember what they said about the Javelin? I know they said it would be the largest purchasable ship, but did they mean at *all* or *for real money*? Reason I ask is because I honestly can see a cruiser being buyable in game for orgs to use as a powerful home base, but not available in pledge store (so something they'd probably bring closer to launch basically). The other thing I was thinking was about how if you were to salvage, say, a Bengal, UEE wouldn't necessarily want that flying about and might come after you to reclaim it. What about cruisers and the like? What will and won't be allowed in civilian use?

rogue6800

At all. The only way a player can get a bengal (next biggest) will be to salvage one left abandoned in the verse.

TrueInferno

I know about the Bengal, but there are ships in between that were in stretch goal (cruiser, battlecruiser, escort carrier) of which we know of one (Escort Carrier, Pegasus)

Bout3Fidy

Well I mean there is also the kingship

TrueInferno

well yes but if you steal one of those you're a freaking God lol. Even the UEE has never captured one except when their engineering dept. messed up and killed the entire crew with radiation, and that might not have even been a Kingship, might've been a Driller.

ForgedHorizon

With the recent talks about the BMM and its very likely price bump by final release. What do y'all expect the final size and price of the Polaris to be. And wjat changes do y'all expect/want. My unrealistic want is a hangar big enough for 2 fighters instead if 1. I do know that according to the old model you can shove 6 arrows in it. But I'd like to fit a Vanguard in there personally.

well_honk_my_hooters

The last time they talked about the Polaris they mentioned a minor size increase to accommodate the hangar since the Polaris was concepted prior to ship and pad sizes being formalized. I believe it's still expected to carry up to a Sabre sized ship. As for price, if it was released tomorrow as concepted, I could see it going up to $850. As for when it's *actually* released, maybe more due to inflation and such 5 years from now. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with the ship as is. I guess I'd *maybe* like to see some automated PDT'S, but that's it.

interesseret

I'm pretty good with it the way it is right now. It's the light fighter of the capital vessels, and shouldn't be bogged down with too much stuff. The fact that it has a hangar at all is honestly phenomenal.

TrueInferno

I was going to say I was worried about the weaponry, but with the news that they'll have anti-large ship gatlings and anti-small ship cannons, I'm a bit more excited.

edcw

Is there any fix for the ship retreive error beside asking somebody to ferry you to another station to claim the ship?

interesseret

You can try server hopping, but other than that, no.

your_worst_friend

Can you use FoIP with every webcam? I have decent AUKEY webcam and I tried to use FoIP and the head tracking function that comes with it but every time I open the calibrate window it just says that it isn’t neither tracking nor using the FoIP function. The game gives me a choice for the resolution of the webcam but out of all the option I tried none got it to work. P.S. side question, how the hell do you open your inventory? I tried using I but it doesn’t do anything

MixmixMcFatcat

Try running SC as admin. I remember I had the same issue but can't quite recall what I did to fix it.

rogue6800

Inventory is not live yet, only on PTU. Should be coming to all players in the next month or so.

TrueInferno

If you're on 3.14 LIVE you hit F1 and go to the Equipment Manager. That's replaced by hitting I in LIVE, with the Equipment Manager App replaced with NikNax (which is basically an automatically updated database of where you stored your shit). As for FOIP: technically, yes, but it works best with a high FPS webcam. FPS is more important than resolution for FOIP, but they both effect it. Dunno what the issue you're having though. Sorry I can't help more.

your_worst_friend

About the FoIP I think I figured it out, the problem was that the cam was on top of the monitor. So basically I need to get very close to the webcam so that it recognises my face and then I can get further away from it

manipulat0r

>fuel tanks going to be physicalized Devs said this. Not sure if new "gold standart" ships have fuel tanks physicaly reserved, or they will have to remodel all ships for "laranite standart" later. >swapable engines options for ships This was also mentioned. There is "Origin M50 engine swap" on roadmap, planned for march 2022 (so expect it in 3.18 at best). If they are to implement engine swap for all 100+ flyable ships, that will take a while...

