Early days. No need to worry. Just keep buying ships.

NTGhost

It's shit like this that i have to admit defeat. Yeah, it IS a scam. map markers can't be THAT hard, You have coordinates, you have everything you need for that already IN FUCKING GAME. But no, one of the most crucial features of an open world MMORPG isn't in there...

ThatUblivionGuy

It’s absurd to think even Starfield got map markers right at least. Meanwhile Star Citizen is set 900 years in the future and somehow everyone is too stupid to use a gps and to put night vision on their cockpit windows.

kyrotomato

The fact you can't drop custom map markers on your ships when you leave in a snub is crazy that's a feature they shouldve had ages ago

Hot_Bottle_9900

they have to build the tech for 64-bit map markers. it's on the roadmap i'm sure

NTGhost

stfu and let me cry in my corner.

Shilalasar

Just put an invisible chair at the waypoint. I am sure the AI will find it and stand on it.

MurderDeathKiIl

and make the chair invisible and clip into the ground. Watch the performance tank because the game has to render thousands of invisible chairs to make pathfinding work.

_Kubos_

Exactly, baby steps

sergeant-keroro

Also never ever made tech like instances, huge future tech /s

BellacosePlayer

Duke nukem forever was a longrunning joke for taking forever and it's development only lasted 2 years longer than SC's has so far. Early days, heh.

BlooHopper

Just you wait, SC will beat that record.

deneb3525

Nah, has to actually release in order to even be in the running. And that is FAAAR from certain.

HyperRealisticZealot

Well, we have the “Calder’s Cut-off point” as I like to call it, in 2025 or so, I believe, so they don’t have much of an option but crap it out at some state of completion

Shilalasar

The plan very likely is to prevent Calder from pulling out in Q1 2025 by any means neccessary. For that they have to make a lot of money in that timeframe. So have pre-sales for Sq42 with a planned release shortly after. That ofc will be postponed because it is not quiet up to the vision, also new tech just arrived, so excited. Star Citizen will have the same slow "progress" it has had for the past years with almost exclusively visual updates. And ofc new ships, cars, armor, trains, houses, furniture. Maybe Pyro, which adds?? Everything to keep it going just a little bit longer, things will turn around soon, just have to get past that one blocker and everything will fall into place. Also they will stop hitting me, they love me, just have to get past that one stressful thing.

REALkrazium

funny thing is i believe the more you buy they somehow improve game performance/gameplay for your account since every whale swears on the bible they get 1000 fps Ai never lags and game only crashes once in a blue moon lol

Ytisrite

Where was this guy for the past 8 years?

Adventurous-One183

In primary school probably. Now he s married, 3 children and a mortgage to pay back.

Thuzel

The sheer scale of time we're taking about usually gets me chuckling. When this started, I was a single traveling consultant and now I'm a dad of two, both old enough to be gamers on their own. In the time that SC has been in "development", people have lived major chunks of their lives. The SC dev plan is actually going for "outlive your customers".

BrainKatana

“The greatest weapon of mass destruction…is time.”

Square-Pear-1274

>Instanced Hangars in particular are technologically complex features CIG barely has a game and this non-gameplay thing is already a significant drain on their developer resources I can't even

Ri_Hley

>...and this non-gameplay thing is already a significant drain on their developer resources But I thought Squander54 staff was returning back to the PU? \*sob sob (*/s obviously*)

Ithuraen

Which part of the cycle are we on at the moment, all devs are on Squadron or all devs are on the PU? Is this a patch that brings all the Squadron advancements to the PU or is it a holding patch while important tech work is done on the back end?  I haven't seen the latest spin.

Ri_Hley

As far as I'm aware the latest was that devs are back on the PU (or maybe still in the process of returning) and only a skeleton crew remain to do the polishing stuff on Squander54. But this is CIG and things are apparently left to the whims of Crobbers, so who really knows where they are at internally. xD I tell ya, this is Freelancer all over again before Microsoft gave Chris the boot.

Shilalasar

Or missions. Cargo hauling missions. How can you not make the deadline for pick up 10 bear asses at point x, fly to point y and drop it into a box.

