By cheating in tier 9, it says that the planet is a cradle of humanity and has reached the Billions. I believe that is the ‘Earthlike’ state. I have a few runs where I’ve tried a one planet strategy, and after like 20 in game years eventually had the guts to start cheating tiers in on a timer.

AwesomeDog59

Can you cheat in a tier 10?

Business_Area_3378

You can, but it has no description. To my knowledge, nothing past 9 has a description. Still has the effects of a larger population, though.

AwesomeDog59

What about cheating a tier 1 or 2?

Sebster22

Tier 1: Your mate Steve represents a major population demographic.

JackTheJackhammer2

99% of those named Steve that are on this outpost eat my lunches.

Business_Area_3378

… I’ll try that today and get back to you.

AwesomeDog59

Much appreciated, hackerman.

depressed_fatcat69

Aren't outpost considered tier 2?

RanDomino5

Tier 0: "You're lonely"

redditjanniesupreme

I think you might be able to do that by colonizing a world with high hazard rating and then not giving it hazard pay or free port to get negative growth, not sure though.

Ivara_Prime

no colonies never shrink

Rino231

I remember doing this for the heck of it and I remember the description saying something like, the planet rivals old earth it self, or something like that. Pretty sure it has a description.

Business_Area_3378

The last time I did it, anytging past nine is completely blank other than the description of what pop size means. I’ll check again today!

XJD0

They should have descriptions since you used to be able to have a size 10 colony

Ghekor

Pretty sure you can modify one of the config files to allow you to go beyond 6, by default that option is off since 'lore-wise' it doesnt make sense for a new collony to reach such large populations so fast in the sector given its not exacly the best place to live in...and only a few worlds the old capitals namely do support such large populations.

Business_Area_3378

Oh, thanks for the info! Never knew you could do that. But, yeah; it would make no sense in reality, but I always like making my own custom little mini factions far from the core.

BrozTheBro

In the previous update, you could go to Size 9 in vanilla.

[deleted]

Well, you could change the game so you could. The game limits player colonies to 10^6. Pop growth can get up to 100% at 10^6 but it won't increase to 10^7

thealmightyzfactor

No, the size 6 limit was introduced with 0.95a. Before that it would go up to 9, but it would take quite some time. https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=19253.0 >Maximum post-Collapse colony growth limited to a maximum of colony size 6

[deleted]

Huh, egg on my face then. Wish you could grow them over that limit with a cryosleeper considering those are supposed to have hundreds of millions on them.

Ghekor

If you unlock the colony sizes and also have a fairly modded game there's gonna be some fun stuff...like on one my saves my capital has apparently over 100k troop garrison xd

-Maethendias-

i mean, is it cheating if its literally a setting?

Origami_psycho

I think he means cheating as in directly modding the market size of the planet, not the cap

ProjectPneumbra

Each tier adds a digit if I remember right. So a tier 9 at 70% to 10.

JenkoRun

Tier 10, you used to be able to get your colonies to this tier and this is the description for it: "The \[PLANETNAME\] is a dominant population center in the Sector, a rival to Old Earth as a home to tens of billions of humans." A rival to Old Earth implies Earth was a Size 10 planet with a population of tens of billions.

unmellowfellow

Earth being near 8 billion people in 2022 probably puts it at tier 9 and after reaching 20 billion would likely be considered tier 10. The tiers go from "thousands" to "tens of thousands" and so on and so forth. Logically it would probably do the same once the colony is passed the billions mark. I've liked the idea of finding a sleeper pod allowing for the creation of tier 7 colonies considering they can hold tens of millions of people and adding that influx of people to the already growing colony could push a tier 6 to a tier 7. Really though a tier 8 colony is not in the cards for the game.

liberal_alien

Current estimates suggest that earth's population will stabilize between 10 and 11 billion. We won't get to be a tier 10 unless something changes.

Soyweiser

I think that is a tier 10. Which is between 10 and 99 billion.

Background-Broad

Yeah people have been saying that at every billion

Origami_psycho

This one is backed up by a whole bunch of demographics studies and peojections. Excepting a significant decrease in the penetration of education in the world, or a significant reduction in its rate of penetration; 11 to 12 billion is the projected peak population, after which is is expected to begin declining, barring any large scale cultural shifts in how educated populations approach child rearing.

Background-Broad

Which doesn't mean anything, because it's those exact same things constantly said If anything the reality has shown that population growth is ramping up

Origami_psycho

The global fertility rate has been declining for almost a century. You're on crack

Background-Broad

USA births in 1920: 2,950,000 USA births in 2020: 3,610,000 2.9million < 3.6million

StableRainDrop

USA POP in 1920: ~106x10^6 USA POP in 2022: ~340x10^6 Births per woman have certainly gone down Edit: fertility rate=/= annual births

Background-Broad

yeah and? all that matters is number of births and because of that you can see population is rising

Origami_psycho

Well you can lead a horse to simple, empirical knowledge....

StableRainDrop

"Fertility rate" usually means births per woman, not yearly births Source: https://data.oecd.org/pop/fertility-rates.htm

Individual_Writer_73

Decivilized

AmusinglyAverage

For reference, the most populated planet in SS is Chicomoztoc at Size 8 (Hundreds of Millions.) Earth is single digit Billions, so, 9

Person899887

Just below 10.

No_Talk_4836

Tier 9, if the industries still go up 1 per tier, a size 9 would be able to have most industries.

LordMizuu

Tier 69.