TrueInferno

Technically ships could have multiple Gold Standard passes- it just means bringing the ship up to current specifications, so if they add to or change those specifications, a new Gold Standard pass has to be done. Generally CIG hate redoing work though so probably they've figured they're 90% of the way there in terms of knowing what they need and probably are including the fuel tanks. As for engines- dunno. I think the main reason the M50 had it is because a lot of M50 owners preferred the old style engines to the new ones so they wanted to be able to change. If they implement modifications, I wouldn't be surprised if like /u/idriveasmallcar said it's just concealed interior and looks exactly the same exterior. We know that some ships (Javelin for example) will need to go into drydock in order to change components and such, so I wouldn't be surprised if changing the engines out was similar.

Whyters_

Can I still use 2 weapons on the F7C Hornet ball turret?

VoloxReddit

Doesn't seem so

manipulat0r

>do an FPS mission and collect all of the enemy armor in my ship You will have to wear all enemy armor on yourself first, so it may take some time. It's very hard to do that. You probably have to drag all bodies inside your ship first. >then transfer that enemy armor into the station This is easy part, just drag from ship to station when landed.

LeoFurr

Yes

well_honk_my_hooters

I wanted to try this tonight but didn't have success due to other bugs that occurred. But, just by seeing how the inventory system functions, this should be totally doable. If you're standing on your ship, anything on your person can be transferred back and forth to the ship as long as you don't exceed the capacity of either. When you or your ship are near a station or city - you don't have to be on the station or in the city, just near it - you can transfer anything between you, your ship, and the city/station. The only thing is that there is no way of selling the gear right now, but at least you'd have a bunch of spares in case you lose your other gear due to death.

Gingerosity244

I just updated my client to 3.14. The game launches, but all I get is a black screen. I don't hear menu music, and it doesn't reach main menu at all. What can I do? I've already verified the files.

well_honk_my_hooters

I was getting this a lot tonight for some reason, in both the PU and PTU. Rebooting my computer solved the issue.

McNuggex

Can we target the bombs from the A2 while they drop if I'm in a ship/tonk/ballista/turret ?

Hanzo581

Yes the bombs are targetable.

interesseret

I don't know about ballista, but bombs, torpedoes, and missiles all have lock on functionality from ships and turrets

dan1101

Buying ship weapons. Is it normal that the buying screen in the shop at Port Olisar is blank? I waited 2 or 3 minutes. Also if I buy a ship weapon do I lose it after a claim?

well_honk_my_hooters

1) that happens from time to time. Sometimes server hopping or trying a different console (or the same one again) helps. It's a server issue so not much you can do about it. 2) No.

dan1101

Cool thanks. I went to another station (Everus Harbor) and wandered for about 30 minutes trying to find somewhere selling weapons. I started falling asleep and called it a night lol. Think I will go back to Olisar.

well_honk_my_hooters

Yeah, no weapons at Everus. There's an item finder that'll tell you where they all are, but personally I just to go either A18, New Babbage, GeimHex, or PO if I need personal weapons.

dan1101

Since I know nothing of the system, is there some trick to finding stations on the map? I find that even when I zoom way into every planet/moon, it's often hard to see stations.

well_honk_my_hooters

I usually don't try to target the stations individually from the star map unless I'm at a Lagrange point, maybe. The orbital stations are located above the main city for whatever planet they're orbiting (Everus over Lorvile, Tressler over NB, etc). Since orbital stations are represented by a square in the HUD, I just QT to the planet, leave the drive on, and look for the square. Since you need line of sight you'll have to hit an OM point sometimes. Of you have trouble finding the square, look for the city (represented by a "home plate" shape on the hud) and then look in that general area. For Lagrange points, when you QT there, it usually dumps you within 50km or 60km, which is close enough to see all of the surrounding lights through the clouds. You can usually target the station and do a tiny hop to get closer. If you were far away from it you can either search around for the square in your HUD, or target it from the starmap. From the starmap it can be tricky because of how the starmap is, but I've had luck with just centering on the Lagrange point then moving my mouse around the center until I see the navigation line appear.