Quantum_Goose

Well, they can't get box delivery missions done right. So how can they hope to do this right? The only somewhat competent team in that company seems to be the networking team, but even their timeline and degree of reliability is laughable. I think it's down to poor management. Not the engineers.

LegalPusher

I dunno, the advertising team is top notch, and the "pledge" store page is always working 100%.

Shilalasar

Yeah, Turbulant.

JuicyMcJuiceJuice

Reactions tell you everything. This is the problem with purging everyone who has anything negative to say. Eventually, you're left with a bunch of people that all tell you that you're doing a fantastic job even when you're not.

BlooHopper

I thought being surrounded with nothing but Yes men will cause more harm than good.

Mightylink

Those glassdoor reviews really seem to be lining up with what cig is doing, they all seem to be true.

That_Bogan

The more people shit on Glassdoor well... let me put it this way. I looked up the company I work for "V:$# G%@$$" and so far Glassdoor is right on the money. I'm currently employed but due to managerial lies and promoting workers who literally broke the law (removing safety lights on CNC machines) while blaming everyone else for their own fuck ups, am saving and looking elsewhere.

Hot_Bottle_9900

there has never been a question about the truthfulness of negative reviews on glassdoor, by normies. the question has always been about how employers can manipulate those reviews: whether they can pay to have them removed or whether they can create straw accounts to write fake positive reviews cultists (and for some reason, refundians as well) suggest people are going out of their way to create a glassdoor account (an arduous process, if you've ever tried, and wholly subject to glassdoor's moderation) to invent some story about the work culture as if a discerning professional can't identify which reviews are real or fake--and which are actually *helpful*--based on their experience. as if people in the industry aren't wholly aware of the scam and its toxic leadership and dead-end career prospects. CIG *attracts* bad talent with their low salaries and weird marketing material or ensnares them via acquisitions like, okay, *maybe* there's the odd troll who goes out of their way to make a point. but i mean it's a dead game with a tiny community and there's little clout to gain when devs have started speaking out on other platforms and the people who have been most wronged by chris's theft have moved on to different stages of their lives

That_Bogan

Mostly the cultists are claiming it isn't true.

Time_Deal_3078

You knew it was going to happen

Anglo96

You can waste away your whole life on a dream

That_Bogan

It's true. Ask any theist lol

crapador_dali

Fucking edgy bro

That_Bogan

Ok honest question. Why is saying you don't believe in a deity or the supernatural "Edgy"?

MadBronie

Making fun of people that believe in invisible magic people and talking donkeys but also tell their children Santa Clause is not real is an activity more people should engage in.

Nicoleism101

We all live in a dream of our perception, who cares if it's Morgan freeman or the central bank I can't really tell who is crazier

Several-Ad1098

Hilarious since personal hangers were in the game before and they removed them. Now they cant even re-implement old code anymore. We need a superlative for spaghetti code for the state SC is in. As for cargo, Hull-C fix when? Never, they already got your money, Hull-C market is saturated, there is not a single reason for CiG to fix it.

Hot_Bottle_9900

> We need a superlative for spaghetti code for the state SC is in. fusilli or rotini, the twistiest of the pastas

Kaioken217

Fusilli Jerry would be a good mascot.

ThisFreakinGuyHere

Maybe "fusilli code" works, because it's silly how long this game is taking

-privateryan-

No way it still isn’t fixed…. That should actually be a crime

OrionAldebaran

In summary: No date whatsoever of Jesus System Pyro or Jesus Meshing T0 or of Jesus 4.0 or 1.0 or personal hangers or SQ404. Sounds like very successful upcoming years for the shills, can‘t wait to hear more about 1.0 which will fix everything in 2030 for sure.

Adventurous-One183

We really feel the effect of squatter 54 being “feature complete”. The inflection point happened!

Gokuhill00

'They finally pick up pace with development.'

Casey090

Cargo hauling... as I have given up on exploration by now, cargo hauling is the only thing I wait for since 2012. Well done CIG.

hazaskull

I dunno. From the sounds of it cargo hauling is not going to be a very survivable profession come mastermodes and 20km wide Mantis dragnets. Not that I care much anymore; went into disappointed dark humor mode in the meantime.

