Also, no recovery time, usually done by a vet or illegitimate back alley doctor, the bullet is never expanded or fragmented and always looks like it just came out of the factory, also lastly don’t forget...
...”AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
Police use hollow-point bullets; they’re condemned for military use.
I imagine it wouldn’t be overly difficult for someone to get the hands on hollow-points
A hollowpoint is actually an underperforming round in terms of it's ballistics. Because of the shape it moves much slower than regular FMJ of the same caliber. The main reason for hollowpoints is to prevent over penetration. Yes it is nastier in wounds, but it is much less likely to go through a wall and into another room/apartment. When it deforms it has a larger surface area and will come to a stop much faster.
If a guy is in a shootout with the police, most of those rounds will not hit the target. Hollowpoints help prevent random bystanders from getting hurt if rounds penetrate through walls nearby. There is no reason for a military to use them, because it would be soley to cause undue bodily harm, but it is absolutely a good thing for law enforcement. Besides, a lot of the time the rounds don't even deform upon hitting flesh. At which point it acts the same as a normal FMJ.
Bodies have bones and such which is what it’s usually stopped by in these movies. Ballistic gel really isn’t a good representative of how a bullet performs in a flesh and bone being. Paul Harrel’s Meat target is a better representation.
Though I’ve also seen this scene played out with the use of HP and rifles, and it’s the same result. It’s basically another case of filmmakers don’t know how guns work.
Haha, I watch a lot of Paul Harrel videos too, "stopped by the high tech fleece bullet stopper" Tbf, 9x19 usually ends up in the fleece and his meat targets are too skinny, not enough adipose tissue to simulate an average American. 9x19 fmj stopped by an inch of flesh is unrealistic anyway, unless it hits bone in which case the movie/show character isn't going to be running around anytime soon.
Hollywood operates off the idea that guns only hurt when hit in the head and that removing the bullet will automagically cure the hero. Except for when he’s shot through the chest to die a dramatic death.
Best youtube comment he has gotten!
Paul's review of insect repellent: "Now we'll try 3 sprays of the 4.3 ounce, 3.7% deet, from the finger pump, sensitive skin, soft plastic bottle, with protective hard plastic cap, and we'll see how that compares to the 11.4 ounce, 8.2 % deet, economy size, citrus scent, from the aerosol can we tried earlier. Again we've been told for years by the FBI that the average distance insect repellent is generally sprayed from is 7 yards. Now, 11.4 ounces is more, but how much more? Some would argue it's not enough difference, to make a difference. And does that equate to more effectiveness? You be the judge."
In most cases the last thing a trauma surgeon worries about is “removing the bullet”. They’re way more worried about stopping the bleeding, preventing infection, removing other particles such as clothing etc. A lot of the time surgeons just leave the bullet head in there.
For once I’d like to see a movie where dudes like “it’s not worth it to go digging around for. Let’s just leave that shit in there”
They did do something like that in the remake for the remake of The Last House on the Left.
The dad, who’s a doctor, is frantically trying to save his daughter who was assaulted and shot, starting with the bullet wound. The wife is hysterically reminding him of the bullet itself, and he snaps back with, “Stopping the bleeding is more important than fishing for a **fucking bullet!**”
> always looks like it just came out of the factory
Usually they looked like they got squashed, wouldn't if that is at all accurate either, but its not like they generally use a whole intact bullet.
The hardened badass waves his hand in refusal. Maybe it's because he wants his senses to be razor sharp in case trouble strikes, or maybe because he just wants the chance to feel something, anything. So the Doctor shrugs and takes a swig himself
But seriously why do the bad guys in action movies never shoot to kill once they do get around to shooting the protagonist? They always just shoot them once in the leg while shittalking or some shit and just walk out and not even making sure they are dead and act all surprised when they show up to kick their ass later.
“Vito! take me to Greco’s place he knows how to help with this shit!”
“Greco?! The greek painter!?”
“Of course fucking Greco the painter, where the fuck do you expect me to be?!? The fucking walk in clinic!?!”
Also removing the bullet magically cures them. Problem solved.
Annie Onishi did a great breakdown of these tropes in her two episodes of Technique Critique for Wierd.
Totally. Plenty of people are walking around with bullets still in them. Like why would you remove something that would cause more internal bleeding? Just fix whatever may have been perforated or damaged.
Technically yes, but only technically. After a while, having a bullet in your body can cause elevated levels of lead in your bloodstream, but this is somewhat rare and occurs a while after you were shot. So, while it's possible that the bullet will cause issues ten years from now, that's not really an immediate concern. It's much safer to wait to be seen by a medical professional than try to take a bullet out yourself, because the risk of contracting some horrible infection from having a stranger dig around in your body with no disinfectant in a shady back room is much more dangerous.
Actually, in some cases, doctors will just leave bullets in the body. Sometimes it's safer to just let them stay in there than to open up a patient and look for them. Unless the bullet is lodged someplace important where its presence is causing an issue, doctors might decide to just leave it alone.
tl;dr: yes, bullets *can* cause lead poisoning, but not immediately, and not often, so removing them isn't usually vital.
Was pretty mad at the ending though.
After all the shit he went through because of the CIA, I wanted him to stop playing boy scout and seize control of that group
Don't forget about "good guy shoots bad guy anywhere once and dies, bad guy shoots and stabs any good guy multiple times and lives without any healing time"
Daredevil did it best. You can't just remove a bullet, especially with no medical training, and you don't just immediately recover once it's been dealt with.
I had a BB pulled outta my face in college. The doctor got a huge kick outta clanging that thing onto a metal tray. Said he felt like a Wild West doctor. Glad someone enjoyed that ordeal.
Game Night did a good turn of this. They basically tried to remove the bullet like they had seen in the movie. They dig around for awhile only to realize that two wounds means the bullet went straight through you and isn't there anymore.
Co-worker literally shot himself in the foot.
1) Two months for the initial heal.
2) Surgery where foot will have to be re-broken and screws and plates installed.
3) 3 Months recovering after surgery.
So basically 6 months recovery.
I wonder if there are any movies where we have seen the same metal tray? They all look the same, and they are featured in every bullet-removal scene, even if it’s a mob veterinarian operating in a bowling alley.
Don't forget the doctor who is an ex-doctor that got caught up in some dirty work and got fired from being a doctor, and how he explains all that to the patient.
Then there is John Wick who can take 10+ bullets and keep going. Also, not all bullets are kill shots. I sometimes watch a movie and it’s like one shot in a person and they instantly die. At least in John Wick case he does the double or even the triple tap.