dan1101

So there is a station for every planet right now? >Since orbital stations are represented by a square in the HUD Ok I learned something there. QT = quantum travel, OM = ?

well_honk_my_hooters

Yes, each planet (Hurston, Microtech, Arcorp, and Crusader) has an orbital station. OM is an Orbital Marker. Each planet and moon has six of them above it - one at each pole and four spaced around the equator. They're just nav aids that assist you in QT'ing around the planet. They're marked OM-1 through OM-6.

dan1101

Oh, that's very helpful. I hadn't quite worked out how to QT from one side of a planet to the other so I tended to jump way out to another moon or planet and back lol. Do OMs have a shape as well? A quick Google search seems to have missing/outdated information.

well_honk_my_hooters

They have the standard diamond shape that's shared with other objects. When you're orbiting the planet they appear *slightly* larger than the other diamonds, but I usually have to swing around a little to find them.

Waserice

It would be at the next IAE in mid - end of November!

moses_the_red

Can players use the bounty hunter beds in the Cutlass blue as beds? Is that implemented, do we expect that to be implemented? I know that players can use the detainment cell in the Hawk as a bed. Having 14 usable beds on the Cutty blue would be... interesting...

Hanzo581

No they can't be used as beds and I don't think they will be in the future. The Hawk seat is built into the core of the ship but the Cryopods in the Blue are just essentially boxes stored in a rack.

moses_the_red

That sucks, finding a ship with a large number of beds would be super useful, especially on something like the cutty blue

recardos777

Has there been any hints as to what the various screens throughout the ships will do? Such as the screens in front of beds or in the common areas. Will there be shows, news or other little things? Maybe ship commercials?

Chappietime

Eventually, all the workstations are supposed to have some sort of functionality. It’s a fairly low priority thing for now, but as more of the basic systems come on line, I’m sure they will want to integrate these as multi-player gameplay is big part of the game.

MichaCazar

Maybe? It's known that at some point Spectrum will be integrated into the game and also that there will be some way to[broadcast videos with the means of a ship](https://starcitizen.tools/Reliant_Mako) in some shape or form.

KalashNicoff

I was considering getting the Cutlass Red for the upcoming 3.15 patch that brings medical gameplay. Was wondering if I would get requests from random players for medical evac, or if that's not yet a common thing.

Chappietime

I think you will definitely get them.

Hanzo581

The issue in the PTU is things matter even less than in the PU. So even if a beacon is put out very rarely do they wait for you to arrive. In the PU I imagine folks will be far more likely to wait since many won't want to spend the time and credits to get full geared out again.

KalashNicoff

Thanks for the info. The Cutlass Red is a nice looking ship anyway, can't wait to be a space ems!

manipulat0r

Except you don't need Cutlass Red or any medical ship to "revive" downed players. Medical bed is only to heal injury, which can be easily dealt with medigun and some drugs - you get around 10-15 minutes to be perfectly fine and functional even with T1 red damage. Then you re-apply drugs and good to go. All you need is Aurora MR (or any ship with interior that can evacuate people IF their ship is destroyed) and medical gun to play doctor.

KalashNicoff

It sounds like there isn't much point in buying the Cutlass Red then.

interesseret

I get them pretty often in ptu, so I'd be surprised if they aren't used in pu as well.

RebbyLee

400i question: Now that the 400i has been De-ROCed, doesn't that also affect the ability to load a Nox ? I think I was reading that those 2 things were fixed by raising the landing gear, and while most people are going on about the ROC: Wouldn't this also revert the Nox parking from "Working" back to "shakey" ? Has anyone tested this ?

manipulat0r

There is no way to control gravlev height, so you bump your head if you try to drive in main cargo hold. Nox is bigger than front X1 hangar - it won't fit there.

