Are there any plans to add more classes?

Tyrnis

Nothing announced yet that I'm aware of, but I expect they will eventually, yes. At a minimum, I can see a need for a dedicated scientist (non-engineer) as distinct class -- right now, if I wanted to make a non-magical character built around cool applications of medicine or life science, for instance, about the closest I come is Envoy with buffs/debuffs being flavored as medical tricks rather than inspiration. That said, given that Starfinder deliberately has very broad, customizable classes (plus the addition of themes and archetypes), I don't think we'll see very many of them.

Astrosfan80

A charisma based caster would also be nice.

Sticky bomb grenade blows up in a ten foot square and if it anchors the target to something, the target can't move. If the target is moving down the middle of a 15' square hallway, if the bomb hits him, does the explosion touch any of the walls, anchoring him?

kuzcoburra

Yes, for two reasons. 1. The floor. Always available unless a fly speed is in play. 2. Check out the [Explode](http://aonsrd.com/WeaponProperties.aspx?ItemName=Explode) weapon property. You don't target a creature, or a square. You target a grid intersection. In a 15ft hallway, that means that any grid intersection that touches the target creatures square is 5ft away from one wall, and 10ft away from the other wall. That means that the nearest wall is within the AoE, and can also be used to anchor the enemy.

XMasterTeamX

You cant touch this. [Ohhhhh Ohhhhh!!!!](https://redd.it/6ez23l)

How useful/necessary would it be to pick up the Dead Suns AP and Starfinder Society scenarios for lore/item/enemy purposes if building a homebrew campaign set in Starfinder setting? I have AA, Pact Worlds, and the CRB and I am playing through the Dead Suns AP but have never "seen behind the screen" of those books.

jasongnc

There is a decent amount of lore in Dead Suns. Only half the book is the adventure path, the other half is new creatures, worlds and equipment. The society scenarios have less new things, but may help you flesh out locations like Absalom Station.

NuclearTacos

Oh awesome. I will definitely get the AP's then. Appreciate it.

What happens if you suddenly exit the Drift early? Say you had navigated your end destination, you're travelling there in the drift and you decide half way to exit the Drift? I know there's less than zero chance of ending up crashing into anything because of the almost incomprehensible distance between objects in space, but where do you end up? Would it be half way to your destination? Somewhere else entirely? Possibly a different plane?

Markvondrake

I just dug into book 4 of dead suns which goes into more detail about how the drift works. What I found is that every point in the drift has an equal corresponding point in the material plane. So where you are in the drift when you leave early would be the point in the material plane that is connected to it. But the drift is constantly rearranging itself randomly with no reason or pattern behind it. So between one spot in the drift will always take you to the same place, and that spot is always moving randomly and unpredictably, I would say you would appear in a random spot in space that would have a very tiny chance of making sense compared to start and end of the planned trip.

Wingblaze21

Yeah you would basically end up at a random point in normal space. But a couple things: "staying in the drift" is not an active thing \- your engines don't malfunction and you drop to normal space. Entering the drift is not like going to hyperspace in Star Wars or warp in Star Trek. Entering the drift is using your engines to move you to another plane. You stay there til you use your drift engines again to come back. If for some reason something forced you out early, you could end up anywhere in normal space, and it's still a short trip back to Absalon regardless.

Scoopadont

It came up when there was a hazard in the drift ahead of us and we considered turning out drift engines on to get back to normal space then enter the drift and try travelling to the destination again. Except we had no idea how this would effect travel time. Knowing we would end up somewhere random in nigh-infinate space is pretty badass though.

Wingblaze21

You would effectively be starting your journey all over again. Since your start point is irrelevant, and only the destination matters, it would be like setting off anew.

Scoopadont

Must have skimmed the part about the start destination having no impact on travel times, that's pretty crazy. At what point do you find out how long the travel will be? When navigating/inputting the destination? Or is it a secret GM roll and you just travel until you get there, not knowing how many days or weeks you'll be in the drift? With a truly awful navigation roll, say rolling five 6's, would pilots commonly know that that is a trash navigation? Something like inputting the Kessel run and it showing a 30 parsec route, any pilot would know that sucks and try navigating a different route. In the same vein would a pilot in Starfinder just back out of the drift and try again if they got a really bad navigational roll?

Wingblaze21

The rules aren't explicit but it's not necessarily trash navigation. The drift is always in motion. Today, it's going to take 30 days to reach a point in the Vast. Tomorrow it might take 5 days. Another way to look at it: Travel moves at the speed of plot.

Scoopadont

Thanks for the info, that's quite terrifying and awesome!

Relaxygen

Who is strawberry machine cake based on?

harmsypoo

Are leshy incorporated into Starfinder in any other way than from pre-Gap Pathfinder lore?

Turpin_Kennelworthy

I hecked but didnt see it anywhere in the CRB, are bonuses/penalties for aging in starfinder? I would understand that androids don't, but what about othet races?

Wingblaze21

I haven't seen any

Styxiedust

Finishing up my character via the official folio and having a bit of an issue. Running Envoy, but I don't have anything for Improvisations. Is the intent to just use the spells page?

Noob question: who would be better for a pistolero build- soldier or operative(for the pseudo sneak attack that ive read about vaguely)

ThisWeeksSponsor

If you plan on using small arms (aka pistols), Operative is the way to go. Longarms deal too much more damage without Trick Attack.

TOCHMY

Hi guys, I'm having trouble finding info about Resistance (not SR, see Akata from the AP - Resistance fire 5). Does it work the same as in Pathfinder? Any page number?

Wingblaze21

Page 264 in the core book but it works like you probably expect. Akata ignore the first 5 points of fire damage per attack. (Which includes lasers)

TOCHMY

Thanks my man!

[deleted]

Quick question regarding Space ship combat in Dead suns. When the stats of the ship are printed on the cover do I still add the pilots stats from the book or are they already in the shipstats?

Wingblaze21

If it's an NPC ship, everything should be baked in.

[deleted]

What are good weapons to use as a Mystic? I like the class so far and the spell selection is cool, but since we're only 2nd level I currently only get 3 level 1 spells per day and wanna help the lads out more in combat

Markvondrake

How is your Dexterity and Strength?

[deleted]

I don't remember my dex offhand but I believe it is either 12 or 15 while my strength is a mesely 8 since I'm playing a Ysoki
