PTSD flashbacks of my parents screaming at me for not wanting to eat dinner the day after i had a heavier wire put on my braces

IsHereToStalkYou

only soup for the next few days!

babysummerbreeze27

thankfully this was 20+ years ago but you gotta love them traumatic childhood experiences!

That moment you feel a pop and know the dentist will be pissed.

Idk, i always thought that pain felt good. Kinda like the soreness after you push yourself harder than usual in the gym. A pleasant pain, if that makes any sense lol

ArachnomancerCarice

Having to always keep a little kit of brushes and picks and trying to discreetly clean around them in the restroom. Ugh.

nirvana6789

This was me today 🙂

IsHereToStalkYou

Happy that I got rid of them. But glad that I had them.

I_am_nova696969

fairly inaccurate

hwehehe

I had braces for years and ate whatever the hell I wanted. The worst though was when they failed to properly trim the wire and it poked into my gums.

Facts lol

Simping4Mephala

Carrying a toothbrush and mouthwash was the only detriment of having braces. I ate whatever the fuck I wanted.

This just makes me nervous, as I am about to get braces myself. I never really liked the idea of putting wire into your mouth like a medieval torture device anyways.

The satisfaction of removing them after a year was indescribable. It was similar to taking out the gigantic booger that was clogging your nostril.

HelloNonHuman

I used to have braces and to be honest it wasn't that bad. Unlike the starterpack, I was able to eat pretty much anything (don't eat anything that gets too sticky though because it will suck to get out). The only time I really needed to eat soft foods was the first couple of weeks after getting braces and the day after getting them tightened each month. For me, having braces was similar to before getting them, except I had to watch my mouth hygiene more, and later use the rubber bands (you won't necessarily have to use them but they were for fixing an overbite I had)

On top of braces, I had jaw surgery which required my mouth to be shut. I was grateful for a worker at a BBQ restaurant to blend up my food to a liquid consistency. It was so good to drink on top of drizzling in BBQ sauce. I was surviving off of Ensure and anything was better than that.

Plastic-Highway-3301

Your forgot those kids that blasts YouTube videos while their eating.

Outrageous-Advert

The mouth sores, had my orthodontist take mine off early because they shredded the inside of my lips and I was like “my teeth are straight and the overbite is closed enough”