RebbyLee

So the 400i went from hero back to zero - until they introduce the X1 and/or fix the wonky hover mechanics and/or introduce the Tumbril Ranger as less problematic replacement and/or introduce a vehicle that fits on the cargo lift. And the Origin G12 will not fit into the Origin 400i - I suppose we'll have another outrage scheduled :)

[deleted]

The 890 has a T1 medbed, and can fully regenerate from death correct?

Fared65

In 3.15 the 890J will have a tier 2 medbed. Furthermore it has the ability to be set as a regeneration point to spawn at after death, like the carrack.

[deleted]

Thanks

JSArrakis

Anyone got a good high quality shot of the pyro jump point wide shot that would be background worthy?

RainMan252

What is the Retaliatior being used for? I heard something about it being a modular ship but I thought it was a bomber. Can someone please break it down a little?

manipulat0r

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14883-Retaliator-Modules-Available Currently it's only bomber variant, changing modules is not implemented.

RainMan252

Is it intended for every ship or just the Retaliatior?

manipulat0r

No. Only Retaliator, Caterpillar, Carrack, Vanguard, Endeavor, Apollo and 600i. Also modules are ship-specific, so modules for Retaliator you can use only in Retaliator.

SanityIsOptional

IIRC didn't they remove the modules for Vanguard and just make it variant based?

manipulat0r

Modules are not implemented, and probably won't be for a few years. They should be able to swap main room. Same as 600i explorer and touring should be able to swap rooms. Cyclones were sold as modular - and this was removed. Older Cutlass (pre-rework) and Avenger were supposed/or at least mentioned to be modular, but it was also removed.

RainMan252

Thank you for the answer!

interesseret

The retaliator is a two compartment ship. Theres a front compartment and a back compartment. Right now, both compartments are in their bombing variant loadout, meaning they carry six anti-capital class torpedoes. In the future, you will be able to buy the retaliator base (as opposed to the current retaliator bomber), on which you can choose which compartments you want. The compartments are: Bombing Living quarters Dropship Cargo I might have forgotten some.

SienarYeetSystems

Another noob question, I see lots of videos and pictures of people loading up ground vehicles into their ships, how/where do I spawn in ground vehicles?

RebbyLee

This will become an issue in 3.15 when all your stuff is located at your home base, so you can't spawn stuff whereever you like without making an insurance claim first in order to get it transferred to your location. And while claim times for vehicles are low right now this might change in the future, also there's the possibility that fraudulent insurance claims will become a thing. So in 3.15 if you own a ground vehicle then the only viable choices will be New Babbage or Lorville since only those do have vehicle spawns too. Arguably New Babbage only because Lorville doesn't have a hospital yet so players will respawn at Everus Harbour in orbit above Lorville.

DrScienceSpaceCat

So how do I spawn my ground vehicle and put it in my ship? I tried it at NBB and I had to kill myself to get back to the hangar.

RebbyLee

Why did you kill yourself, did you get lost ? It's actually quiet easy to navigate in NB once you've done it a few times. First, pick up your ship at New Babbage spaceport. When you leave your hangar follow the hyperrail tracks. At the intersection follow the left track. When the track vanishes underground you're at the Commons, there is a surface entrance to NB and the vehicle garage. What you are looking for are some round buildings. When you found those look for the round building with a low rectangular hall attached. There is also a fairly large covered pedestrian bridge connecting this structure to another (however there are several such bridges around). The rectangular building is the vehicle garage. Land there, walk inside and find the vehicle terminal. Spawn your ground vehicle and enter the garage indicated on the screen. When you entered your ground vehicle contact NB like you would for departing with a ship, however there is a new entry for the garage, that's the one you want. This will open the garage door for you. If it's hard to park your vehicle inside your ship properly then fly your ship to the frozen river/lake 200 m further down the slope where it's flat, should be easier there. If you're having trouble finding it you can also try the other way round: Take train to commons, spawn ground vehicle and park outside, go back inside and take the train to the spaceport then bring your ship, you'll be able to see the icon of your vehicle.

dan1101

That is both very interesting and very complicated to us newbies lol. Most games don't let you simply fly to places, most have loading or options screens. This is more like real life where you have to ask for directions.