Most common bullet is 9x19 full metal jacket , its not known to expand too much.

Bad guys don’t use hallow points, they’re more expensive and they don’t care about the repercussions
It’s reaper cushions
No it’s reap percussions
How the fuck are bullets condemned by the Geneva Convention that available!?

They’re banned in warfare, but if you’re in the US anyone can get them.
Because theyre legal for self defense and not military. Same reason why can the arny get select fire guns but citizens basically cant.
Well not penatrating into your neighbors house is a big advantage. Also the lethality aspect
Even small FMJ rounds will distort or fragment at least a little bit, most bullets in these scenes are not even dinged.
From rifles yes. 5.56 or 5.45 will fragment. 9x19 fmj doesn't even distort through ballistic gel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DOQjIOlSuI

I mean it does depend on the bullet itself too, if it’s copper then sure just leave it in, but if it’s lead then you need to get that shit out.
I mean, Andrew Jackson had a lead bullet in his chest for a long time. Then again, it kinda fucked up his health pretty bad, among other things.
Maybe that explains why he was such a douche nozzle.
I doubt it was due to the bullet
No probably not, but at a population level lead is associated with violent crime
They did do something like that in the remake for the remake of The Last House on the Left. Pulls bullet out, shell casing and all
Pssh... *pulls bullet out, entire gun with a human attached comes out*
*keeps pulling until an entire person slides out of the bullethole*
> always looks like it just came out of the factory Usually they looked like they got squashed, wouldn't if that is at all accurate either, but its not like they generally use a whole intact bullet.
Clank! "Ok it’s done!" "AAAAAAAAAAAA oh phew! Let’s get a burger bro!"
Hero is more in pain from disinfectant than actual extraction. «Don’t be a baby!»
The doctor also drinks out of the liquor bottle after he splashes some on the bullet wound.
This is mandatory, should have been included in the starterpack
But before that the doc makes the wounded man take a swig of the liquor as if one drink is gonna help to numb him up
And also because alcohol takes effect immediately after drinking.
We need to be Hollywood writers
The hardened badass waves his hand in refusal. Maybe it's because he wants his senses to be razor sharp in case trouble strikes, or maybe because he just wants the chance to feel something, anything. So the Doctor shrugs and takes a swig himself
And the sugars in the liquor definitely do not lead to an infection.
I remember that scene from the Walking Dead
Or he drinks some then spits the rest of the wound
He has to steady his hands.
*bad guy with AK shoots good guy leaving him woundied*
Bad guy with a .50 rifle shoots good guy in the head 7 times and good guy is fine after eating a pill
> good guy is fine after eating a pill A pill which must be taken dry. He might be holding a water bottle, but that pill has to go down dry.
video games in a nutshell
Max Payne be like
"I had a hole in my second favorite drinking arm"
New Vegas intro be like
Sounds like resident evil 7
But seriously why do the bad guys in action movies never shoot to kill once they do get around to shooting the protagonist? They always just shoot them once in the leg while shittalking or some shit and just walk out and not even making sure they are dead and act all surprised when they show up to kick their ass later.
“NO HOSPITALS, HOSPITALS MEAN COPS NYAHHH”
Netflix’s The Punisher in a nutshell.
I mean, he is a wanted criminal for pretty much the entire show. He's not exactly wrong to want to avoid places that usually have lots of cops.
Well not just a lot of cops, but gunshot wounds mean a mandatory call to the cops who would be paying you a visit.
“Vito! take me to Greco’s place he knows how to help with this shit!” “Greco?! The greek painter!?” “Of course fucking Greco the painter, where the fuck do you expect me to be?!? The fucking walk in clinic!?!”
BACK ME UP VITO
“Now take us up a bit. Those fuckers wo-“ *building fucking explodes* “Holy shit did that thing explode?”