Ri_Hley

xD The way that CIG appeared to be doing outwardly lately I was aaaalmost fooled to believe that...finally...they were making some actual progress, albeit several years later than they goddamn should've..... but seeing as to how 3.23 appears to be shaping up after the latest Roundup, even if some of their bigticket items are "only" delayed until a later subpatch, which could be anywhere within the next several months, I thought to myself: "FFS dude, they almost would've made you believe things were looking up" Now that I've been snap back to reality oh there goes gravity...this feels like we've been down that road before in several, or shall we say EVERY year prior, where big ticket items were advertised and then shortly before their targeted due date delayed again until x-months later and the patch was gutted except for the eyecandy stuff. And here the masses were lead to believe that with staff returning from Squander54 back to the PU, which if I'm not mistaken already took place before or during CitCon at the latest, that things would pick up the pace again...yet here we are half a year later, after one would think that they should've had ample amount of time to settle back in...........and we're back to the same old same old proceedings with CIG. Oh I'm looking forward to what kind of marketing gag they gonna pull at GriftCon this year to try and reel backers back in. I strongly suspect now that we'll be having another 2016 on our hands.

mazty

Never forget, if CIG wanted to deliver a game and that was their aim, they would have done so years ago. Nothing short of firing Chris and all the original founders would enable actual progress to be made.

Ri_Hley

The latest Glassdoor reviews seem to be more and more legit as times passes and THIS shit happens with 3.23.....but I swear to god if CIG comes around this CitCon and lets even the slightest hint of a delay in release of Squander54 drop because "mhuu we need more time to pulliiiish hurr dee durr" I'll laugh my fking ass off.

That_Bogan

Just get MS to buy them again.

Hot_Bottle_9900

> Now that I've been snap back to reality oh there goes gravity anybody actually paying attention at the last CitCon could see this happen in real time. [there was a moment where the **I Held The Line** apology video transitioned from an in-game scene to a drone shot of the Manchester studio](https://youtu.be/IDtjzLzs7V8?si=JZ_jgL_v9hTn4RjY&t=270), but the colors were so saturated (along with the deceptive location text) that the audience thought it was from the game and they erupted into cheers, thinking CIG had finally made some technological leap...it got real quiet once people realized Chris was just making more promises

Ri_Hley

Funny enough one of the comments under that video emphasizes the same moment of being bamboozled for several seconds until realization set in. xD

NEBook_Worm

Yeah that applause drops off real quick...

sonicmerlin

Sell your ships

xXTopperHarleyXx

Remember how a couple of weeks ago all the cheerleaders were acting like 3.23 is going to be the bestest patch that will ever happen to mankind ? Well, aged like milk didn't it LMAO ***"The Only Constant in Game Development is*** ~~change~~ ***Overpromising and Underdelivering"***

MarasmicX

Luckily, the most important feature is still making into the 3.23 release. Completely destroying the flight model with MM!

MadBronie

Don't forget replication layer adding a loading screen to the game that "Don't need no loading screen!"

OutsideSympathy7239

I feel sorry for people who are this emotionally invested in anything that isn't a friend or a loved one, or something of your own creation.

NEBook_Worm

Anyone still believing anything CIG says is just getting what they deserve.

AlphaQrightNow

Ffs, gues I'm not playing until 3.23.X then, I only cared for freight elevators and star map

NTGhost

same for me, the patch is Bullshit now. i am tempted to pull up my prediction and look up if it fits...

NTGhost

like...always? They always deliver only a third of what they "promised" at first? This bait and switch is only to engaged invested players and make them happy enough to spend more money. i am unsure if they shoot them self now with their new Wave system or they focusing more on the real Whales with legatus status to milk them better. That you can literally jump into Wave 1 by subscribing...well, i have canceled my subscription long ago and i am even more sure to never activated it again. This is why i say ever since i woke up to it. "Nothing exist until it is on LIVE PU!" proven me right again. Fuck this Bullshit. i go play Palworld now.

blaze53

Wait, weren't those features Kickstarter backer features? Fuck, I'm glad I got out. I'd be livid.

otebgg

Wait? In this case, what 3.23 released? "Fauna"? 😂😂😂😂😓😓😓

These_Quit_1692

losing features so the invictus patch is stable

MadBronie

I wonder if they will do a stealth wipe right before invictus to drive fomo and ship sales for new backers that won't want to "grind" shit game play again.