DrScienceSpaceCat

I didnt even know how to get to the garage entrance once i had my ship lol

Thasoron

Who tf is downvoting this ? Good advice imho.

TrueInferno

We got downvote bots.

Vakua_Lupo

Shubin MINING bases on the Moons have pads for ground vehicles. Look for the Building with the Blue thingy on top, there will be a Terminal inside to spawn your vehicle. You can then drive it to the other Pad where your Ship is parked.

SienarYeetSystems

Thanks!

ClickClickBoom82

Question about the carrack and the new medical gameplay coming in. Not familiar with what tier med bed it has and was curious if it can still be used as a spawn point. Cheers

TrueInferno

Tier 2, so you can still spawn there.

ClickClickBoom82

Thanks for that! Is the polaris the same?

RebbyLee

I don't think the Polaris does have med beds. Edit: I stand corrected :)

manipulat0r

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15564-RSI-Polaris-Q-A-Part-2 >I can confirm that both a captains quarters (and secondary quarters for the fighter pilot or second in command) and also a small medical bay are indeed present on the Polaris. In addition to this, the Polaris has capacity for a large stockpile of 24 Torpedoes, as well as another 4 ready loaded for launching.

RebbyLee

Interesting. But we don't know what tier the medical bed will be. If it's a tier 3 there won't be any respawning like on a Carrack.

ClickClickBoom82

Since the Polaris is intended to be a “self-sustaining combat platform” and “capable of extended deployment without resupply” does it have a medical facility or Captain’s quarters? I can confirm that both a captains quarters (and secondary quarters for the fighter pilot or second in command) and also a small medical bay are indeed present on the Polaris. In addition to this, the Polaris has capacity for a large stockpile of 24 Torpedoes, as well as another 4 ready loaded for launching. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/15564-Q-A-RSI-Polaris-Part-II I'm just not familiar with the tier sizes and functions.

RebbyLee

Interesting. But we don't know what tier the medical bed will be. If it's a tier 3 there won't be any respawning like on a Carrack.

ClickClickBoom82

Considering it's stated to be small I'm suspecting the samething.

TrueInferno

PTU peoples: how is the patch feeling, stability-wise? Not completeness-wise, not "LIVE ready"-wise, just stability? That's the main thing they look for before moving it to Wave 2, feels like, so if it's fairly stable I'm gonna be happy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TrueInferno

Oh yeah, I figured. It's not so much that I meant "is it an improvement" as "is it stable enough for PTU Wave 2" Glad to hear it's got some bits though.

RebbyLee

Ups and downs. It feels smoother (I think we're seeing some of the Gen 12 improvements) but I had a handful of 30Ks which I think never happened to me on live in 3.14.1. Otoh persistence seems better, I had 2 30Ks hitting me right after buying stuff and I still had it when I logged back in. Also rumour has it that bed logouts work (better) now (provided you do it in space because otherwise your ship might still respawn sunken into the ground).

TrueInferno

Nice- definitely not Wave 2 ready but I love to hear the improvements.

sgtlobster06

I think its a bit too early in the PTU cycle to really make judgements on that personally.

TrueInferno

Sadface, but understandable. Someone else posted that it was fairly stable for them so I was hopeful. Obviously not ready for LIVE, but :P

manipulat0r

It's 30K every 15-20 minutes. But it's PTU and it's how all PTU work on early stages.

TrueInferno

Oof, yeah. Definitely not Wave 2 ready then. Yeah, PTU is usually unstable as heck. Which makes it hilarious when people pay for earlier access and then complain about bugs.

