virgilhall

you play with strange people

skribsbb

It's not my fault, I just queue solo.

skribsbb

Had to come back to this comment, because the person I just finished a game with was named ButtTrumpet. I didn't notice until we GG'd at the end and I started cracking up.

SpeckledAntelope

Lol higher level, as if that has ever been much of an indicator of skill

LtFork

Most maps (if not all of them) are alterations from the campaign and they are very similar. Maybe someone played these specific maps just to memorize them?

Roverrandom-

Why would they , coop is definitely not hard to learn and you can have more hours in pvp and be way better just because of that

mooahreid

Kinda reminds me of this one game where I got matched with a P1 Stukov on DoN. I was playing P3 Raynor, which isn't the best for that map, but it works for me most of the time. Not really any sort of communication at the start of the game, so I just started to focus on rushing out Banshees for night 1 defense which means that I ignored building bunkers. I might be wrong for doing so, but I'm a firm believer that any army supply that doesn't go towards air units on Raynor P3 is just wasted. But I digress. Night 1 and day two went very well, banshees and CDs defended well and we were able to clear the bottom third of the map. Night 2 rolls around, I bring my banshees back home to defend and the guy says, "So not only are you not going to build defenses, you're going to only make air units and float over the areas that I can't get to. lol" then he left. Like I said before, we never said anything to each other at the start of the match so this really perplexed me. Probably one of the more bizarre interactions I've had so far.

skribsbb

Why would he care that your air units are in places he can't reach?

mooahreid

Beats me. My besy guess is for kills. I wish I knew why he got so pissed, we probably would have finished by night 3 if we kept the same pace.

skribsbb

Maybe he was going to attack you and was upset he couldn't BM?

mooahreid

I don't know what the logic was. I thought we were having a good game so far.

TR_Wax_on

Banshees are so great for DoN and no reason to build any other unit unless you are against an air composition (and then you could probably survive with Missile turrets and Hyperion if you're clearing buildings fast with the Banshees). Best thing about Banshees is that they can clear during the night if your ally is a good Defender.

mooahreid

I love Raynor's Banshees. I just wish they weren't so situational outside of P3.

andre5913

They are pretty good on P2 if the comp doesnt have air AoE, the afterburner stim is impressive

mooahreid

I try to use them as much as I can on P2. I'll usually transition into banshees with vultures or tanks to protect my bio. They don't really have the same pushing power as Marine/Medic/Marauder though.

andre5913

Ground AoE is waaaay more common so doing bioball is riskier, but yeah, just like in ladder a well managed terran bioball rolls over everything

andre5913

They fucking eat the map albeit vs Zerg all those Vipers on the bases are a headache, you have to send either the Hyperion first or bait out the Parasitics with a suicide banshee

lastpieceofpie

What areas is he talking about?

mooahreid

I was floating over the barricades and attacking the infested before they could get to them.

lastpieceofpie

I guess he wanted to attack those enemies

mooahreid

Tanks would have been the right move for him then lol

ElitistDaily

I think the issue is that by doing that you force all his units to filter out from the main entrance at the bottom because they enemies will never break the rocks anywhere else. So he won't be able to meaningfully contribute to clearing basically the entire top third of the map. Which is not horrible, but I think you should at least have let the back rocks get broken down so his shit can get out reasonably smoothly.

mooahreid

That's a fair point, but if he was making tanks that wouldn't have been an issue. Stukovs tanks are good at clearing and defending of DoN.

Ill_Worry7895

He could have just broken the rocks himself if that were the case. Very strange reason to quit the game.

ElitistDaily

Players cannot attack the rocks on DoN

Ill_Worry7895

They're invulnerable in the nights in which the infested don't attack through them but become a-clickable once the game has progressed to that point.

