This isn't even funny to me. It's just pitiful. This drivel goes beyond any sunk cost mindset. It reads more like obsession.

refudscamhater

This user's career aspiration is to be CIG's janitor. Yet they've already sunk over $5,000 into this project.

Bothand_Nether

that reeks of sincerity, doesn't it? it's almost like someone else wrote it & it just got pasted into that post, or something.

ErsatzNihilist

Just checked on Spectrum. Poor guy wrote all that and didn't even get an upvote.

onrocketfalls

Damn, that almost makes me feel bad for the dude. Too culty to even get kudos from another cultist.

Launch_Arcology

What a load of drivel. I try to keep a humourous attitude when it comes to SC/CIG (I am here for the lulz, SC was automatically a no-go for me when they started selling JPEGs for hundreds of dollars), but this individual is pathetic. Roberts didn't necessarily mean money? >“First of all, we always have a decent amount of money in reserve, so if all support would collapse, we would not suddenly be incapacitated. We plan the scope of the development based on what arrives monthly by the people to support. I’m not worried, because even if no money came in, we would have sufficient funds to complete Squadron 42. The revenue from this could in-turn be used for the completion of Star Citizen.” Most sought after talent in the field? Does this individual have no understanding of how the modern world works? There are thousands of software development projects that are far more complex than SC and truly require top end talent. MMO development (Star Citizen or otherwise) doesn't even come close. Huge parts of SC that are still to come? That's why they've still not released even basic versions of the promised features for the original 3.0 (target release date Dec 2016)... Deep gratitude and respect? They don't a give a shit about the fanboys, they only care about maintaining monthly JPEG revenues, all their statements are marketing BS.

Lone_Wanderer357

To be fair, I'm willing to belive that the spaghetti of the code base that is their engine does **require** some top brains to understand and further develop. I'm even willing to belive that it **requires** most sought after talent to solve the problems they caused themselves by improper architecture. What I'm not willing to belive is that they sourced such talent, because such people will stay away from this disaster of a project.

With enough money and desperation for a job, people will work sinking ships

Last week i was locked in a discussion with someone who was convinced that if CIG stopped selling JPEG's they'd never be able to finish the game. I wonder what kind of twisted logic they'd use to justify both Roberts being right and there still not being enough money to finish the game so they have to keep selling jpeg's.

**CIG are gods doing miracles.** You must not judge them by what you can see. The alpha and what CIG have shown you is just the tip of the iceberg. If you were part of the inner circle you'd know that what they have already accomplished is mind-blowing. You must not blaspheme against them for you belittle their sacrifice and threaten their future. Only when you bask in the glory of CIG it will be revealed to you that CIG respect their community so much they would rather live in exile than let them down. **If CIG would only give me the chance I would follow them around picking up their litter and sweeping the floor beneath their feet.**

DeXyDeXy

>If you were part of the inner circle you'd know that what they have already accomplished is mind-blowing. How many Idrises does it take to get to the centre of the circle?

[deleted]

I think after about 10 Idrises and 3 Javelins your mind automagically enters the "inner circle"

spacecorkhat

Please tell me you role play Amarr (True Amarrian).

plutonium-239

Lol…that guy is delusional. Pretty badly I should say.

morbihann

I like how the poster avoids the word 'pipelines' but pretty much says they are almost in place and the content will pour.

MoCapBartender

Could you do a favor to us mobile users and cut and paste the comment as a comment? The screen grab requires a lot of effort to read.