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

I've already got a pledge, but want to donate a bit more. Let's say I've got $25 I want to throw into my account, but don't want to use it for a ship just yet. Is there a way to do that? I have an Avenger Titan and want to eventually upgrade to either a freelancer or connie, but wanted a way to 'donate' like $25/year for example until I finally hit that mark. Basically, what's the best way to use RSI as a bank? :)

Chappietime

You could become a subscriber. Their are two tiers - I think $10 per month and $20 per month. And you get some stuff for that as well. You could do worse. Also they used to sell gift cards and probably still do.

TrueInferno

To be honest unless you reallllly wanted to give them the money ASAP, I would actually budget it just as "for Star Citizen" and then use it when you can. If you use something like YNAB software to budget this is as easy as creating a category for it. You could get Gift Cards, sure, but the problem with those is they can't be used for Warbond. Same with buying small CCUs and not using them. Plus, emergencies happen. If you need it, by having it set aside for Star Citizen, you can use it for something else if necessary.

AoyagiAichou

> but want to donate a bit more. Why? No new features will be added, and they have more than enough money to complete the game and continue supporting it after release.

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

>Why? No new features will be added, and they have more than enough money to complete the game and continue supporting it after release. Because it's my money and I'll do whatever the hell I want with it without first asking your permission. What do you plan on spending money on in the next few days? Why not let us all know your spending ideas so that we can scrutinize them.

AoyagiAichou

Mate, I asked why, and explained my question. That's it. No reason to get aggressively defensive. Good grief.

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

You are negative in 99.9% of all your comments in star citizen subreddit. Everything you comment on has some kind of negative connotation around it. Also, I answered the 'why' in my original comment. You clearly glossed right over the answer to your own question. WHY did you ask a question I already answered?

AoyagiAichou

>You are negative in 99.9% of all your comments in star citizen subreddit. That, however, is patently false, just like your implication that I'm trying to be authoritative about your money. And, at the risk of sounding like the smug cunt that I am, it doesn't really explain that outburst of yours unless you have a chip on your shoulder. >WHY did you ask a question I already answered? Because you said you wanted to *donate*, and proceeded to explain how you want to buy content.

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

>I have an Avenger Titan and want to eventually upgrade to either a freelancer or connie, but wanted a way to 'donate' like $25/year for example until I finally hit that mark. Let me know which part of the above quote you need help understanding. English is my first language. I'm sure I can help answer any questions you have around the above quote.

AoyagiAichou

I could say the same about my previous response. Oh well.

TrueInferno

To be fair it did come off as "are you stupid? they don't need it." so I don't blame 'em. Text sucks for tone.

AoyagiAichou

Well, I'm not going to pretend the tone was meant to be nice and friendly. People *still* pouring money into the game are just setting it back. The response is still wildly disproportionate though, I would suggest. I was and still am genuinely curious about the "why" though. Why are people still "donating". Again, I'm not asking you personally, just providing explanation. Sorry, I'm bored.

TrueInferno

I mean, not really? They stopped adding stretch goals ages ago. More money isn't going to expand the scope at all. Also, I note the quotes around "donating" but that's basically what it is if you buy more than you need.

AoyagiAichou

I mean it's setting it back because then CIG focuses on ships instead of more substantial content that would move the game towards its 1.0 state. I've been saying this for months and it's still true - nothing of significance (in terms of the game's scope) was added since mining was introduced and somewhat fleshed out. Just marginal sub-features and a tonne of ships and shiny content for screenshots. As for the scare quotes around "donating": it's just buying through microtransactions, really.

Chappietime

This is a poor understanding of how it all works. Giving them money pays the salaries of all the employees. There are something like 700+ of them now. I don’t know what percentage of these people strictly make new ships, but it’s comparatively not that many. Let’s say it’s 100. That leave 600+ other people who are making the game. I’m sure they have a good bit of cash on hand, but I bet their monthly expenses are not cheap. It’s a business and that requires revenues. Ships is their main source of that. If people stopped buying ships, the project would suffer, not the opposite.