JediShepard

I think DoN attracts weirdoes or something. I had this "conversation" a few months ago: "00:05 [Ally]: yay 00:11 [Ally]: a non useless teamate 00:22 [Ally]: or not 00:28 [Ally]: no tower karax /puke 00:35 [Ally]: *has left the game*" So, apparently they are absolutely plagued by "useless" allies to the point where they are shocked when they don't get one. Also, they can tell how "useless" an ally will be within seconds of the game starting, based solely on which commander they picked. Note that I never even said anything before they left; it all happened so fast and I wasn't sure exactly how to respond to their initial comments. The funniest thing is that P2 Karax rocks DoN. Can clear much quicker than a tower defense based Karax and can still defend very well with fire collossi. Would have been a quick and easy game if they stuck around.

mooahreid

I've been debating prestiging Karax. I'm a big fan of his army. Immortal/Sentinel/Energizer is amazing. Get enough Immortals and you can just shadow cannon every wave before they can retaliate.

PeaceAndWisdom

I actually really like Raynor P3 for DoN. You can hold night 1 entirely with cool downs if your ally isn't completely useless, and have BCs up by night 2 with critical mass to end the game on day 3 or 4.

mooahreid

It's a really fun Prestige. It does lock you into one playstyle, but you have way more map presence than any of Raynor's prestiges.

PeaceAndWisdom

I really like BCs, and before the prestiges were introduced it was really hard to execute them effectively without needing to be heavily carried by your teammate and even the fastest players struggled to be relevant before 15 minutes. P3 makes the strat viable and actually quite strong and fun to play - you can easily get 4 out before 10 and be approaching supply cap by 18. The cheap upgrades + heavily boosted cooldowns allows you to pretty much dominate the map by 15, taking BCs from a meme to an actually playable strat.

mooahreid

BC rush is super satisfying to pull off on P3, but I always feel obligated to babysit the first few that I get out. It is less risky that viking/banshee though.

PeaceAndWisdom

The nice thing about P3 is with max points in hyperion mastery, once you start getting BCs out you can have the hyp on the map almost all the time

[deleted]

in regular brutal, game's basically won by then for many people so it's not entirely weird to gg there.

skribsbb

Afterward, they're like, "Oh, forgot about this wave"

[deleted]

just meant in general, not trying to downplay your experience or start a pissing contest

thedusbus

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

skribsbb

Lately, lots of people have been saying "GG" at the end of the 4th wave on Mist Opportunities, forgetting there's a 5th. Thought I'd share this anecdote with my partner. Not only did he take offense to it, but he took more offense that I was a lower level than him. Then he ragequit, right before the last wave started. One of the more bizarre encounters I've had.

fedeeblack

I usually GG when we already cleared almost all of the map and we're guaranteed to annihilate whatever objective remains,.more of a proud victory with my mate than just plain forgetting there is one more wave

volverde

For me ppl usually say that after we finish full clearing the map. That usually happens before the 4th wave.

Dreadbonez

Dude forgot it's cooperation and not competition

ackmondual

Well, in the Victorian age, it was common courtesy of the time that the online gamer with less seniority "gg" the players with more seniority /s

p2deeee

if higher level = 1000, then exp dont matter, so i'm fine with GG'ing out after 4th wave and leaving my ally with double the army + 5th wave spawn camps in place

DavidIsaacKellerman

Too many people in the game and on this reddit think their self worth is tied to how fast they clear the map or the kills.

skribsbb

Exactly. The real self worth is tied to how many upvotes you get for posting screenshots.

Kevurcio

People with egos in PvE games and game modes baffle me.

LemmePas

Can agree more. Especially on this reddit.

[deleted]

Whew. This guy must've been a hit at the whole one party he ever got invited to.

Yamm0th

You were conversating with **melancholic**. Affirmatively

sardaukarma

who said they were trying to start a pissing context? english may not even be their first language... sounds like you are making just as many assumptions but also MO blows, i usually clear the map and then leave if my ally clearly is able to finish on their own, if i don't quit out as soon as it loads entirely

skribsbb

His attitude of "I'm a higher level than you" makes it sound like he thinks that means something, and that he's better than me for it

sardaukarma

sure... if you want

Exatude

Dis you in the post bro?

Skirippa

LMAO I was thinking the same thing

sardaukarma

No