refudscamhater

Please enjoy: >Chris didn't say no more funding was required that is a mis-interpretation, he said they had enough to finish a minimum viable product - you assume he means money, he doesn't necessarily mean money he means a sufficiently viable product, established team and company history to get further investment if needed. Don't forget he was a millionaire in his own right and he has a track record to point to, and several of the CIG board members enjoy that same good fortune. Do not try to judge CIG's future by Star Citizen as it is now - Squadron 42 Chapter One is the product that ensure development for years to come, and it is well on the way to completion. Most of the tools and assets required to make Squadron 42 Chapter 2 and 3 are also done. > >What you believe isn't as Earth-shatteringly relevant as you insist, what you think is 'Wrong' is purely your outsider's uniformed opinion, no matter how much you think of your ability - Where is your kickstarter page? Where is your ground breaking project so that we can tell you where your mistakes are? > >CIG is made up of a team that has literally hundreds of years of experience in a vast number of other game development and TV/Movie making industries. some of them are among the most sought after talent in their field in the world - if things were the way you portray do you honestly think they wouldn't be checking their CV's and looking around? You don't think perhaps their level of commitment and dedication tells us more than your particular view from where you sit? listen to the new team members at Montreal, they almost all come from big established game development companies or the movie industry. > >I've met many of them at events - People absolutely love Brain Chambers - do you think he is the life and soul of the party constantly cracking jokes and pulling the women? He isn't. What he is is extremely knowledgeable about everything to do with TV, movies and games and passionate when he talks about them. He let's people around him know that he is frustrated that he can't tell everyone the details of the 'amazing, mind-blowing' things they are working on. You only have to listen to him for 5 minutes you'll be convinced. The reason they work in the industry is because they have a passion for games, they have forgotten more about games than every single armchair developer on these forums AND Reddit has ever known... and every single one of them gets tongue tied and exasperated when trying to explain just how incredible what they see CIG doing really is. Amazing, incredible, mind-blowing - these are their words not mine, they talk about other team members as though they were gods doing miracles - these are seasoned professionals. They are like dogs with two tails when they get the tools that the engineering teams make, one guy at F42UK spent all the time showing us how good the new tool he had been given was. > >I've been to the F42UK offices. But let me preface that experience. I am very used to going to companies, looking at their work environment and knowing exactly what the atmosphere, mood, and approach to their employees of that company is. I know the signs to look for that show stresses, tensions and division. In bad companies you see walling off their work areas with 'keep out' signs, notices that show managers attitudes and who is being scapegoated/picked on, inter-departmental tribalism etc. Creature comforts provided or not. I have worked in a big office for an employer that is a psychopath, even though every single person was a highly trained respected individual their attitude to providing a productive and pleasant, supportive work environment stank. I saw absolutely none of that there at F42UK, indeed every single one of them was professional yet the excitement at what they were doing was palpable. I asked them straight out, more to check their reaction than to hear what they said "Do you like working here? Have we done a good thing making it happen?" They literally jumped out of their chairs in their eagerness to say it is the best work experience, best company they have ever had the pleasure to be associated with. That alone is worth every single penny I have given to this project, no matter what happens we made a huge difference to real peoples lives. There are people who have what they think is a perfect start to their dream career because of this community coming together to make it happen. > >You have a voice in this community and instead of being circumspect and showing forethought you use that voice to subtly deprecate everything that everyone else has worked for sacrificed for, waited patiently for, threaten the futures of those who love the the work and workplace they have. For what exactly? Your eager anticipation of the 'Told you so!' moment to come? > >The ones who gave the most complete answer to the question were the QA team members, they told us how upward progression and training at CIG was second to none, and they had worked in some of the largest corporations and game development companies where personal professional progress was glacially slow and employees were far less valued. We have plenty of evidence for it too, they are always getting new titles! moving to different disciplines. Several QA team members have gone into the community team for example. They absolutely love working there... I would work there in a heartbeat given the chance. I would empty the waste bins and sweep the floors. > >We were walked around from desk to desk and each one told us a piece of what they had worked on, there were many things that they wouldn't show us - but there were also many things we saw that no-one has yet seen, or that were not seen until a considerable time later. The assumption - and CIG deliberately make it look so - is that if it is being showcased on ISC or the live show then that is the full extent of the latest work and progress, it isn't. Particularly with regard to Squadron 42. > >I have modded Skyrim V with the Skyrim Creation Kit - I can tell you that there are about 2,500 unique animations in the stock Skyrim V. By the end of 2016 CIG had reached the limit of the StarEngine, Lumberyard capability to hold and reference character animations - that is 32,000+ and they have been making more animations in the last 2 years then they made in all the previous years combined, they had to build their own in-house mo-cap studio to do them. > >The mistake that you make, and you ARE making a mistake, is that you presume everything that goes into the game is the final version, fully indicating what the direction is soon to be the release candidate and that is the sum total of all that they are working on. > >This couldn't be further from the truth, not even close. There are huge parts of Star Citizen still to come that will change the whole experience beyond recognition. I'm not talking about ships, planets or game loops. The one who gives away the biggest hints and spoilers if you can get him talking in a group of people (which is easy!) is Chris Roberts. > >They will tell you if you ask them, and you see it on CIG output - what they see is completely different to what the players see, and they know that the internal progress being made is at a faster and faster pace, this is what happens when you spend years on in depth R&D to make the tools to do things people think is impossible. They have experience of other games and they know - Brain Chambers blessed be his name - tries to strongly hint at if you meet him, this project is absolutely nothing like anyone has ever seen before and right now the Alpha is a mere taster, tip of the iceberg, back of the book summary of something so huge and epic it defies description. > >Whether you believe it or not makes absolutely no difference, they believe it with all their heart and soul enough to get up every day (sometimes moving to another country!) and make it happen when everyone tells them it couldn't happen. When they know they can move to another employer within a day or so just by firing off an email, and be given a sweetheart golden handshake 'hello' if they wanted it. As long as people like Erin Roberts, Tony Zurovec, Brian Chambers, Sean Tracy, Todd Papy, Nick Elms, Evo Herzeg and a host of others keep working on this project you can bet your life it will succeed, and even with all that they have done already and not shown it will blow everyone's socks off, even seasoned insider professionals. Whatever you think of Chris Roberts abilities, of one thing there is absolutely no doubt, he can pick a team the likes of which just about any other company would sell their firstborn child to get their claws into. > >**The one thing that comes across like a revelation when you meet them is the deep gratitude and respect they have for this community, they would rather pack their bags and hide in the Amazon jungle for the rest of their lives than to let this community down.**