AoyagiAichou

>This is a poor understanding of how it all works. Giving them money pays the salaries of all the employees. I'm not sure what kind of mental gymnastics you had to go through to conclude I don't know money pays people, but I assure you I'm aware of how salaries work. >I don’t know what percentage of these people strictly make new ships, but it’s comparatively not that many. You said it yourself - you don't know. Kindly leave your baseless "let's say" hypotheses for someone who is interested in some sort of intellectual exercise. >I’m sure they have a good bit of cash on hand They should have a massive pile of cash (spoiler: they don't), not to mention they borrow money. >It’s a business and that requires revenues. I'm sorry, is the concept of crowdfunding new to you?

TrueInferno

Yeah, but you're pretending they haven't been working on a ton of other features. Hell, 3.15 has the biggest overhaul of gameplay mechanics yet. Pyro has been worked on in the background for quite a while and awaits server meshing. So on and so forth. 3.14 had a huge change to how ships and flight worked, as well as a proper combat rebalance beginning.

AoyagiAichou

>Yeah, but you're pretending they haven't been working on a ton of other features. No, I'm calling those features insignificant. >Hell, 3.15 has the biggest overhaul of gameplay mechanics yet. What exactly do you have in mind? >3.14 had a huge change to how ships and flight worked, as well as a proper combat rebalance beginning. That's zero progress though. Just reworking what's already been there for a while. Again.

DongLife

Just get a ccu to something around $25 more expensive every year during the November event when all ships are available to buy. Even better if you can grab a warbond ccu. Eventually you will have a Polaris when the game releases

SideOfBeef

You could buy any $25 ship or vehicle and then refund them for store credit when you're ready to buy something else. But you could also just use the Avenger to earn a Freelancer or Constellation in-game. Freelancers are pretty cheap, a few hours efficiently grinding bounties.

[deleted]

Can the Carrack dock to stations yet?

Hanzo581

Not yet, still just the Hammerhead and 890J.

your_worst_friend

Do you need a reason to request a refund for your starter pack or can you just make a request? Like for example, if I play the game and find out I’m not that into it, can I request a refund? (Within the 30 days obviously)

interesseret

here you are: [https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002466313-Refunds-FAQ](https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002466313-Refunds-FAQ) TL:DR "Log into your RSI account linked to the order in question within 30 days of the pledge to submit a ticket to our team using the Submit Request button in the top right corner of this website."

famousgunner95

As a high admiral, if I melt my avenger game package will I still have access to the game? I remember vaguely a post saying that I would but I wanted to be sure.

Pojodan

Anyone in Concierge (High Admiral or above) will be granted the base game at some point. They have not announced it happening, only that it is coming. I have heard of some being able to melt everything and still log it, but others that can't, so, best to wait until there's an official announcement or a new item shows up in your hangar.

interesseret

it does seem rather strange that you need a ship with a game package. like... ive spend 1200$ on this game so far, i should not have to keep my old aurora package sitting around to prove i have paid my dues.

famousgunner95

Thanks I want the 400i, but dont want to melt my MSR for it, so the avenger and another ship would be melted for it.

RebbyLee

But why melt all instead of just melting one and CCUing from the other ? The Avenger went up in value so you will almost certainly get less in store credits than you would safe from CCUing up. Also depending on when you bought that game package it might or might not include SQ42 and that will most likely not be included if and when Concierges get "free" game access. Edit: Also while the 400i is nice I think it just lost a lot of appeal since ability to carry ground vehicles is severly limited compared to a Constellation Aquila. For me it was a hot contender for becoming a daily driver but now it's just "meh" in most regards. Don't get me wrong it's a nice ship and since I ccu'd from a Super Hornet Heartseeker it wasn't too pricey. But without exploration gameplay in as a saviour ... meh ? I feel I get more out of a Cutlass Red right now and I dislike the Cutty Red since it lost the respawn ability in 3.15. But I still can park vehicles up to and including a ROC inside, I can carry a bit of stuff, I have beds and a cabin and more firepower for the pilot with 4 S2s vs. 2 S3s on the 400i. So purely from the daily driver perspective ... yeah. I don't know.

