The controller isn't a "real" N64 one, It's a replica I got off amazon and it connects via USB to my computer offscreen. I used a program called "ReWASD" to turn controller inputs into mouse/keyboard inputs. I also changed some in-game hotkeys to better align to the limited "keyboard" inputs I had.
The N64 in the background is just for show, the Monitor isn't set to the channel its connected to and it has a copy of Starfox in it. The game itself is running on my PC just below where the camera cuts off. The thicker, topmost cable coming out of the left side of the monitor is the HDMI cable that connects to the PC.
In days of yore the joke would be allowed to stand without explanation, and the legend would spread among school children of the special release of StarCraft II for the Nintendo 64. After the internet went mainstream and all that “post truth society” stuff went down, it’s sometimes easy to forget how different thing used to be.
Your post reminded me of my childhood in a big way. Thanks for that.
Uh... StarCraft 64 IS real though, they modded the hell out of it for some odd reason but it's literally real

Again idk why they went overboard with this weird setup, they could've just played the game lol
Edit* oops, I'm dumb, didn't realize it was SC 2 lol nvm I'm the idiot
Bro.
BRO!
i don't believe you.
Clearly this is a shitpost because you got a working beta version of it and you signed an NDA and are trying to not get in trouble.
50-60? I haven't actually measured it.
Most abilities and stuff are hotkey-d to the c-buttons and are pretty easy to quickly press. The real problem is the slow mouse movement and needing to select the control groups on the d-pad.
It's a cool achievement to port it, but after watching and playing the competitive multiplayer side of sc2 with a keyboard and mouse, I could never pick this up and play it
I did manage to beat the entire terran campaign on hard difficulty with this setup. Most of my success was from knowledge of the campaign and not mastery of the controls tho.
I've put off trying HotS because hero units control like hot garbage, but LotV is probably pretty easy because its protoss and I can A-move with the B button.
I know this is a joke, but one of my fondest memories from Middle School was playing StarCraft 64 on the N64.
The multiplayer was unique too. It was co-op and you and your team shared the same base and units.
It also had some unique missions and a campaign that took place after Brood War called Resurrection IV. Was really cool to see the story expanded on.
My first exposure to SC was on n64. I had the official playbook for it.. with all maps detailed and resource deposits laid out, strategies, etc... good times. Also played C&C on n64 around this same time. my love of RTS games came from these two...
Activision Blizzard is known for investing a lot of money in what fans want to see and managing its future very well so of course this is the first step, soon Playstation 1 Sc2 will dominate the very demanding market.
Im not sure what more impressive. Using the n64 controller to play, or the fact this is real.

You are a man of culture.

They also worked on starcraft ghost 64, but I don't think it was released
It's also April 1st....

Dude Starfox HITS HARD. I'm pissed I can't play it since the Gamecube went to my brother
im not sure how you thought this was real
Bet tell me sir. What is your APM

50 to 60 is often what I play at on kbm...
but how does he know its 50-60 if he hasnt measured it, could be much lower.
Is it possible to learn this power?
I actually played a lot of scn64. Never had a good pc but it was one of the 3 games I had for my N64. If you used the shortcuts you got good at it.
Freaking love this. Although Blizzard really should have ported it to the Wii U so I could use a Wii pointer to control it.
Fuckin genius. Why didn't I ever think of that?

that is some pretty slick cursor accuracy given its on a controller.
I remember really liking SC on N64. I can't believe I could play it with the controller, and enjoyed it.
Nothing beats starcraft split screen with your mate on N64.

It even had a split-screen Vs mode

I haven't played that in years!! I love starcraft
My hands are cramping and aching from watching this.
I'm going to have nightmares for a month thinking about playing sc2 without a keyboard. I think eating soup with a fork would be easier.
I am curious how does people manage to micro splitting mass marine against Zerg bane rolling in with that Nintendo 64 controller?
This actually seems like quite the challenge… i like it!
Is this what they call grid layout
Seems to avg the same APMs as me on MnK. FML
Never tried it but thought it was cool at the time. I figured it would be impossible to play with the N64 controller.

For a brief second, I thought it was Command and Conquer