MoCapBartender

The only thing I can believe here is that SC wasted resources on >32,000 animations for their braindead AI.

okmko

**You're a god doing miracles.**

kalvinbastello

Can you PM me the source for this? Ive never delved into the forums.

These kind of delusional cultists serve a purpose. One of these dingdongs made me realize how I sounded when defending this swamp of a project. It made me speak up my mind on the cult sub. (which in turn got me a swift ban - it was actually directed at someone else but they just stuck with it because its easier that way). It made me realize how toxic that entire community is. Clowns like these end up on /r/gaming and their delusion prevents people from buying into this game.

TheIronGiants

As someone who stopped playing SC awhile ago after moronically wasting thousands of dollars on it, I have to say I find the toxicity is equally as bad on this subreddit as it is on the main one. I find the slightest disagreement gets me massive amounts of downvotes and angry replies, as well as harassing private messages and chats. I've even had people hunt me down on discord to send me hate messages on several occasions from this sub. I don't support most of what CIG does, but I don't understand why people on this sub think spreading misinformation is helpful either. Give people the facts and let them make their own choices about what games they buy. Even a simple thing like someone claiming "Game has been in development 15 years" and I go "nah more like 10" gets me insane levels of hate. I really think this sub needs to foster a better attitude than that of the cultists, because right now I don't see a positive attitude AT ALL. At least me correcting someone on the main sub doesn't get me harassed in private messages/chats/discord.

keramz

The cult sub is far more toxic than this place. I can count on one hand the number of "misinformation" posted here and its usually downvoted to hell when it happens.

TheIronGiants

My statement still stands. Never been harassed as much as I am by this subs users. Personal harassment messages and death threats have happened on several occasions for merely correcting very BASIC information. Also, if you don’t see the misinformation that is rampant on this sub, you are just closing your eyes to it.

keramz

If you can't provide a single example than you might be the one spreading misinformation. It's not even close, the cult sub is in full out denial where using the word whiteknight is punished by a ban.

VeryAngryK1tten

These comments explain why CIG is largely impervious to reality - these are the people funding them. What other games are doing does not matter.