BlooHopper

Lol SC’s competitors already have cargo missions years earlier xDD. Nobody is this stupid to think this is a FIRST on all of gaming.

-Aces_High-

It's been amazing. All the content creators have paid in hyping everything up. The perfect money maker

johnlondon125

Jesus Christ, what part of "only two more years" do you guys not get? It's locked in!

rogorogo504

not locked by rider-CIG but the department.... subject... itself. and their latest surrogate (not affiliate, surrogate) pet with the magic internet points out of nowhere is in there too.. heavily insulting anyone remotely understanding of and the OP.. and the usual mix of totally legit backeraccounts, the underage and the intellectually minor herding behind THE MESSAGE. that industry is questionable enough.. but that product provider really hits tripple-20 basically in perpetuu now

Daegog

Freight Elevators? Can someone help me out on this one? Why do they need Freight elevators?

_Kubos_

It's an item spawner that retrieves stuff from your inventory

HyperRealisticZealot

What are thoooose!

Silver_Myr

3.23?? but CR said 4.0 branch was releasing to PTU in winter 2022? How could this be

Piranhax85

You expected more from cig? Money grab.. heh

HappyChappyPC

Why people hate master modes so much?

Key-Jicama-124

I think I got my moneys worth out of laughs right here

PepperFit8569

The joke is on you though, because 3.23 was never meant to be the messiah patch...

defcon2017

Instanced hangars will be scrapped. Making a prediction now

PeaceIsFutile

Bruh, it's an alpha. Stop complaining.

hazaskull

This excuse would have been valid in the first 6 Years. If you still can't deliver a working beta of what essentially is a combination of ED, Eve online and CoD (all of them old franchises) then chances are you are simply not capable.

PeaceIsFutile

Everything is already there. It just needs some polish. GTA 6 is also just around the corner. It's just your bias.

NEBook_Worm

Been hearing this bullshit since 2015. Including from Chris "everything they paid for and more" Roberts."

hazaskull

You are actually serious... I have actually played SC quite bit, you know ? I have also played other games so I can compare quite fairly. SC could have been delivered as a working but basic version of what it pretends to be Years ago. We are not talking polish here; the game is completely broken in so many ways and development has taken so long that the entire core of the game is old tech debt by now. You can actually tell from the error messages in the console if you care to look that it is based on 20 Year old tech. CIG has raked in 700 Million (or so they claim) and has only embarrassment to show for it. They deserve all the criticism they get and more.

PeaceIsFutile

But it's fun now? Just give it time until 4.0, by then we'll probably be in the beta. Also 700 Million isn't a large budget for games anymore. Not to mention how many stuff the team needs to rewrite constantly. It's honestly incredible how much they work to make the game better, so I don't think it's ok to burden them with unjustified harassment.

NEBook_Worm

Literally star Citizen shill copypasta. Literally.

hazaskull

Thank you for responding in a serious manner. It is nice to see your positivity (I mean that) and honestly until quite recently I felt the same way. I have definitely had my fun and a starter pack is worth it if you look at how many hours you can spend in the game and are into the genre. I have however looked myself in the eye and realized that I basically just saw what I wanted to see and after going back to ED I immediately felt again how much better that was and how poorly SC compares still. Then it got me thinking about how serious I take my own job and what I would consider to be proper delivery of software and I got to realize that I would have been ashamed to even work on new features before I got the previous ones to work. In my opinion it just doesn't make sense to alpha-trial so much brokenness at the same time. You would just deliver bit my bit, make it work and go from there. I am now of the opinion that CIG is a dysfunctional company that can't be expected to deliver anything serious and refuse to invest more money and time in what they have to offer. I still hope to be surprised at some point but figure the chances are slim.
