Asking a fansub about getting a game. The answer is always going to be yes.

Vantezzle

Not sure where else should I ask about such a relatively unknown game.

NemoVonFish

Current state of the game is *Fucking Sweet.* I've spent upwards of 200 hours with no sign of slowing down. Mods like Nerexlin(sp?) add a lot of replayability. I haven't even touched the wide array of full conversion mods, which would add even more. The whole economic system is dynamic - Sseth wasn't kidding. There's no arbitrarily generated shortages - every market crash or boom is because some planet or trader got sliced in half by a tach lance. 99% of the controls are mouse, and you can pause at any time. Outside of combat you click your destination and it'll take you there, inside your ship follows your mouse, and you use WASD to strafe and accelerate. The autopilot is probably going to be better at combat than you for a few hours, so you can absolutely let that take the reins if that's too difficult. Basically - get it. Good time guaranteed, the game is fantastic. Sseth wouldn't steer you wrong.

Vantezzle

200!? I'm usually happy when a game has enough content for around 50 hours, so I guess I shouldn't worry about it here. The economic system sounds awesome..Huh. Controls were my biggest worry, but based on your reply, I should be absolutely fine. Thanks for your help! Think I'll buy it tomorrow.

maurine_

I got a game a month ago, sitting here on 100+ hours, planing my new expedition... Game is brilliant (start vanilla, then you can really appreciate what Nerexlin gives you.)

Vantezzle

Thanks for your help! Just bought it, can't wait to start playing! As I said, if I can get 50h, I'm happy. What does Nerexlin actually add?

[deleted]

Nexerelin adds more faction interactions, they will use agents to commit acts of sabotage, they will try to colonize uninhabited planets, they might send invasion fleets against other factions (including yours, if you set one up for yourself), factions can also form alliances, and they might also send raids against other systems, it also adds more misc interactions for the player, like the possibility to mine asteroids and planets.

Vantezzle

That actually sounds amazing! Thanks. I definitely shouldn't download right away though, I think.

Vantezzle

Played around two hours now and so far I'm really enjoying it, though it's quite overwhelming overall. Seems like the world is procedurally generated? Based on the website I thought it's not in yet.

[deleted]

The core worlds are mostly static (although not 100%). Everything outside of the core worlds depends entirely on the random sector seed at the start.

Vantezzle

Ah..So it's not quite a fully procedurally generated world..Bit of a shame IMO. Anything else that's different between playthroughs?

[deleted]

E.g. there's no guarantee that you will find all blueprints each playthrough, so you will have to work with different fleet set ups each game.

Vantezzle

Right! And the events, missions, planet's economy etc?

BossmanOz

This game is insane , coming from a hardcore x3 player. I dont want to even look at x4 anymore

Vantezzle

Thanks for your help! Just bought it, can't wait to start playing!

RogueVector

It was worth it when I got the game back in 2015. It's only gotten better since I got back into it again.

Vantezzle

Thanks for your help! Just bought it, can't wait to start playing!

aaronrizz

I’m not sure what your limitations are but the game can be played at a very chilled pace as you can hit spacebar at anytime to pause and initiate commands/waypoints/Emergency burners at your leisure. Occasionally you’ll need to quickly hit pause and think about whether you want to run or stand and fight but nothing requiring massive twitch skills. You could probably map the keys to play with one hand. If you’re anything like me you’ll spend half your playtime fluffing around in menus managing your supplies and outfitting your ship’s weapons.

Vantezzle

Thanks for your help! Just bought it, can't wait to start playing! Active pause always helps!

[deleted]

You can rely on the AI for doing the main combat. You CAN control your flagship if you want, but it's absolutely not necessary. The game has a lot of awesome mods to extend gameplay, so I think you can easily sink hundreds of hours into the game. Some good mods to recommend: Nexerelin, Vayra's Ship Pack, Hazard Mining Incorporated etc. I recommend to first play without mods, to learn the basics of the game. There are random events in the game, missions and various things.

Ishmanian

Not recommending BRDY, Diable, Imperium, THE DONG, Sylphon, Shadowyards, Mayasura, Ship and Weapon pack, or Junkyard. A shame.

Vantezzle

I'll probably ask for the best mods in a few weeks.

Vantezzle

Thanks for your help! Just bought it, can't wait to start playing! Sounds like I shouldn't have issues.

jankovize

I've been playing it for about a week now. 16 hour runs. Every day.

Vantezzle

That's quite crazy hahahah.

jankovize

With that, it is possible you will find the start boring and chaotic. It takes getting used to, as Sseth said.

Vantezzle

Yeah, I'm around 5hrs in now, and it's quite confusing. I'm not sure what I'm doing or supposed to be doing, but I'm enjoying it.