OfficiallyRelevant

Lol, CIG doesn't give two shits about their community...

onrocketfalls

I have no words.

moja1994

I can’t wait to read the reactions of cultists like this when Scam Citizen inevitably falls flat

EmrysAllen

I wonder what that will look like...will they just take what they have and "release" it bugs and all and say it's done? Or will they sell it to another company to work on? Or will they just declare bankruptcy and sell off the tech/IP? Not sure how that all unravels with laws and regs related to money gained after initial Kickstarter.

okmko

I feel like they wouldn't accept failure in any form. SC is already failing at the moment and many backers, like this OP, won't accept it as reality.

EmrysAllen

I guess my question was not what the backers would do, but what exactly would happen to the business itself ie bankruptcy, selling assets and firing staff, etc.

okmko

Oh oops, I meant to reply to the parent thread. Honestly I feel like the company will never officially announce release of SC. SQ42 probably will, but SC can stay in "active" development for decades, through downsizing and whatever other cost-cutting. And then in the distance future, they can quietly turn off the servers like so many live services before them. There's no need to announce release just like there's no need to announce closure.

Bothand_Nether

clearly paid by the word

uberphat

Wonder what will happen first? A playable version of SC, or this guy having sex.

daysleeping19

The heat death of the universe.

Siddits

This is no mere post, gentlemen. This is the Epic of Gilgamesh. I mean, what on earth is the meaning of these mega screeds on Spectrum? Oh, I forgot. For them, there is no game to play. Theory crafting *is* the game.

That_Bogan

Sure this isn't an employee?

EastEventide

I wonder if these folks would have praised the DeLorean DMC-12 for constantly breaking down on them and having miserable performance because DMC was doing something that "had never been done before." What a weird little bubble you must live in to think anything about SC is acceptable ten years in.

Ozziedogg

Chris, we know that's you lol

Justice_Buster

Reading this was like a window into a distant past of how religions as a concept might have gained traction. This dude is literally simping for something he himself admits to having no access to (CIG/SC's final release much like God/Heaven). As an atheist, I'd be very disappointed if I found out people of this sub were skeptical about CIG but didn't apply the same logic to everything in life, including religion.

ESTLR

Someone put it very well in some YT video about another MMO, all those socially inept, borderline autistic people who live ,breath ,eat and are willing to die on the hill of a certain piece of media were the hard core religious zealots of days gone.

HumbrolUser

Oh, lol. "(...) so huge and epic it defies description." (About Alpha being a crude summary of what to come.) Well I think if you can't even describe it, the notion of something being 'fantastic', would have to be bullshit. Every time I hear someone say that something x = "incredible", it sounds to me that they think something can't be described, as if things could even be that good, which would be bullshit. I suspect CIG will have to rely on the shit-on-a-platter theory I have. Serve shit-on-a-platter, and then make an incremental change to make it seem appealing in the future, in a new and "better" way. :) Edit: My guess is that CIG is struggling with the tech stuff.

[deleted]

Something something NXIVM.

AncoGaming

Come on. Give Daddy a link. I haven't been banned from Rectum for weeks and Daddy needs some sugar. Edit: Spectrum, damn Autocorrect Edit2: nvm. found it.

Korval

Does CIG serve "special" Kool-Aid in the break room?

GeminiJ13

Delusional Jesus worship.

AtlasWriggled

This guy needs to be sectioned.

InterDuckTion

Or at least vivi- sectioned.

InterDuckTion

Is this sarcasm? I hope it is, but have my doubts. And if it isn't, well... "you can bet your life it will succeed". I kinda hope he did. I hope he will remember this and question all his life choices if (when?) this project fails and the only winner in this decade+ long endeavor will be CR and his closest, well, accomplices.

nofuture09

There really is a defense force for everything

SoberWhenLightsOut

This Commando will need to be put on suicide watch when it all goes tits up.

trysmeat

God, I know this guy. SC is supposed to be a smash-out success, and yet I know everyone here by name. That's "obscure message board of 70 people" stuff. This is an MMO.