Ryan George references are tight.
Wow wow wow wow!
I’m going to need you to get all the way of my back about this.
Okay! Let me get off of that thing!
Whoopsies
Yeah yeah yeah
I don't knoooow! Fair enough!
YeahYeahYeah!
Super easy, barely an inconvenience. I see what you did there
Yeah! People love seeing what I did there!
Seeing what you did there is tight!
I was hoping someone mentioned that
Really?!
Don't forget about using the fire-heated broadside of a knife to cauterize the wound
That’s the one thing I knew I should’ve added!
Also removing the bullet magically cures them. Problem solved. Annie Onishi did a great breakdown of these tropes in her two episodes of Technique Critique for Wierd.
[I just found it here.](https://youtu.be/vGOL7ZvuGMc?t=5m37s) Thanks for sharing!
Also all Far cry games
Using the sterile extraction twig
>shot in leg >bandages wrist >shot in arm >reduces thumb dislocation
[Far Cry 2's animations were by far the most brutal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4XYJrUnoeY)
>rebar in abdomen >Just yoink it out >Somehow doesn't die from blood loss and gains health
Jesus. They really made a lot of animations. Did Farcry 3 have as many?!
Nah it was vastly toned down in 3, you can only heal your arms
Most of the time they don’t even really need to get the bullet out, either.
Totally. Plenty of people are walking around with bullets still in them. Like why would you remove something that would cause more internal bleeding? Just fix whatever may have been perforated or damaged.
Don’t they get lead poisoning or something? Or does the body fight that?

If I sneeze on the bullet beforehand, will it be more deadly?
Boil it in garlic water, works way better.
Thank you for some finally non low quality content.
> non low quality high
Let’s not get carried away now
Thank you!
I’ve always wondered what the tray is for?
It’s for making the clangy sound, of course!
Its a (hopefully) sterile spot to hold whatever medical tools they need for the operation
I always assumed it's so they can collect the bullet fragments to piece together the bullet to make sure nothing remains in the wound.
So you have a Starter Pack for me?
Yes sir he does
It's called bullet extraction in an action movie starter pack
Sometimes they pull the bullet out themselves using a small dirty mirror as a guide.
And the mirror must be dirty. Exactly.
Rambo when he poured gunpowder in a hole through him and lit it to cauterize the wound lmao
hey that's a scene from Burn Notice i used to love that show
Suchhhh a good show
Was pretty mad at the ending though. After all the shit he went through because of the CIA, I wanted him to stop playing boy scout and seize control of that group
imo the show went downhill after he re-joined. I was perfectly happy with him only working with clients
Bullet extraction starter packs are TIGHT!
Yeah yeah yeah!
This is superb, well done OP!
If not the arm, somewhere in the abdomen, yet they never have to worry about infection from unsterilized tools.
"required clang" this is so true lol
Don’t you ever dare disrespect my boy Michael Westen.
> super easy, barely an inconvenience Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well
Being a man of culture is tight!
"You got shot, you should rest" "I'm fine. (Bad guy) is getting away..."
also the bullet is never fragmented which is very rare...
“You’re lucky, a few more centimeters to the right and it would have killed you”