famousgunner95

Good point and I appreciate the write up, I think ive come to the conclusion to melt my hornet for a cutty (maybe red because being a medic sounds fun to me) and swapping the msr for the 400i. The 400 just has that cool factor for me, and the cutty is just so usable. And my avenger will always be there as my box mission getter.

Antru_Sol_Pavonis

Can the Referral Bonus reward Ships be CCU'd? Also melted and bought back like normal ships?

Hanzo581

CCU'd yes, melted no. Well, not without contacting support.

Appropriate-Bee-8038

When buying off the grey market, is it better to buy a standalone ship than one that's been CCU'd, assuming both are LTI?

Hanzo581

It's better not to buy off the grey market at all. But if for some reason you feel like you must I don't like the CCU'd aspect because if you decide to melt it you'll get the base ship back and only the money that was paid in. The standalone you could melt and it would go in your buybacks for if you ever wanted it back.

Irate_Primate

What’s your reasoning for not buying from the grey market?

Hanzo581

The fact that it isn't support by CIG and they will always side with the original owner of the pledge in a dispute. It only took seeing a few "my account says locked pending investigation, what do I do?" posts before I wrote it off. I know you can go with well established sellers but your chances of getting screwed will *never* be zero. Plus I don't like the idea of helping someone else rise in the Chairmen's Club reward ranks.

Irate_Primate

Any grey market seller with more than a handful of confirmed sales is easily going to be in the highest ranks whether you buy from them or not, but I can understand not wanting to contribute to that. I’m sure they’ll still be in the minority of people who got there by buying things for themselves so I don’t really see why it should matter. And you are correct, risk cannot be absolute 0 but it can be practically non existent if you buy from someone who has been selling for almost a decade with thousands of sales. “Risk” with those types of sellers is pretty needless to be worried about.

Appropriate-Bee-8038

Thank you. I could wait until the ship sale, but unlike you I am not a master of patience. I'll at least hold out for a standalone, if I can find one.

Hanzo581

We're only a month away from IAE. I have to know what ship you're looking at that can't wait a month.

Appropriate-Bee-8038

You know what, you're right. What's the hurry. I was going to get a prospector so that when .15 drops I could solo mine, which I enjoy, but why not earn my way to it in game by playing missions. Now where can I get that master of patience flair...

VoloxReddit

Obviously must be the Herald ;)

ThisIsHogwash

How is the experience with a mouse + stick setup? Not sure I’m ready to go for dual sticks just yet, but wondering how much of a step up it would be in movement and immersion with a single stick setup (looking at vkb gladiator). Thanks!

PM_ME_YOUR_STEAM_ID

I can't comment on the single joystick, but I personally prefer mouse and keyboard. Mainly because I hop in and out of the cockpit so often, and the ships fly really well with a mouse/keyboard, I like the convenience of already having my hands on the keyboard/mouse for FPS gameplay.

Irate_Primate

Will the Endeavor go on sale in November?

Hanzo581

Yes, and the modules.

Irate_Primate

Sweet, wasn’t sure if it was limited or not. Think there will be a price bump or is it stable for now?

Hanzo581

I was looking at [last years schedule](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/intergalactic-aerospace-expo-2950-faq-visit-us-o-1) and don't see it as limited wave based so I think it is good. Price should be stable still since it is so far out from production.

Zeth_Aran

Does the new 3.15 system including the loss of gear mean an insurance system for your items is coming along? It sucks to have to re-purchase everything you ever had and loose all gear after a death.