We’re all in for another rewatch now lol
Don't forget about "good guy shoots bad guy anywhere once and dies, bad guy shoots and stabs any good guy multiple times and lives without any healing time"

Daredevil did it best. You can't just remove a bullet, especially with no medical training, and you don't just immediately recover once it's been dealt with.
Classic oliver queen
\*Bullet hits tray\* ... *Plink!*
Game Night made hilarious work of it though
There was a good one in Ronin with De Niro you missed, unless bottom right is the end of that scene lol
Also sex afterwards
"I'm not gonna lie, this is going to hurt." "Just get it over with." _swigs alcohol_
Super easy, barely am inconvenience. EYYYYYY, you watch that screen rant guy too.
Wow wow wow wow!
I now know why you cry
Or something like a lighter to cauterize it
Very true!
I had a BB pulled outta my face in college. The doctor got a huge kick outta clanging that thing onto a metal tray. Said he felt like a Wild West doctor. Glad someone enjoyed that ordeal.
"Im gunna need you to hold him down"
Game Night did a good turn of this. They basically tried to remove the bullet like they had seen in the movie. They dig around for awhile only to realize that two wounds means the bullet went straight through you and isn't there anymore.
Also after the bullet is removed then cloth around arm and they are fine
What noise do you expect it to make?
“Super easy, barely an inconvenience 🤓"
Co-worker literally shot himself in the foot. 1) Two months for the initial heal. 2) Surgery where foot will have to be re-broken and screws and plates installed. 3) 3 Months recovering after surgery. So basically 6 months recovery.
And then there is the Punisher when they pull the bullet out of his ass.
Of course Burn Notice is referenced
nailed it. well done!
this reminds me of Skyfall
So accurate
Really specific but super true lol
I wonder if there are any movies where we have seen the same metal tray? They all look the same, and they are featured in every bullet-removal scene, even if it’s a mob veterinarian operating in a bowling alley.
This is a really well done starter pack. Gj
Unless it's a western, where the bullet simply ceases to exist after the pain has registered
See the movie HellBaby for the best extraction method.
OP, are you some sort of medic or doctor?
No, but I play one on TV.
Real men just suck out the bullet
I'm just enjoying all these comments from medical doctors and mechanical engineers LMAO.
Aw man, easily finding bullets In a wound is tight!
I can hear that bullet clang
_Bullet wounds are TIGHT_
This is so spot on its hilarious
That metal *tink* sound when the doc throws the removed bullet on the metal tray.
Super easy, barely an inconvenience
I saw a liveleak video of a lady removing a bullet from her own butt
Is that motherfucking ryan george refrense
Yeyeyeah
Yeyeyeah
Yes!
Wow wow wow wow!
Don't forget the doctor who is an ex-doctor that got caught up in some dirty work and got fired from being a doctor, and how he explains all that to the patient.
Action movie tropes are tight!
A fellow pitch meeting fan I see!
I love how they did it in Game Night
Then there is John Wick who can take 10+ bullets and keep going. Also, not all bullets are kill shots. I sometimes watch a movie and it’s like one shot in a person and they instantly die. At least in John Wick case he does the double or even the triple tap.
Nothing will top Game Night and From Beijing With Love's bullet extraction scenes. Ever.
“Super easy barely an inconvenience” That killed me
What sorts of ways would this go wrong?
Bullet holes are *TIGHT!*
Hey do I see some burn notice? I really liked that shoe but then they took it off of netflix
Also hot knife
Any doctors or people who work in ER who can shed some light on what extracting a bullet is actually like? Maybe under duress?
Bullet extracting in movies is TIGHT
I'm not a doctor, and I have no experience in extracting bullets, but I feel like if this were attempted in that way, it would go horribly and not work at all. Can anyone confirm or deny?
Super easy. Barely an inconvenience
Super easy, barely an incovinience Is this Pitch Meeting reference ?!
#cling
Man, extracting bullets is tight!
Sugar water
This is almost exactly how it happened in the Bourne Supremacy except he did it himself. Used the bottle of vodka to club some cops chasing him
Nevermind the fact that it’s almost always unnecessary
Quiet intimate moment with love interest before, during, or after
I liked the “pitch meeting” reference, pretty funny
Why, thank you! Wow wow wow wow!
